This is Jersey All Pro Wrestlings last show of 2003, and pretty much the most recent show.
Modtrom has been around for a long time and are known for producing high quality tapes. Is the
hype worth believing? Find out.
8 Second countdown to start. We open up with Fred The Elephant Boy, who let's everyone know that MODTROM rules. We go to a Modtrom promo with April, Slyk, Fat Frank, Ivan, Deranged, Homicide, SWC and a bunch more.
We go to a promo advertising the 11/8 show, JAPW's 6th Anniversary, from The Meadowlands. Cool song called "State of Mind" plays in the background.
Promos for JAPW's Suicidal Tv.
Promo with the Christopher Street Connection and Jailbait. Jailbait is pissed off about April Hunter. Funny.
Promo with The Next Generation. Man this is some corny ass shit. The background is mad funny. They fuck around with light sabers to end the promo.
Cut to Suba who is in the lockeroom screaming "Shoe." The kid who outrapped John Cena tries to calm Suba down. Ok then.
Marc Clemson is with Derek Wylde. Derek talks about his upcoming match with Jay Lethal.
Back to the kid who outrapped John Cena. He cuts some free style on Suba. Suba keeps screaming Shoe. Suba lays out John Cena Jr., and takes off his shoes.
Now to Mafia, who talks about his past. Maff cuts a totally different promo from his ROH ones. He definitely a good talker as he can sell different points in different emotions. He talks about the JAPW Champion, Jerry Lawler, and Shane Douglas. Maff promises to win the JAPW World Heavyweight Championship.
Marc Clemson is your color commentator and ring announcer, due to Da Bald Guy's vacation in Florida. Your ring announcer is not Scott Matthews, so that sucks.
10 Bell Salute for The Wall, Jerry Tuite.
For the JAPW Lightheavyweight Championship
(c) Azrieal d. Insane Dragon
LOL, you can hear life-long wrestling fan, Paul, the guy with the killer outfits, screaming
"GIVE IT TO HIM" during this bout. This was a good match, better than their previous one
back at the anniversary show. Azrieal displays some heel qualities in this match, as he
choked The Insane Dragon with his shirt several times.
Dragon hit a sick mafia kick that almost put Azraiel out.
Azraiel hit a nice rolling perfect plex,
followed by a brain buster. Dragon hit a sick reverse tiger driver in this match, that had
the crowd getting loud. Dragon followed it up with a reverse hurranacarrana that didn't look
too pretty. Azraiel rebounds and hits a fisherman bomb to keep the title.
Replays of the high spots of the match are shown.
Danny Maff is out next. Cool little slow-mo frames by Modtrom during his entrance. Not too hot during the promo tho. Maff talks about his upcoming title match and about JAPW. Maff runs down his opponents.
Shaolin Wreckin Crew (Suba and Magic) d.The H-Effect (Dixie and Deranged) with Hijinx and Mike G
Seems the H-Effect is JAPW's Special K, as two members just join with no explanation. I guess
it's not fair to JAP, as H-Effect has been around longer. H-Effect aren't the same from their
Bayonne days. Magic's afro is fucking huge. Jimmy Hoffa is probably buried in Magic's afro.
Before the match, Mike G, the guy who beat John Cena in a free style rap contest, talks
some smack on the Shaolin Wreckin Crew. Most fans wouldn't know that, so he comes off like
a John Cena clone. With Deranged and Dixie actually wrestling, they should be doing the talking
as they are really funny on the mic. Mike G. would be better off with someone who needs
a mouthpiece, if Mike G. is gonna be used at all. This was your classic big man vs small man
match. Magic hit a huge Shaolin powerbomb (tigerbomb) on Deranged for the win. Decent match.
Marc Clemson talks up the JAP-ROH joint show.
Corvis Fear/Rush Margera and The Nelson Brothers went to a no contest.
Clemson calls this a rookie match. Odd, Corvis has been part of JAP for some time now. Both
these teams can be major tag teams down the line. The Nelson's are solid indy wrestlers. Matt
and Troy are two serious wrestlers and could be the Haas Brothers of 2004 with more work.
Rush and Troy go at it first, with Troy getting the upperhand. Corvis and Matt both get
tagged in, and both exchange back slides. Both teams kept getting two counts. This was a really
good indy wrestling match. Corvis Fear missed a suicide dive, in the later stages of the match,
and the Nelson Brothers double teamed Rush, but Rush got the advantage. Corvis then got right
back up, and hit a frogsplash on Troy Nelson for the win. I guess landing on the floor hard
don't hurt lol.
POSTMATCH: Fat Frank comes out and says what is this bullshit? The Solution run out and wipe out Corvis Fear and Rush. Havok fallaway slams Rush into Corvis, who was in the tree of woe. Marc Clemson calls them The Solution, but says they are also Fat Franks New Express. Papadon looks like Mr. Freeze with a shaved head. The Solution hit the 595 on Rush, then the T-bomb on Corvis. Man, Papadon's bald head looks like a bad photoshop picture. Fat Frank is on the mic calling for the beating, and demands a Problem Solver, which The Solution hit on Corvis. Fat Frank calling for a beating on these guys is funny. Frank calls out bad booking ideas in the company and bad mouths April Hunter/Slyk Wagner Brown as tag champions. Fat Frank says the Solution are dead and that they are The New Express. For some reason, The Solution are using The Backseat Boyz music. They should definitely lose that music.
Marc Clemson is with Eddie Thomas. Crazy Ivan interrupts and opens up a can of racial slurs. Eddie Thomas says everyone was created equal in response. Ivan calls Thomas a wigger. Excellent and funny promo.
For the JAPW Television Championship
Eddie Thomas d. Crazy Ivan to become JAPW TV Champion
Funny that Thomas won this match, because the day after he won the title, JAPW vacated it and
no longer recoginizes it. Before the match, Ivan cuts a promo badmouthing Thomas.
Ivan wastes no time on Thomas, and whips his ass right away. Ivan hit a HUGE macho man elbow
from the top rope. Ivan put Thomas in a unique neckbreaker submission, by hooking Thomas's neck
and leg. Lots of fast pace action. This was probably one of Ivan's better WRESTLING matches. I
still mark for the salute everytime I see Ivan put someone in it lol. Ivan hits his rolling
kick to Thomas's head. The ref is distracted, and out comes Jay Lethal with a chair, who
caves the chair over Ivan's head. Thomas then gets a quick pin, and upsets Ivan. Decent match.
Ariel is out next and she plays up to the crowd during her ring entrance. Ariel talks about her troubles in JAP. Johnny D. is out next. Johnny D. makes fun of Ariels' tag team, before they come out. Johnny D has enough of Ariel and calls out The Skyscrapers, who are Mega and Slugger. Church is their manager. Clemson in the announce booth does a great job talking up the whole angle and the history of it. Before Johnny D's Skyscraper team can beat up Ariel, out come "The New Generation", who use the theme from Superman as their theme song. These two got light sabers and matching robes to boot. They tell the Skyscrapers to leave Ariel alone. The New Express trying using the light sabers on The Skyscrapers, complete with sound effects. Not pretty. This turns into...
The SkyScrapers (Mega and Slugger) with Church and Johnny D. d. The New Generation w/Ariel
This wasn't much of a match, as it was a huge beating for The New Generation. Clemson questions
Ariel's thinking. Mega then bumps Ref Hanson to the ground. Church hits a huge ass chokeslam
on Ariel. Mega hits a thunderous piledriver on Ariel. Slugger hits his Bodybag on Ariel.
I don't understand the point of this segment, hopefully it will turn into something more
meaningful later on in JAPW.
Intermission. Grabbed a Heineken from the fridge.
Jolly Old St. Nick comes out. He shakes hands with the crowd. Johnny D. and the Skyscrapers return. The Skyscrapers lay out Santa. Church steals Santa's sack. Not his package. Wait, he took his bag of toys. Yea.
Jay Lethal talks about his upcoming match. Lethal isn't the best in front of a camera.
Jay Lethal d. "Dangerous" Derek Wylde
Excellent match between two really good wrestlers. Lots of fast pace chain wrestling and
lots of counters and submissions in this match. If it wasn't for the main event, this would
be the Match of the Night. Lethal hit a sick ass powerbomb on Wylde midway through the match.
You can hear Lethal's family the whole match, and Clemson acknowledges it. Jay Lethal hits
a FUCKING HUGE ASS top rope dragon suplex. Wow. After more wrestling and reversals, Lethal hits
another dragon suplex on Wylde's injured neck for the pinfall victory. PAW!
Cut to Slyk Wagner Brown and April Hunter who are warming up before their match against the Christopher Street Connection. The CSC are checking out Slyk's pectorial muscles. CSC thank Slyk for giving them a match. The CSC invite Slyk to their locker room. Dana Dameson watches on in a state of confusion. Dana/Jailbait is decked out in a Santa costume.
For the JAPW Tag Team Titles
Slyk Wagner Brown/April Hunter d. The Christopher Street Connection (Buff E and Mace)w/ Jailbait
Dixie joins Clemson in the announcing booth.
PREMATCH: Jailbait says that she likes women.
That gets the crowd wilding out.
The match starts with the CSC refusing to get in the ring with April. They want to wrestle
Slyk. April obliges and tags in Slyk. The CSC argue over who gets to start the match with
Slyk. This was a pretty entertaining match. The CSC are great at what they do, and have
made their own niche in indy wrestling. The CSC double team Slyk for most of this match, before
he's able to tag April Hunter for the hottag. April wipes out the CSC. Dixie is funny as
the color man. Slyk and April hit a huge double suplex on Buff-E. Slyk then moonsaults April
on Buff E, then moonsaults himself. Mace breaks up the count at 2. The CSC get the
upperhand towards the end, and the CSC beat up April. Jailbait breaks up the two count and slides
up and down the body of April Hunter. Slyk immediately goes down, asking Jailbait for the
same treatment. Jailbait refuses. April calls Slyk a pig and the CSC make out with each other.
Slyk and April then hit a combo samoan drop-neckbreaker on Mace for the pinfall.
POSTMATCH: La Familia, DRS and Danny Maff run out and lay out Slyk/April. The DRS handcuff
Slyk to the ropes. Maff opens up on Slyk. This was done to set up Maff-Slyk at the JAP/ROH
joint show. KC Blade goes to suffocate April Hunter, by putting his shirt over her face and
making her smell his belly. I don't know what he was going for there. The DRS then hit the
Dirty Rotten Driver on April. Maff finishes it
with a burning hammer on April. What's with all these heel beat downs tonight?
Maff promo talking about JAP. He talks about being at the top of the JAP food chain.
For the JAPW Heavyweight Championship
Danny Maff w/The DRS d. Jerry Lawler and Shane Douglas to regain the Heavyweight Title
PREMATCH: Shane Douglas cuts one of his usual promos.
Clemson runs down the previous events that led to this match.
Lawler is on the mic and has some great one liners and enrages Maff with a Puerto Rican joke.
This was a WWE style triple threat, not an indy style, if you can get that reference. Most
of this match just saw Shane and Maff team up on the JAPW champion. When they finally had
Lawler beat, they both argued with each other over who would get the pin. Lawler finally
woke up though and hit Maff and Douglas with two ugly ass stunners. Maff then gets brass knux
and wipes Lawlers face with it for the three count and to become heavyweight champion.
Hopefully Maff can bring back credibility and respect to the JAPW Heavyweight Championship,
because it hasn't been treated properly since he lost it to Al Snow.
POSTMATCH: Douglas is mad because him and Maff had a deal. Douglas wants Maff in a one on one match. He threatens to break Maff's neck.
MAIN EVENT
AJ Styles d. Chris Daniels
Easily the match of the night. Match starts off "ROH Style" and the crowd acts this way, despite
being animals in the other matches. Lots of fast wrestling. The match even went to the otuside
where AJ plastered AJ's jaw with a superkick. Lots of two counts in this match. Towards the
end of the match, Daniels hit his triple jump moonsault, but only got a two count. Daniels then
hit the Angel Wings on AJ, and again only got a two count. AJ was able to hit a big time
enzuiguri on Daniels to slow him down. After reversing another Angel Wings attempt, Styles hits
the Styles clash on Daniels to win the match. PAW.
Promo time:
Daniels talks about his match with AJ. He wants AJ Styles in a rematch in JAP.
AJ talks about winning the match and welcomes a rematch.
Cut to the Solution. When Havok talks, it looks like he is gonna crack up laughing. Papadon looks as mean as Egghead from Batman can get. Solution say they want the titles.
Highlights of the nights event.
Final McWord
Pretty good show. The heel beatdowns did get a bit repetitive, but the great wrestling sure
made up for it. The main event was excellent. Ditto Lethal/Wylde. Clemson as Joey Styles, meaning
manning the show by himself at the announcing booth, surprisingly worked. Most commentators
who are used to working with a partner wouldn't be able to pull that off. JAP has some high
quality tag teams on their roster with the DRS, Nelsons, Corvis/Roach, CSC, Slyk/April and
now the Solution. Ariel's pay off for Johnny D was mad weak. Where that goes I don't know.
JAP has changed alot in a short amount of time and it should be interesting to see where they
wind up this time next year.
Overall, for 10 bucks get it. It's available from the Modtrom guys over at www.modtrom.com
