DWOW TAPE

What up DOI Fans, and welcome to another McTape Review. Today I’ll be running down DWOW’s (Dangerous Women of Wrestling) event of “Hovember…”, which took place on November 16th 2002. This is one of their stronger shows. A little background of DWOW, is that they feature only women wrestling. Some of it is real women wrestling, and some of it is… well the other women wrestling, more suited for males lol. I won’t complain about that, so when I got to meet Steve The Sound Guy, the promoter of DWOW, I was eager to view his product. So to all the people who might not have heard of DWOW, and to all the people that did, here is my McTape Review of DWOW’s Hovember To Remember!

Show opens up with a clip section of DWOW wrestlers. A lot of girls are featured, and even Smoke, the fake rock from CSWF fame. Smoke is the commissioner in all of this. Also featured is Fabulous Moolah and Mae Young from WWE giving birth to a hand fame!

Show starts off with a promo by Candy, who talks about her upcoming hardcore bra and panties match with BJ. I don’t know what the BJ stands for yet, but I’m sure it’s something to do with fellatios lol. She calls out BJ and talks about the junk in her trunk. I like this show already lol. To tell you the truth, this is actually a good promo.

We then cut to another promo, with BJ talking smack on Candy, about their match.

We go to the announcers, who are Jeff James, and Eric Garigulo. They pump up the Hovember to Remember card. The production of this is like watching an ECW show, where you can see all the hard work, but you can still figure out how they did it, such as the backdrop on the announcers. Goodjob though. The announcers are running down the list of matches for tonight.

Your ring announcer is Steve D’Angelis. He announces Tara as special guest referee for the upcoming match. Again, great production by DWOW, as everyones names pop up as they come out, making this easy to review, and to know who is who.

Tara cuts a heel promo on the crowd calling the crowd losers. There’s a sign in the crowd that says “Handjob.” Classy. Tara’s promo is sort of inaudible, as the crowd is louder than her screechy Stephanie McMahon voice. Tara tells the crowd if they shut up, she’ll show everyone her thong. Announcer makes a good point, how many referees before Tara, cut promos on the mic? Tara says she won’t show her stuff to the crowd anyway. Darn.

Announcer talks about how Tara had a career ending neck injury. Good job by the commentators, as most people wouldn’t know that, unless they followed DWOW. Candy vs BJ
Tara and BJ bump into each other, and make peace. BJ goes into the rail hard to start this match. I am guessing these are the “enhancement” wrestlers, then the true women wrestlers as this match progresses. Candy hits a nice sidewalk slam. Big time hair toss by BJ to Candy, and she works on the RIGHT arm. I guess disabling your opponents right arm in a bra and panties match is a good psychological strategy. All three women in this match are looking good. Announcers talk about how Candy likes being choked, but not in the ring. Say word lol. Candy schoolgirls BJ for the cover, but the ref doesn’t make the count, as this is a bra and panties match, where you gotta take the clothes off your opponent not pin them. A sloppy ddt is excuted onto BJ, and the crowd is looking for, lack of a better word, puppies. The wrestlers look they both want to hit the ref, and they double clothesline Tara the Ref. But, Candy turns on BJ and takes off her top, to expose her bra. She then hits the ROCK BOTTOM! This leads to the PANTY REMOVER!
WINNER: Candy
BJ rolls around the ring in her undergarments. Tara gets the mic again, and talks about kissing Candy. Crowd goes bonkers, but Tara is a heel, so this was just a cock tease. Candy and Tara keep making fun of the crowd and won’t expose their tops or kiss each other for these loser fans. This whole match was very entertaining on different levels. BJ is still rolling around the ring, and is lifted out by a security.

Promo by Belladawna who is 1/3 of the Maes, who are a hillbilly trio. Belladawna is the wrestler of the bunch, and she is with 2 guys who make Phineas and Henry Godwin look like Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle. We also have a promo with Pyscho Bytch and Tai who talk about their upcoming match. We then go to another promo, with 2 midgets who are inaudible. Feel the hilarity. We go back to the Mae’s who are all hillbillied out. They cut a promo about their match, and on Tai The Killer Weed. Lots of bleeping in this one too.

Back to the announcers. This show is definitely going for an ECW feel, as we go to promo to promo then a match, interview, promo promo promo match. I like it, as you’re watching a TV show, not a wrestling show, and it’s pretty funny. Update, the midgets are King Sleazy and Little Louie from WWF Survivor Series fame. They pump up the upcoming match.

For the DWOW Tag Team Titles
Your ref is Isis.
Pyscho Bytch/Tai vs The Maes vs King Sleazy and Little Louie
During the ring intros, The Maes parade around with the vacant titles. Tai is drinking during her entrance, so she is my new favorite. Pyscho Bytch looks like the Metal Maniac. Hideous. Tai is on crutches too. Tai is still drinking beer during the ring intros. Definitely a girl you want to bring home to your mother.
This match won’t be anything like Ricky Steamboat vs Ric Flair, but should be funny. Pyscho Bytch, upon closer examination, looks like that girl from the Exorcist. These midgets rule, I mark for midgets. Belladawna can actually wrestle, but pulls her hillbilly gimmick off well. Lots of stalling before contact is made in this match. Pyscho Bytch bytchslaps one of the Mae’s. This is an elimination match for the COVETED Tag Titles. Pyscho Bytch backdrops one of the Maes over the top rope, and it looks pretty good. Lots of action on the outside of the ring as Danny Mae hits Tai with a crutch. Pyscho Bytch comes outside and chokeslams Danny Mae. We head back to the ring, and the midgets ride Pyscho Bytch like a bull. Everyone goes to team on Pyscho Bytch, and everyone runs into her, but gets bounced off cause of her size. All of a sudden, Belladawna and Poppa Mae splash her in the corner, and everyone gets on top of Pyscho Bytch, and Pyscho Bytch and Tai “The Killer” Weed are eliminated from this contest. We’re down to The Maes vs The Midgets. This is definitely a mismatch lol. Little Louie grabs Belladawna’s ass. Then him and Sleazy bite Belladawna’s ass. Belladawna likes it, and then let’s the midgets lick her ass again. She goes to show Louie her boobs, but Sleezy gets behind, and Louie pushes her over. I don’t really think the DWOW Tag titles are as prestigious as the NWA titles lol. Danny Mae gets chopped to hell by King Sleazy. Belladawna kisses Little Louie, and she won’t hurt him, as she has the hots for the Little, Little Louie! Belladawna then turns and beats up Little Louie. Then a big splash by Poppa Mae, who looks like a fat slob, and this match looks like to be over. All of a sudden, Sound Guy and Smoke run in and chair shot the hell out of the Maes. This lets Sleazy pin Danny Mae, and we got NEW DWOW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS! What a great moment in the history of this sport. Match was pretty funny, and midgets as tag team champions totally kicks ass.

Sound Guy and Smoke go to a cut a promo, but Soundguy gets mad at a fan and threatens to slap the shizzit out of him. I don’t understand the crowd, as they were pulling for the midgets, but now don’t like Sound Guy and Smoke. Crowd gets a “You suck dick” chant. Smoke should be beaten beyond belief for the worst Rocky impersonation of all time. Smoke says “Finally The Smoke…” See I don’t mind the comedy and antics of the other matches, but Smoke blatantly ripping off The Rock, shows he has no talent at all and can’t get over by himself. Sound Guy and Smoke make a challenge, some girls goes over the railing, but then is escorted back to her seat.

Back to the announcers who talk about how DWOW is a women promotion, but male midgets are its tag team champions. They then talk about the next match.

Pussy Willow v. Persephone
Pussy Willow is a washed up “Hollywood” actress. The announcers words not mine. Isis, is the ref and during the prematch checking for objects, checks Persephone’s top. Match starts off odd, because it goes to an arm bar and a hammerlock. This match starts off with wrestling holds and arm locks. Nice clothesline by Pussy Willow to Persephone. Some manager, Special Ed distracts the ref, and Chick Vin Diesel runs in and splashes both women in the corner. This match is a no contest.
Winner: None
Special Ed, walks like a cripple. Chick Diesel, looks like Diesel but 1 foot shorter and 200 pounds heavier. Special Ed looks like Zack Gowen, in his face and in his walk, as he walks with a limp. American Cream Pie comes out to attack Chick Diesel. Special Ed is still in the ring and insults the crowd. Out comes Handiman, who is another cripple. His aka is Lucky. Lucky walks like a jellyfish.

HANDICAPPED MATCH (literally)
Lucky vs Special Ed
Special Ed beats up 2 ring crew guys. Lucky shows a change in heart and helps out his fellow handicapped person and beats up the ring crew guys too. This is starting to get stupid, as we just had 2 back to back shitty finishes and pointless matches. This is too long and dragged out. Fast forward button here we come!

Back to the announcers call Chick Diesel the Brock Lesnar of DWOW. Um, no. Eric Garigulo says everyone loves to make fun of the handicapped. Hopefully the PTC isn’t watching this.

Cut to a promo with Riptide, who pumps up her upcoming match. She is looking good, and cuts a decent promo here about her match.
We then go to a promo with Amy Lee, who uses the f-word 9 times. Profanity should be used to put over something in a wrestling promo, not just for the hell of it. If everyone says fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck, it takes away from it, when someone actually uses it. Eh, promo basically sucked lol.

Riptide vs Pryme Tyme Amy Lee
Gotta give it up to DWOW, who has promos before every match, at least hyping it, and making you want to watch it. Amy Lee looks like a fat biker chick. She gets the advantage early on, and pummels Riptide all over the place maliciously. HOLY SHIT! Riptide gets whipped to the rail, but hits it so hard, that she flips over it and lands flat on her back. Must be seen, crowd gives it props too. This is definitely the women wrestling part of DWOW, and man it’s brutal. Nothing like the Japanese hardcore women wrestling, but definitely hardcore and brutal by American standards, and my standards too. Shit this match is more hardcore than some of the WWE hardcore matches. This match brawls all over the building, and we go to the merchandise table. Riptide legdrops Amy Lee through a table, but the table don’t break! Riptide, then hits a splash from the table. Unfortunately for Riptide, the pain didn’t register, and Amy Lee is back up and pummels and womanhandles Riptide. Riptide hits a sweet savate kick to Asmy Lees face. Crowd is into this one big time. Riptide and Amy Lee are destroying all merchandise tables, as they knock over table of tapes and shirts. The security guards take over the match, as they both escort both wrestlers back to the ring, for the fans safety. Riptide don’t give a shit, as he kabonks Amy Lee with a chair. Riptide hits a somersault legdrop on Amy Lee, and Amy Lee is starting to look beat up. Riptide lifts up Amy Lee, and hits a snap suplex. With Amy Lee down, Riptide brings out a ladder. What a great fucking match. Just two people who want to kick the shit out of each other, for no titles, just pride. I think this is what the WWE was trying to do with the roster split. Maybe they should call in Riptide and Amy Lee! The crowd is nuts for this , and is chanting “FUCK HER UP!” Amy Lee gets thrown into the ladder, and is splashed into the ladder by Riptide, but Amy Lee pulls an Ultimate Warrior and gets right up and beats on Riptide. Riptide gets launched into the ladder. Riptide then gets thrown through the ropes by Amy Lee, and Amy Lee is back on the outside and kicks Riptide. Riptide goes into the guard rail again. Riptide gets put on a table, and Lee weakens her some more with some fists. Lee goes to the apron, and is looking for the splash therough the table, but says fuck this, as the table was too far. Lee wastes some time, and goes to a chair and jumps off it, but Riptide rolls out of the way, and Lee crashes through the table by herself. The doctors come out to see if Amy Lee can continue. Meanwhile, Riptide sets up the ladder in the ring. Amy Lee is knocked out for a loop. Riptide throws Lee into the ring and is drop toe holded into the ladder. A ladder is then draped across and thrown on her back. Riptide hits a picture perfect moonsault from the top, and this is enough to get the pinfall.
WINNER: RIPTIDE
What a great fucking match seriously. This is better than ½ of men matches I’ve seen too, so it’s not because they are just women. Excellent match, and the crowd gives a standing ovation to both competitors. I think it also helped that the last 2 segments sucked, so this match really looked fabulous. Kudos to both wrestlers in this match.

Promo with Britney the School Girl, talking about the upcoming match. Missy then cuts a promo about Britneys future. We then go to Greg Matthews who beats up GI Hoe. Very manly, as he throws her into a toilet. Back to Britney as she talks about Missy.

Back to the announcers who talk about the last match, and our upcoming match…

BATTLE OF THE HIGH SCHOOL VIRGINS
Missy The School Girl vs Britney The School Girl
I think this is the first virgin match I’ve ever seen, outside of the ticket seller matches at USA PRO! Burned! Our special ref is Carlotta. Missy is the heel in this one, but the fans don’t see it that way, as they pop for her good looks. The announcers say that Missy isn’t really as wholesome as she says she is. I’m also guessing that neither of these girls are in highschool any more either. I’m guessing this match will be more of a comedy match, rather than a great wrestling match which took place previously. Match starts off with a weak collar and elbow tie upu. Missy then hits the bronco buster on Britney. This is your cat fight match. Both wrestlers pull each others hair and slam their heads o nthe mat. Neither look like they belong in a wrestling ring. Britney bronco busts Missy, but Sound Guy comes out and breaks it up, and the ref goes down by the Missy/Sound Guy team. Sound Guy is a worker, but really does the sound too! Missy says she wants to beat Britney by herself, so she gets a “Soundcheck” or a razors edge by Soundguy to Missy. Britney then “turns” and is with Soundguy. The winner of this match is not a virgin anymore- well that’s the logic the announcers are trying to sell. Britney slaps Carlotta the ref. This whole thing was 3 minutes long, so at least it wasn’t too offensive.

Sound Guy and Britney then cut a promo about Missy. We then go to a promo where two people are attacked by some black chick. Alrighty then.

For the DWOW Heavyweight Championship
Greg Matthews v. © GI Hoe
I’m guessing this match won’t be on a tape that Greg Matthews gives to a promoter looking for work. The crowd loves GI Hoe. GI Hoe looks like she recovered from being thrown into a title. The building must be cold, or at least that’s what I’m guessing by looking at GI Hoe’s top. Greg Matthews is from WWE Tough Enough 1, and the announcers put him over very well, and say that if Greg didn’t get hurt, he would’ve won the contest, as that’s what Al Snow went on record as saying. I’m sure Al Snow is proud of Greg Matthews in this bout lol. The announcers are wondering if every male in DWOW is gay , because they all want to beat up women. Touche. We start off with some arm locks and wrist tie ups, but Greg Matthews quickly side slams GI Hoe and hits a mid upperbody clothesline on GI Hoe. GI Hoe then gets skyhighed by Greg Matthews, but this only gets a 2 count. GI Hoe hits a headscissor on Matthews, and the crowd is solidly behind her, as she hits a DDT on Matthews. Messy sunset flip and Mattthews just lifts up GI Hoe, but GI Hoe kicks Matthews squarely in the sack. Matthews rebounds, so GI Hoe punches him in the balls, then throws Matthews over the turnbuckle. GI Hoe then splashes Matthews from the top rope to the floor! GI Hoe then chair shots Greg Matthews across the head 3 times! Hey , this is how you do a man vs woman match, as Greg is obviously the more dominant one, but by using nut shots, and chair shots, GI Hoe looks like she has a legit chance of winning. Matthews finally gets up, and GI Hoe is running away from him, but winds up in the ring, where she gets punched and then thrown into the corner. Greg Matthews sort of wrestles like Test, looks like Test, and beats up women like Test. Unlike Test though, this match is interesting. GI Hoe kicks Matthews in the balls again, so either Matthews has a small pecker and package or he has balls of steel, as he gets right up. GI Hoe hurranacarranas Matthews and goes on the top for another one, but Matthews catches her in a powerbomb position, muffs her, then powerbombs her flat to the mat. Instead of going for the belt, by pinning her, he goes and gets a table. The announcers says this is a no dq match. No shit, we just saw 3 ball shots. The table is set up in the ring, and Matthews piledrives GI Hoe for good measure. Matthews breaks one of the legs of the table, and the crowd lets him know that he fucked up. Matthews finally gets the table set up, and places GI Hoe on it. Matthews goes to the top, goes for a TEST elbow, but gets nothing but table. This would’ve been cool, if it didn’t happen 2 matches ago in a better worked match. Britney the School Girl comes out, and ruins what was a somewhat ok match. GI Hoe then pins Britney and retains her title? What the fuck? The announcers put over GI Hoe for being a fighting champion? What the fuck? She pinned Britney the School Girl, who just came in the ring. Matthews just accepts it. Weak.

POSTMATCH: Isis says Matthews is a punk, so Matthews frenches her and throws her to the floor. Um ok.

Cut to a promo with Mae Young and Fabulous Moolah, and talk about their upcoming match. Mae and Moolah look they are ready to play bridge not wrestle. The rolls and wrinkles on both of these women is eye-boggling.

MAIN EVENT
Sound Guy and Smoke vs. Mae Young and Fabulous Moolah
This is for home video release, as Sound Guy and Smoke are announcing this match. Did I mention how much I hate the Smoke character? Sound Guy does a great job of looking intimidating and gets a lot of negative reaction from the crowd. Smoke sucks. Smoke is doing all the Rockyisms, such as the smelling, and going to the turnbuckle with one arm raised. I like Sound Guy, but get rid of Smoke. At least Smoke is appropriately named, as he is full of hot air. Smoke and Sound Guy cut a promo on the crowd, and about the fossils they have to fight later on. This is a little long. Smoke needs that big ass tattoo on his left arm to be known 100% as the biggest idiot alive. Onto the match.

What’s up with Mae and Moolah wearing old people bathing suits instead of wrestling tights and covering up their skin? The commentary is pretty decent, so check out the tape for that, as the announcer questions Sound Guy and Smokes masculinity for taking this match. Mae pummels Smoke and he retreats. This match has waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much stalling. Smoke gets back in the ring and pounds on Mae, and even chops her. Smoke throws the worst clothesline that I’ve ever seen in my life. Sound Guy run in, but Moolah counters and kicks Sound Guy’s ass. I understand getting over is important, but Smoke won’t go anywhere outside of little indy feds by pretending to be The Rock. Can you see Smoke in ROH doing a Rock Gimmick? N-word please. The women somehoe get the advantage on Smoke. This match is very unbelievable, as two old women are kicking 2 30 year old asses. Mae is moving at ½ a mile an hour. Mae hits the bronco buster on Smoke. The show should’ve ended after the last match, as this match is the sh-eeits. Smoke brings in a cookie sheet, but Mae and Moolah get it and beat up Smoke with it. All 4 competitors go to the outside and towards the back. Smoke says on commentary that this match shouldn’t be happening. I finally agree with Smoke. This match goes to the back, as they brawl to the back. This is horrible. Hart Foundation vs Bulldogs this is not. Mae and Moolah manage to put Smoke and Sound Guy on two tables. All of a sudden, a truck comes out, and Missy is driving it, to continue what happened before. She goes to the top of the truck, and SPLASHES SOUND GUY 20 FEET UP FROM THE TRUCK TO THE TABLE TO THE FLOOR, but the announcers DON’T EVEN TALK ABOUT IT! What is wrong with these announcers, they were doing excellent work the whole time, but don’t even talk about what was a fucking impressive spot. GI Hoe and American Cream Pie join Missy, as they bring all the men to the ri ng, and al lthe women attack Sound Guy and Smoke. What is this a feminist meeting? Moolah and Mae Young both put the sleeper hold on Smoke and Sound Guy. Their hands drop 10 times each and this match is over, by submission. What the fuck, I thought it was 3? Mae and Moolah then French kiss the men. This match, like Mae’s hand birth, was a fucking abortion. It wasn’t even really entertaining either.

POSTMATCH: All the girls celebrate with Moolah and Mae. We then go to the back, and Mae and Moolah keep the assault and beat up Sound Guy some more.

We then go to a highlight clip of the show, like how the WWF used to do with their PPV’s. Good touch to end the tape.

Final McWord
I liked the tape. The show was unique and offers a product that no other indy fed does, so for that, I appreciate. I saw one of the best women matches I’ve ever seen, in, Riptide vs Amy Lee. I don’t know if DWOW has their own wrestling rules, as most of the matches had weird finishes, such as the 10 drop hand thing. As a whole, I found the product very entertaining. I liked most of it, but the things I didn’t like didn’t hamper the show as a whole- The main event, and the finishes. All in all, I am looking forward to checking out a DWOW show live soon.
