WSU On The Road Report For 5/30: Mercedes Martinez Defends Championship Against Four Opponents, Breaking News & Notes For 6/6 & More
WSU News Update For 5/15: Orsini, Martinez, Carter & More WSU RETURNS ON JUNE 6 WITH UNCENSORED RUMBLE II WHAT: WSU Presents "Uncensored Rumble II" FOR COMPLETE SHOW INFORMATION AND MATCH LISTINGS, check out WSUWRESTLING.com & DOIWRESTLING.com 5/15 News Update: MARTINEZ GRANTS QUICK INTERVIEW A WSU freelance reporter caught up with Mercedes Martinez as she was about to go training in Waterbury, Connecticut. Martinez granted our reporter several minutes of interview time. Below is our reporter's transcript:
WSU Reporter: Mercedes Martinez, I know you are busy and I thank you for your time. I will make this quick. June 6th, 2009 you will defend the WSU Championship in what is being billed as an historic and epic match for all of womens wrestling. Your thoughts going into the match and about Angel Orsini? Martinez: "You know, I've been reading all the hype, reading fan emails, listening to what Orsini has to say and as we get closer to 6/6, and don't take this as a sign of weakness, I am feeling the pressure. But let me say, I'm feeling this pressure in a good way. This isn't going to be a ho-hum thing , some bullshit, this is going to be one of the most historic matches in womens wrestling. Where do you see two women wrestlers get this type of match? I do want to thank WSU for having the cajones to give us this proper match. I don't care about words like "angles", "storylines" whatever you want to call it, I care about competition and being the best. Every one who follows WSU knows that for the last year, myself and Orsini have been battling neck and neck over the WSU title. At some point in time it has to end and I can't think of a better way than this Ironwoman match. When it's all said and done one of us will become the top woman in wrestling and the other is going to have to reinvent themself, because the loser doesn't get a rematch for the belt. I mean looking ahead, just think about it. For the past year myself and Orsini have waged war and have had some great matches in my opinion. It all ends on 6/6 in this 60 minute match. I can't imagine myself not in the WSU title picture. The person who loses this match will have a lot of time to reflect and think. When I first came to WSU I was on the D/L and WSU allowed me to do some interviews, managi ng and quick stuff. That whole time, all I could think about was being WSU champion. I couldn't be WSU champion then because of my injuries, you know physically. Now, to think that I couldn't be WSU champion because I lost a match stating I can't get a rematch? I can't even begin to ponder that and that is why I must, NO, that is why I WILL WIN this match. Orsini , me and you have alot of history girl, and on 6/6 , I'm closing the book. Two roads will intersect on 6/6, but after 6/6 those roads will diverge. One of those roads will be the road to self-discovery and questioning. The other road will be the golden road as WSU champion. That is the road I will be on, and I'm not talking shit, because I know what you got Angel, but this belt, this company, the meaning and premise of this match , everything Angel, it is my world and no one is going to slam the door on my world."
--- UPDATE ON BROOKE CARTER'S PARTNER FOR 6/6 WSUWrestling.com has heard rumors that Brooke has reached out to someone in WSU's past about joining her when Carter defends the WSU Tag Team Championships on 6/6. Carter would not comment on the rumors but would say that "I don't have a partner yet, but I will have one on 6/6."
-- ANGEL ORSINI'S CANDID COMMENTS ON 6/6 WSUWrestling.com caught up with Orsini after a closed training session in New Brunswick, NJ. Orsini made the following comments:
-- Make sure to check out WSUWrestling.com for complete show information WSU News Update WSU will like to thank current WSU Tag Team Champion & 2009 King & Queen of the Ring Tournament Winner Miss April for all her hard work and wish her all the best of luck in her future endeavors. No, WSU is not "firing" Miss April. This isn't a press release making light of someone's job situation like other companies do. WSU is happy to announce that Miss April has signed a WWE developmental contract and as a result, will no longer be able to do WSU or other independent shows. Recently, WWE held a camp for developmental prospects at the FCW facility in Florida. WWE officials were impressed with April and saw the same ability WSU saw in April and offered her a deal. On behalf of the WSU & DOI, we wish April the best of luck as she moves on to the next chapter of her life and career. We hope Miss April's style of wrestling helps increase the industry standards of womens wrestling on the national level. April was trained by Jay Lethal at the ACE wrestling school. However, April left the ACE school as Lethal trained her on his own. April basically ran out of opponents to wrestle at the ACE promotion and branched out. April became a fixture in WSU and quickly become one of indy wrestling's breakout female stars. I think I speak for alot of people when I say April works hard but I don't think anyone saw this coming so fast for her, but since it did, I'm sure she'll make the best out of the opportunity. However, with Miss April gone, this leaves a hole in the WSU roster. Miss April, who joined the company last year, made quite the name for herself, winning tag team gold with Brooke Carter. April also won the King & Queen of the Ring Tournament with TNA Star Jay Lethal at the last WSU show. (You can also find DVDs of WWE's newest talent at DOIVideo.com or at WSUWrestling.com by the way!) With April now unable to make the event, WSU had a roster spot open for 6/6. WSU is happy to announce that former WSU Champion & TNA star Nikki Roxx returns to WSU on 6/6. Nikki Roxx will be a special guest on "Missy's Manor" as Roxx will reveal her comeback plans. WSU has also received wind that there is a huge surprise in store for 6/6 as well that will shock WSU's foundation... As far as the WSU Tag Team Title situation goes, WSU officials have decided to allow the other 1/2 of the WSU Tag Team champions, Brooke Carter, name a replacement partner to resume April & Carter's title reign. WSU feels that Carter shouldn't become a victim because of good news and success and will not strip her of the tag team titles. Carter told WSUWrestling.com that she's overwhelmed by the news and so happy for her now ex-partner, that she hasn't even had time to think straight. Carter better start thinking straight soon or she could become an ex-tag champion on 6/6, as Carter & a partner of her choosing will take on Jessicka Havok & Hailey Hatred. To make sure the WSU tag team title situation in WSU is solidified and resolved, the WSU Tag Team Title match between Brooke & her partner, whoever it may be vs Havok/Hatred, will be under WSU Rules, meaning that the only way to win will be by pinfall or submission. We hope to get clues on Carter's partner in the upcoming weeks. WSU is happy to see one of our own "make it" and we hope to continue to be a breeding ground for other future TV stars. Come see what all the hype is about by visiting WSUWrestling.com as on on 6/6, WSU will be presenting a 60 Minute Woman Iron Match between WSU Champion Mercedes Martinez & Angel Orsini, as this will be the match to finally settle the hottest and most intense feud ever in WSU history. Also on the card is the annual Uncensored Rumble match, a 20 woman Royal Rumble rules battle royal, with the winner becoming number 1 contender to the WSU Championship. WSU On The Road Report WSU, the leader of womens wrestling in the northeast, continued on the road as we head to the huge June 6th event featuring Angel Orsini & Mercedes Martinez going one-on-one for possibly the last time ever in a 60 Minute Iron Woman Match. Both Orsini & Martinez have asked WSU for more matches, as they prepare for what is sure to be a monumental and historic match-up on June 6th. Orsini stated previously that she would put up her number 1 contendership on the line, as she feels she wrestles best under pressure. There is no other situation that causes more pressure in WSU than wrestling for the WSU Championship, which is one of the most prestigious and important championships in womens wrestling today. This past Friday night, on May 1st, in Brooklyn, NY, Orsini faced Jana in a Number 1 Contenders Match. This was the second time these two veterans have squared off. The first time saw Orsini, who seemed to hate all the fans, take on the fan-loving Jana. Now nearly a year later, the crowd was solidly behind Orsini, while Jana looked like she wanted to slap every fan in the face. In a spirited contest, Jana focused solely on Orsini's left leg. Jana, who has been studying submissions and the art of former UFC Champion Ken Shamrock while he was in his prime, kept twisting and turning Orsini's limbs and ligaments. Orsini, who never takes a foe lightly, seemed to look like she was having an off night as Jana's mat game had vastly improved since the last time they stepped in a ring. However, Orsini was able to fight back and after a series of lariats, Orsini went for her Kiss of Death finisher. As Orsini was in the final stage of executing the maneuver, Jana elbowed her way out of it and put Orsini in her deathly JANAVICE (Front Facelock Submission). This is the same move that Jana used to go on her massive winning streak. It is also the same move that no one in WSU has been able to break, even WSU Champion Mercedes Martinez. Orsini looked exasperated and on the verge of tapping out, but Orsini valiantly made her way to the bottom rope. Orsini snuck in her left leg under the bottom rope, while grabbing the middle rope. Jana, who used all the time in the ref's 5 count previously in the match during submission holds, would just not break the hold. It seems Jana is legit possessed and cares more about hurting people and inflicting pain than anything else. The ref, giving Jana some leniency, due to the nature of the match gave Jana second chance. Jana would not break the hold and referee Pat Savino disqualified Jana, deeming Angel Orsini the winner via DQ. This match was filmed for future DVD release. WSU will like to thank our partners at FCW for presenting this match and it felt good to see an indy show in NYC draw well. WSU returns next week on the road on May 9th at an NWS event where Mercedes Martinez will put up the WSU Championship against WSU Tag Champion Brooke Carter. Stay tuned for more details.

WSU 4/23 News: Rankings & Tournament Histories
Official WSU Rankings WSU teamed up with the NWS on 4/11/09 to present the fourth annual "King & Queen of the Ring Tournament" in Kearny, NJ. This tournament has become an annual staple for the NWS promotion and for the second consecutive year, WSU was proud to team up with the NWS to present this tournament of mixed-tag team wrestling matches. As a bonus to the card, as a result of what happened the night before on 4/10, at the J-Cup Tournament, a special three way WSU Championship match was signed as defending champion Mercedes Martinez took on former champion & 2009 J-Cup Winner Angel Orsini and her co-hort Rain. To begin the show, NWS promoter Joe Panzarino explained the rules of the tournament and introduced the teams to the sold out Kearny Boys & Girls Club. When you see the DVD of this show, it will be hard to argue that this was one of WSU's most vocal crowds yet. In First Round Tournament Matches: NWS Heavyweight Champion Vicious Vinny & WSU Tag Team Champion Brooke Carter d. Nicky Oceans & Autumn Breeze Former NWS Heavyweight Champion Danny Demanto & Jana d. Travis Blake/Jennifer Cruz * Note: Travis Blake was a substitution for Damian Adams, as Adams required surgery this week. TNA Star Jay Lethal & WSU Tag Champion Miss April d. Helter Skelter/Trixie Lynn Bison Bravado & Annie Social d. JD Smoothie/Roxxie Cotton and Ref Hanson/Rick Cataldo In a wild set-up, Rick Cataldo & Sean Hanson interrupted this first round match before it could even happen. After threatening to sue both the NWS & WSU for sexual discrimination and announcing that they were the real King & Queen of WSU, NWS commissioner Gino Moore decided to make this an impromptu three way first round match. The crowd was all over Rick & Hanson and this is a must-see DVD experience. However, Annie Social, who after the match made the huge "Loser-Leaves-The Betties" tag team match challenge, was victorious after rolling up her partner Roxxie Cotton in what felt weird to many long time WSU fans. In a live edition of Missy's Manor, Missy Hyatt interviewed the finalists of last night's J-Cup tournament, Angel Orsini & Rain. Both said that they got over their brawl from last night and have made a new pact, and that pact was to take the WSU championship off of Mercedes Martinez tonight in their triple threat match. Both promised the other a title shot after they defeated Martinez tonight. This brought out the Latina Sensation Mercedes Martinez. Martinez said why wait now, and went after Orsini. However, while Orsini was eating her words, courtesy of Miss Martinez, Rain walked away, leading to suspicions of Rain's true motives. Second Round Tournament Matches Danny Demanto & Jana d. NWS Champion Vicious Vinny & WSU Tag Champion Brooke Carter Beating his NWS rival wasn't good enough for Danny, as after the match he gave Vinny a conchairto. The fake Ultimate Warrior ran out to help his friend Vinny out. The fake Ultimate Warrior who comes out to the real Ultimate Warrior's music grabbed the chair away from Danny. However, when Vinny woke up, he saw the fake Warrior with a real steel chair. Vinny thought Warrior hit him with the chair and it seems a possible Wrestlemania 6 re-creation showdown is in the works. TNA Star Jay Lethal & WSU Tag Champion Miss April d. Bison Bravado & Annie Social Before continuing, NWS promoter Joe Panzarino announced that the finals of the tournament was now set as it would be Danny Demanto & Jana taking on Jay Lethal & Miss April. Panzarino also plugged upcoming WSU & NWS events, which you can read more about at NWSWrestling.com & WSUWrestling.com WSU Championship Match (c) Mercedes Martinez d. Angel Orsini & Rain in a Triple Threat Contest This was a great in-ring match that went over 15 minutes. The match saw both challengers team up together to pick apart Martinez. However, when it came time to pin Martinez, neither one would concede to the other, and this led to Angel & Rain brawling. Eventually, Martinez was able to thunderously clothesline Orsini over the top rope, sending Orsini crashing to the floor. Rain went to sneak in to hit her RainDrop Implant DDT on Martinez, but Martinez countered it into her patented fisherwomans suplex for the clean 1-2-3. Orsini made it known afterwards that she has unsettled business with the champ. 2009 King & Queen of the Ring Third Round FINALS TNA Star Jay Lethal & WSU Tag Champion Miss April d. Danny Demanto & Jana In a match near the 20 minute mark, Jay Lethal & Miss April joined previous duos of Julio Dinero/Kara "Cherri" Slice, Danny Demanto/Melissa Stripes & Nikki Roxx/Rhett Titus as winners of this tournament. This was a great match that the crowd was super hot for. In a classic battle of all that is right in the world vs all that is wrong and evil, good prevailed over evil as Lethal put away the gigantic Danny Demanto, while April fended off the sadistic Jana. Both Lethal & April were crowned as King & Queen of the ring sending everyone home happy and having something to tell the Easter Bunny about. WSU returns on 6/6 with the Uncensored Rumble II event. Stay tuned to WSUWrestling.com for DVD release information. WSU 4/10 "3rd Annual Women's J-Cup Tournament Results" WSU & NWS returned on 4/10 to co-present the third annual Women's J-Cup tournament. This was WSU's first show since the much talked about "2nd Anniversary Show". This was the first WSU show in nearly a years time that didn't feature Angel Orsini as WSU Champion. With Mercedes Martinez winning the championship in a grueling bullrope match on 3/7, this would be the first show Martinez would defend her newly won WSU championship. Also introduced was NWS commissioner Gino Moore. All 8 participants were brought out to the ring to get a look at what they were competing for - the coveted women's J-Cup trophy. After well wishes from both Moore & Hyatt, the tournament was about to begin, until WSU champion Mercedes Martinez came out. Martinez wished everyone well and talked about how important this tournament was. The two previous winners of this tournament turned their tournament wins into WSU Championship reigns. In fact it was at last years J-Cup where the whole Orsini/Martinez feud began, a tournament that saw Martinez defeat Orsini in the finals. Martinez said she was looking forward to taking on the winner of this tournament in a future match. However, Martinez's opponent for the night, the evil Jana came out. Jana told Martinez she was on borrowed time and that Martinez wouldn't even make it out tonight as WSU champion. Martinez & Jana got into a heated altercation before it was broken up. -------- WSU/NWS Women's J-Cup Tournament Round One Match Rain d. 1/2 of the WSU Tag Team Champions Brooke Carter In a spirited match, the savvy veteran Rain was able to put away the young upstart after an implant DDT. WSU/NWS Women's J-Cup Tournament Round One Match Angel Orsini d. Annie Social In what many were calling the best first round match of the tournament, Orsini coming out like a bat out of hell, defeated Social after hitting her flatliner finisher. After the match, Rick Cataldo ran out to reveal he was Annie's attacker on 2/7 and the reason why Annie was unable to make the 2nd Year Anniversary show. Annie went to get revenge on Rick, but Rick cowardly ran to the back. WSU/NWS Women's J-Cup Tournament Round One Match Trixie Lynn d. Jennifer Cruz Another rookie debuted in WSU, as Jennifer Cruz had her first WSU match. However, it wouldn't be a cinderella night for Cruz, as Lynn, in her sophomore year in WSU was able to turn back the challenge. WSU/NWS Women's J-Cup Tournament Round One Match 1/2 of the WSU Tag Champions Miss April d. Roxxie Cotton In a wild match between two of WSU's more athletic women stars, April was able to defeat the person who she took one of the tag titles from, Roxxie Cotton. After the match, Rick Cataldo came out to attack Roxxie, but Annie Social ran out and threw Rick in the ring. Roxxie & Annie beat up Rick. Annie then challenged Rick to a match on 6/6. WSU/NWS Women's J-Cup Tournament Round Two Match Rain d. 1/2 of the WSU Tag Champions Miss April In another spirited and hard fought match, the grizzled veteran Rain was able to defeat the other WSU tag champion Miss April. Rain had alot of momentum going into the finals by defeating both members of the WSU Tag Team Champions. WSU/NWS Women's J-Cup Tournament Round Two Match Angel Orsini d. Trixxie Lynn Orsini, in her new pink outfit, seemed to be insanely focused and dedicated to winning this tournament after losing the WSU championship a month ago. Lynn became Orsini's second victim in this tournament. In a Gullivers Travel Match, The Giant Silva was able to defeat Boris Nobika w/Comrade Chow, Soul Assassin #1, Fierce Fuego & Helter Skelter For the WSU Womens Championship (c) Mercedes Martinez d. Jana In what would be Jana's biggest match to date, Mercedes Martinez was able to retain her championship after a long hard fought match after putting Jana away with her fisherman suplex. At one point in the match, Jana looked like she had the match won after having Martinez in her front face lock submission, only for Martinez to break the hold by grabbing the ropes. After the match, Jana wigged out and destroyed NWS official Mike Dillon. NWS security guards tried breaking it up, only for Jana to beat them up. Jana looked possessed and looks like a path you don't want to cross. WSU/NWS Women's J-Cup Tournament Round Three Match FINALS Angel Orsini d. Rain In a wild, wild, wild match that featured tables, chairs, mat wrestling and crazy brawling, Orsini as able to defeat her partner in crime, Rain via pinfall. After the match, everyone from the tournament came out to celebrate with Angel, which Angel uncharacterestically embraced. Rain flipped out that Angel was celebrating this win with others. Rain exposed Angel's pact with her from 1/10. Rain said that when she first came to WSU, she was brought in to protect Orsini's championship. Rain said she held up her end of the deal on 1/10. Rain said it wasn't her fault that Orsini couldn't get the job done on 3/7. Rain said therefore she wants the championship shot Orsini promised her and snatched the J-Cup trophy & shot away from Orsini. Orsini said it wasn't her fault Rain couldn't get the job done here tonight. Martinez then came out and said she wants to beat Rain up because she never forgot Rain slamming a steel cage door in her face 3 months ago. NWS commissioner Gino Moore said he sees 3 wrestlers, 2 challengers and 1 championship and asked the fans if they want to see a three way match. The fans went nuts for that announcement. All three stared each other down, before a huge pier-6 brawl broke out. The main event for tonight's King & Queen tournament is now set, instead of the originally booked Angel Orsini vs Mercedes Martinez title match, it will now be Martinez vs Orsini vs Rain in a Triple Threat Title Match!!!!! AmyLee, Kong Brawl On Main Street!Boonton, New Jersey's, Darress Theater has been home to some classic matches between WSU wrestlers over the past year. But was the Boonton shopping district ready for two of the toughest WSU women Not only was the WSU ring not able to hold the action between AmyLee and Kong...the Darress Theater couldn't even contain their brutality as their battle spilled out the front door and onto Main Street. Cars whizzed by and store owners rushed out to their front doors to witness the titanic battle as the two powerhouses pummelled and battered each other between parked cars and sidewalk shoppers. Both ladies pounded, kicked and choked away at each other with no regard to traffic or innocent bystanders. The big loser in this outdoor brouhaha? Without a doubt...the poor owner of the red Nissan Quest that absorbed the brunt of the abuse from these wild, out of control wrestlers! Photo: Bonus POD! Bonus POD! Bonus POD! Bonus POD! Bonus POD! ![]() Photo: ![]() Photo: ![]() Photo: ![]() Photo: WSU 3/7/09 Results WSU returned on 3/7/09 for our Second Anniversary Show. The show was headlined by Mercedes Martinez's year-long chase for the WSU Championship, as she took on the longest reigning & defending champion in WSU history, WSU Champion Angel Orsini. Prior to the event, WSU inducted three members into the newly formed WSU Hall of Fame. The WSU Hall of Fame was created with the sole purpose of honoring all the great females who have contributed to the sport of pro wrestling. In what was a classy event, all the members of the WSU locker room came out to watch the Hall of Fame Ceremony. WSU commentator Sean Hanson emceed the event. Alere Little Feather inducted Malia Hosaka. Both had phenomenal speeches. Malia talked about womens wrestling when she started & how it is today and the struggles the women wrestlers have endured. "PrymeTyme" Amy Lee inducted the late Sherri Martel. Accepting on behalf of Sherri was one of Sherri's best friends Kathy Fitzpatrick. To say this was an emotional moment would be a vast understatement. Missy Sampson gave a 10 minute plus speech on the legendary "First Lady of Wrestling, The Walking Riot" Missy Hyatt. Missy Hyatt is one of the rare women in wrestling to work in the territory system, ECW, WCW, WWE, NWA & on the independent scene. Missy Hyatt has also been at every WSU show since WSU's inception two years ago in the DVD commentators booth. Missy gratefully accepted the award and thanked the fans. All three inductees were given plaques by their presenters. This ceremony was one of the "realest" deals in independent wrestling. The Hall of Fame was filmed for DVD. The WSU Hall of Fame "Class of 2009" DVD will also include four bonus matches that have never been released on DVD before. These matches were filmed for WSU Online TV and for the first time they will be presented in high resolution:

DETAILED RESULTS
CINDY ROGERS d. JETTA
TRIXIE LYNN d. LADY DIVINE After the match, MERCEDES MARTINEZ & ANGEL ORSINI brawled from the front of the building into the main stage. The two violently and viciously were tearing each other apart. In what was easily the most intense 10 minutes ever in WSU and what is probably the best stuff we've ever heard in an interview in WSU, Angel Orsini cut a "shoot promo" on Martinez. Orsini said she's sick of Martinez and how Martinez leeched off her. Orsini ended the promo with a thunderous "FUCK YOU" shocking the crowd and illiciting "oooooooooooooooh" reactions. Martinez fired back saying that Orsini tried cutting her hair in the back and that Orsini was jealous because Martinez was the wrestler of now while Orsini never cut it. Martinez fired back a very personal insult we will not print here, but if you see this on DVD, you will see why this had fans buzzing all during intermission.
RAIN d. MALIA HOSAKA
WSU TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH The Beatdown Betties triangle has been a storied and twisted one. With Annie Social & Rick Cataldo on opposite ends of the spectrum, Rick made it clear after this match where his loyalties lie. Cataldo felt slighted by Cotton when Cotton went with Annie Social to defend the tag belts on 2/7. Cotton & Social lost that match. Cataldo, under the freebird rule, was furious that Social lost his championship and wanted to regain it. However, WSU's newest team, called the AC Express by their peers, were able to pull out another win. The momentum this new rookie tag team in WSU has been nothing short of unbelievable. After the match, Rick Cataldo turned on Roxxie Cotton and beat her up to the dismay of the fans. Cataldo blamed Cotton for siding with Social and that Cataldo had enough of them. What Cataldo will do next in WSU is anyone's guess. Immediately after Rick's attack, Amy Lee came out and beat the shit out of Rick to a thunderous ovation. Amy said she was sick of waiting in the back and wanted Awesome Kong right now.
LAST WOMAN STANDING MATCH
AWESOME KONG d. "PRYMETYME" AMY LEE These two asskickers fought all over the building inside, before the action poured out into the streets of Boonton. These two brawled all over Main Street, where it got to the point where passerbys were running the other way for fear of their lives! (Perhaps a wrestling DVD first!) Unfortunately some cars were victims of this match, particularly a red van. The action finally came back into the ring. After eating several backfists, Lee would groggily get to her feet by the count of 9. Lee was dazed as Kong charged her with a chair. Lee passed out but Kong could not stop her momentum and the steel chair hit off the turnbuckle and ricocheted back, flooring Kong. The ref started his count and counted to ten. Many people thought Lee won the match, but since Lee fell down first, the ref ruled that Awesome Kong was the winner, and as Lee described after the match, "Kong won by a cunt hair." What fans did not know going into this match and to add to what Lee said in her post-match promo, Kong wrestled this match with a heavy heart. Just minutes before the match, Kong received news that her best friend died. Kong was offered to have the match pushed back, but Kong wanted to go through with it. If there is ever a true professional in this sport it is Awesome Kong. Awesome Kong gave WSU one of the best matches and most talked about matches in WSU's history and to wrestle this match under these circumstances, WSU is in debt to Kong and grateful. WSU and our staff sends our condolences to Kong. In a wrestling first, Kong also bowed down to Amy Lee after the match, to show an ultimate sign of respect. While these two have waged bloody war and pure brutality over one another, these two certainly respect what the other brings to the table.
TEAM WIGWAM (ALERE LITTLE FEATHER & MISSY SAMPSON) d. KYLIE PIERCE & LEA MORRISON
BATTLE OF THE SOUL SISTERS
WSU CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH MERCEDES MARTINEZ d. (c) ANGEL ORSINI TO BECOME WSU CHAMPION & TO END THE LONGEST REIGNING & DEFENDING CHAMPIONSHIP REIGN IN WSU HISTORY In what many are calling the best match ever in WSU history, Mercedes Martinez defeated Angel Orsini. This is a match that must be seen to be believed. BUY THE DVD !!!! After a year-long chase, on 3/7/09 Mercedes Martinez finally bested long-time rival Angel Orsini to become WSU Womens Champion. The ride to Martinez's reign was a long and rocky road, but with hard work, overcoming injuries and her strong spirit, Martinez finally fulfilled her dream and became WSU Womens champion. Martinez and Orsini both debuted in WSU on 9/22/07. First starting as a duo, the two quickly had a falling out when Martinez bested Orsini in the 2008 J-Cup tournament. Orsini felt she was slipping and wouldn't be able to last in WSU. A shocking and upset loss to a green Lacey Von Erich was in the back of Orsini's mind. However, Orsini buckled down and when the opportunity came, Orsini became WSU Champion when she defeated Nikki Roxx at a JAPW event. Orsini's second defense as champion was against Martinez in a violent match, that saw both participants brawl all over the building, even throwing each other from one balcony to another balcony. Orsini feigned an injury in the match. Martinez, showing concern for her former friend, stopped wrestling to make sure Orsini wasn't going to need to go to a hospital, especially since Martinez was around when Orsini got injured at another show years ago. However, it was all a ploy, that led to Orsini sneakily beating her former friend. Orsini would duck Martinez for a while, but would antagonize Martinez, by attacking and injuring Martinez's ex-protege Reyna Fire. Finally, Martinez/Orsini III would happen in October, only for the match to go to a 20 minute draw just when it looked like Martinez had the match won. Orsini would outsmart Martinez again, picking Martinez without Martinez's knowledge as her tag team partner in the WSU Tag Team Title tournament. Orsini swerved Martinez out of the tournament when she announced that Little Jeanne was really her partner. This move eliminated the chance that Martinez would not win any gold in WSU. Orsini would later show her face when Martinez was in a battle royal to qualify for a championship match, interfering, ensuring she wouldn't have to face Martinez again. On 1/10/09, Martinez vs Orsini IV happened, this time in a Steel Cage. Orsini had more tricks up her sleeve, hiring Kylie Pierce & Lea Morrison to interfere. The interference backfired when Team Wigwam fought the duo off. However, Orsini had forged a bond with Rain and Rain slammed a cage door in Martinez's face. With hook and crook, Orsini remained champion yet again. After nearly a year long struggle with matches ending in draws, interference, and tricks, a match was finally signed for WSU's Second Anniversary show. The match would be a bullrope match, which meant that neither wrestler would be able to escape from each other. Orsini wanted to "fe-masculate" Martinez by cutting her hair. It would be Orsini's title vs Martinez's hair. Since previous matches saw referees being knocked out from the action, 2-time former WSU champ Alicia agreed to referee the match to make sure no shenanigans went down. The match rules also ensured that no fluke pins would occur, as each participant had to touch all four corners before going for a pin/submission, making this match a 2-stage match and would have a clear-cut winner. In one of the most brutal and exciting matches in WSU history, Martinez won this epic and historic bullrope match to become champion. This was a match for the ages, what had everyone in Boonton, NJ on their feet for the entire match. No love was lost. After the match, many WSU wrestlers came out to celebrate with Martinez as defeating Orsini had been impossible for the past year. Everyone identified with Martinez's cause. While Orsini may have lost this match, it is safe to say this war is not over. If you're looking for a match that personifies WSU's Uncensored attitude and the pure fire, passion, realism and love for pro wrestling, this match and DVD is for you.
POST SHOW NOTES: WSU will like to thank all the fans that came to the show and to the after party. It was a great night for WSU and we were glad you came to celebrate our second birthday with us. WSU also upgraded our cameras and production team, so expect these two DVDs to be the slickest and best DVDs we've produced yet. Many fans are calling this show one of the best shows they've ever seen. Check out these DVDs to see what the hype is all about. You won't be disappointed. WSU apologizes for the cancellations of Mickie Knuckles & Melissa Coates last night. At 4AM Saturday morning, WSU was contacted by Mickie's trainer/friend Ian Rotten. The voicemail was heard around 6:30 am. WSU was told that Mickie re-aggravated her leg injury and would not be getting on the plane, as she would not be able to wrestle. WSU has proof that the flight was paid for Mickie, if there are any doubters out there. WSU took a loss on the flight, but was told on the voicemail that Mickie would like to make it up to WSU in the future. We do not want anyone thinking we false advertised her and we wish Mickie the best of luck in her recovery, as we were told she had to go to the hospital. Melissa Coates contacted WSU at 10:45am Saturday morning saying "I'm stuck in a situation and won't make the show." That is all we got from her. Since we didn't have computer access as we were in Boonton already, we couldn't announce the cancellations which is why changed the card up without notice prior to belltime. In the past when there have been show-day cancellations, we have always tried to get a replacement of the same-name value, but unfortunately no one was in the area. In the past, we've replaced cancellations with names like Dawn Marie, Gorgeous George & Taylor Wilde. WSU never has the intention of lying or false promoting anyone and we can't stress that enough. As is evident with the EWA/Balls Mahoney story, there are too many promoters who rip off talent and blatantly lie and/or bait and switch talent, and WSU does not want to be grouped in with those promotions. We hope all the fans understand that these 2 situations were out of our control. WSU didn't hear any fan complain about these two not being there , and by the feedback we got it seems that everyone enjoyed what may have been WSU's best show ever. WSU will like to personally thank on behalf of our fans and staff Angel Orsini for her service as WSU champion. During Orsini's reign as champion, DVD sales, live show gates & fan support increased. Orsini did alot for WSU and WSU won't forget it, as Orsini is one of the reasons WSU made it to two years. WSU Champion Mercedes Martinez is now living in the northeast. Promoters interested in having a WSU title defense on their show can contact WSU or Martinez herself directly. Alere Little Feather will be taking time off from WSU and all of wrestling as she undergoes procedures to cure her medical condition. The door is always open for Alere's return, as Alere has been with WSU from day one. Several fans told WSU that the HOF ceremony was one of the classiest things they've seen on an indy show so if you weren't there make sure to check it out. WSU announced return dates of 4/10 and 4/11. Check WSUWrestling.com & DOIWrestling.com for more information on those events. WSU is in talks with a former star about returning to WSU. More on that to come. WSU will like to thank all the live fans and our DVD customers for getting us to two years. Without the fans it would not be possible. WSU will also like to thank all the websites that have supported us as indy promotions can only survive through grassroots and internet word-of-mouth.
