What up DOImaniacs and welcome to a special McTape Review. I haven't had alot of time to watch tapes, so I was glad to catch a rare off weekend with the snowstorm. Recently, I went to Jac Sabboths "Ultimate Cards and Comics Universe" or whatever the fuck he calls it, and picked up a few things. Today I will be running down and reviewing UCW's (Later known as ICW) 5th show, from 6/30/01. Well let's get on our way.
UCW's 5th show.
From 6/30/01
This took place at The Elks Lodge and was billed as "The Last Show at The Elks Lodge." I think that was the 4th or 5th show to be billed like that lol.
Tape starts off with a black screen. This match really sucks. Maybe this is a blindfold the viewer match...
After the black space we open up with the Boogie Knights outside the Elks Lodge, talking about their upcoming match. They are pissed at Harry Slash, the UCW commissioner. While this is going on outside the Elks, we cut to inside the Elks.
Inside the Elks, the less than mobile, Harry Slash comes out with the tag belts. He starts talking about the upcoming tag matches.
Back outside, to the Boogie Knights, who are talking about Yankees kicking the Mets ass and what they are gonna do later on.
Back again to Harry Slash, who talks about the last Elks Lodge show, this time on June 30, 2001. Slash has the tag team belts in his hand. Slash talks about the tag belt tourny and the 2 three way dances later on.
Back yet again, outside to the Boogie Knights, who say they are gonna interrupt what's going on inside.
Again inside, Slash talks about the UCW title, that was created in December 2000. Slash says there was never a clean win for the belt and the title is worthless. Talks about the upcoming Low Ki vs Xavier match for the World title. He says this match will have "No screwjob finishes... Jac." Before this show, at past UCW shows, Jac was running roughshod as an evil owner, and Slash is the face commissioner. Slash wants an honorable champion. Slash says to win today, it must be pinfall or submisssion. Slash says he wants to make the titles mean something.
Boogie Knights, now inside, come in the ring and talk more about UCW and how they are going to take over.
Show opens up with highlight clips. Seeing Jacs unshaved face when you're waking up from a hangover
may not be the best site.
More clips featuring UCW wrestlers and clips which came out pretty fucking good. Included in these clips is "Hardcore" Jac Sabboth jumping off the top of the balcony to the floor.
Back to the Boogie Knights who are in the ring. Jimmy James is jerking off somewhere, as The Boogie Knights have been on 10/11 minutes of this show so far. Boogie Knights
call out Harry Slash. Boogie Knights talk about Drake beating The Backseat Boys by himself, at the last show.
Tobin runs down past events and shows. Slash cuts off Tobins whining. Slash cuts a promo
about The Boogie Knight being from The Bronx. Drake goes apeshit on Slash. Slash talks about Sabboth being
an asshole and making bad decisions. Slash calls BK hemmorroids. Slash makes BK vs
Doring/Roadkill, and if BK wins, they can do whatever they want in the company. If BK
loses however, they have to be Harry Slash's houseboys. Slash runs down past wrestling slave relationships.
He says The Boogie Knights will be his Boogie Bitches. Slash says he will give them menial tasks, like getting him his newspaper. Man
now 15 minutes have passed and it's all Boogie Knights.
UPDATE: Jac Sabboth called me, and Jimmy James is already at Jac's store
buying the tape.
UCW's First Ever Battle Royal
Prince Nana wins the battle royal.
Participants included: Tim Arson vs Canadian Pitdog vs Kevin Matthews vs Papadon vs Jim Pain vs
Striker vs Pyscho Sam Dudley w/The doctor vs Boogalou vs Low Ryda
Damian Dragon vs Judas Young vs Tom Marquez
Lots of talent in this one. Most indy battle royals today don't have the type
of talent in it that this one has. Kevin Matthews is out first, after taking a fist
from Sam Dudley. The play by play man, Nick Knowledge, sounds like he's calling
horse races at the track, not wrestling. Nana eliminates Papadon. Jim Pain is thrown out
by Judas Young. More people are dumped over the top, as Nana throws out Tim Arson.
Nick Knowledge gives the stupidest line I ever heard, "He threw him over the top
rope, like a dead lion who couldn't eat." Nick what the fuck are you drinking, absinthe?
If you are, email me at BULLSMC@aol.com and let me know how I can get some.
The pre-Lunatics,
Boogalou and Low Ryda eliminate Striker before his "happy" phase. Damian Dragon
throws out Low Ryda. We're down to 6- Marquez/Boogalou/Dragon/Dudley/Nana/Young.
Marquez back drops Dudley out. Judas Young eliminates Damian Dragon. Nana and Boogalou
team up against Judas Young and Tom Marquez. The crowd starts to get behind Prince Nana.
Nana back body drops Judas Young over the top rope. Tom Marquez hits one of the ugliest
lionsaults I've ever seen. Maybe it was ugly because I'm used to seeing Jericho hit it so nicely.
Nana throws Marquez over the top rope. We're down to Nana vs Boogalou. Nana throws
Boogalou to the ropes and Nana back bodydrops him over the top and Nana wins this.
Little Pyscho Dudley gets in the ring and runs around. Nana beats the crap out of him for good measure.
Nana rips Dudleys shirt and chops him across the chest. He throws Dudley over the top and
now Nana is now officially declared the winner.
Harry Slash says that Prince Nana will get a NorthEastern Title shot for winning.
Nana cuts a promo on Harry Slash about being in the battle royal. Nana says he wants the title match sooner than later, or else he will beat up Harry Slash.
Highlights of the battle royal are shown. This wasn't really needed.
Brian XL vs. Quiet Storm
In less than a minute, Storm has XL all wrapped up in a crazy leglock. XL gets out
and gives Storm one of his own. More chain wrestling, and we're at a standstill, and
the audience appreciates the action. Quiet Storm has XL down for the pin, but the fat referee,
Billy Caputo can't get down in time, and only gets a 2. XL rebounds up and hits a really good thunder kick.
This match has all sorts of crazy wrestling and moves, and XL hits a beautiful Asai moonsault.
XL follows it up with a Michinoku driver, but again, Ref Caputo's gut gets in the way, and
XL only gets 2. Storm hits his Storm Cradle Driver, but XL is able to kick out. Brian XL hits
a top rope West Coast Pop, and XL gets the pinfall. Really good match.
Highlights of what we just saw. That's cool to have, in case the rewind button ever gets breaks.
Danny Demanto vs El Gringo
Match starts off with a big body slam. Demanto hits the hog splash. It's enough to get 3.
Wow talk about squash matches.
Demanto cuts a promo on Jac Sabboth, and tells Jac to fuck himself. Out comes Jac and the Dynasty.
(Abundai/Devine)
Chris Devine sets up a table behind Demanto, without Demanto hearing it. Man he is fucking deaf. Abundai
drop kicks Demanto into the table. And Jac Sabboth hits the HARDCORE GORE! Hilarious.
Tom Marquez
comes out for the save and suplexes Devine out of the ring.
UCW plug for upcoming shows. I just checked my calender. None coming up any time soon.
Judas Young vs Damian Dragon
Match starts off with some arm bar submissions, with each guy countering each others moves.
Match goes back and forth and Damian gets the advantage with a german suplex. Midway during the match, canadian
Pitdog distracts Ref Hanson, and his CIA partner, Tim Arson enters the ring, and hits a sweet
looking TKO on Damian Dragon. The Pitbull gets down, and Judas Young
wraps up Damian Dragon for the three count.
The CIA coninue the assault on Dragon. All of a sudden, Dragon
gets out of the way and Pitdog hits Arson with a chair. Dragons partner, Striker runs out. Striker
lays out the CIA, and Dragons hits a frog splash on The Canadian Pitbull, giving us two matches
with back to back frog splashes.
Dragon cuts a promo on CIA, challenging them to a future match.
Again with the highlight shit.
G Street Mafia (Mike Kruel, Extacy, Bobby G., Sledge)
come out. Bobby cuts a promo bad mouthing the fans, and he gets a "You suck Dick" chant.
The fans then start a "She sucks dick" chant to Extacy. Bobby talks about all the G- Street
Mafia's accomplishments. Extacy says G-Street is going to take over UCW. What another group with
the same promo? Harry Slash comes out, because he's only been on the show 8 times. Slash's appearances
on this show, is like Mick Foley's appearances on Raw, when he was first named commissioner. He's
on alot to establish his job as commissioner. Slash gets an Adams Family chant with color-foul
language mixed in. He calls them all Adams family characters and lastly calling Extacy, Cousin It. Give credit to Slash for coming out every 5 minutes with a bum knee. You can see him legit hobbling around like a raped midget.
Anyway Slash makes a few matches. The G-Street Mafia will have to win
2/3 matches to get any shot at UCW Championship gold.
G-Street is pissed.
Harry Slash says he's had enough and it's time to have these matches. This sets up...
Homicide vs Sledge
Da Hit Squad (Mafia/Monsta Mack) come out and it looks like it's gonna be them against Sledge, but
all of a sudden, Homicide comes out from the crowd and beats the crap out of Sledge.
It's Homicide vs Sledge, and this is going to be fast.
Homicide kicks the crap out of Sledge.
He puts a chair on Sledges chest, and jumps on top of it. And gets the pinfall.
Homicide and DHS leave.
Sledge is mad and goes to get Harry Slash, but Slash says he will be suspended if he does.
G Street Mafia is down 0-1, and has to win 2 straight to get any shot at UCW gold.
The next match for G-Street Mafia is set up and out come Julio and Miss Kara setting up...
Julio Dinero w/Miss Kara vs Mike Kruel w/Extacee
Julio goes right on the attack and throws Kruel all over the building. Kruel is able to regain his
composure and judo throws Dinero around the ring. Julio then gets back up and suplexes Kruel. He
then hits the Juliopeno Popper. The G-Street mafia members are trying to interfere
and distract Julio, and Kruel attacks Julio. The chicks interfere in the match, and hurracaranna
the opposing men. Extacee and Kara square off, but their respective men hold them off. Kruel throws Julio into
into Kara and pins Julio, but Ref Jim Molineaux, someone who said Sabboth owes him money, lol,
but maybe Jac was mad with that finish and deducted his pay,
takes back the pinfall or just fucked it up. Kruel then tries again, and quickly small packages
Julio for the win.
Harry Slash comes out again, because damn it, 14 times aint enough. Slash bans Kruel from ringside for the next match.
Slash sets up Prince Nana vs Bobby. Bobby is just a manager. Slash is smiling.
Prince Nana vs Bobby
Bobby runs away from Nana, and does not want to wrestle. Nana unloads however and punches Bobby.
Bobby gets whipped into the turnbuckle, and Nana hits nothing but turnbuckle when he comes to run in. Bobby
starts to get some offense, but Nana give him a "N-word please" look, and Nana chops the ever living
shit out of Bobby G. Bobby G. is made out to be a manager, but he gets alot of offense in after the chops.
I don't get it. Bobby is supposed to be a weak manager, but Bobby knocks Nana down with a weak clothesline and then
back body drops him. Finally, Nana hits a sweet overhead suplex. Extacee goes to distract Ref Molineaux and the count isn't made.
Bobby G. comes from behind, as Nana goes to see what is going on, and rolls up Nana. Again, we got a problem with Ref Molineaux
as he counts 3, takes it back again, and then counts again. Two fucked up finishes back to back.
Slash is pissed. He says you know what Nana, let's celebrate and have sex with all the white girls in the back. Nana says I'll get you a black girl. This whole segment, which was 25 minutes long wasn't too hot and really pointless in the long run. They build Nana up as this strong mega face, and then he gets beat by a manager. And this guy is supposed to contend for the second biggest belt in UCW?
We go to a Boogie Knight flash back, as they cut promos on random people. We are then shown a Doring/Roadkill attack on the Boogie Knights.
Steve D'Angelis gets the mic, and is going to do some announcing. Angelis says a blue honda civic is getting towed in the back, and the other ring announcer runs out of the ring. Really funny and really good job by whoever came up with that. Steve D'Angelis takes over as ring announcer.
The Boogie Knights are pissed and talk shit on Steve D'Angelis. Steve D'Angelis takes his UCW shirt off, revealing an ECW shirt. The crowd pops. Steve says that yes, The Boogie Knights could beat him up, but Steve don't think these two guys can beat up Doring/Roadkill.
The Boogie Knights (Mike Tobin/Danny Drake) v Roadkill/Doring
Doring/Roadkill get on the offensive right away. The Boogie Knights couldn't get any thing off, and go
to leave. Da Hit Squad says fuck that shit, and The Boogie Knights go back to the ring. The Boogie
Knights did a great fucking job of being chicken shit heels. Roadkill is makes short work of Danny Drake with
a humongous powerslam. Doring/Roadkill hit the Hart Attack on the Boogie Knights. Boogie Knights roll out of the ring
and get some fresh air. They come back and double team on Doring. Drake hits a nice spinebuster, and Tobin
hits Doring with a Macho Manesque elbowdrop. Good double team work. Tobin gets the advantage on Doring.
Doring counters Tobin with the only move that would work in this situation - a purple nurple.
Doring hits the "Wam Bam Thank You Maam" on Tobin, and takes in Roadkill. Roadkill is A HOSS!
Roadkill unloads on The boogie Knights. Doring/Roadkill hit the "Boogie Bang" on Tobin to win the match.
Now, The Boogie Knights are Harry Slash's Boogie Bitches lol.
Harry Slash comes out for the 421st time and taunts the Boogie Knights. Commish Slash tells the
the ringcrew people to bring The Boogie Knights to his "office".
Thanks god! We got more highlights!
Announcers get some face time, as we cut to Nick Knowledge and El Shoes. El Shoes is a fantastic heel announcer. Knowledge got better as the tape got along, and stayed away from made up cliches.
Balls Mahoney vs Crowbar
Watching Balls Mahoney on this tape, after seeing him 2 weeks ago, shows how much weight he lost.
He has lost at least 150 pounds from when this show happened, to today. It's funny hearing the announcers
keep saying it's the final show at the Elks over and over again. This was the 4th or 5th ever last ever Elks lodge show lol.
Crowbar wrestles Ball Mahoney down to start off. Balls shows off his skill, and hammerlocks Crowbar.
Storm worked Mahoneys legs in this match and Balls worked on Crowbars arms. After lots of wrestling, this match
made it's second phase, and started getting crazy. Both wrestlers leave the ring and go over the guardrail.
Crowbar gets the advantage and puts a chair into Balls's throat. This match turns into a foreign
object fest, as both men get hit with weird objects such as water bottles, paper and whatever else
they can get their hands on. Midway through the match, Crowbar sits Mahoney on a steel chair.
Crowbar jumps off the ring apron and clotheslines Balls Mahoney, THROUGH THE CHAIR, not off of it.
Balls looks hurt and out of of it. Crowbar brings Balls back into the ring afterwards and starts kicking
Balls in the injured back. Crowbar puts Balls in a camel clutch, but Balls is able to power out of it.
Finish sees Crowbar hit a sunset flip off the top rope and pins Balls Mahoney. One of Crowbars
better matches in his second tour on the indy scene. This match might've been an inspiration for Balls
Mahoney to look better, and I gotta say the Balls Mahoney today is alot better than the Balls Mahoney in this match.
Balls cuts a promo. Two people heckle him, and Balls calls them out, and says he wants these two
welfare motherfuckers. He calls these fans out. One of the fans makes his way downstairs towards Balls. A
"Fuck 'em Balls, Fuck 'Em up" chant starts. The fan starts giving Balls the finger from the floor.
Security looks like they are gonna cut him off, and Balls says let him go and wants to fuck
this fan up. The fan gets escorted out. Balls thanks the fans and says he loves the elks lodge.
Missy Hyatt and Tammy Sytch come out. This was during their Wrestling Vixxxens days. Missy talks about
the Wrestling Vixxxens website which features both lovely ladies sprawled out butt naked. In less than
two years, the site got shut down. Go figure. Tammy and Missy are all over each other, touchy feely.
Tammy suggests that they give a sneak peak to the crowd. Missy says they will only give a sneak
peak to the loudest side. Both girls flash their ass to the left side. Maybe this segment was
an inspiration to Mick Foley's cheap plugs for his books lol. The girls leave after plugging their site.
No word if they plugged each other after they went to the back. Maybe the most sexual cheap plug in
Elks Lodge history.
Next up are two three way tag dances. The winner of each dance will wrestle against each other later on
to crown the first ever UCW Tag Team Champions.
Da Hit Squad vs. The FBI (Little Guido/Tony Mamaluke) w/Dina Devine vs Simon Diamond/Swinger w/Dawn Marie
Postmatch: Simon says he has a fucking problem. Dawn calls Dina a whore. Simon tells everyone that
Dawn has learned to wrestle. Simon calls out Harry Slash, and we see Slash for the 1945th time. Simon
asks Slash for a match. He wants Dawn against Dina in a match. Slash says, sure.
The Dynasty (Chris Divine/Abundai) vs The Spanish Announce Team (Joel/Jose Maximo) vs The Backseat Boyz (Trent Acid/Johnny Kashmere).
More face time with Nick Knowledge and El Shoes. Nick Knowledge seems pissed that people are
chanting for El Shoes.
Chris Chetti w/Missy Hyatt vs Tom Marquez
POSTMATCH:
Marquez said he never lost in UCW and wants a title shot. He said it's time for him to align
with the right people to get what he wants.
Fujita vs The Amazing Red
The Dynasty runs out and attacks Red. Tom Marquez runs out to make the save. All of a sudden, Marquez lays out Red.
Marquez joins the Dynasty. Good job here, as Marquez already hinted at joining a faction. The SAT come out to make the save, but Sabboth and Co. go nuts on The SAT.
The FBI come out to get the SAT, and just like that we have our UCW Tag Title match.
For the vacant UCW Tag Team Titles
Jac Sabboth takes over at the announcers table, and threatens to fire Nick Knowledge. Jac threatens
The SAT and says they won't have gold for long.
Plugs for upcoming shows, that won't be happening any time soon.
Cut to highlights of the Xavier/Low Ki feud.
For the UCW Heavyweight Championship
This match had alot of chain wrestling, and featured Low Ki with his brutal kicks. It's always
fun to watch Low Ki stalk his prey. Xavier is one of the guys who always wrestles Low Ki well.
The ladder comes into play 5 minutes into the match. Lots of brutal moves in this one.
Definitely worth getting the tape to see this match. I won't give away the whole match, since it's really good, but
I'll give the finish. Low Ki hit the Ki Krusher on Xavier, from the ladder, then grabbed the belt. Again,
I don't want to blow the match, as this match should be seen by any wrestling fan who appreciates
solid wrestling and how to work ring pyschology into a ladder match. The match was 30 minutes of excellence.
POSTMATCH: The locker room, who was watching the match from the stage, all comes to the ring and congratulates Low Ki, and puts Low Ki on their shoulders. The locker room makes their way back to, guess what, the locker room, and Low Ki and Xavier are in the ring.
Final McWord
Jac Sabboths store is at:
I'm off to the bar, thanks for reading this McTape Review.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey
Crowbar gets the mic and talks about old ECW stories and his last match in ECW, which was with
Balls Mahoney. Crowbar says if he ever wanted a guy to hump his head, Balls Mahoney would be his man.
Funny moment: Independent wrestling cough superstar cough, Josh Deely marking out and screaming the song from his front
row seat lol.
Balls says now he is going downstairs to kick this welfare kids ass.
Simon says he has a problem. Simon tells the FBI that he's Italian, Swinger is I-talian and even
Dawn Marie is I-talian. Simon says we are all paisans, and tells Da Hit Squad that they have no chance of winning.
He asks DHS to leave, to prevent embarassment, since DHS will have no chance. DHS are like
"N-word please" and open up on the opposing tag teams.
This was a really good tag team match, definitely one of the better 3 ways I've ever seen.
Funny, two people in this match, would make it to the WWE a year after this match. The ironic thing,
is the person that should be in the WWE is still wrestling on the indy scene. There is alot of talent in this match.
I wish ECW was still around, because Da Hit Squad missed breaking out as one of the best tag teams
in ECW history by 2 years.
The Boogie Knights ran out and beat up Mafia, to get back at Mafia from earlier on. Simon and Swinger
hit the Problem Solver on Monsta Mack. Little Guido pins Monsta Mack, to eliminate DHS.
The FBI and the to-be future NWA TNA Tag Champs, Simon/Swinger are left. The match goes back
and forth. Both girls look to throw down, but instead are held back by
their respective men. Dina low blows Swinger. Little Guido follows up, and hits the kiss of death on Swinger and gets the pinfall. The FBI are
now in the finals of the tag team tournament.
Joel Maximo is already the UCW Northeast Champion. This was an ok match, not better than the previous
three way. Divine rolls up Kashmere for the pin, eliminating The Backseat Boyz early on. The SAT and The Backseats
have improved alot since this match. This set up the SAT vs the Dynasty. Joel Maximo was able to get
Abundai to tap out in a surfboard, to advance against the FBI in the finals.
Pretty decent match. Lots of action in this one, even going outside of the ring. Midway through
the match, Missy kissed Chetti to give him a second wind. After some steel chair chicanery and a ref
bump, Marquez gets the pinfall.
PREMATCH: Fujita gets the Japanese respect, as streamers cover the ring. Fujita catches one
and throws it at Red.
This move was really fast and exciting. These guys worked really hard against each other. THis
match featured alot of submissions and high flying. Fujita worked Reds legs for most of the
match, and put him in unique submissions. He even almost had Red pinned with just his right leg.
Red hit the corkscrew moonsault and followed it up with the Shooting Star Press for the win.
Great match.
Both men embrace, and the fans throw streamers at Red.
The SAT vs The FBI
The FBI get the upperhand from the getgo. Finish sees FBI have the SAT down and beat.
Out of nowhere, Mikey Whipwreck returns to the Elks Lodge. He wacks the FBI with a tree, yes a tree.
The SAT hit the Spanish Fly on Mamuluke. The SAT get the pin, and The SAT are the first ever UCW
Tag team champions. Joel Maximo becomes the first ever double champion in UCW by being the Northeast Champion
and Tag Team Champion.
POSTMATCH: Guido looks like he wants to wrestle Mikey, but walks away.
Ladder Match
(c) Xavier vs. Low Ki
You can argue that this match was one of reasons why ROH got going. The Low Ki vs Xavier feud
is a feud that got people to notice UCW. This feud, which took place in UCW, later took place
in ROH, and put ROH on the map as the top independent wrestling company today. These two,
who both won and battled for the UCW Championship, would later go on to ROH and battle over the
ROH Heavyweight Championship. Both men would hold the ROH Heavyweight title, and propelled the company.
One has to wonder if Jac Sabboth didn't run into fiscal problems with his shows, if he'd be on the level
where ROH is today.
Low Ki goes to shake hands with Xavier, but instead of shaking his hand, Xavier flashes X, perhaps foreshadowing The Prophecy's disdain for the ROH handshake.
Overall, a pretty decent tape. The quality was really good, no problems there. It seemed that every match had a fucked up finish, and nothing was clean. Then again, that made the main event so much better. The tape is definitely worth picking up for the main event alone. Hearing Slash sing the Adams Family is pretty funny. The show was about 4 hours or so long, so if you like longer shows this is for you. Besides the excellent Low Ki/Xavier match, I thought the best match on the show was Brian XL vs Quiet Storm. UCW had alot of innovative ideas and used high quality talent. I'm pretty sure Jac sells this tape for $15.00, and I give two beers up to it. Watch the tapes with your friends, and make fun of Jac Sabboth wrestling, make fun of Nick Knowledges announcing, or Triple slasH all over the show. Just make sure to enjoy and appreciate the main event, as it was one of the best ladder matches in history, WWE or indy wise.
