ROH
War of The Wire 11/29/03
Framingham, MA
Refs: Moorer, Hanson, Koehner and Turner
Ring Announcer: Steve D'Angelis
Comentators: Chris Lovie and CM Punk
We start off by going backstage and seeing GMC on his cell phone. Someone is telling him that Steve Corino is here. GMC hangs up the phone and finds GMC by the entrance way. Corino cuts a promo with GMC. Corino says he can't believe it had to come to this, a barbed wire match. Corino talks about his previous barbed wire match with Terry Funk. Corino recaps the entire heat between himself and Homicide, which stemmed from 2002. Corino talks about the Backseat Boys coming to ROH, the 1 year riot, the slap to the ear and more. Corino talks about not being able to hear. Corino says this will be the most violent match in professional wrestling. He tells Homicide he'll be mince meat when it's all over. He tells Homicide no one cares about him. He calls Homicide nothing but a money train. Corino says that Homicide owns his whole career to Corino. GMC informs Corino that camera crews will be following Corino all night. Corino says he does't care. GMC said he wanted to inform he wanted to be a fair journalist. Corino says there is no such thing as journalism. He says message boards are for idiots and that there is no journalism in restling. Corino promises to end this feud tonight.
We cut to Samoa Joe. Joe talks about talk that he has shown cracks in his championship armor. Joe says he's aware of the word. He says the words only make him stronger. He says he is here to stay. He says he's been burned by people but it will not phase him. Joe hypes up his match with AJ Styles. He says he will not be responsible for what happens to AJ Styles.
We go back to GMC as he is running around looking for Homicide. GMC finds Homicide through
a sea of fans. Homicide is with Julius Smokes. Smokes talks and the fans are behind him.
GMC asks Homicide about his match. Homicide says screw Corino. He promises to hurt Corino.
Homicide tells GMC that he doesn't want to be bothered by the camera crew when GMC informs
him about the camera crews. Homicide says he doesn't care about the code of honor today
and it's all about ending Steve Corino. Homicide tells GMC he doesn't want to be bothered.
Both guys did a great job of hyping up the main event, that I was tempted to even fast forward
to that match. If I wasn't reviewing this tape, I probably would've skipped right through
everything else.
The Backseat Boyz (Trent Acid/Johnny Kashmere) d. Hotstuff Hernandez/Fast Eddie
Acid and Hernandez start the match off. Hernandez just tosses him 1/2way across the ring. Acid
tries again to lock up, but just gets tossed 1/2way again. Hernandez turns into a one man
wrecking crew as he lays out both Backseats with a shoulder block. Acid runs off the ropes
and tries for something, but he winds up getting leapfrogged, then clotheslined by Hotstuff.
Kashmere tries his luck, and pokes Hotstuff in the eye. Kashmere tells Hotstuff to run the
ropes and try to knock him down. Hotstuff hits the ropes, but Acid pulls down the top, so
Hotstuff hits the floor. Great double teaming. Eddie gets in the ring and eats some
Backseat double teaming in the form of an irish whip dropkick, and 4 knees to the face.
Eddie and Hotstuff take a break on the outside, but both Backseats jump from the ring
over the top rope and lay out both of them. Back in the ring, Acid toys around with Eddie
with a big time forearm. The Backseats double team Eddie with a double elbow and double
dropkick. CM Punk is pretty funny on the commentary calling these moves gay. Lovie and Punk
talk about the Lucy angle. Back in the ring, Eddie is finally able to fight off Acid, and
lays him out with a swinging neckbreaker. Both men are down and Lovie wonders if Eddie, who's
legally blind, knows what corner to go to. Well he does, and tags in Hernandez. Hernandez wipes
out the Backseat Boys with a pair of double clotheslines. Hernandez dumps both Backseats over
the top rope. Hernandez tries to overhead suplex his partner into the Backseats, but it
don't come out that hot. Hernandez saves the crowd from killing him, as he hits a huge suicide
dive over the top rope. All four men are down. Both teams get in the ring eventually. Fast
Eddie hits the Irish Car bomb on Trent Acid. Not even as close to being as good as Dan
Barry's version. After more double team moves by Eddie/Hernandez, the Backseats rebound, and
double clothesline Hernanadez over the top rope. The Backseats then hit the T-Gimmick on
Fast Eddie for the win.
Good tag team match. Hernandez really looked like a threat in this one. CM Punk had some good
quips on the commentary as well. The Backseats are one of the best tag teams today.
Cut to Corino and crew in his locker room. LeGrande talks to Corino and says he has the advantage tonight. Corino gets a phone call on his cell. Corino says he's a little nervous and tells the person that he'll call back. LeGrande gives Corino some scouting advice. Corino says he has to make sure the people don't get into it. If the people get into it, then Homicide has a chance. This would've been a perfect promo to air in front of the live crowd. Colby even talks shit on Homicide in this promo!
We now go to Homicide's locker room. Homicide is getting dressed for his match.
Scramble Match
Special K of Dixie, Hydro, Angel Dust, Hijinx, and Lit d.
The Carnage Crew (Loc/Devito), The SAT(Jose and Joel Maximo) and Slugger
I hate reviewing these matches because it is nearly impossible. This match was fucking wild.
Jose and Angeldust start off this match with some fast wrestling. Jose gets the upperhand,
and both men team out. Dixie and Loc get in there. Loc hits a powerslam/brain buster
on Dixie. Both men tag out, and Joel and Hydro get in there. Hydro hits a lucha armdrag
on Joel. Punk says the same thing that everyone else is wondering - Why is Jay Lethal wasted
in Special K? Joel hits a HUGE clothesline on Hydro, which has Hydro fliping inside out.
Both men tag out and now Lit is in there with Devito. Lit goes for an acid drop but winds up
getting the living shit kicked and struck out of him by Devito. Devito just OWNS Lit. The last
2 to not enter the ring then enter, in the form of Hijinx and Slugger. Hijinx has no chance
and realizes it. Slugger slaps him around and gives him a samoan drop. Slugger tags in the
Carnage Crew. The Crew put the hurt on Hijinx with a boston crab. Dixie tries helping out
but he gets put into some sort of a camel clutch. Then we see all faces give submissions
to all the heels. Watch the tape it's impossible to describe lol. We then see
Special K hit 4 suicide dives on the Carnage Crew and the SAT on the outside. Slugger then
teases to suicide dive everyone. He doesn't and the crowd boos. Slugger then goes to the top
rope. He jumps off the top and knocks out the 9 wrestlers on the floor. All men are laid out.
At this point, CM Punk says he has to go and get ready to win the gauntlet. Ray Murrow now
takes over on the commentary. The SAT wipe out Angeldust. This match is so fast. Hydro
and Hijinx hit a front lungblower on Joel. Everyone but Hydro tries to dropkick Slugger down
at once. Slugger winds up clotheslining all 4 of them down. HOLY SHIT is up next, as
the SAT and Carnage Crew all simutaneously powerbomb 4 members of Special K from the top rope!
Devito and Joel hit a spike piledriver on Lit for 2. Jose and Devito then spanish fly Hydro!
The Carnage Crew and SAT both fight over who gts the pin. During their fight, Dixie rolls
up Devito and grabs some tights for the pin.
Another great scramble match. You never see the same stuff over and over, and it's a challenge
for anyone who gets in the ring to keep it fresh, like these guys did tonight. This was probably
Sluggers finest match in ROH, but with Hotstuff Hernandez around, I guess there was no reason
to keep Slugger around in ROH.
GAUNTLET MATCH
CM Punk d. Jimmy Rave
PREMATCH: CM Punk talks about his big win over Raven just a day previous, on 11/28 at the
Conclusion. (Tape Review is available under the tape review section under my staff page)
Punk says he will this gauntlet. He says he will get a title shot soon. He still talks about
finding out who attacked Lucy.
Allison Danger joins Chris Lovie in the commentators booth. Rave and CM Punk start off with
some chain wrestling and exchange a few 2 counts. Danger says she's scouting Punk for future
battles with The Prophecy and Second City Saints. Lovie keeps asking Danger in the booth
questions. Danger then storms off and says she doesn't need the 20 question routine. Ray
Murow comes back to the booth. Punk in the ring slowly works on Rave with some submissions.
He then gives him an elbow to the face. Punk then mule kicks Rave. Rave then stops Punk in
his tracks by working on his left knee. Rave strikes Punks knee then puts it in a stretch.
Punk is able to break the hold by grabbing the ropes. Both men get into corner, and Rave
puts
Punk left leg over the middle rope. he starts kicking away and stretching it. Punk is able to
fight Rave off, but 2 seconds later gets put into a kneelock. Punk forces Rave to the outside.
Punk goes to give chase, but winds up having his legs taken from under him. Rave then
ranas Punk into the steel guardrail. Both men fight on the outside, and Punk tosses Rave
into the guard rail. Back in the ring, CM Punk rams Rave's neck into the ropes. Punk then
hits a STO on Rave for 2. Punk and Rave exchange chops, but Punk snapmares him down
and dropkicks him in the face. Rave starts slapping away at Punk, but Punk gives Rave
a sleeper hold. Rave fights out of it and goes back to Punks knee. Punk then gets back body
dropped and takes a knee driver from Rave. Rave then puts Punk in an Indian Death Lock. Punk
reverses the hold and puts the pressure on Rave. Both men get up, and Punk puts Rave
in some version of the shoulderbreaker. Rave goes for a shining Wizard, but Punk puts Rave
in a boston crab. Rave rolls out of it and gives Punk a shining wizard for 2. Rave puts Punk
on th top rope. Punk low blows him. Punk then hits a Pepsi Plunge on Rave for the pin.
Great match. Easily the best ROH match in Rave's career. The Pepsi Plunge is one of the
coolest moves in wrestling.
Matt Stryker d. CM Punk in the second match of this gauntlet
The announcers talk about Punks injured leg. Punk hobbles around the ring. He baits Stryker
in, and Punk gets him down, and wails away. Punk then does this huge sequence where he outsmarts
Stryker. Nice shit there. Stryker however, outsmarts Punk by pretending to tie his shoe, but
then springing up and going for Punks leg. Punk gets the rope to break the hold. Stryker continues
on Punks left knee. Stryker goes for a DVD, but Punk wiggles out. Stryker then forearms Punk
in the face for 2. Stryker hits a big kick to Punks face. He puts Punk in a Strykerlock.
A Stryker lock is a mix between an indian death lock and a figure four. Punk taps out
to the Strykerlock.
Decent match, and Punk took a beating on the left leg and did a good job of showing
the pain he felt.
Matt Stryker d. Colt Cabana in the third match of the gauntlet
PREMATCH: Punk is walking out as Cabana is walking in. Punk tells Cabana to take this fucking
seriously and win the fucking thing. Funny antics with Cabana's music as well.
Cabana jokes around with Matt to start. Matt then throws Cabana to the outside. Cbana is pissed
and gets into an argument with some fans. Matt is mad that Cabana isn't taking this seriously.
He goes to walk out of the ring too. Finally, they get locked up in the middle of the
ring.
They exchange some hand presses and submissions. Cabana goes to work on Matt with some kicks
and knees. He gets Matt down and camel clutches him. Cabana then whips Matt to the rope and
gives him the butt butt. Matt shows signs of life and tries to reverse rana Cabana, but instead
rolls through for a 2 count. Cabana methodically pounds away at Matt. Cabana pushes Matt off
the top rope and hits a twisting press for 2. Cabana knees Matt down. Cabana goes back to the
top, and Matt does the Kurt Angle run to the ropes and overhead suplexes Cabana down to the
mat. Matt then lays some chops into Cabana. He hits the Lou Thesz press on Cabana. He then
lionsaults Cabana for 2. Matt powerslams him down for 2. Matt goes for the DVD but Cabana
gets out of it. Cabana goes for the Colt 45 but that is reversed. Cabana then hits
a version of the emerald fusion for 2. Cabana goes to run his knees in Matt's face, but Matt
hits the DVD for pin.
BJ Whitmer d. Matt Stryker to win the Gauntlet Match
The story behind this one is that both of these guys won their respective blocks of the Field
of Honor Tournament. This was a preview before their FOH finals match on 12/27/03. This
match was alot better than their 12/27 encounter. Whitmer works over the already gassed
Stryker with a camelclutch. He then gives him a rear chinlock. Whitmer allows Matt up and
knocks him back down. He then suplexes, then northern lights suplexed Matt down. Whitmer
then gives Stryker a neckbreaker for 2. Matt shows some signs of life with a spinning elbow.
Stryker looks tired after already winning 2 matches. Both men exchange forearms. He kicks
Whitmer down and sentons him down for 2. Both men fight on the top rope. Whitmer pushes
Stryker off the top rope, and Stryker goes crashing to the floor. Stryker looks laid out.
Whitmer loosk on as referees and ROH officials look at Stryker. Whitmer puts Stryker in the ring.
Whitmer then hits the wrist clutch exploder and pins him.
Wow, what a foreshadowing to not only Whitmers eventual heel turn, but a mean streak to come.
I liked the finish of this match alot as it made Stryker look strong and made
Whitmer look like he'll do anything to win. Great stuff here.
Intermission Time
We go to GMC. He takes us to the back where AJ Styles and Jimmy Rave have a verbal altercation.
Rave blows AJ off and walks away. GMC talks about AJ's match with Samoa Joe.
Cut to Steve COrino with his posse. He says he's ready for his match. A phone rings and LeGrande picks it up. Corino asks who it is, and LeGrande says Brandon. LeGrande and Coino talk about the match with Homicide. LeGrande says it's all fair in love and war. Corino stretches for his match.
Cut to Homicides locker room. Homicide is stretching for his match. J-Train hypes him up. Homicide looks very prepared. Homicide says he's like Mike Tyson, and he'll eat Corino's children. J-Train screams yea yea yea, and we go to our next match.
The Outcast Killahz (Oman Tortuga/Diablo Santiago) d. Slyk Wagner Brown/April Hunter
We join this match in progress. Slyk backbreakers Santiago. Punk is back in the commentators
booth, and talks about his knee. April gets in the ring and splashes Oman for 2. Slyk
and April both go to work on Slyk and April. Slyk gets bumped out of the ring. The OCK
hit a russian legsweep/yakuza kick combo on April to get the win. Match is only 1 minute long
on tape. Sad, as Slyk and April could be used better in ROH.
POSTMATCH: Xavier comes out, as Slyk is draped over April. Slyk is trying to revive her.
April looks like she is choking. Xavier gets the mic, and says typical Boston, losers. He
calls everyone from Boston a loser. As a die hard Yankee fan, it's hard to dispute Xavier's
argument. Xavier says he's from NY and the Boston crowd says YANKEES SUCK. Morons. Xavier
lets these moronic fans know all about the Yankees dominance. Xavier says the Red Sox
joked, and so has John Walters. Slyk and April exit out. It's funny how one of the guys
who trained Walters has to sneak out of the ring so his student can get in there. Walters
gets the mic. Walters says Boston is his friggen house. He says he doesn't like to be
disrespected in his crib. He says Xavier is full of cheap heat. Walters says he'll take
the offer though, and he'll be The Red Sox, and Xavier can be The Yankees.
John Walters d. Xavier
Well this match was nothing like baseball, because the Red Sox won. Eh fuck it, I'm a Walter's
fan. Walters starts the match off by slapping Xavier in the face. Walters slams Xavier down.
Xavier bails from the ring, as Walters is focused on winning this match. The Walters/Xavier
feud is one of the best rivalries today. Xavier stayed on the outside, and baited Walters
into him. Walters quickly then clotheslined Xavier down. Xavier then got up and worked
some chops into Walters in the corner. Walters turned Xavier around and hit some European
uppercuts. Walters then put Xavier up on the ropes and ranas him for 2. Xavier springs up and
tosses Walters over the top. Xavier then springboards to the outside with a 720 side twist
press. Wow. Xavier is the man. Xavier then tosses Walters into the rail. Back in the ring
Xavier works on Walters some more with chops and dropkicks. Xavier then puts Walters
in a modified Mexican stretch. Xavier then hits Walters with an arriba forearm. Xavier then
hits a gravedigger on Walters. Xavier then hits some shoulder socket breaker. Never saw it
before. Xavier then hit a brain buster for 2. Xavier then drives some vicious knees in
Mr. Walters face. Walters is able to crotch Xavier on the ropes and he goes for the lungblower,
but instead drops Xavier on his neck. Both men were laid out. Walters then hits a ddt, and
another lungblower for 2. Both men hit each other some more, and it sets up an Xavier slop
drop from the top rope. Xavier goes for a 450, but he misses. Walters then hits a powerbomb
for 2. The commentators then take a shot at WWE's Monday Night Raw. Eh, it was deserved.
A ladder is then brought out. It's propped up against the ring post on the outside.
Both guys then make their way inside. Xavier goes for a kiss your x goodbye, but Walters rolls
up Xavier for 3.
Another great match in the series. This feud might not win a feud of the year, but it was one
of the most solid feuds that produced paw match after paw match.
POSTMATCH: Xavier jumped Walters. He literally snapped a chair over Walters head and laughed
about it. Xavier then added a few more strikes and chair shots on Walters. Xavier then threw
a ladder on Walters. The referees then came out to break up the attack and assist Walters
to the back.
ROH TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
(c) The Briscoe Brothers (Jay and Mark) d. Danny Maff/Chris Daniels w/Allison Danger
Daniels starts things off with Jay Briscoe. He puts him in the corner and pounds on him.
Mark breaks things up with a springboard dropkick. He then gets off a northern lights suplex
for 2. Maff then gets in there and attacks Mark. Mark fights him off and The Briscoes hit
a backbreaker/legdrop combo. Jay then goes to work on Maff, and Maff bails out. Jay dives to the
outside and gets him. Daniels then hits an asai moonsault on the duo. Mark then goes to the top
and hits SSP on all three men. Back in the ring, Danger tries to interfere, but gets a Briscoe
slap to the face. The Prophecy take advantage as Maff goes to work on Mark. Daniels then
suplexes Mark down, and twists his neck. Daniels tags in Maff, and Maff puts some kicks
to Marks back. Jay tries to break it up, but the ref holds him back. Maff and Daniels
then double team Mark. They keep working over his neck. Daniels and Maff just put Marks
neck through a series of twsits and torques. Daniels then came in and suplexed Mark down.
Danger finally gets her shots in and slaps a fallen Mark in the face, as the ref
was distracted with Jay. Classic double teag team wrestling from The Prophecy. Mark goes
to look to make a tag, but Daniels cuts it off by jumping on Jay. Daniels then toys
with Mark, even showing a tag, before russian leg sweeping him down. The Prophecy keep
putting more moves on Mark, by whipping him into the corner, and Maff diving in with a cannonball.
Daniels goes for a spear, but accidentally gets Maff. This gives Mark a chance to tag Jay.
Jay goes to work, and knocks both members of The Prophecy down. He gives Maff 2 Yakuza
kicks. Jay then hits a double dropkick in Maffs face. This gives Mark a chance to wake
up and he goes to work on Daniels. Daniels reverses Marks offense with an STO. He then gives
Mark the best moonsault ever for 2. Jay then gets Daniels and suplexes him down. Jay then
hits a DVD on Daniels. Maff breaks up the pinfall. Maff then hits a fisherman neckbreaker
on Jay for 2. Maff then hits a backdrop driver for 2 on Jay. Maff goes to the top rope
to hit a move. Mark Briscoe hps up to the top and hits a top rope diamond cutter for 2 on Maff.
The Briscoes then hit a back breaker/springboard knee combo on Daniels. Fucking nice.
Mark then hits a urinage on Daniels. Daniels looks pinned, but Allison Danger
runs in. Mark looks like he is going to hit a torture rack driver, but Daniels breaks it up
and throws Danger on Mark, and Danger DDT's him down. Daniels goes for the cover but gets
2. Jay breaks up the Prophecy's flow with a yakuza kick to Danny Maff. Jay grabs Allison
Danger and falcon arrows her down. Maff runs in and clotheslines Mark. The Briscoes then
flapjack Maff, and lift him up and slam him down again. The Briscoes then hit the doomsday
device on Maff. Daniels breaks up the pin and enziguris Jay. Daniels then hits the
angels wings on Jay for 2, as Mark breaks up the pin. Daniels then STO's Mark for 2.
Jay and Daniels try to go for different finishers, but Jay hits the Jay Driller on
Daniels for the win.
EXCELLENT FUCKING TAG TEAM MATCH! The Briscoes are tag team wrestling. One of the best
tag team matches of the year.
For the ROH Heavyweight Title
Samoa Joe d. AJ Styles
PAW match. Holy fuck on a stick this was a great match. It's funny that AJ went on to win
the pure championship, after losing to the ROH champion. I guess we know which belt is bigger
now! Joe and AJ feel each other out with some impressive quick wrestling. AJ and Joe do
some mat wrestling, and switches and reversals, but both wind up on their feet at the
end. Joe gets AJ down and goes for some kicks, but AJ reverses it into a leglock submission.
AJ then gets Joe down with a slam and gives him a knee drop. AJ goes for more offense, but
Joe kicks AJ in the head, sending AJ to the floor. Joe then hits a suicide dive on AJ.
I have never seen a big man do a suicide dive like that. That was just fucking AWEsome.
On the outside, Joe grabs a chair and puts AJ in it. He goes for his ole kick, but Styles
gets up. Joe then superkicks AJ down. He goes for another ole kick, but AJ jumps over the
chair. Both men then get itno the ring, and AJ wrenches JOes left arm. He goes to clothesline
Joe, but Joe STO's him down. Joe then gets AJ into the corner and gives him some vicious
kicks and foot washes to the face. AJ fights to his feet, and both exchange punches. Joe just
throws AJ down for 2. Joe then hits a spike powerbomb for 2. Joe then puts AJ in
a crossface, but AJ gets the ropes to break it up. Joe then gets AJ down and hits his
rolling pin for 2. Joe then kicks Aj in the face three times, before blitzing him with
forearms. AJ then stops Joe's flow with a kick to the head and a springboard diamond dust.
AJ then gives some kicks of his own to Joe's face. AJ then gives Joe a backbreaker.
AJ then puts Joe in a submission hold, but breaks it. He whips Joe to the ropes and Joe
clotheslines him down. Both men then slap each other and punch each other in the face in fury!
AJ then kicks Joe in the head and both men are on the mat. AJ then crotches Joe on the rope
and looks to set up a superplex, but Joe fights him off. AJ then powerbombs Joe down. He
holds it and then hits the STYLES CLASH for 2. The crowd is going nuts. AJ can't believe he
didn't win. AJ then gets an island driver for his efforts and Joe gets 2! Joe then drives
some knees to AJ's face. AJ fights it off by hitting a discus clothesline. AJ then goes
to the top rope. Joe meets him there and knocks AJ down. Joe then hits the muscle buster!
Wow! Joe then puts AJ in a STF. Joe then chokes AJ out. The ref calls AJ out due to passing out.
Another great title fight for Joe. Joe is ROH. Everytime Joe wrestles, he makes ROH and the
ROH title belt mean something.
Cut to the back with Special K. Dixie brags about the victory over the SAT/Carnage Crew/Slugger from before. They are all in a bathroom. They are all cracked out.
Cut to Corino. Corino is ready for his match. Corino's men are all solemn before the big fight. LeGrande tells Corino to make it fast and make it brutal.
We go to Homicide's locker room. Homicide is dressed up in his old school Natural Born Sinner clothes. Smokes hypes up Homicide. Homicide said lests go and we go to the ring.
We then go to still shots and a commentary/recap from Chris Lovie talking about the Prophecy vs Second City Saints feud. We see what went down with Punk and Daniels.
In a Barbed Wire Rope Match
Steve Corino w/LeGrande, Alex Law and Ricky Landell d. Homicide w/Julius Smokes
PREMATCH: Bobby Cruise does the ring introduction. Cruise introduces Corino with no bullshit.
Excellent move by ROH, the comedy definitely wasn't needed here. D'Angelis announces
Homicide.
Maybe the best match in this feud. Mathces like this is why this won DOI Feud of the year.
Words really can't describe this match. I hate to sound cliched, but what can I say? This
is the fucking match of the tape. The ring ropes are all barbed wire. There is table
set up in the corner with barbed wire around it. There are gratings of fence around the ring.
This match was a fucking bloodbath. The visual before the match started looked like the calm
before the storm. I gotta be honest, out of all the wrestling I've watched, this is one
of the matches where I just sat in awe. Punk isn't in comedy mode either and talks about
the seriousness of this match. Homicide and Corino slap each other around, and Corino is
forced outside, as he slips underneath the barbed wire. Lovie recaps the history of this
feud, but if you don't know it, you can't really appreciate this match right. Homicide
gets Corino down, and Homicide slaps him in the ear. Both mean break up going into the wire
by stopping short. They do hold the barbed wire , but both have taped up hands. Homicide
shows how sharp the barbed wire is, by taking a piece of pizza and shredding it on the barbed
roped wire. Homicide tries some fast pins but only gets 2's. Corino slugs at Homicide
and knocks him down. He tries putting Homicide in the ropes, but Homicide breaks it up with his
foot. Corino struggles getting a hold of Homicide, but he does, and throws him into the
ropes twice! Corino then takes the barbed wire and rips open Homicides skin. The blood is
dark red and it pours down Homicide's face. Corino opens up Homicide's cut and puts his teeth
on it. The blood is so thick that you can hardly see Homicide's face. Corino then slingshots
Homicide into the barbed wire. Corino grabs a barbed wire bat, and Homicide grabs a chair.
Homicide swings the chair first and gets Corino with it. Homicide then ddt's Corino on the
bat. Homicide then pulls out a fork and STABS Corino in the head with it repeatedly. Barbaric.
Corino is now busted open. Homicide punches Corino with the fork. Corino bails to the outside,
and Homicide follows him, and chucks him into the guardrail. Homicide then punched Corino
in the ear. The fans faces in attendance tell the whole story, as they sit there without knowing
what will happen next. Both men get in the ring, and Homicide isn't done with the fork as
he continues to stab him. Homicide then stabs Corinos ear. Homicide then takes the bat and
wacks Corinos ear with it. Homicide then sinks his teeth into Corinos head. Homicide then
lifts Corino's head and dumps it into the barbed wire. Homicide then takes the barbed wire
bat and SMASHES it over Corino's head. Corino finally breaks up Homicide's offense up by
monkey flipping him into the barbed wire. The barbed wire tears Homicide's clothes. Corino
then whips Homicide into the guard rail and Homicide hits hard and lands in a barbed wire
fence. Corino then suplexex Homicide into the barbed wire. Corino grabs a chair. Smokes
breaks it up and LeGrande and Smokes get into it. Both men at this point have poured enough
blood that they could donate a pint to everyone in China. Corino gets in the ring and
gives everyone the finger. Homicide throws Corino into the corner and just dives into him. SICK.
Homicide kicks Corino in the head a few times. Homicide hits a wrist clutch suplex on Corino
RIGHT INTO A BARBED WIRE TABLE! HOLY SHIT! Corino kicks out at 2. Corino gets up and hits
a comataze for 2. Corino then puts Homicide ina cobra clutch. Homcide fights it off and goes
straight back into the already broken table. This takes out some of the barbed wire as well.
Homicide then hits a diamond cutter for 2. Homicide then throws a fence at Corino and it
knocks Corino in the head. Corino fights off Homicide and whips him into the barbed wire.
LeGrande gets in the ring. The World 1 kids throw in 4 chairs. LeGrande sets up a metal fence
on 4 chairs. Corino then suplexes Homicide through it, as Smokes chases LeGrande out.
Both men lay down, but Homicide gets up first, hits a shining wizard then puts Corino in
a STF. LeGrande goes into a bag and throws RUBBING ALCOHOL in Homicide's face! THAT IS FUCKING
TWISTED! SMokes has had enoough and he attacks LeGrande. Corino clotheslines Homicide down
for a 1 count. Corino then piledrivers Homicide twice. Corino then puts on protected
gloves. He takes a loose strand of barbed wire and wraps it up around Homicide. He then
puts Homicide in a cobra sleeper, with the barbed wire around Homicide's adams apple.
Smokes goes to throw the towel in, but Homicide says no. Corino then arches back and wraps
his legs around Homicide, as he chokes him with the barbed wire. Smokes then throws in the towel.
POSTMATCH: Both parties camps get in the ring. Both men are laid out. The visual of this is
just jaw dropping.
We then cut to after the show, with Homicide and Corino in the ring. The lights are back on and all the weapons and barbed wire are gone from the ring. Homicide and Corino stand up. Corino offers his hand to Homicide. Homicide looks at Corino and thinks about it. He goes to shake it, but instead, opts to walk out of the ring.
We go to the back. Corino and crew go to the locker room. Corino just sits there and looks to rest. Corino says it's over. Corino says he tried to make amends. Corino says that if Smokes didn't throw in the towel, he would've KILLED Homicide. Corino is a fucking god. How he can cut a promo after all this is insane. Corino asks what is it going to take for this to end. Corino says no more hardcore. LeGrande sings the praises of Corino. Corino says he has nothing left to prove. Corino says he isn't coming back.
We then go to Colt Cabana with Good Times, Better Memories. Cabana says he knows Spanish now. He brings out The SAT. The SAT are speaking Spanish. Cabana tries talking Spanish to them, but Joel lets Cabana know he speaks English. Funny. Cabana asks SAT how Red is doing. They say he'll be back soon. The SAT say they blame two people for what happened to Red. The SAT call out The Briscoes. The SAT are pissed off at The Briscoes. The SAT say they are going for The Briscoes and that they will win the ROH tag belts.
We go to the back with BJ Whitmer and Matt Stryker. Stryker kind of looks like Mike Hampton with a hat on. From the side, he looks like Vince Russo. Matt asks Whitmer why did he attack him when he's hurt. Whitmer says winning is the only thing that matters.
Honestly after watching this tape twice, I still come to the same conclusion- The Corino promo should've closed the show, because it was the best one, and it also made an impact on the viewer.
Final McWord
WOW. The last three matches are 5 star. I'm not a fan of the star system, but these matches
were so good that they must get that label. The Homicide-Corino feud ended in ROH, at least
for now. This feud in its entirety could probably sell 10000 tapes. For two guys that
hate each other, fucking wow. LeGrande even looked good playing Corino's second. Ditto Smokes
with Homicide. I mean if this was the WWE, LeGrande and Smokes would've had a match the show
previous. I really can't say enough how much I appreciated and respect Corino/Homicide matches.
These guys just destroyed each other.
Get the tape. You must see Homicide-Corino. I think Joe/Styles and Briscoes/Prophecy will be forgotten in all of this, which is sad, but understandable. There is just no way to top what Homicide and Corino did. This was another solid show of wrestling. This was ROH's first double shot weekend, and it was a success, as both shows were excellent. The Corino-Homicide story looks like it was penned by George Romero. The brutality and violence, mixed in pure hate is a wrestling work of art.
ROH is soaring on all levels and if you still think ROH is just about a bunch of technical wrestlers putting each other in rest holds for a 1/2 hour, you need to wake up. ROH has revolutionized wrestling and no promotion today is mixing wrestling, storylines, puroresu and pure entertainment like the chefs at ROH.
Overall- Get the tape.
