Honky Tonk Man Shoot
Conducted on 8/12/04 in Essington, PA

Being that this is the second shoot interview HTM has done for RF Video, the beginning of his career was not discussed, nor his early WWF days. This interview covers a lot of his indy work, as well as his infamous website.

HTM starts the interview off by discussing what has happened in his career, since his last interview. He drops his famous line of being the Greatest Intercontintental Champion of all time. While I don't think he was the greatest, he definitely was the longest reigning champion. HTM then says that WWE Raw magazine voted him the number 1 IC Champion of all time, and you can tell he was proud of winning that poll.

HTM discusses his controversial reputation, which he has gotten, due to comments on his website. For anyone who's seen HTM's website, you know what HTM is referring to. Check out Honky's site at http://www.thehonkytonkman.com
His website holds nothing back, just like this interview.

HTM discusses how many times the WWE has called him back to do one shot deals. He talks about how WWE wanted him back to do deals for the Royal Rumble, matches against Randy Orton and other spots. He calls Billy Gunn aka Rockabilly the drizzlin shits. Honky later on goes to describe a good program that would make sense, if he was to work Randy Orton. He talks about how WWE rushes all their storylines, and Honky, in my opinion, is 100% right. Honky lays out a great program that could be done with Orton, in which Orton would've been known as the Greatest Intercontinental champion of all time. For someone who's made a career of being known as the Greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time, I'm surprised that he'd do the angle he suggested.

HTM talks about Mick Foley's book, specifically the part where Foley said that HTM broke Jake "The Snake" Roberts neck. HTM says he doesn't read wrestling books, because they are all fiction. HTM talks about the guitar shot he gave Jake, and does a fucking hilarious impersonation of a coked out Jake The Snake. Funny shit here, and HTM clears the record on the guitar shot here.

HTM further elaborates on Foley by saying that he and Foley made up, and it was just a misunderstanding.

The talk then goes to Ric Flair. HTM says something that a lot of Flair critics say- Flair is overrated. He says that Flair does the same match every time. HTM tells a story about how Flair won his first title. According to HTM, Flair won the belt so he would have to travel and not kill the territory he was in. He says Flair is a great talker, but every match is the same. He goes through a standard Flair match. HTM does make good points, but then again, Flair is so great that he can get away with doing what he does because he tells a great story in the ring. HTM laughs about Flairs in ring work.

HTM then talks about the internet in great detail. He discusses how Flair made a comment that the fans shouldn't use insider terms. HTM defends the internet alot in this interview. HTM says that Vince McMahon was the one who made wrestling look fake, due to Vince brokering a deal with the state of NJ. (I believe it was in 1997 with then NJ Governor, Christine Whitman) HTM says Vince exposed wrestling, and you can't blame anyone else. HTM says that Flair is ignorant for going off on the fans for knowing insider terms. HTM says that according to Flair, HTM should be angry at fans. HTM loves the fans and holds nothing against them.

HTM talks about XWF. He calls it Cocaine wrestling, because all the bookers and talent were on cocaine. Really good stuff here.

HTM then talks about Arn Anderson. He talks about how Flair would say, "Woooooooooo Arn we're going to party!" Funny shit here. HTM then says he never understood why Hogan got heat for having Beefcake around. He says that every wrestler has a Brutus Beefcake, and Arn Anderson's was Flairs.

HTM talks about WWE's Plane Ride from Hell. He says they should all have been arrested. He wonders why the FAA never cracked down on McMahon.

HTM then spends a good amount of time talking about Rowdy Roddy Piper or how HTM refers to him, Pipernutz. HTM talks about an indy show that Piper promoted, and how Piper tried to screw him out of money. HTM hates Roddy Piper. He talks about how he blasted Piper on his site, including how he parodied Piper with a super imposed image. More fun stuff from Honky here.

HTM calls Kevin Nash "Big Lazy". He says that Nash is one of the worst World Champions ever. I seem to agree with Honky.

Honky talks about death in pro wrestling. He spends a good deal of time talking about Liz, Hawk, Crash Holly and others. Thought provoking stuff here from HTM.

Honky then talks about the WWE. He discusses about going back there. He then spends some time talking about the Hall of Fame. HTM thinks that you should be very old to go into a Hall of Fame, and not be in your thirties or forties. He then talks about Bruno and hopes that Bruno doesn't sell his soul to McMahon.

HTM then talks about NWA TNA. He goes in full detail in what he thinks of them. HTM then talks about Jarrett stealing his gimmick. He says that Jarrett should start ripping off his shirt like Hogan, because whacking people with a guitar isn't working for him. More hilarity and truth from HTM.

HTM talks about his infamous website. He says he was worried about backlash, but not anymore. He says he likes his site and the people that help him with it.

HTM then talks about his "Ass Whippin List". He says it's half shoot, half work. He says that Jim Ross was really scared about getting an Ass Whippin from the Greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time.

HTM then talks about indy promoters. He says that Joe Panzarino and Kevin Knight are good ones. HTM then goes into a story about the NWS/SSCW/JCW triple shot he worked. He said that Ricky O picked him up from the airport, but didn't have anyone to pick him up to go to Ricky O's show. He called the whole incident a clusterfuck, and he just went home and didn't think about it afterwards.

HTM talks about the indy scene in general. He says wrestling is missing the next big star. He says alot of these indy guys suck because they aren't trained right and don't look like wrestlers. HTM goes more in-depth on this issue during this part of the shoot.

HTM discusses Jerry Lawler. He calls him Chester The Molester. He says everything he knows about Jerry. He says he has a bad relationship with his cousin.

As far as people that HTM would like to work, he would love to wrestle Terry Funk. He says he's wrestled alot of the big names in the WWE through the indy circuit. He laughs when saying he'd love to wrestle Ric Flair, as Ric Flair does all his same bumps.

HTM says he'd never write a book because he hates wrestling books. He thinks they are all fake.

HTM closes the interview off by talking about how people misjudge him. He says he is a good guy but very open in his opinions.

Final McWord
Great interview here. HTM is a wild man, and he lets you know that. HTM impersonates some people in this interview, and it is funny. HTM is a character, and you become a bigger fan of him during this. While watching this, I was thinking the whole time that HTM would be great as an interviewer or commentator for a smart mark promotion, such as ROH. Hell, he'd probably be great on a WWE broadcast too. HTM has the gift of the gab, and while he may embellish a little bit, you are fully entertained.

HTM discusses alot of other topics during this shoot. When watching this, you will laugh, because HTM is just a funny mother fucker.

Overall
Big thumbs up. I'd say this is one of RF Video's better shoot interviews. HTM is outspoken and tells it like he sees it. Definitely worth picking up.

You won't be disappointed.

Also stay tuned, as RF Video has plans to do another shoot with HTM soon!
