CSWF McDVD Review

What's up everyone and welcome to another McTape/DVD Review, here on the DOI site. This time I'll be taking a quick look at CSWF's 4/24 "Retribution" DVD. I am going to review this DVD in a different review style, so if you like it let me know, and if you don't let me know.

The match results are as follows:

For the Number 1 Contendership to the CSWF Cruiser X Championship
Tyler Payne d. Ken Scampi w/Tara Charisma

For the CSWF Tag Team Titles
(c) United Nations d. The Solution w/John Shane

Crowbar vs Mana went to a Double Countout

For the Vacant Internet Title
Mike Tobin d. Josh Daniels

Chris Hamrick vs Rapid Fire Molanado went to a time limit draw

John Shane (W/one arm tied behind his back) Tara Charisma

Matt Striker w/Michelle d. Slyck Wagner Brown w/April Hunter

For the Cruiser X Championship
(c) Michael Shane d. Grim Reefer

Al Snow d. Julio Dinero

For the CSWF Heavyweight Championship
(c) Ron Killings d. Sinister X
Rowdy Roddy Piper interfered in this match and helped Killings. After the match, "Darkbird", who was later revealed to be Chris Kanyon on future CSWF shows, came out and hit the diamond cutter on Ron Killings.

DVD Extras:

There is a really good promo from Rowdy Roddy Piper on this DVD. I believe this was the only promotion in NJ that Rowdy Roddy Piper worked for this year.

Before every match, there are promos to hype up the upcoming match. This was a good touch, as you really don't get to see too many indy guys cut promos. This DVD is full of them. Bill Apter was the backstage interviewer in all of this, and did a good job playing up the CSWF storylines. When you watch these promos, you get to see a different dimension of the wrestlers. You also get to understand their characters as well. As far as who cut the best promo on this DVD, in my opinion, Prince Nana and Matt Striker were just great at doing their thing. Then again, they have alot of promo experience, working for ECWA, where they do promos on their live shows. John Shane was also solid hyping up his matches on the show.

Final McWord:
There are alot of good matches on this DVD. Striker/Slyck, Shane/Reefer and Snow/Dinero stand out. The John Shane vs Tara match is very funny as well. It was also good seeing someone like Mike Tobin hang with someone like Josh Daniels, who has Japan experience under his belt. The main event is pretty disappointing, as Sinister X doesn't belong in the ring at the same time with Ron Killings.

Live shows are different than DVDs, because whereas at a live show, you are looking for storyline continuity. On DVD, you're not really looking for that, as you're just looking for good matches. There are enough good and decent matches, with good promos on this DVD to justify the $15 price tag. The production isn't as good as an ROH tape, but it is still very solid, and it flows nice.

Overall-
Worth checking out if you're interested in something new, and want to see something different. I don't know if you'd be able to get into it without knowing the indy guys beforehand. There is a really good Piper promo on this DVD, and I think everyone will be able to get into that.

To pick up the DVD, just go to a CSWF show, as they are available there. You can also email CSWFINFO@aol.com, with subject title DVD, and they will process your order there. Currently, it's not available to order off the website.
