What's up everyone and welcome to another McReview here on the DOI. This is going to be a super-short review here, as there
tons of news and going-on's here in DOI-land. We've also already posted two versions of results of this show on the site, in
addition to posting news on why the fire alarm went off at the show. With time being an issue, away we go:

"First Ever NWS Tag Team J-Cup Tournament"
Sayreville, NJ
Refs: Dillon, Edwards and someone whose name I didn't get
Ring Announcer & Circus Leader Master of Ceremonies: Dapper Joe Panzarino
Attendance: 210+
All the teams of the tournament were introduced. During the National Anthem, The Baghdad Bullies (TNT & Saddam Insane) caused
a commotion when they tried berating the American Flag. As a result, all the teams started brawling, putting heat on the
tournament and establishing The Bullies as the team to beat.
Solid opening angle, and it brought interest to the Bullies match for later on.
Round 1
Tag Team J-Cup Tournament Match
Trent Acid/Rob Eckos d. Rhett Titus/JD Smooth
Rob Eckos was replacing the missing Johnny Kashmere. I don't think the fans were disappointed, because I think fans are used
to Kashmere not showing up to non-PWU events that he's advertised for. I'm guessing/assuming his real life/job takes
precedence over indy wrestling, and you can't blame the guy, as a guy has gotta do what a guy has gotta do.
Before the match, Acid/Eckos cut a promo inviting all the girls to come to their place after the show.
This was a fun opening match, with Acid/Eckos clearly defining themselves as the heels. This match went back and forth, with
Trent laying it on Titus for a while. Smooth would eventually make the hot tag in. However, Acid/Eckos would be able to
regain their compsure and hit a double superkick on Smooth for the pinfall victory.
Not the best match in the world, but it set a good pace for the show, and that's all you can ask for with your opening match.
Round 1
Tag Team J-Cup Tournament Match
The Ebony Express (Fred Sampson/The Dark Patriot aka Formerly Chemical Ali) d. The Krotch Stomp Kings
The KSK have a name you don't forget and come to the ring looking very grungy. I'd like to see them get real gear in the
future, although their dirty look fits their names.
The Ebony Express aren't a natural tag team in NWS, but seemed to have good chemistry. Ali picked up the win for his team in
this match.
Kevin Knight came out to cut a promo, as he put on heat for his match with Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake for later on in the
show. Simple, yet effective.
Round 1
Tag Team J-Cup Tournament Match
NWS Tag Team Champions, The Sychodelic Sissies (Ace Darling/Shane Taylor) d. JT Highlander/Dublin Destroyer 2
I guess my biggest problem with this match is that you knew DD2/JT Highlander weren't going to win. They were a thrown
together tag team and didn't have the same pizazz or flash that Darling & Taylor did. The champs defeated JT & DD2 to move on
to the second round.
Round 1
Tag Team J-Cup Tournament Match
Team Supreme (Corvis Fear/Nicky Oceans) d. The Baghdad Bullies (TNT & Saddam Insane) w/King Do I Stink (AKA: The
Rainmaker/Matt Kaufman)
This was one of the better first round matches. Corvis/Nicky have made a good team, and one could argue that Nicky might be a
better partner than Rush Margera was for Corvis. With the promo earlier in the show, the crowd was into this match, and set
up Corvis/Oceans as huge faces for the rest of the run in the tournament.
TNT hit a sick powerbomb on Oceans in this match, but Team Supreme continued on. King Do I Stink made his prescence in this
match, but wasn't enough to help his team win. Corvis/Nicky hit a double leg drop on Saddam, and went on to win the match via
pinfall in a solid match which sent us to....
INTERMISSION
Nothing beats $1 Knight of Columbus Beers. Just ask some of the NWS security guards!
Round 2
Tag Team J-Cup Tournament Match
NWS Tag Team Champions, The Sychodelic Sissies (Ace Darling/Shane Taylor) d. The Ebony Express (Fred Sampson/Dark Patriot)
The champs won this match to move on to the finals.
Round 2
Tag Team J-Cup Tournament Match
Trent Acid/Rob Eckos vs Team Supreme (Corvis Fear & Nicky Oceans) went to a TIME LIMIT DRAW
This match was a back and forth battle that went to the time limit. As a result, NWS officials placed both teams into the
finals, setting us up for a triple threat elimination match in the finals.
Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake d. Kevin Knight w/King Do I Stink
Before the match, the building's fire alarm went off. I recapped this in a previous news story on DOI, and I've included the
link to that story at the end of the review. Pretty much, the smoke machine NWS uses set off the smoke dectors in the
building. We got great footage of everyone outside and comments from NWS officials during all this hoopla, which will be
released on the DOIVideo.com version of this DVD.
After the fire marshall made sure the building was safe, the event continued as the wrestlers were brought back to the ring.
I'd say only 5% of the crowd left during the 15 minute break. Beefcake looked alot better from the last time I've seen him.
Beefcake won this match after giving his Sleeper Hold to not only Kevin Knight, but to King Do I Stink.
POSTMATCH: Beefcake went to cut King's hair, but only got a few snips in.

Round 3
Tag Team J-Cup Tournament Match
Team Supreme (Corvis Fear & Nicky Oceans) d. NWS Tag Team Champions, The Sychodelic Sissies (Ace Darling & Shane Taylor) &
Trent Acid/Rob Eckos
Everyone in this match worked very hard, but with all the commotion of the fire, the match just kind of fell apart because
there was a match fuck up. First off, Corvis Fear rolled up Trent Acid and pinned him, after the ref fast counted Trent,
which looked bad and didn't make sense. The bell was rang and Team Supreme was named the winners. However, The Sissies had to
remind NWS officials on the mic that the match was supposed to continue. NWS officials did a promo on the fly with the
Sissies, continuing the match, with the stipulation being that if Team Supreme won, they would get a tag team title shot at
next weeks NWS double-shot.
With everything all thrown together now, and with the winners pretty much given away, The Sissies & Team Supreme fought for
at least 5 minutes, with Team Supreme winning with a cool ending sequence, that saw Team Supreme reverse a sling shot and
sunset flipping Taylor down for the 3 count. Team Supreme then celebrated their win as J-Cup Tag Team Tournament Winners.
Final McWord
NWS did a good job of story telling with this show. Things kinda fell apart at the end with the fire drill, but in the end it
was a fun show for NWS regulars. Team Supreme earned the win here. For me at times, it seems that once you've seen one NWS
show, you've seen them all, but NWS has done a good job of trying to shake things up as of late. It was good to see NWS
rebound after the smoke alarm went off, as when it happened in SSCW, the show and promotion were just crippled. I think fans
will come back next time and that's what counts.
Overall
A fun tournament, although I know it probably doesn't hold up against most other tag team tournies. However, there were some
fun bouts here tonight.
