What's up everyone, and welcome to a quick RF Live Shoot Interview Review. Last night at USA Pro Wrestling, The Sandman

-Where does the Sandman go from here?
Sandman discussed his jail time in-depth. He was arrested for DUI in Philadelphia. He said he was put in a minimum-security
prison and alot of people knew who he was. Being The Sandman did help him out, as he did get some special treatment.
Sandman said he never really follows the business while out of jail, but he did catch Smackdown while beng in jail.
Sandman talks all about being in jail, what it was like being there, and he also talks about how he snuck in items
behind the guards back, including a cell phone, which he used to call Tommy Dreamer from time to time.
Sandman said that Raven is his favorite opponent and always a pleasure to work with. He says he talks to Raven every
day.
Sandman really put over Tod Gordon. He said that Tod was one of his best friends in the business. He said he liked
working for Tod in 3PW, but never really dealt with Jasmin. He said that he thinks Jasmin doesn't like him for
whatever reason, and wasn't too bothered about what she thought of him. He put over Tod alot here, and continued to
put over Tod as a great guy several more times in this interview.
Sandman also said he loved the Blue Meanie. He said Meanie is a great guy and always cool to be around. When later
asked about New Jack's recent comments where he buried everyone in ECW from Paul to Meanie to The Dudleyz, Sandman said
if that's what Jack said, that's what Jack believes.
Sandman talked about his run-ins with Shane Douglas. He believes that Shane Douglas really thinks that he's "The Fran-CHISE".
(Extra emphasis on the way he said -CHISE) Sandman said Shane is a good guy, but let others determine where his
career went in a way.
Sandman talked about all his drinking stories. He talked about fans trying to outdrink him in bars and at shows. He
said the fans that tried outdrinking him are probably waking up somewhere right now. Pretty funny stuff here.
Sandman said the indies aren't too hot right now. He said he likes the Florida and Texas areas. He said that he only
works for a few select guys, naming Frank Goodman and Norm Connors as two great people. He said Frank takes care of him
in USA PW and likes working for Frank, even if he is Match 33, Paragraph C, Section 2.
Sandman talked about his outside ventures, including a strip club and construction business that he both owned. He has
since sold both businesses, and made a pretty penny doing so. He said to everyone watching the shoot, that if they
think they are going to live off of wrestling, you're out of your mind.
Sandman talked about his famous son Tyler. He said that Tyler has no pyschological effects from being a part of the
Sandman/Raven ECW feud. He said Tyler is 6'1 and 220 pounds, at only the age of 15.
Sandman also talked very candidly about his drug problems, and said that is one of the reasons Vince McMahon didn't
like him. He said he once blew smoke in Vince's face. Sandman later said that his kids know what he does, and he never
lies to his kids because his kids never lie to him. Despite the whole Sandman gimmick, and the drug abuse, you do get
from watching this, that Sandman is a good father.
Sandman called Vince McMahon the smartest person in the business. Sandman says that he "gets" the business, but doesn't
think he "gets" it like Vince.
Sandmans time in TNA is discussed. He stayed away from the politics there, and just did his thing with Raven.
Sandman, when asked about the internet, said "Don't believe 98% of what you read."
Sandman talks about a TLC match he had in SSCW against Tony Devito. He talks about his daughter blowing the spot, and how
funny it was. He loves Tony.
Sandman tells some stories about why Cactus Jack doesn't like him. The hatred from Cactus towards Sandman stems from Sandmanss
substance problems. Sandman said that Jack blew spots with him and that Sandman never forgot a spot with him.
Sandman, on hearing about how well Chris Candido is doing, said, "Good for him. Straighten up brother." Sandman was
happy to hear Candido was doing some work with OVW and that Candido is somewhat a born again wrestler.
Sandman puts over the Philly fans as the most fanatical fans out there. He said those fans want to be part of every show
and made alot of shows special. One example of this is the fans chanting head and swinging heads at ECW shows. If it
wasn't for that Al Snow would've never got over there.
Sandman surprisingly says that Kevin Nash looked out for him in WCW. He was the one who came up with the Hardcore Hak
name.
Sandman said he's forever thankful to Paul Heyman. He said Paul made alot of careers for alot of people.
Sandman also talks much more in this interview.
Final McWord
Sandman answers every question quickly without beating around the bush. He was very straightforward, and when asked
tough questions, he'd only take 1-2 seconds to think, then spit out his answer.
Alot of ECW stuff was also talked about in this interview. While the first Sandman Shoot Inteview maybe more ECW
oriented, it's cool to hear what Sandman thinks now, as Sandman talks about ECW in the past, and not in the present. This
shoot is perfect to watch, especially after watching the new ECW DVD that's out there. Sandman isn't on the ECW DVD, because
it's produced by the WWE, so that's what makes this shoot a good addition to watch, after watching the ECW DVD.
Like alot of people, I was a fan of ECW. It was hard to hate ECW wrestlers because the characters were so multi-dimensional.
It could be Sandman vs Sabu, and you wouldn't care who won because you still liked both guys either way. Watching this
was great, because I was a huge fan of Sandman back when he was in ECW. It's always better to watch interviews with
guys your fan of, rather then guys you hardly know.
Overall
A solid interview, which I highly recommend for any ECW fan out there. With the ECW nostalgia wave running wild right
now, this is a great interview to sit down and just appreciate what Sandman did for ECW and wrestling. Sandman will never
be talked about in the same sentence as guys like Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart and Ric Flair, but there is no doubt that
Sandman drew a whole lot of money and has left an impact on this business.
