Interesting Letter From Fan
The DOI received the following:
Hello,
I would like to start off by saying that I enjoy reading your colums & visiting your website, and that I am not a 'writer' so what I want to say might not come out the way I want it to, but I am sure you will understand what I am trying to say.
I was a big supporter of indy wrestling at one time, I went to the shows I bought dvd's I even got a few autographs from wrestlers at the 'gimmick table' I have also ordered dvd's from your website.
Most of my friends are movie fans and have 500-1,000 movies (and in some cases more) I however was a wrestling fan and have (I haven't decided where to sell my collection yet, ebay or craigslist) over 1,500 wrestling dvd's.
I will now get to my point. The reason I am no longer a 'financial' supporter of wrestling is because I was tired of being made fun of by the wrestlers, I was not personally made fun of but when (mostly indy) wrestlers do interviews, post on websties...ect. they call fans 'marks' I don't have to explaine to you that being called a 'mark' is an insult.
The reason I brought up friends being movie fans is because, we all know movies are 'fake aka scripted' but it is ok for that two hours to believe that it is 'real', people laugh, cry & even get angry over movies, but that's ok. Actors don't come out and call movie fans 'marks' But if you do the same with wrestling you are considered a 'mark' I will never understand why (they are almost the same thing) I will also never understand why (mostly) indy wrestlers feel like they can insult the people giving them money. Any fan that shows up and pays to attend a indy show should be appreciated not insulted. I have only went to one show (czw botb 8) since August '07, I used to go to 2-3 shows per month, and purchase dvd's while I was there. I no longer do this, and I dont see myself going back.
If you read this Thank You, like I said I am not a writer so I hope you could understand my point.
Spencer.
