JCUP Predictions

The following predictions were for the J-Cup 2003. I did ehhh with my predictions. Although I heard there were some other "reporting websites" that are NOT journalists lie to the promoters of JCW that the DOI were telling people who was going to win the J-CUP. As you can see my choice of Homicide made it to the final round but was defeated by the upstart Jay Lethal.

Sorry to disappoint you losers over at that other site. But you guys are real scum! Try again next time.

Round 1 Predictions

Jay Lethal –vs.- Rob Eckos
Could be the match of the tournament. Jay Lethal is a home grown NJ guy and has been on a tremendous run as the JCW Television Champion. Rob Eckos is one of the more conceited wrestlers on the Indy circuit. Don’t believe me? Check out his website! He wrestles in a ton of feds including ECWA, 3PW, Hardway Wrestling, NWA Wildside, PCW and JCW. He is also the holder of a lot of gold. Will he have enough to defeat the streaking Jay Lethal in this battle of lightning quick wrestlers? My prediction is that Jay Lethal gets the duke.

Dixie –vs.- Jimmy Jacobs
Jimmy Jacobs is from the Midwest – Michigan actually and will be trying to make a name for himself in the North East. Also known as the Barbaric Bezerker he made is Ring of Honor debut recently. Now he heads to NJ to make a name for himself in the NEW JCW! He wouldn’t be coming this far to participate in the J*Cup if he wasn’t legit. Dixie is one of my favorite wrestlers today. He is old school and a great heel. I said it once – I will say it a million times – anyone who does a claw is ok in my book! Dixie is also a NJ guy and a very talented wrestler. My prediction here is Dixie to move on in the tourney.

CM Punk –vs.- Sonjay Dutt
CM Punk is one of the brightest stars in wrestling today. Making appearances all across the country and looking great everywhere he goes. Sonjay Dutt is a young up and comer and will be a major force to be dealt with in the future. Gotta love the Original Playa from the Himilaya but the pick is CM Punk.

Shawn Sheridan –vs.- Deranged
Showtime Shawn Sheridan has been on a big run in JCW. He seems primed to win the entire J*Cup but he has a major obstacle in his way in round 1 and that is Deranged. The deranged one has a decisive advantage in experience over Sheridan even though he has been wrestling for a few short years. Taking on so many stars already like the S.A.T., Red, Homicide, Danny Maff, Azrieal, Reefer, Quiet Storm, Monsta Mack, Mikey Whipwreck and so many more. The pick here is Deranged.

Homicide –vs.- Grim Reefer
A battle of teacher –vs.- student as the Notorious 187 takes on one of the hottest wrestlers on the Indy scene today in Grim Reefer. This is my early pick for match of the show and could really tear the house down. Reefer’s big run lately may not be enough to overcome the 5 star talent that is Homicide. Experience wins out – the pick here is Homicide.

Alex Shelley –vs.- Ruckus
Alex Shelley is another guy from the Midwest – Michigan. He is an arch rival of Jimmy Jacobs but he gets a piece of Ruckus here. Shelley also made his Ring of Honor debut recently along with Jimmy Jacobs. I do not know that much about this competitor but again – he has to be something special to be competing in the J*Cup. Ruckus on the other hand has been making some major waves in CZW in matches with the Maximos, Trent Acid, Justin Pain, and a few other J*Cup competitors in Nick Berk, Sonjay Dutt and Deranged. My pick here is for Ruckus to go over.

Johnny Ova –vs.- Livewyre
Livewyre comes home to the East Coast from OVW to participate in the J*Cup. Livewyre has been training and looks to be in the best shape of his life. His opponent Johnny Ova has been looking spectacular everywhere he goes. He looked pretty good against Dan Barry and Azrieal in ICW until Danny Maff got into the match. The prediction here is Livewyre.

Dave Greco –vs.- Slyk Wagner Brown
Dave Greco has participated in every J*Cup to date and was a major influence in its creation and development. He is a veteran of JCW. Slyk Wagner Brown is one of the best wrestlers on the Indy scene today. He is a crisp technician and a phenomenal athlete. With April Hunter in his corner he has an ace in the hole (pardon the pun Mr. Darling). In my humble opinion there are not too many better workers out there today then Slyk Wagner Brown. And anyone who knows me knows I do not playa hate – I appreciate! Slyk Wagner Brown advances.

Round 2 Predictions

Jay Lethal –vs.- Dixie
These 2 guys have worked each other numerous times throughout their careers. I am sure they consider each other a thorn in the side. Even though I will be marking out to Dixie, I think Jay Lethal is on too much of a run and will set back Dixie and advance to the Semi-Finals.

CM Punk –vs.- Deranged
Should be an amazing match. The sentimental choice is Deranged but CM Punk is another guy who is taking the wrestling world by storm right now. Deranged will make it an interesting and amazing match up but I think CM Punks size advantage will come out to be the factor in the end allowing CM to advance to the Semi-Finals to take on Jay Lethal.

Homicide –vs.- Ruckus
You have yourself one heck of a match up here. Similar gimmicks but very different wrestlers. Call me biased but Homicide is one of the best if not THE best wrestler on the Indy scene. Its going to be a “Bru Ha Ha” but Homicide will come out victorious in the end. Cop Killa Style! Semi-Finals here comes the Strong Style Thug!

Livewyre –vs.- Slyk Wagner Brown
Like I said in the first round prediction – SWB is an amazing wrestler. Livewyre has come a long way pretty quick but I think this will not be his time as more people start to appreciate what the Slykster brings to the table. Slyk Wagner Brown heads to the Semi-Finals and a dream match with Homicide.

Semi-Finals

Jay Lethal –vs.- CM Punk
Here is where I predict Jay Lethals amazing run will come to an end. CM Punk will pull out the victory and head to the finals of the 2003 J*Cup.

Homicide –vs.- Slyk Wagner Brown
This is a match up that I am dying to see. It should go down in the annals of Indy wrestling as one of the greatest matches of all time. SWB had an unforgettable match with Homicides student Mafia this past year – imagine what he can do with Homicide. No one works a cleaner match than 187. Every move he makes should be watched and studied by EVERYONE who wants to be a wrestler or report about it. In a grueling match up in which April Hunter will somehow get involved I predict Homicide will pull something out of his sleeve and stave off the challenge of Slyk Wagner Brown advancing to the finals and a date with destiny against CM Punk.

J * Cup Finals

Homicide –vs.- CM Punk
Man oh man this should be a dandy to say the least. You have yourself here 2 of the best in the world today. Both are highly spoke about yet both are very underrated. CM Punk has been all over the United States working his ass off as has the Notorious 187 – throw in Japan to boot for Homicide as well as training some of the best wrestlers out there today. I have a feeling that the fans may be rooting more for CM Punk as he is seen on PPV on TNA and may be more recognizable but this brother from another mother will be predicting Homicide to win it all. Call it bias, call it intelligence, call it ignorance. Call it whatever you like. In my opinion, Homicide can not and will not be stopped.
