The updated story is that Lidle was killed along with his flight instructor. No one else was killed in the accident.
NY Yankee pitcher Cory Lidle has been killed in a small plane crash in New York City. Lidle's plane crashed into the 20th floor of a building on 72nd and York in Manhattan. His identification has been found on the ground outside the building below the crash. Lidle, aquired by the Yankees along with Bobby Abreu from the Philadelphia Phillies, got his pilots license about 7 months ago. Three other people have been reported to have been killed in the accident. The 3 other people killed were either in the building or on the ground and were hit by debris. More info as it develops.
The DOI would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of Cory Lidle and those who lost their lives in this terrible accident.
