RING OF HONOR
What up everyone in DOIland, and welcome to another ROH McTape review. Real life has been getting busy, so that is why there has been such a delay from the last review. Thanks to everyone for your comments on the last ROH McTape review. Feel free to comment on this one on the message board if you'd like.

This was another ROH show in Glen Burnie, MD, and is the second official show of ROH's 2004 year. This show continued the Joe vs Briscoe Brothers feud. Well with that said, let's roll as I present the 1/29 ROH McTape Review.

I'm writing this report at 3:30 AM, due to me not having any other time to get it done, so if there are spelling errors, don't worry, the earth will continue to rotate.

ROH
"The Last Stand" 1/29/04
Glen Burnie, MD
Refs: Moorer, Hanson, and Turner
Ring Announcer: Steve D'Angelis
Comentators: Chris Lovie and Chris Nelson

We open up with Gary Michael Capetta with Julius Smokes. GMC introduces Julius Smokes to a new member of the ROH team, Shawn. Homicide sits in the background getting ready for his match. Smokes asks Homicide what is up. Homicide says it's one of his biggest matches in ROH. GMC asks Smokes what's up. Smokes looks baffled. GMC asks Shawn to get the big scoop tonight.

We then go to one of the newer features on ROH tapes, "Samoa Joe's Ring". Joe talks about his upcoming match with the Briscoes with Jerry Lynn. Joe talks about what is going on with Jim Cornette and the Briscoes. Joe talks about all the punishment he can deliver to a person. Joe chokes some random guy out, and let's go. He says this is what he did to Cornette at 11/1's Main Event Spectacles. Joe says he'll become a double champion tonight. Jesus, how many fucking times have I heard that?

We go to the Prophecy. Allison Danger tries to mediate a discussion between Danny Maff and BJ Whitmer. Danger says that one of them must win an upcoming match to become number 1 contender. Danger says they need to stop bickering and focus. Now, we hear them get ready for a promo. Danger talks about Daniels getting attacked by the Second City Saints. Danger vows to go on. She says to mark her words, "one of them will be the number one contender." Maff says that every second Chris Daniels isn't here, it pains him. All this pain turns into hate. Maff says the road to the title starts tonight. Maff says he has 3 objectives and they will be accomplished. Maff warns the ROH roster. The camera man says cut. BJ Whitmer now talks, "off camera", and says he will be able to beat Samoa Joe. Maff and Whitmer bicker. Danger kicks out the camera man, and we go to our first match.
Good promo, this should get interesting, especially since Daniels will be out for some time now, due to the TNA shit.

Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Qualifier
Three Rope Break Rope Rule in Effect
John Walters d. Chad Collyer
This was the second match in ROH history to feature the 3 rope break rule. The announcers go over the rules. Chad got Walters on the mat early. Chad wrestled him down and worked on Walters arm. Walters slid out, and both men circled around the ring. Both men go to a test of strength. Collyer dominates it, and works a hammerlock on Walters. Walters breaks the hammerlock by using the rope. That's Walters first rope break. The announcers play up the fact that Walters used the rope break by habit and instinct. Walters gets Colleyer and twists his arm from behind. Collyer breaks out of it and rolls him down for 2. Walters trips Collyer down, and goes for a figure four, but Collyer gets the rope. That's Collyer's first rope break, and he looks disgusted that he used the rope. Both men square off again and Collyer forces Walters down with his legs. Collyer flips over to a facelock, but Walters gets out of it. Walters then gets Collyer down and torques his knee in Collyers back. Walters then puts Collyer in a surfboard/dragon sleeper submission. Nice move by Walters. Collyer breaks the hold by sticking his fingers in Walter's eyes. Both men get to their feet again, and Walters side headlocks Collyer down. Collyer gets shoulder tackled by Walters. Collyer then comes back and gives a shoulderblock of his own. Both men then trade arm drags. We get another square off in this evenly matched contest. Walters wristlocks Collyer, but Collyer turns around and forearms Walters down with his free hand. Collyer then chops Walters. Collyer headbutts Walters and chops him again. Walters comes back and gives some chops of his own. Collyer then russian leg sweeps Walters down for 2. Collyer suplexes Walters down and gets another 2. Collyer then gives Walters a rear chin lock, but Walters powers out of it. Collyer blocks a Walters dropkick and puts Walters in a texas clover leaf. Walters gets to the ropes, and uses his second rope break. Collyer picks Walters up, and both reverse each others moves. Walters then backbreakers Collyer down. Walters whips Collyer into the turnbuckle, and Collyer falls down. Walters gets a 2 on a weak pin attempt. Walters then puts on a camelclutch/chin lock on Collyer. Collyer muscles out of it, by throwing Walters over him. Both men exchange some fists. Collyer hits a powerslam on Walters and gets 2. Collyer clotheslines Walters down and gets another 2. Walters bridges Collyer down and gets 2. Walters hits an acecrusher and gets 2. Collyer germans Walters down and gets 2. Collyer puts Walters in another Texas Cloverleaf. Walters rolls out of it this time. Walters then reverses it and puts Collyer in a sharpshooter. Collyer then crawls to the ropes and uses his second rope break. Walters then european uppercuts Collyer a few times. Walters then hits a hurricane DDT, and Collyer kicks out at 2. Walters then sharpshooters Collyer again, but Collyer breaks it up before any pain can be applied. Walters goes to the top rope and misses a cross body. Collyer then goes to the top, but Walters dropkicks him as Collyer comes down. Walters goes for another sharpshooter, but Collyer breaks it by getting the ropes. Walters then applies a reverse tarantula on Collyer and Collyer taps out. The move isn't broken due to Collyer using his three rope breaks, hence why the move is legal.
Good match, just very dry and slow. The finish was really strong. Both guys really showed what the three rope break rule was all about. I've seen both guys in better matches.

Chris Lovie takes us to a Chris Daniels promo. Daniels is at home with his daughter. Daniels talks about not being at Glen Burnie. Daniels says it will be easy to blame CM Punk for his injury, but Daniels is blaming himself. Daniels said he underestimated CM Punk and the 2nd City Saints. Daniels says the more time he spends with his daughter, the more he realizes that CM Punk is a child. Daniels explains why CM Punk is a child by recounting what Punk has done in ROH. Daniels says Punk's actions won't ruin the Prophecy's agenda. Daniels talks about the upcoming 4 way match for the number 1 contendership later on tonight. Daniels says he knows Maff or Whitmer will win it. Daniels says once he returns, he will show a side of himself that CM Punk wishes he never saw. Good promo.

Six Man Mayhem Match
Chris Sabin d. Hydro w/Becky Bayless, Caprice Coleman, Jack Evans, Sonjay Dutt, Slyk Wagner Brown w/April Hunter
This was a crazy ass match. It looks like ROH will keep these matches going as they had another 6 man match on the 3/13 show, and have a few more booked. This is the "tag team scramble" match of singles wrestling. Hydro has new Special K music. Slyk Wagner Brown and April got a huge pop in this match. This match was just fucking wild. The talent in this ring is like a who's who of indy wrestling. You have Sabin repping the midwest. Hydro is repping NJ. Caprice is repping the south. Jack is repping Canada. Sonjay is repping "Bollywood". Slyk is repping New England. What a match to have so much talent in it.

Sonjay and Sabin start sthings off with lightening quick action. Sonjay just spins all over Sabin - I don't even know how you can describe it better than that. Sonjay and Sabin go nuts with fast moves. Sabin enziguri Sonjay down, and in comes Hydro. Jack Evans then comes in. Hydro hits a huge clothesline wich sends Evans upside down and inside out. Slyk then gives Evans a shot that flips him 10 ways to Sunday. Slyk and Cparice then exchaance a sequence. Caprice comes flying with a springboard spin kick on Slyk. Caprice then punches Slyk like he's Ali. Slyk and Caprice exchange some reversals, and Slyk lays Caprice down with a Slyk Slam. Hydro then dives at Caprice on the outside. Slyk then goes for a dive of his own, but Sabin stops Slyk with a dropkick. Sabin then pescados onto the outside onto Hydro. Slyk then cannonballs over the top rope and lays out Hydro and Sabin. Caprice gets a huge jump off the top rope and splashes everyone down. Sonjay feels froggy, so he hits a perfect asai moonsault on the pile. This leaves Jack Evans all alone. You know this crazy cracka is gonna get nuts. He does, as he spirals from the top rope like he's a football on the pile. Holy shit.

Hydro and Jack finally get into the ring. Hydro puts Evans in a sharpshooter. Sonjay joins the pack by giving Evans a camelclutch. Slyk dragon sleepers Hydro. Caprice pulls at Slyk's leg. Sabin puts a head wringer on Sonjay. Wow. All 6 men fight and all go for a suplex. The three negros suplex the two honkys and hindu down. You know that's how they called that spot before the match lol. More crazy action ensues. Everything is moving like it's in fast forward. Sonjay hits a hindu press on Evans. Slyk hits a gorilla press slam, followed with a moonsault on Sonjay. Slyk and Sonjay fight on the top rope, and Slyk hits a Holy Slyk on Sonjay. Caprice breaks up the pin, and lays Slyk out. Hydro comes in and hits a implant DDT on Caprice. Sabin hits a big DVD driver on Hydro to get the pinfall.
Wild match. Not every match has to be "technical masterpieces", and this was a good way to get the crowd livened up. All 6 men looked fantastic. The women in this match really had no affect on the match, you decide if that is good or bad.

We then go to the first ever live, in-ring, "Good Times, Great Memories" with Colt Cabana. The crowd is very loud at Cabana. Cabana says there are too many white people on TV. Cabana tries doing a stand up act. He says "what's the whole deal with baby-faces?" Cabana says he's trying to do an opening monolouge, but he doesn't feel appreciated. Cabana says his material practically writes itself. Cabana plays off the crowd. He finds some guy wearing sun glasses in the crowd. Cabana says only two people wear sunglasses indoors. Blind people and assholes. That gets a big pop. Cabana keeps getting disrupted by the crowd and says "hey, I'm trying to do a talk show here." Cabana teaches us what a segueway is all about. He introduces his guests, The Ring Crew Express, Dunn and Marcos.

Dunn and Marcos come out. Cabana says he's very TV aware and makes Dunn and Marcos face the hard cam. Holy mullet alert! Some guy in the crowd who puts Frank Goodmans former mullet to shame has one of the most ugliest mullets ever! Wow, you should get the tape just for that image alone! The RCE tell Cabana they are the top tag team and will rock like a hurricane. Cabana gives RCE some names who he thinks are great teams such as Bert and Ernie. He even calls the Ghostbusters a good team. This bit is pretty funny and gets over well with the live crowd. Cabana insults RCE's haircuts. Cabana tells RCE that this is crap and that the Second City Saints are the best tag team. RCE has enough and says they are the best tag team. They said they are sick and tired of it. Colt looks scared. RCE says they won't take it anymore. RCE announce their "We're not gonna take it anymore" tour.
All of a sudden, Maff and Whitmer come out with Allison Danger and attack Colt. Colt gets out of the ring. RCE go to attack The Prophecy. Maff and BJ hit stereo burning hammers and exploders on RCE. Danger gets into it with a fan. So much for the tour.

We cut to the newly named, "Suger" Shawn Price. Price is at the door of Homicide and Julius Smokes. Prices tells us to holla back to find out the scoop. Well since this is a tape, I guess I won't be able to "holla back" unless the camera man does.

Triple Threat Tag Team No DQ Match
The Backseat Boyz (Kashmere and Acid) d. The Carnage Crew (HC Loc/Justin Credible) and Special K (Izzy and Dixie) w/Lit, Becky Bayless, Dana Dameson, Special K (The valet) and Angeldust
Carnage Crew attack Special K before the entrances can even begin. So much for a handshake. This match is just a brawl all over the place. The announcers tell us that Devito couldn't make tonight's show, hence Credible taking Devito's normal spot beside Loc. The match hardly gets in the ring, as everyone just beats the shit out of each other all over the place. Two sets of Special K teams fought, as Dixie/Izzy are the official team. Angeldust/Lit also were involved too. This match morphed into The Backseats and Carnage Crew destroying Special K. The Backseats make out with the Special K sluts in this one. We finally have only 2 men in the ring at once, as Izzy flip dropkicks Kashmere. Loc then comes in and hits a power suplex on Izzy. Angeldust then hits a blockbuster on Loc. The Backseats then hit the dream sequence on Lit. Dana Dameson gets on the screen and the announcers say she's not even legal. Justin Credible and Loc hit a spike That's Incredible on Dixie. Angeldust pulls Credible outside. The Backseats then hit the T-Gimmick on HC Loc and get the win.
Really fast match, that more or less showed that the Backseats will do anything to win. Special K really took a beating in this match. Carnage Crew were fucking pissed about losing.

Number 1 Contender Trophy Match
Four Way, First Fall to a Finish
BJ Whitmer and Danny Maff w/Allison Danger d. Matt Stryker and Xavier to become co-number 1 contenders to the ROH Heavyweight Title
Really good match. It fucking sucks donkey dick that Xavier, who has been phenomenal since returning to ROH is out with another injury. Hopefully the X-man will return at 100% and stay that way for a while. He is a major player and one of the reasons ROH took off the way it did. Matt Stryker still bores me and doesn't entertain me, but that's only my opinion.
The story of this match was Maff and BJ co-existing. Both are not fans of each other, and want to be the top dog. I wouldn't be surprised to see The Prophecy break up soon, due the bullshit with Daniels and TNA. Stryker and Xavier started this match off. Both locked up and shrugged each other off. Matt then worked on Xaviers wrist, but Xavier got out of it and worked on Stryker's wrist. Whitmer tagged in and got in there with Xavier. The announcers did a good job of talking up all the stories and angles and interactions between these four men. It really makes sense why these four were put into this type of match after listening to it, and recalling past events. Whitmer and Xavier go for a test of strength, and Xavier bumps Whitmer down. Xavier twisted Whitmers arm around his back and got a 2 count out of it. Whitmer got up and exchanged chops and fists with Xavier. Whitmer then kneed Xavier and hit a suplex. Maff then tagged himself in and got some of Xavier. He snapmared Xavier down and lit him up with a victim kick. Maff then chopped Xaviers back. Maff and Xavier then got involved in a chopfest. It is tough to win a chopfest with Dan Maff. Xavier backed out of it, and put Maff in the corner, where he kneed Maff. Maff then fell down, and Xavier drove his knee into Maff again for a 2. Maff took more hi knees then Wilt Chamberlian. I'm sure that flew over a few heads. Stryker then tags in and goes after Xavier by twisting his wrist. There is only so much amount of times twisting a wrist can be considered "ground breaking" or "exciting." Stryker adds some knees to Xaviers rib cage. Stryker shoulderblocks Xavier down for 2. Stryker goes for a boston crab but Xavier rolls out of it. Xavier then puts Stryker in a modified surfboard. Stryker then puts Xavier in a Strykerlock, but Xavier breaks it. Xavier takes a breather in the corner to rest his injured limbs. Xavier and Stryker then tag out, and we got Maff vs Whitmer in a battle of the Prophecy. Maff don't mind getting in the ring with Whitmer. Maff and Whitmer charge at each other, but outsmart everyone and knock Stryker and Xavier off the apron. The Prophecy then attack Stryker and Xavier and beat the crap out of them outside. Whitmer and Xavier fight on the outside, as Maff gets in the ring with Stryker. Whitmer and Maff show good unity. Maff hits a huge suicide dive on Stryker and Whitmer. Xavier waits for the pile to get up and springboards into a 360 splash on the three men. Stryker then gets in the ring and flips over the top rope. Even that is dry lol. Stryker and Whitmer get in the ring, and Stryker puts Whitmer in a Strykerlock. Maff looks like is going to break it up, but instead puts Stryker in a submission. Xavier goes to the top rope and hits a 450 on Maff. Nice sequence. Xavier cross bodies Whitmer, but Whitmer rolls through for 2. Stryker then yakuza's Whitmer. Maff lariats Stryker down. Xavier hits a kiss your x goodbye on Whitmer. Maff then hits a half nelson suplex on Xavier for 2. Maff goes for a burning hammer on Xavier, but winds up eating a DVD from Stryker instead. Whitmer breaks the pin attempt. Maff then accidentally nails Whitmer with a forearm. Xavier then rolls up Maff, but gets into a kick courtesy of Stryker. Maff then lariats Stryker down. Whitmer is back up and superkicks Maff. Maff falls on top of Stryker. Ref Turner counts one, and Whitmer jumps on top of Stryker and joins Maff on top of Stryker as Ref Turner counts 3.
Maff and BJ are declared co winners. Good story in this match that will carry over on the 2/14 show.

Promo time. We're with Jim Cornette and the ROH Tag Team Champions, The Briscoe Brothers. Cornette talks about his problems with Samoa Joe. Cornette dumps on Joe's heritage. Cornette says that one of the Briscoes will become a double champion. Cornette runs down the other tag teams. He says the Backseats should be sued for copyright infringement. He says the Carnage Crew are a bunch of Al Bundys, and he's not Christina Applegate. He says 2nd City Saints have a holier-than-thou attitude and you need to be dirty in this business. He didn't mention if you needed to be rotten or a scoundrel with that dirtiness. In 5 seconds, Cornette has tore a new asshole on the ROH Tag team scene. That's great. Cornette says ROH has a problem and they need more tag teams to compete with The Briscoes. I'm sure there is a Solution in all this, right Mike Zevon? Ha!

INTERMISSION TIME.
We're with GMC. GMC is with the Prophecy. Maff wigs out at GMC. Funny shit even though he's mad. GMC informs the Prophecy that they are both number 1 contenders. GMC tells The Prophecy that on 2/14, Maff vs Whitmer vs Joe for the title will happen. GMC runs down the stipulations of this match. If Joe beats either one of them, he's still champ. If one of them pins Joe, we have a new champ. If one of them pins the other, then they become the sole number 1 contender. The real star in all this is Allison Danger. Her work really shined throughout this point in the tape, and in the whole entire show. Any female manager in wrestling looking on what to do could learn from a few Danger tapes.

Alex Shelley d. Jimmy Jacobs
ROH fans are learning what Michigan fans have been talking about for the last couple of years now. I still don't like the Jacobs gimmick nor ring music, but I think he's a great wrestler. Shelley gets the advantage early on by getting some submissions on Jacobs. Jacobs knows Shelley's offense, and reverses a Shelley hold. Shelley then kicks out of Jacob's move. Shelley then put Jacobs in some neckbreaker submission hold. I don't know what to call it, and neither do the announcers calling it. At least I'm not the only one haha. Shelley and the Hussman get into more mat wrestling, but both break off. Shelley goes back at Jacobs and puts him in a side headlock. Shelley then put Jacobs in a crossface, but Jacobs breaks it by getting the ropes. Shelley and Jacobs go try to do the same move to each other as both hit the ropes and drop at the same time, then throw dropkicks at the same time. Shelley then dropkicks Jacobs down real fast. Jacobs gets back up and spins Shelley. He then knee drops Shelley. Shelley gets up and goes to the corner. Shelley then gets neck snapped to the outside. Jacobs then jumps over the top, but Shelley catches him with a knee. Shelley puts Jacobs back in the ring. Jacobs shows signs of life and pops Shelley in the face. Shelley gets pissed and hits a sidebreaker on Jacobs. Shelley then puts Jacobs in a full nelson with his legs. Nice move. The announcers talk about how innovative Shelley's moves are, and how much pain his moves inflict. Shelley ace crushers Jacobs down and hits a high knee from the top rope. In a sign of truth, the announcers talk about Jacobs/Shelley's friendship and how they both drove 13 hours together to wrestle each other in ROH. Not only does it show what people will do to get into ROH, it shows how important competition is in ROH. Jacobs puts Shelley into another submission, but after breaking it, Shelley tosses Jacobs into the corner. Jacobs then hit a neckbreaker from the top rope on Shelley. Both men then slug at each other from their knees. Jacobs slaps Shelley in the chest and drops Shelley down for 2. Jacobs goes for a mafia kick, but Shelley ducks and drops him down. Shelley then hits a tornado DDT for 2. Shelly goes for a twisting dive from the top, but eats canvas. Jacobs then hits a big boot on Shelley, but Shelley kicks out at guess what, 2. Jacobs goes for a big top rope elbow but Shelley gets his knees up. Shelley then spikes Jacobs down, but only gets 2. Shelley then puts Jacobs in a version of the cross face for the submission win.
Great match. Shelley reminds me of Chris Kanyon, as he innovates so many moves. Shelley has more submission holds than people have the names of. Both these guys really turned it up here. After watching this I think Jacobs and Stryker should change gimmicks. Let Jacobs be a serious wrestler and let Stryker scream HUSS HUSS HUSS. Both I think will benefit from that, as Jacobs is a serious wrestler, a fact that is probably ignored.

In what I thought was Match of the Tape
Homicide w/Julius Smokes d. CM Punk w/Traci Brooks and Colt Cabana
I am one of the biggest drinkers there is, and I was drinking while watching this tape, and drinking while writing this report, but you can't help yourself and want to throw the "X" when CM Punk comes out. He has the best entrance in wrestling, bar none. I can see CM Punk as a WWE Heavyweight Champion with the right push this year. The guy knows how to do it all. Homicide on the other hand, is probably one of the top 5 wrestlers in North America today. The guy can do any style and get a good match with anyone. I've seen this match before live a few times, so I was looking forward to seeing the ROH version of this match. I wasn't disappointed.

The announcers talk about the people on the outside of the ring. The crowd is behind Homicide. Homicide lets Cabana and Brooks know that he's aware of them. Chris Lovie talks about previous Homicide-Punk matches. The match has alot of stalling to start. Punk hits the ropes and Homicide arm drags him down. Homicide charges Punk and gets armdragged twice. Punk and Homicide exchange some 2 counts after reversals. This was a really fast sequence. Punk takes a break on the outside, as Homicide teases a dive. Punk takes his time getting back in the ring. Punk gets in there and works a face lock on Homicide. Homicide turns out of it and puts his elbow in Punks ribs. Homicide puts some boots to Punk, and Punk goes to the outside. Punk keeps calling for timeouts, but is ignored. Punk has his right arm bent out of shape by Homicide, but Punk gets out of it by headlocking Homicide down. Homicide has his legs wrapped up by Punk, but Homicide knees Punk in the hed and gets out of it. Homicide then twists Punks body around. Punk grabs the ropes to break the hold. Punk takes another breather on the outside. Homicide then grabs Punk and headlocks him down. CM Punk kicks out of it. These guys mat wrestle, and both get up and face off. Punk takes Homicides bandana and blows his nose in it. What a heel. Homicide chops Punk, but Punk breaks it up with a thumb to the eye. Both guys go for a dropkick, and we have another stand still moment. Both men talk to their corner men, and the announcers point out that it looks like a boxing match. Punk snapmares Homicide down and victim kicks him. Homicide gets up and does the same exact think to Punk. Both men trade more chops, and then both thumb each other in the eye. They then trade double forearms and a double clothesline. Great shit. Both bail to their corners for more advice. Punk argues with Ref Turner. Homicide forearms Punk in the face, and jumps fromt the top but no one is home. Punk gets Homicide out of the ring, and suicide dives at Homicide. Punk takes Homicide and slams him right into the steel guardrail. Ouch. Cabana mimmicks Smokes. Punk backbreakers Homicide down for 2. Punk then gets Homicide in the corner and footwashes him. He then drives his boot in Homicides face. Homicide is able to get up and forearms Punk down. Homicide then drives a knee in Punks face. Homicide then gets Punk down and puts him in a grapevine. Punk won't tap, so he gets kicked. Homicide then puts Punk on the top rope and superplexes him down for 2. Homicide goes for the cop killa, but Punk gets out of it and puts Homicide in a sleeperhold. Homicide reverses it, and sleepers Punk, but then Punk reverses Homicide and re-sleepers Homicide. This really was a sleeper match of the show. Punk slams Homicide down while in the sleeper, but Homicide gets up and backdrops Punk down. Homicide backdrops Punk and clotheslines him down. Homicide then gets Punk out of the ring, and hits the tope con hilo on Punk. Fans loved it. Homicide brings Punk in the ring and just kicks him in the fucking face. Homicide bounces off the rope and gives him another one. Punk then gives Homicide some boots of his own and knocks Homicide down. Punk goes to suplex Homicide but Homicide lands on his feet. Punk then tosses Homicide down for 2. Homicide then piledrivers Punk down for 2. Homicide then puts Punk in a STF. Crowd wants the tap but Punk gets the rope. Homicide goes for the copkilla, but Punk flips out of it, and hits a million dollar dream suplex for 2. Both reverse each others moves, and Homicdie clotheslines Punk down for 2. Homicide then hits a diamond cutter and Punk bounces back up. Homicide then hits a copkilla and gets the three.
Another great match. The copkilla is one of the best finishers in wrestling.
POSTMATCH: Both corner men attend to their respective wrestler. The Prophecy comes out and attacks Cabana. Homicide stands in the ring as BJ and Maff look to enter it. Homicide won't let The Prophecy add any more damage to CM Punk in the ring. Homicide shakes Punk hand and leaves the ring.

For the ROH Tag Team Titles
(c) The Briscoe Brothers w/Jim Cornette d. Jerry Lynn and ROH Champion Samoa Joe
PREMATCH: Cornette during the intros just riled up Samoa Joe with his antics. Joe recieved streamers for this match. Cornette looked for his streamers, but there was none. Cornette gets the mic. Cornette introduces The Briscoe Brothers. Cornette is great at what he does. Cornette tells Joe that he knows they have had problems. He says Lynn/Joe make a great tag team, but they aren't as great as the Briscoes. Cornette asks for a clean match, and may the best tag team win this match.

Man how many tag title shots has Joe had in ROH? He must have the record. Jay and Joe started this match off. Joe pushed Jay down. Joe got Jay down and put him in an armbar. Jay wouldn't tap. Both men then tagged out. Jerry and Mark exchanged some wrist locks. Jerry headlocked Mark down. Jerry twists Mark's arm. Cornette asks Ref Garry if this is legal. Jerry tells Cornette if you wrestle in WWE you get fired for it. Oh snap. Samoa Joe tags in. Joe headbutts the shit out of Marks hand. You could break someone's hand with that. Mark moves around Joe. Cornette tells Jerry this is how you win a match, and if you actually did that you'd still be with the WWE. Double snap. Lynn got back in there and headlocked Mark. Mark then ate a shoulderblock and another headlock. Joe got back in there and chopped Mark. Mark takes a huge beatings in these Samoa Joe tag matches. Joe gave Mark some forearms and then hit a high knee in Marks chest. Jerry and Joe take turns clotheslining Mark in the corner. Jay finally tags in, but he gets drop toe holded by Jerry. Jerry then gets Jay down and dropkicks him. Both men reverse each others moves in a sequence, but Jerry wins it with a reverse DDT on Jay. Joe then got in the ring and hit a huge tope on Jay Briscoe. Joe then went for his ole ole ole kicks on Jay. Mark then dived from the top rope and knocked Joe down as he went for them. Nice. Cornette got in the ring and was baffled by what was going on. Jerry then goes to get Cornette, but Mark gets Lynn from behind. Mark takes Lynn down and gets a 2 count. Mark then put Lynn in a rear chin lock. The Briscoes then hit their backbreaker/top rope leg drop combo on Lynn for 2. Jay then put Lynn in another chinlock. Lynn wouldn't tap. Lynn finally got out of it and goes to splash Jay, but Jay put his knees up. The Briscoes then continued to work on Lynn. Joe finally breaks up a pinfall by Mark Briscoe on Lynn. Mark then split Lynn's arms. Lynn finally shows signs of life as he goes for a pinfall on Mark. Mark wasn't phased though, as he dropped Lynn over the top rope. He gets another 2. The Briscoes show their true spirit of tag wrestling as Jerry hasn't even seen the other half of the ring during this beating. Mark looks like he's going for a shooting star press, but Lynn goes to the top. Mark pushes Lynn off the top. He goes for the SSP, but eats mat. Both men are down. Both men tag, and we got Joe vs Jay. Joe kicks Jay and then slaps him like a bitch. Joe then hits a powerbomb/STF combo on Jay. Lynn cuts off Mark from making the save. Jay gets the rope. Joe then lariats the shit out of Jay, but Mark breaks the pin. Lynn 'rana's Mark over the top rope. Cornette gets in the ring and looks to hits Joe with the racket. Joe takes the racket away and forearms Cornette. Jay gets the racket and hits Joe with it. The ref turns around after looking at Jerry/Mark. Ref Garry Moorer counts three, even though it looked like Joe might've got out at 2 and 8/9ths.
Joe is fucking pissed off. He island drivers Ref Garry for reffing like Jimmy James. Lynn then gets him some and cradle piledrivers the 78 pound stud, Ref Garry.

POST SHOW PROMOS:

Samoa Joe is pissed. He is mad because he lost his last shot at the tag belts. Joe says he's mad. Joe says those belts were his. He says he got cheated tongiht. Joe says that finish wasn't honorable. Joe has had it with Jay Briscoe. He challenges Jay to a steel cage match. (Which happened on 3/13 and was amazing.) Joe said there will be no Cornette or Mark Briscoe to interfere. Joe then talks about The Prophecy and the upcoming 2/14 triple threat match. Joe says he'll win that match too. Joe says he's pro wrestling. All of a sudden, The Prophecy with Allison Danger attack Samoa Joe. The Prophecy looks united. They say that's for Chris.
Back in the Prophecy locker room, Danger tells us that The Prophecy was 3/3 for tonight. They won their match, attacked the Second City Saints, and attacked Joe. Danger looks happy.

Shawn Price catches up with Homicide and Smokes. Homicide says this might've been his last ROH match. He says he's going away for a long time. Homicide says he doesn't know when he's coming back, but when he does there will be hell to pay. Homicide says he's ROH, and loves ROH. Price hypes up the next ROH show and that's it.

Final McWord
Honestly, this seemed like a transition show for ROH to set up the two big upcoming shows. (2/14 and 3/13) There is still some great shit on it though, as Homicide vs Punk, the tag title match, and Shelly vs Jacobs are all exceptional. I didn't think this show was as strong as other shows such as 11/29, 1/10, 11/1 and others, but this show is still better than most shows you'll see on the indy scene today. The biggest problem ROH will face is outdoing themselves as they've had such strong shows.

I like how ROH takes a simple concept and makes it seem more special, such as the 6 man mayhem match and tag team scramble matches. The 6 way here tonight, will probably be looked back on as a forefather for others.

There is alot of good stuff on this tape, but other shows such as 10/25, 12/27 or 8/16 probably should be higher on your priority list. I still wouldn't miss out on this as the final three matches were excellent. The Briscoes are the best tag team in North America today. No one can wrestle like these guys. I think the best match of Joe and his partner vs Briscoes series is the 11/28 show with AJ Styles.

There is so much going on in ROH right now from storylines and angles to real life bullshit. The way ROH handles themselves and faces adversity is commendable. ROH has changed the wrestling business, and for that, wrestling is better.

Overall
If you've never seen ROH before, (what are you waiting for?), this is probably a tape to wait on. If you're a hardcore ROH fan, and a hardcore wrestling fan, this is a do not miss tape. The price is certainly worth it. ROH continues to produce the best episodic tape series in the U.S. today. By missing one tape, you miss alot of developments in the ROH product.
