Match 1 –SCW Florida Heavyweight Champion Mister Saint Laurent w/Chasyn Rance defeated Flatline w/Josh Rich.
The show opens up with probably the least appealing match to me on the card. I guess it’s always good to get it out of the way though. When MSL is announced someone throws a streamer into the ring and hits him in the forehead. He actually sells it. They open up with MSL no-selling Flatline’s chops. Flatline appears to not be in the match at all. There is some sort of moment of hesitation on Flatline’s part, so MSL just looks to hit his Flipping Toe Attack out of nowhere. Back into the match, MSL catches Flatline but rather than slamming him, he just stands him back up and chops him down with a chop. It was actually pretty funny. That’s pretty much all I enjoyed though. Each guy hit some of their signature moves, for example MSL hit his funny leg drop and Flatline hit the Asai Moonsault. He almost fell. He had to readjust himself and try it again. This happens almost every Flatline match. MSL hits the Saint Laurent Driver for the win. Flatline got too much offense, as far as I’m concerned. The whole angle is that he’s supposed to get his ass beat each match and become a lovable wrestler to the fans. He got in way too much offense for that to even be the point now. After the match, MSL cuts a promo trying to get over the point that Flatline has heart and takes a beating. I didn’t really care for this at all. Josh Rich cuts a promo saying that Flatline doesn’t have heart or take a beating, thus setting up the impending Rich vs. Flatline match.

Match 2 – David Mercury defeated Aaron Epic.
When I originally looked at the card I thought that this could be the show stealer. The match definitely didn’t disappoint. This match may have been the best that I’ve seen both guys look. Early in the match, Epic is caught in a handstand while Mercury is holding his ankles. Mercury then dropkicks Epic in the groin. It was a nice spot. Epic gets it back though when he hits Mercury with the Cancun Tornado to the outside. He follows it up with a Shining Wizard from the ring apron to Mercury who had just gotten onto his feet on the outside. Epic hits a 2nd rope stomp to the midsection when they get back into the ring. Mercury gets the comeback when he hits an up and over, rolling German Suplex. You probably know it better as the Chaos Theory. This leads to a couple of Sunset Flips and reversals, which leads to a few 2 counts. Mercury then counters an Epic roll-up and takes the win. It was definitely a good match. Following the match, Mercury cuts a promo putting over Epic. They hug. The Heartbreak Xpress come out and Sean Davis cuts a promo that the Heartbreak Xpress are the only men that hug in SCW, or something to that affect. They set up a tag title match at the next SCW show, which is on January 15th.

Match 3 – Leon Scott w/Tiziana defeated Eddie Torres.
Leon Scott comes out with his valet, Tiziana, rocking an outfit with matching hat a la Alicia Keys. It was really sharp. This is my first look at Eddie Torres, so I’m not familiar with him at all. I do know that he used to work the Florida indie scene as Taurus. We get a clean break in the corner spot where Torres hi-fives Scott. One day I’m going to sit down and count how many clean breaks in the corner spots there really are. Torres gets some offense in, which leads to Scott powdering. He goes over to a coffee table (Yeah, I thought a coffee table being in the venue was odd too) and says the coffee sucks. Scott comes back and ends up choking Taurus on the top rope and giving him some stiff looking cross faces. At this point, the crowd has begun taunting Tiziana. The crowd popped in laughter rather loud because of something Tiziana related. I’m not sure what it was, but it was definitely one of the pops of the night. During Taurus’ comeback he did a Mafia Kick/spinning heel kick combo, but he whiffed on the Mafia Kick. The spinning heel kick was kind of impressive though because he is sort of a big man. The finish comes when Tiziana interferes, and that leads to Scott hitting an STO for the win. I’d like to get another look at Torres before I give any opinion on his work. I don’t really like to base anything on one night because a person could really be on or could really be off.

Match 4 – Sequel defeated Scott Davis.
Scott Davis comes out, so that throws me off because I know that he isn’t booked. I immediately run through the remaining card, and I figure out that either Rich Criado or Sequel isn’t here. I was hoping that it was Sequel not here because I’ve been wanting to see Criado return to the ring since his surgery. It turned out that Criado wasn’t here. I’d just like to state that Criado was excused for the show, and I believe that he will be at the next SCW show. Sequel comes out and does the exact post on the ropes that Randy Orton does. It irritates me to no end when guys blatantly rip off another guys’ shtick. As the match starts I immediately fall in love with Scott Davis. I know that sounds hypocritical of me because this is the first time that I’ve seen him wrestle, and I just got done saying that stuff about Torres, but it was the little things about Scott Davis that I liked. It was the little, old school things that no one does anymore. He used the rope burn. He used the thumb to the eye. He pulled down the kneepad to drop a knee to Sequel’s face. It was great stuff. Back to the match, Sequel counters with a spine buster. He goes to the top rope and drops an elbow. Jason Hexx comes out and stops the ref from counting. The ref is distracted, so this allows Davis to grab some taped up knuckles and hit Sequel. He goes for the pin, but he pulls up Sequel instead. This turns into a mistake because Sequel hits him with a swinging neck breaker dealy for the win. Hexx jumps into the ring and hits Sequel with the Angel’s Wings. Sequel essentially no sells the move as he goes back through the curtain.

Intermission

Match 5 – The SCW Southern Tag Team Champions The Heartbreak Xpress w/Gorgeous Gary Garvin defeated SCW Southern Cruiserweight Champion Johnny Schumacher and Dagon Briggs w/Se7en to retain their titles.
The match starts off early with Schumacher hitting a dropkick and Briggs hitting a spinning heel kick that makes the Heartbreak Xpress powder. It wouldn’t be a Heartbreak Xpress match if they didn’t hug each other at this spot. They do, and we now go into patented HBX stalling tactics. Honestly, I believe that this was the only action that we saw when they announced the five-minute mark of the match. It’s crazy because the crowd was really into it too. The HBX are great when it comes to that. Finally we get some action that sees Schumacher hit the Lionsault on Phil Davis and a tag team move where Schumacher does a drop toehold and Briggs follows up with a dropkick to the face. Schumacher and Briggs look really good together here. The HBX get their heat when they clothesline Schumacher to the outside. This allows Sean Davis to run Schumacher into the ring post and to body slam him hard to the floor. They work over Schumacher a bit, but then he gets the hot tag after he hit a double DDT. Garvin interference leads to Briggs chasing him around the ring. If Se7en is ringside then why isn’t she the one chasing Garvin around the ring? I understand that she’s pretty much there for eye candy, but she should at least be used in situations like this if she’s going to be out there at ringside. Anyway, the HBX hit a side slam/clothesline combination for the win.

Match 6 – Chasyn Rance defeated Josh Rich.
Rance comes out working as a total baby face. He gave fives to the fans. He pumped his fist in the air like all faces do. He played to the crowd. He did everything but kiss babies. I was just a bit confused by this because Rance is most definitely a heel in SCW. I certainly hope that they don’t come back next show, and he’s working as a heel. That would throw the crowd way off. They start the match off with some arm lock reversals and some mat wrestling. I couldn’t really see too much of this part because I was sitting in the way back, and there was this big bald guy who was in my way at the time. Rance hits 2 arm drags and a dropkick, so Rich powders. At this point Rich appears blown up. I was hoping that this wasn’t going to happen because I had a feeling that these two were going to go for a while. Rich gets back into the ring and gets the upper hand when he does an up and over, but he grabbed Rance’s head as he went under and drove him back first to the mat. I believe Rich calls it the Xplosion. Rich is working over Rance, but then he gets back dropped out of the ring. Rance hits a beautiful tope where they both land into the crowd. Rance looks to go for an Asai Moonsault, but Rich pulls his feet from under him so Rance falls face first to the ring apron. Rich does a slingshot elbow drop onto Rance back in the ring. This leads to La Magistral Cradle from Rich, which goes for a two count. We now get a sequence of moves from Rance, which include a moonsault, enziguri and a backdrop into a bulldog. I really liked the backdrop into the bulldog spot. Rance goes for the Sliced Bread #2 but Rich blocks it. Rance eventually goes for the SB#2 again, and this time he hits it. Rich kicks out at two. Rich goes for, I believe, his Falcon Arrow finisher, but Rance blocks it and hits his Sensational Spike for the win. This match was good, but I can’t lie when I say that I expected it to be better. I’ve seen both guys work decent matches, so I guess I held this match in high regard. They just didn’t seem to be on the same page tonight.

Match 7 – Manny Montana and Jason Hexx defeated SCW Southern Heavyweight Champion Ryze and Vordell Walker.
The first thing that I noticed when Ryze and Vordell Walker came out is that Walker apparently speaks Korean now. How else would you explain him talking to Ryze in the ring? Jason Hexx and Walker start off the match with some arm ringers. At this point I realize that Jason Hexx can actually wrestle. I know that sounds bad, but you have to understand that I have only recently seen him work the likes of Larry Zybyzko and Ryze. He couldn’t really display his wrestling skills with those two. Walker gets in a stiff kick to Hexx’s face before both guys tag in their partners. Ryze hits Montana with some chops, but Montana no-sold them. In fact, any offense that Ryze gave to Montana was no-sold by him. At first I just thought it was only with Ryze, but then Walker came in and was chopping and kicking him but he still was no-sold everything. They get their heat on Walker now by beginning to work his leg. Ryze tries to come into the ring, but the ref stops him. Hexx jumps into the ring and he and Montana do a very nice looking double STF to Walker. We get a hope spot from Walker, but that is immediately stopped when Hexx hits a T-Bone suplex. They begin working Walker’s leg again. Walker goes to make the tag, but Ryze kind of pulls his hand back. It wasn’t time for the hot tag, so that’s why he did it. It just looked awkward because he probably could have made the tag. Walker and Hexx are now on the ropes, and Walker goes for a Sunset Flip off the top rope. Hexx blocked it, but more so that it looked like he was scared to take it rather than he was supposed to block it. Nonetheless Walker hits a sit out Power Bomb. This leads to the hot tag to Ryze. The finish comes when Hexx low blows Ryze, then super kicks him. Montana immediately follows up with a school boy to pin the champ. It kind of looked like Ryze wasn’t pinned because he was sort of falling out of the pin. Montana, sort of, fell to the side. Following the match, Montana and Ryze begin punching each other. It was definitely a work, but some of those punches looked stiff. SCW security jump into the ring to hold both guys back. Michael Cade gets into the ring and announces that this was the first time that Ryze has been pinned in SCW. That strikes me as odd because he’s never really gotten the Korean Monster gimmick over in SCW. With me, it still goes back to the match Ryze had with Barney Rumble where he gave Rumble way too much offense. Mister Saint Laurent comes to the ring and cuts a promo where Montana challenges Ryze for a title shot at the next show. Ryze says, “I accept” and punches MSL. More brawling takes place. Everyone is finally taken away and the show is over.

Final Thoughts
-- SCW has always had this thing about not delivering on their main events. This one was different though. I thoroughly enjoyed this main event. Jason Hexx wrestled his ass off tonight. I was really surprised by his performance tonight. Ryze was used very sparingly, which was the way to go since he’s not as good as the other guys in this match.

-- Aaron Epic vs. David Mercury was an excellent match. I can’t state it enough that this was the best that I have seen both of them work. Having them tag together should be fun, but I’m hoping that they go with some sort of break up of the team so that they feud with each other. Those should be some more good matches in the future.

-- There were a few debuts tonight, well for me anyway. I really liked Scott Davis’s old school aura about him. The jury is still out on Eddie Torres and Sequel. Sequel apparently used to be one of SCW’s top guys in the past. Having said that, it comes as a bit of a disappointment to me that he pretty much no-sold Jason Hexx’s finisher. You would think that a veteran in this game would know not to do that.

-- I’d really like to see Chasyn Rance vs. Josh Rich one more time because this wasn’t the match that I was expecting from them. Hopefully if they do get another shot, then that one will be the one to deliver.

-- I hope that the Ryze vs. Manny Montana program really pans out. I’m really scared though about Ryze’s tendency to give his opponents too much and Montana’s tendency to no-sell everything. This match could totally kill off Ryze for good as the Korean Monster if this happens during the match. It’s already being questioned, so if Montana totally dominates Ryze in this match, then how could the fans ever believe Ryze to be a Korean Monster?
