We open up with the Boogie Knights in the Elks Lodge. They enter the building to find Danny Demanto. Demanto says Boogie Knights are on the VIP list for tonight. Demanto takes Boogie Knights to the ring.
We go to the ring, and the announcer is interrupted by The Boogie Knights. This is the Boogie Knights debut in UCW. The Boogie Knights cut a promo on the other tag teams in UCW. The Boogie Knights challenge Jac Sabboth to show his face. Jac comes to the ring. He's lucky he was behind the curtain, and not in the kitchen, or this would've been a waste of time waiting for him to come out. The Boogie Knights run down Jac Sabboth. Jac brings out the UCW roster. Harry Slash comes out to talk to Jac. Harry, as the Commissioner of UCW, says he is a fan of the Boogie Knights. He says he respects them. Slash says he has nothing available for the Boogie Knights, wrestling wise, but he has a job open in the commentating booth. The Boogie Knights love the idea, as they will be able to drink beer and talk smack. Boogie Knights go to the booth.
UCW Opening Montage. Good shit.
Chris Divine d. Judas Young
Prematch: Judas Young is flipping through a dictionary and reads the dictionary term for
the word Divine. Judas Young runs Divine down. Decent stuff.
Danny Demanto joins Mary Kate as a photographer. Striker and Arson are
security. Should only take 4 years before Jimmy James is the next Ref Hanson. Funny stuff.
This match was alright. It featured Divine in his earlier years, before he developed into
something big. The Boogie Knights are announcing, as they did for the rest of the tape.
Some parts of this match were a little off, but hey this is the indies, and a learning
experience. This match featured alot of mat wrestling. Judas Young really had the crowd
support and moved pretty well. Finish saw Divine have the match won with a spine buster, but
Divine reversed it, put his feet on the ropes and got the pinfall. Fat Ref Caputo missed the
feet on the ropes, and Divine steals one over Young.
Promo with Prince Nana. The sound goes in and out a bit. Nana basically talks smack on El Gringo.
Prince Nana d. El Gringo w/Miss Michelle
Nana dominated Gringo early and went ape shit on him. He discards of El Gringo in less
than 2 minutes and
gets the fast pin.
POSTMATCH: Nana cuts a pro-Africa promo, which riles up Matt Zombie! Matt Zombie, then
with long black hair, screams at Nana. Great stuff. Nana wants a real fight. This leads to...
Tom Marquez d. Prince Nana
Really good match. This match showcased alot of submissions and counter wrestling.
These guys really worked well with each other. This match even spiled to the outside, and saw
Nana hit a big splash through the guard rails. Marquez gets the win with a big time tiger
suplex. While only 7 minutes, alot got in there. Solid shit.
Boogie Knights get some face time and talk about the action.
Red d. Abunai
This match was before Red had fullblown wrestling gear, and before Red became a huge indy
name. Just another example of the old UCW knowing and highlighting previously unknown indy
talent. This match was pretty good, and featured alot of mat wrestling with aerial stuff.
After watching this, one has to wonder what ever happened to Abunai? He was on the last few
ICW shows, but aside from that no where else. Red hit a hot tope in this match, that broke
open the "HOLY SHIT" chants. Lots of suplexes and innovative moves in this one. PAW match, that
Red wins with an impressive corkscrew plancha from the top rope.
Out comes Joel Gertner. Joel cuts his unique promo which gets the crowd chanting his name. I couldn't hear the whole thing, due to the sound cutting in and out, but by judging the crowds faces, they were into it big time. Joel goes to announce with The Boogie Knights.
Da Hit Squad (Monsta Mack and Mafia) d. Natural Born Sinners (Boogalou and Damian Dragon)
Excellent tag team match, that was pretty fast and featured alot of brutality. DHS hit
some big ass power moves, such as a double gorilla press, a T-bone suplex,
a figure four frogsplash and much more.
Boogalou did most of the offense on his team, as Damian took a beating. This was a match that
proved DHS's dominance, at the time, in the tag team world of indy wrestling. While this match
was excellent, I thought Dragon/Boogalou looked weird together, and I think Boogalou with
Low Ryda and Guapo today, is a better fit. I don't think Dragon would complain about taking
Foxxy over Boogalou either lol. This is one of the reasons why they didn't win the match, because
after laying out Mafia with a tag team move, Damian went for the pin, only to have it broken up
by Boogalou. Boogalou suplexed and beat up Damian. Mafia got up and hit a side suplex. Mack
got on top of Damian and picked up the easy 1-2-3. Good match, and the turn made sense.
Definitely worth taking a look at on tape.
We cut to the back, where Boogalou talks smack on Damian Dragon.
Balls Mahoney d. Mike Kruel w/The G-Street Mafia (Extacy, Bobby, Sledge)
PREMATCH: Bobby lays out what's to come for later on, in regards to this match, and the
dominance of The G-Street Mafia in UCW. Again the sound is cuts in and out, so I miss
some of what is said. Harry Slash comes out though, looking like Mick Foley in his red
lumberjack jacket, and says he will control the G-Street Mafia. He makes a match between
Sledge/Bobby G against Low Ki/Xavier for later on tonight. Probably not the best way to use
Low Ki or Xavier on a show, but it keeps things interesting. We then are showed what happened
last month, when The G-Street Mafia attacked Low Ki and Xavier at the first UCW show,
explaining why these two want the G-Street. That was good, more tapes should show the build
to every match. While Low Ki vs anyone would probably be better than a tag match, at
least it made sense. Slash kicks Bobby G and Sledge out of ringside, and introduces Kruel
to Balls Mahoney, and we got a match.
Balls is one of those guys that you can't help to root for. His personality comes out in every
match and he always goes all out every match. While not the best technical wrestler, he is
a better wrestler than most people think and his love for wrestling is shown everytime he
is in the squared circle. This mathc really elevated Kruel as a guy who could step in the ring
with a big name. This match had solid wrestling in the beginning, but turned into a
melee real fast, as both guys beat the shit out of each other outside of the ring, and beat
each other senseless in the crowd. Kruel even jumped off the top in Balls on the outside. Gotta
also mention that cameraman Demanto was peeping at Extacy's top numerous times lol. After
brawling outside for a while, the future ECWA Heavyweight Champion, proceeded to work on
Mahoney's left leg, and put Mahoney through various submission moves and strikes to leg. Good
strategy to immobilize the big man. Balls couldn't walk too well for the rest of the match, but
was able to regain some strength, and superkicked Kruel for a long 2. The cocky Kruel then
rebounded, and superkicked Mahoney for a 2 of his own. Balls gets the win with a michinuko driver.
Perfectly Acceptable Wrestling, kudos to both. Scary thing is, that both men have gotten 10
times better since this match. If these guys were to go at it today, I think it would blow
away this match, and this match was fucking awesome.
POSTMATCH: Balls gets the mic and says this was a great match, which the fans agree to.
Balls offers his hand in a sign of respect , and Kruel shakes his hand. Extacy is pissed. Balls
then goes to beat up Extacy, but Kruel says no to that and Irish whips Balls to the ropes, only
to get kicked in the nuts. Balls then makes love to Kruel's head with a wicked chair shot
and celebrates with the crowd.
Little Guido d. Mikey Whipwreck
It's sad that UCW used Little Guido better than the WWE does. Before the match, Mikey Whipwreck
has a prematch drink of Heinz Ketchup. Yes, Ketchup lol. This was a pretty exciting match
that went outside of the ring often. Finish saw the ref get bumped. Mikey had Guido beat, but
no count was able to be made. Guido then was able to hit his Sicilian shooter on a chair for the
win. Decent match, that played to both wrestler's strengths.
For the UCW North East Championship
(c) Joel Maximo d. Angel of Da Bladies by DQ
PREMATCH: Angel spits on the title. Pretty much demeans it.
Definitely a clash of styles in ths match, that saw Angels style dominate. Lots of
"methodical" moving by Angel. Joel was able to pull off some of his offense, including
a top rope ddt and a few ranas. Finish sees The G-Street Conection interrupt the match, and
beat the crap out of Joel. Extacy low blows and rube bulldogs Joel down as G-Street lay
in the boots. The Amazing Red makes the save, and both guys leave together.
Cut to the back as Joel talks about what just happened and what he's gonna do to The G-Street connection, such as bake them a nice cake. Well, not really lol.
Sledge/Bobby G. d. UCW Heavyweight Champion Xavier/Low Ki
Xavier and Low Ki make better opponents than a tag team in this match. Low Ki kicks the hell out
of Sledge early, and Xavier pummels Sleduge some more for good measure, before being back dropped
over the top rope. Sledge then hits the worst suicide dive in history, and that's saying alot,
because I've seen alot of Papadon suicide dives lol. As far as the match, it was ok, but
Bobby G nor Sledge are even close to the level Low Ki and Xavier are on. It was pretty
unbelievable seeing Bobby G. have his way with Low Ki, then cry and get bumped hard by
Ref Jim Molineaux. Bobby G. should've been in a comedy match, not wrestling around with the
two best wrestlers on the show. Finish sees Low Ki go for the Ki Krusher on Sledge, only to
have it stopped by Xavier, who wants to win the match by himself. Ki kicks Xavier in the head,
and Sledge
hits a razors edge on Xavier for the win. Boogie Knights would've been better in this spot, ]
as they
are better cocky crybaby heels, and could've bragged about a major win. Also, this finish was
just used in the DHS vs Natural Born Sinners match, so it kind of seemed repetitve.
The G-Street are in the back cut a promo on UCW Commish, Harry Slash.
Danny Doring d. Chris Chetti w/Missy Hyatt
PREMATCH: Missy cuts a promo and talks about Chris. Missy looks nothing like she did in WCW.
Danny Doring was introduced as 1/2 of the ECW Tag Team Champions, and came out with his ECW
tag title belt. This match was pretty good, and both guys worked well against each other.
Missy Hyatt distracted Ref Molineaux on many occassions, but it didn't prevent Doring from
winning. Lots of big moves in this match such as a spinning dvd slam by Chetti and a huge
jumping DDT by Doring. After some chain wrestling, Doring gets the win with the Bret Hart/British
Bulldog Summerslam 1992 pinfall finish.
POSTMATCH: Missy is hysterical about losing. Doring calms her down, and offers to have a three
way dance with Chetti and Missy in the back. Missy gleefully obliges. Before the trio leaves,
Jim Molineaux asks if he can get in the action. Doring says you can have Missy. Great stuff.
Back to the Boogie Knights, who feel like they've done enough announcing for the evening. BK go to the ring and scream at a fan who has a Boogie Knights "Alex Wright and Disquo rules" sign. Boogie Knights demand respect and want a match. Da Hit Squad are now at the announce booth and laugh at The Boogie Knights. BK still insist on a match. This sets up...
Red and Joel Maximo d. The Boogie Knights via countout
The SAT combo of Joel and Red open up and are blazes of fire. They open up on the Boogie Knights.
Red hits a spiraling plancha on Tobin, then a huge flipping plancha from the ring to the floor
on Drake. Boogie Knights want no more of this, and bail, and take the count out loss. Drake
says he is VIP and doesn't need this. This was more of a storyline thing than anything else.
UCW Heavyweight Title Match
Low Ki d. (c) Xavier by DQ
Xavier retains the title.
I guess Ki/Xavier were also on double duty tonight. At least UCW put this on, and didn't just
give fans a weak tag match, when these two are capable of so much more.
PAW match here. The only thing that really sucked was looking at Ref Caputo's gut.
This match featured everything- mat wrestling, submission wrestling, a great story and so much
more. Xavier is nuts with his submission work, and hit a reverse full nelson on the ground with
a bridge. Sweet. Low Ki retaliated with the best kicks anywhere in wrestling today. Xavier/Low Ki
is a feud for the ages. As a matter of fact, you can buy Low Ki vs Xavier the feud, from
www.icwzone.com as well. Towards the end of the bout, Low Ki Hit the Ki Krusher on Xavier,
seemingly having the match won, but Low Ki was so beat up, he couldn't get the cover. All of
a sudden that snake Jac Sabboth came on the ring apron and broke up the eventual pinfall at 2.
Low Ki goes to get Jac, and Jac tosses the UCW title to Xavier.
Ki kicks Jac down to the floor, and as he turns around, Xavier KABONKS Ki over the head with the
belt.
Big BULLSHIT chant from the crowd, who wasn't down with the screwjob. The ref calls for the bell
and Ki wins by DQ.
POSTMATCH: Xavier holds Low Ki, and Jac goes to hit him with the belt again, but Ki gets out
and Jac hits Xavier. Xavier rolls out, and Jac runs out before Ki can get him. Jac helps Xavier
up, and Jac and Xavier make their way out. Low Ki wants a rematch after this travesty ending
on a good match. Mick Fole..er Harry Slash comes out, and agrees with Low Ki about the
ending of the match. So now you got Slash/Low Ki on one side and Jac/Xavier on the other.
Intriguing. Slash makes Low Ki vs Xavier in a steel cage match for the UCW Title.
Show closes with Gertner and DHS telling everyone later.
We go to Xavier, who is ready for Low Ki and not afraid of him.
OUt to The Boogie Knights, who don't care who they have next show, all they know is that they are going to win and make a statement. Tobin is more relaxed and Drake is furious and wants Slash. Drake says that the BK were caught off guard tonight, but next time out, they will be ready.
Little Pyscho and Boogalou cut a weird promo, as Pyscho screams about Boogalou and Boogalou is going nuts with a chainsaw. This closes the show.
Final McWord
Lots of good matches on this. There wasn't too much crap on this, the only thing I really would
question was doing similiar tag team finishes and Bobby G. having his way with Low Ki and
Xavier. The Xavier/Low Ki and Balls/Kruel match are worth getting the tape alone. Add in the
DHS/NBS and the Red/Abunai matches, you got a solid tape. I think UCW featured alot of innovative
stuff, that is being used today by other companies. They also had a way of putting matches
together with guys who you wouldn't think would work well together, but wound up having a hot
match. Overall, I'd recommend this tape, but not over the 6/30/01 UCW show.
