Random Thoughts

Welcome back kiddies for another lesson in life. Today, I got a variety of things I would like to get off my chest. Some of them are bound to piss people off as usual. Frankly, I don't really care due to the fact that this is an opinion piece and everyone is entitled to their own opinions. So if you don't like it, constructive criticism is more than welcome and can be sent to infamous_aym@hotmail.com.
Now onto my rant:
I have been laying low just watching the happenings of the wrestling world unfold and suffice to say, I can't be more happy that I am taking a hiatus from wrestling. The timing couldn't be better. The reason I say that is because I see less and less opportunities for people like me and other young talented individuals to get their chance to run with the ball. Now to protect the innocent, I am going to refrain from naming names and promotions. But before I go into details, I just want to make one thing clear, I know certain people are going to come out here and fake post about how I should keep my mouth shut cause I don't know anything about the wrestling business. How I have no respect for wrestling. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!!!! Well the fact is, if I went to a restaurant and had a plate of filet minion and a bowl of sh*t to eat. I can tell you for a fact that the filet minion is tasty and good and the bowl of sh*t is bad.
HOW CAN I SAY THAT???? I AM NOT A CHEF. NOR AM I A PROFESSIONAL RESTAURANT REVIEWER!!!!!!
If I go to Yankee Stadium and the Yanks get smacked by Boston, on my way home how can I discuss with my friends how Joe Torre f*cked up by letting Mussina pitch an extra inning when he was tired and in trouble or how could Torre pinch hit Ruben Sierra with some minor leaguer in his first major league game? I am not a baseball manager. I am not a major league scout.
It's SIMPLE. I am a fan.
I have been a fan for 20+ years already. I know what is good and what is bad. I can probably book shows better than certain people out there who are currently booking. I am a good judge of talent. I am a creative finish man who can come up with some very cool finishes. But the fact is, if I were still wrestling, most of you would know that. The reason why is because I wouldn't get a chance to show it. See, some promoters out there just use certain talent. They want to get asses in seats. They will even call you at home one day to tell you that they have ideas for you if you can do this for them or make that happen for them. Then, when push comes to shove and the time comes, BOOM. That chance you were promised gets taken away. It's kind of disheartening when you finally think you can break through that glass ceiling only to get shoved back down.
Lord knows if would have happened again. Because how can someone like me get the shot I feel I deserve when the above promoter decides to bring in 15 new people to work a show instead of using the talent he already has? All these people need is one shot. That's it. I understand that some people pay top see big names. I understand that guys from other states are talented. Hell, I know I want to see some of guys I have never seen before but heard rave reviews about. But the fact is, that if you have a show with 18 matches on it, not including your dark match/showcase/preshow card, I am sure you can take one ticket seller, opening match guy, rookie, etc and put him in a featured match and give him more than 3 minutes. An example of this is Vince McMahon and Triple H in the WWE. Recently WWE management held meetings before both RAW and Smackdown with each crew. In these meetings, Vince McMahon told his employees to follow the outline laid out by Shawn Michaels and HHH in their RAW main event a few weeks back. That is the styles that Vince wants his employees to work. HHH added that anyone who wants an opportunity to move up the ladder in the WWE needs to grab their chance and seize the moment.
Well the question I pose is this, HOW CAN YOU WORK THE HHH vs. MICHAELS STYLE WHEN THEY WERE GIVEN 30+ MINUTES TO WORK WITH MEANWHILE MOST RAW MATCHES GET 6 MINUTES?
HOW CAN TALENT SEIZE THE MOMENT WHEN THEY COME UP TO MANAGEMENT WITH IDEAS AND ANGLES ONLY TO GET SHOT DOWN??
The same happens in Indy wrestling. How can people showcase their talent and abilities and get over with fans when their ideas are shot down, when they are given 3 minutes in a battle royal where they can barely get off some moves cause there are 15 other people in the ring with them? How can someone show personality when they get no mic or interview time?
My proposal, all Indy feds should give one 15 minute match per show to some new talent who hasn't gotten the opportunities that they should. If they flop, then they flop. That was their chance and they blew it. No more chances. Back to gauntlet, ticket selling and opening match/preshow matches. But if they do well, let them shine. Give them more of the ball. There is absolutely no reason to bring in talent from other promotions and states to take up more roster space no matter how good or great they are. If you want to bring one new guy, fine. I am all for it. But to bring in 6 new guys for 1 show is ridiculous. It's a downright travesty. And I don't care to hear the excuse that some of these young guys today don't look like wrestlers. That just doesn't cut it with me. Some WWE guys don't like wrestlers either. Jeff Hardy hasn't looked like a wrestler most of his career and was one of the most popular superstars in the WWE. John Cena wrestles in jean shorts and Reebok Pumps. So to sum it all up, give people a chance. Just one.
SOME MINOR THOUGHTS for 2004:
Homicide doesn't get a dark match cause of a minor concussion even though he wrestled a show the night before. Something is fishy if you ask me. I think WWE feels threatened that an Indy wrestler works better than most of their roster.
I heard Amazing Red comes back in May. Too soon if you ask me. RED, I don't know if you read this but take your time brother. I don't want you to rush back and f*ck your sh*t up further.
