Most of this has been covered by my man Johnny 5 and Mike Nite but I was asked to do a review of the show and give a non-partial evaluation anyway so here we go.

Venue: VFW Hall Centereach, NY
Attendance: 200-225 (people kept coming in well after the show started).
Ring Announcer: Weezer
Referees: Beard, Guy who got messed up at NYWC, and the other guy. (Johnny 5 has their real names if you care to know).

Papadon vs. Richie Tyler
Papadon apologized for his actions in recent shows and vows to be a new man. He was true to his word for most of the match until he grabbed a chair and decided to try and use it. The referee stopped him, Papadon admitted he was wrong, then as the ref went to put the chair out of the ring Papadon hit a solid straight kick to Tyler’s Richie and sent him to the mat. Winner – Papadon

After the match my favorite interviewer Jerry Fitzwater interviewed Papadon and he told us that “cheaters never win but winners are Papadon”. The quote may be mixed up but the idea is the same. After Papadon left the ring Fitzwater serenaded us with a few songs and it will forever go down with one of the funniest segments I have ever witnessed in my life. It had no impact storyline wise (yet?) but the crowd just absolutely gave him legit, Jarrett like heat, and the building was comprised of mostly non smark fans.

Dead Presidents vs. Bison Bravado & Monsta Mack
This was a good, stiff match as expected. Bison and Monsta Mack one when Boog got DP disqualified by using a chair to break up what would have been the winning pinfall. After the match Boog got the chair thrown at him while outside the ring and it make a sickening sound when it hit him.

Javi-Air vs. Sabotage vs. Deranged MATCH OF THE NIGHT
Johnny 5 said it the best when he said you had to see this match for yourself to appreciate it. Other than when Low-Ki kicked the piss out of him, this was my first time seeing Deranged and man did he work his ass off. He became a guy I didn’t like based on stories I read on here and the message boards to someone I want to see in action again. Javi looked great in this match too but Sabotage was out of place. He wasn’t bad though and infact he wasn’t exposed either as he stayed away from the pace of the match and let Javi and Deranged wow the fans then contributed in his own ways.

Now I was paying more attention to the situation with Javi, Deranged, and the fan then the storyline stuff in the ring with Sabotage, Diblaise, Reefer, & Static so let me inform you of what I saw. Basically it was a situation where a fan/friend of Javi’s was just being a mark and attacking Deranged verbally. Deranged took exception, and who could blame him, he worked his ass off. Deranged said something back and Javi intervened and those 2 had a word or 2.

This fan is a backyard wrestler and a male rat (not physically, just categorized as one) for wrestlers like Javi & especially SAT. He is a huge mark for his boys and he even had an altercation with Danny Demanto at the first VPW show over something Danny said about the SAT. To the fans credit, later on in the night he approached Deranged when he was in the crowd and talked to him face to face. It looked like Deranged was giving him the business but by the end of the conversation everything seems cool. Winner – Javi-Air

INTERMISSION (No police involved as a result of this altercation, just an early intermission)

April Hunter & JD Michaels vs. Alicia & Danny Demento
This was a legit intergender tag team match as everyone fought everyone. Danny was going to take it easy on April but she didn’t take it easy on him. April was very stiff in this match and it was awesome. The more I watch Alicia the more I like her ability in the ring. Danny and JD were same as always though. Winners – Alicia & Danny

MacDaddy Flexx vs. Eric Adams
I thought Flexx was good in this match, especially for never seeing him before. Eric basically played to the crowd the whole match and really kept it from starting. After the 2 finally got to wrestling it was basically a semi-squash. Winner - Flexx

Eug Perversion vs. Chopsaw vs. JMS
JMS eliminated first
Chopsaw def Eug to win

Eclipse vs. LI Kid & DC Diamond
Johnny Surburban turned on DC Diamond and Eclipse remained undefeated

Grim Reefer vs. Jason Static
Reefer won the match by submission when he cracked Static with the canola tray then applied the crossface to him. Let it be known that The Mic was witness to an arm going down for the count of 3 without popping back up.

Overall the show was good. I was not prepared to do a review but was asked to after the show. I am sure I missed a lot and I faded away at the end of the show because I was talking to people and getting Yankee updates as well.

I was impressed at the turn out and the workrate of the indy stars. I would like to see the students step it up a bit because in the 7 months VPW has been putting on shows, none of them improved. Xandar from Eclipse is good, but he has been good since show #1. I do not want to single them out and tell you what they are doing wrong and why I cant get into their matches because they are trying and it wouldn’t be fair. Instead I will just tell you all that while the students haven’t improved, referee Beard has. He went from awful, to bad, to “he did such a good job I didn’t notice him”. Only fair to point that out since I trashed him before.
Next show Friday December 8th in the same place, VFW Hall in Centereach with an 8pm bell time. Hopefully we get more Fitzwater.
