Monsta Macks Fifth Installment
I am here to continue my tag team column that I started last go round and I am here to talk about the Dirty Rotten Scoundrelz, the Solution and the Boogie Knights. Before I get in to that though, I have my usual whatevers to send out.............To Homicide, I know that you have busted your ass for over a decade to become known to the fans as one of the hardest working and one of the best wrestlers in the world. I also know that while not being in it and the magazine not having as much influence on the wrestling community like it used to has diminished the sparkle of being ranked in the PWI 500, it is something that is very special to you. Even though you probably wont, enjoy it, I know I will lol..........To quote Chris Tucker in the movie Friday "Mafia, you got knocked da f*** out!" lol (I think Homicide and I are the only ones who can get away with that)...........Going back to the hot women subject for a quick second, if you live in NY, then I suggest that you go in to Manhattan and just check out the scenery if you know what I mean around 34th Street or 14th Street before the end of the summer. The power that women have over men without speaking to them is just awesome. God I love those women.............Norman Smiley is the man. Who else can come out to the ring with GI Ho, grind all up on her and then have Francine, of ECW fame, give him a Bronco Buster and get paid for that? What am I doing wrong????...................To my little favorite high flyer, the Amazing Red, get well soon..............and finally I want to shout out the ROH Champion Samoa Joe on his return to Zero One, I hope you bring me back a little Geisha Girl in your bag. Now on to the column.........
Dirty Rotten Scoundrelz (EC Negro & KC Blade)
Let me just clear one thing up with all of the fans, Camel Toe Negro and the Concussion Kid Blade are far from being the best tag team. They have yet to beat the tag team of Frankenstein and the Wolfman aka Monsta Mack and "Boots" Mafia. Actually these two are on track to be one of the best teams in the world. They have all the charisma of the Fabulous Freebirds. When they come out, people just hate them. Their faces are some of the funniest most outrageous faces I have seen anyone, outside of Mafia, do in the ring. It is really something of a lost art. In the age where people will just curse at a fan to be a "bad guy", these two will make you hate them with their body language. Their mic skills are also what make's them stand out. They are funny and have really good timing. I suggest you get some of their JAPW work since it is some truly funny stuff. Now that they are with Mafia in the group La Familia, they should only improve. I know it is something he has wanted to do for a while. If given the creative control, I know they will be one of the more successful groups in JAPW's history. However Blade needs to learn to protect his head a little better. I have seen him get knocked silly on more than one occasion and none of them were pretty but they could have been prevented. If he can do that, his in ring work will shine bright. EC Negro is very talented. For someone as tall as he is, he can move very fast like a lightweight. If he gained some mass, he could also get away with being a power guy. What I like about these two guys is that they listen. A lot of newer guys think that if they know a veteran in the locker room or are friends with one, they can do whatever they feel in a match. That kind of respect and privilege is something that is earned. Even though I have been wrestling for nearly seven years, if I am in the ring with someone like Ric Flair, Samu or even Charlie Haas, I will not speak until spoken to or asked for some input in to the match. These guys are the same way. That is a great thing to be known for. These guys have the ball rolling their way at the moment. Let's see how they handle it. I think they will be just fine. C'monnnnnnnnn!
The Solution (Papadon &Havok)
I get asked all the time by people who I think the best tag team on the indies are now that Mafia and I aren't teaming regularly and while I can easily say The Back Seat Boys or Los Maximos, I always think of the Solution. I love these guys for some reason. I am always trying to get promoters to see what I see in these guys. They have had their rough moments but all teams and wrestlers have awkward moments in the ring. These guys compliment each other much like the Hart Foundation did. Havok, for those who don't know, is a tank of a human being. At 6' 2" 260lbs, he is one of the strongest guys I have ever been in the ring with. During our last match with them at PWF, he picked my fat ass up and gave me a fall away slam over his head!! During that match I was around 280lbs, so that was no easy feat. He told me that fans were coming up to him three weeks later in awe asking him about that. I always say that if his character were to pick up an attitude similar to that of a Dan Maff (yes there is a difference between Mafia and Dan Maff), he would easily be signed to the "E" and be looked at in the same light that a Doug Basham or a Ron Simmons is looked at. It helps that he spent some time with Afa at his school in PA. Papadon is very similar to Bret Hart, not because he is the best there was, is or ever will be but he can change his wrestling style with out looking out of place. He checks in at 5'10" 225-230lbs, but don't let that fool you because he is very strong and quick for his size. Much like his partner, his arms and chest are extremely thick from constantly working out. It's his legs however are what stand out to me and anyone who has felt his kicks knows what I am talking about. Having such powerful legs is also helpful when jumping off the top rope like he enjoys doing. While he can do all of this just fine and win a match, it's when he grapples with you in the ring that you find out just how tough he really is. His size alone and strength is difficult to deal with when grappling but throw in the fact that he spent many nights at the Doghouse training with Laithon, Homicide and Low Ki and you have someone who is ten times tougher to beat than he originally appeared to be. A lot of times though I think he gets caught up in how to make his match better before the match even takes place instead of letting his gut instinct take over and just let the match develop a flow. This can become a distraction for him and it shows. Other than that he is a smart wrestler (contrary to what some of the Doghouse Wrestlers nicknamed him) in the ring that has the makings of a future ring general. The Solution are a great addition to any locker room and can make any tag team division a strong one with their presence. Some of Da Hitsquad's best matches have been with the Solution. Check out the 4 way tables match from ICW, the last official PWF show from this year or any of their Jersey Championship Wrestling stuff to see what I am talking about. They recently competed on an NWA TNA dark match, which totally caught everyone off guard. It was great to see them try to branch out like that and I hope it leads to a whole lot more for these two.
Boogie Knights (Mike Tobin & Danny Drake)
Anyone who is either a major Hitsquad fan or a NY/NJ pro wrestling indy fan, you know that the Boogie Knights and DHS have a very deep history. It started way back in 2001 when people thought there was legit heat over the two due to some stupidness that happened at a show about a year before that. I wont go in to what the heat was over but Jac Sabboth, who was booking his very first show under the UCW banner, had heard some rumblings over this and decided to book a three way tables match between us, the Knights and Natural Born Killers (Booga Lou & Damian Dragon). The match was good. A little to real looking however for some people in attendance, but none the less this was the first of many times our paths would cross. It's funny because there is a saying that goes "You hurt the ones you love most". Well I wouldn't say that I love these guys because I that would be very Christopher Street of me to do. However I do like them, but even I have to admit, they do get hurt a lot when we are in the ring with them. If it isn't a table nearly ripping their ear off, a ladder opening up a second mouth on Drake's face, it's him eating a floor head first after being pressed out of the ring. To be honest with you, I get a little nervous going in to a match with them. But not all of our matches are Death Matches. We have fun in the ring too. Check out the Props Guys match from USA Pro we had with them. It had an awesome finish to a very fun and enjoyable match. These guys are tough. With all the hell they catch from us, they keep coming back. Not only that but they come back harder. Wrestling aside, Mike Tobin and Danny Drake are two of the funniest most relaxed guys on the planet. Tobin is the world's greatest Macho Man Randy Savage/Joe Pesci/Al Pacino impersonator. Name any ppv or movie, and he recites lines from whatever it is that you say. It is awesome. He is one of the few to have me, Mafia and Homicide in tears from laughing hard. Just don't call his job and pretend you planted a bomb on the roof of his job (cough cough Mafia cough). Drake is another great guy outside the ring. He brings up weird movie references that only a true retard like me would even know. He is also a great drunk to be around because his comedic level raises one thousand funny points. Both guys work hard to get noticed by the fans and when they enter the Elks Lodge in Queens NY, it pays off. These two Boys from Da Bronx tend to carry their brand of comedy in the ring leading to very entertaining matches at the least. I hope they don't take this as an insult though, but I would love to see them work as commentators for either WWE or TNA. They are just so funny to me that I know it would be a great way for them to get their names out there. No matter what they do though, it has been a pleasure to get to know these guys outside the ring and even though there have been some very scary moments with them in the ring, it has mostly been a lot of fun with them. I wish them nothing but a lot of success.
Actually I wish all of these teams success so that when they work at the Garden, they can get me backstage lol. That's it for this time round. On the next and final installment of tag teams I will write about everyone's favorite tag team, the Christopher Street Connection, the tag team that no matter how hard I try, I can never wrestle against them, the Back Seat Boys and I will write about my favorite team Special K (I know I know there are a million of them but I will write about my favorite four Dixie, Deranged, Insane Dragon and Jay Lethal). Until then, stay safe and don't get caught in another blackout with out a few condoms in your pocket :-) Peace out
