McRoss Report

Mother told me, yes, she told me I'd meet girls like you.
She also told me, "Stay away, you'll never know what you'll catch."
Just the other day I heard a soldier falling off some Indonesian junk that's going round.

Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird.
Surrender, surrender, but don't give yourself away, ay, ay, ay.

Father says, "Your mother's right, she's really up on things."
"Before we married, Mommy served in the WACS in the Philippines."
Now, I had heard the WACS recruited old maids for the war.
But mommy isn't one of those, I've known her all these years.

Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird.
Surrender, surrender, but don't give yourself away, ay, ay, ay.

Whatever happened to all this season's losers of the year?
Ev'ry time I got to thinking, where'd they disappear?
When I woke up, Mom and Dad are rolling on the couch.
Rolling numbers, rock and rolling, got my Kiss records out.

Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird.
Surrender, surrender, but don't give yourself away, ay, ay, ay.
Away.

“Surrender” by Cheap Trick. From Chris Lehigh in Trenton, NJ

What up DOIites and welcome to a superlong edition of the McRoss Report. This McRoss Report will get into why I’m leaving SSCW, among other things. Louie has his shoot hotline, so I will be straight up in this column as well.

Greetings from the man under the 5 Gallon Heineken Bottle.

First things first, I’d like to thank everyone for coming to the DOI site. We recently went over the 2 million hit mark the other day. That is pretty fucking cool. According to our web stats, we’re really at the 7 million mark, but fucked up by having the counter on that horrendous Mount Rushmore picture lol. Thanks for the support and keep checking out the DOI site for all the crazy shit that you’re accustomed to.

I have heard that Afa/Pops is home and doing well after going through surgery this past Thursday. Get well Afa, and it’s good to hear that a good person will be recuperating fast.

Speaking of WXW, more people should go to their shows. The way they re-modeled their new building in Sciota, PA is simply marvelous. You walk in there and it’s got an old school feel, and you just know that there is something special about it. While WXW may not have the ROH style or the ECW style, WXW certainly has made its name as indy wrestling as without a shadow of a doubt, the best old school meets new school promotion today.

Don’t forget to go to http://www.dirtysanchezhotsauce.com for all the WXW news and stuff you need. If you’re in Sciota, stop in for some food. Tell him you know The MiC, and he’ll slap you in the face for free!

I heard that 3PW drew 700+ people for their BWO show on 1/24. It’s nice to see that 3PW has rebounded after some hardship in late 2003.

Janet’s boob piercing has me wondering if she has anything else pierced. Working at a tattoo shop for 3 years, I can just imagine Janet coming in. “Can you pierce my tit for me?” Damn, and getting paid to do it lol.

Is it me or does music just suck today? I am not down with anything that’s out right now. Give me my Nirvana, Skynyrd, The Doors, Manson, Sex Pistols any day. Keep me away from this Linkin Tunnel Park crap or all this fabricated bubble gum music. Shit, the only good music I’ve heard recently that I actually enjoyed listening to was the Macho Man CD.

Look for a major DOI overhaul soon.

Now onto the SSCW stuff. The following was emailed by Carmine to SSCW fans and employees:
Today Sean McCaffrey, aka "The Mic", handed in his letter of resignation to the SSCW offices. Sean was instrumental in taking SSCW to the next level and always gave 110%. Many people from the start wanted to see Sean fail but they were proven wrong as Sean proved to be a huge success as a booker guiding SSCW to its most profitable year in history. Sean and I did indeed have creative differences and it was beginning to make it impossible for us to work together. We both felt our friendship was being strained and that this was the best way to go. Sean has expressed his desire to make DOI his number 1 priority and I respect that immensely. Sean is not one to turn his back on his responsibilities or friends and he always gives his all.

The fans will see some changes in SSCW and new wrestlers will be brought in to new and fresh stories over the course of the next few shows. Some of the current faces will get a face lift so to speak. But we will not change our direction, which is and will continue to be, heading upward.

I also want to take this moment to express my gratitude for the fans that show after show continue to support the SSCW product. Without you there is no SSCW nor indy wrestling as a whole. This past Saturday you showed everyone that you came to see SSCW not Rick Steiner. And you showed me that you want to see top notch indy wrestling. Nothing more, nothing less. After Ring Rage V a very new direction will begin to take place and to those of you that have already joined the revolution, thank you. For those that haven’t yet we invite you to check us out and have a great time.

More information regarding SSCW and our upcoming events may be found on our website www.sscwwrestling.com.

Allrighty then. There was a lot of stuff that factored in my decision to leave SSCW. Any of my inner circle of DOI friends can tell you I’ve been talking about it, since Mr. Puerto Rico was able to change the finish of his match against Bam Bam Bigelow. Here is some stuff:

SSCW conflicts with my DOI work and DOI will always be my number 1 priority, not SSCW. The DOI will be going through alot of changes, expansion and work and at this time I have to be there 100% and can't be distracted. Mike Zevon, Joel Grayson, Marc Adler, Doc Daniels, Brian Myers, Ma Viper, Jay Goldberg and Low Life Louie will be changing the whole face of the DOI and will present a better DOI product and a bigger DOI than ever before. To me, the DOI will always be my main focus.

As a SSCW booker, the promotion has too many wrestlers that I truly feel don't belong on the show. SSCW is not my vision. Someone of significant importance told me that it’s the promoters job to promote and the bookers job to create interest for the shows and book good storylines. I totally believe that a promoter and a booker should walk two parallel lines and never intersect. My job in SSCW had too much intersecting, making it nearly impossible for me to present the best possible show in my eyes. How can I book what I want, when Carmine’s family and friends, namely Frankie Hawke, Mr. Puerto Rico, Vicious Vin and Angel Martinez all had to be used? I wouldn’t want to see any of the four on any show, and I thought it was unfair to make the fans sit through their matches. I honestly don't agree with the ticket selling policy. I think SSCW has a quality product and can stand on its own two legs without ticket selling. I also don't believe in having big name wrestlers when independent wrestling can draw right with proper promoting, which I felt wasn't being done 100%. (Proof of this is drawing 250 without Rick Steiner and maybe 10-15 fans there to see Tammy and Candido) Carmine repeatedly told me flyering was done in the towns, after double checking, I continually found that it wasn’t done at all. Flyering is the job of the promoter, whether he does it or has someone do it for him.

Carmine brought me into the wrestling business 3 years ago and really gave me a chance to shine 2 years ago writing on his website. Without him, there would be no "MiC" in DOI. Who else would give someone with no experience a booking job? Back in June, when Carmine asked no joke, dozens of people to book for him, and receiving a no from everyone, and SSCW looked like it was going to shut down, I agreed to do it. Now, the same people and others are asking Carmine for my job. Carmine has always been good to me, that is why it’s easier to leave than stay. Fighting with Carmine over and over again over booking was more aggravating than fun. I didn't find SSCW as a place of a wrestling business and felt it more as a place of ticket sellers and family members being pushed. I found our friendship, which has lasted for a decade, straining as more involved I got with SSCW. The bottom line is that it's Carmine's company and he has final say, and 4/5 times, I didn't agree with the final say, on a business-level and I'd rather my friendship preserved rather than hurting my vision and credibility as a booker. The straw that really broke the camels back was when Carmine informed he was booking the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time, The Honky Tonk Man, in a one on one match with Josh Deely. There was no FUCKING WAY, I will or would have my name attached to that. As of right now, that match is still booked. The only reason I drop this match, is so people can tell Carmine how fucking retarded is. When ticket sellers get pushed into the main event, than wrestlers who actually fucking deserve it, that is when you know there are problems. Again, being the booker, I thought I booked the matches, but obviously ticket selling is what gives you a big push in the booking philosophy of Carmine.

That's not take a shot at Josh Deely, who is actually a nice kid and respectful. If someone said if you sell X amount of tickets to work HTM, I guess I'd do it too. But I think Josh can agree, that he don't deserve that match over the other wrestlers in SSCW. In fact, Josh has been improving from his USA PW days.

Other factors leading to my leaving was that there many people were talking behind my back to Carmine. Carmine as a true friend let me know who the people were, and outside of another SSCW booker, everyone else will remain nameless as Carmine told me in confidence. I realize wrestling is all about politics, but for people to talk heinously, about my job, just because they couldn't bring the company to the same level, nor make it as profitable as me is a joke. It's something I really can't be bothered with, especially for DOI expansion. Explaining to Carmine and actually proving Carmine that these people were lying is not a task I need to be doing.

Specifically, I’m talking about ex-SSCW booker, Angel Martinez. Carmine let me listen in on a few phone calls, where Angel would just blatantly lie about me. I used to save AOL IM conversations, and send them to Carmine, just to hear how Angel would transcribe them back to Carmine. I don’t know why Angel felt he had to sabotage me, maybe because as a drunk, green booker with no previous booking experience, I made more money for SSCW and brought more fans to SSCW, than he ever did with all the experience he got. Ask Carmine, if you think I’m blowing smoke. SSCW made more money, drew more fans, and had the biggest buzz it ever had under my booking watch. So I guess I’d be pissed too if some unknown was able to do a job better than a person who’s been around a long time. I see why Angel did what he did, but don’t try pretending you’re my friend, and talk negatively about Carmine to me. That’s called stirring the pot.

It's hard working on a business level with Carmine due to his condition and with him not being able to see what goes on, who can wrestle, who can't wrestle, and explaining why a ticket seller shouldn't be working the Honky Tonk Man or a Bam Bam Bigelow is something I don't have time to devote to. Wasting time on the phone all day is something that I'm not fond of. Imagine the horror I was feeling when I booked Bam Bam Bigelow to go over cleanly against Mr. Puerto Rico, only to have it changed because Mr. Puerto Rico sold 30 tickets to work The Bammer. Mr. PR wins the match. I was fucking disgusted, and right there is when I questioned staying in SSCW. I understand Carmine appreciating Frank Goodman’s effort of using ticket sellers, but you would never in a million years see a ticket seller go up against a legend in USA PRO. I am pretty sure Frank Goodman wouldn't want to book Josh Deely vs HTM either. It’s disrespectful. Maybe one cluster match, but at the same time, if it turns off 50% of your crowd from ever coming back, is it really worth it?

At the last show, Carmine said the owner of the building called to say there were beer bottles at the show. No fucking shit, you run the show in the bar. After finding out who drank them, Carmine said it was my responsibility to make sure people don’t drink at the shows. Well there are 2 locker rooms in Clifton, 67 workers booked, which 1/3 don’t even belong in a ring and only one of me. I can’t be keeping bar tabs of what people do. Not to mention you have someone planting a bottle of peach schnapps where the owner of the building was sitting, (You know who you are) you can figure out how frustrated I would get at Carmine, who sits at home playing PS2, when there is a show going on, and doesn’t see everything and understand everything that goes on at a big venue show. Not to mention that Carmine had the gall to blame the DOI because someone took a dump on the floor of the bathroom. His words, “Taking shits is a DOI thing”. Wow, it’s not even worth arguing the stupidity of that statement. I mean what does he want me to retaliate with, "Not leaving your house is a SSCW thing." Come on, that's wack.

Also at the last show, three people, Jason XL, Joel Grayson, and Ma Viper all helped clean up the building. Carmine’s payment, “Thank you, but you’re not getting paid.” That was pretty lousy. If they didn’t clean up the building with myself, then they would’ve lost the building. I was never given a clean up crew or a security crew, which is now being installed in SSCW.

I truly think right now SSCW and JAPW are the top two Jersey promotions today. I feel that I brought SSCW to a new level that it was never on before and gave it a great buzz with my work there. The talent there such as Jay Lethal, Tyler Payne, The Solution, The DRS, AMIL, Sonjay Dutt, M-Tizzle, Fred Sampson, Johnny Bravado, Low Life Louie, John Shane, Tara Charisma, Dan Barry, Plazma and others are fantastic and will provide SSCW with good quality matches. I'm glad these wrestlers/talent had a chance to shine and I hope they continue to shine on future SSCW shows. SSCW is now at a big point in its career and hopefully SSCW can maintain their spot as one of the top promotions in NJ. I bet due to Angel’s talking, that Johnny Bravado and Louie get dropped from SSCW shows. I don’t know why Angel hated on Bravado and Louie, maybe because Louie and Bravado are fucking crazy hardcore wrestlers, and both can actually wrestle when they want, which was a long term storyline that I wrote out, that was shot down, despite being the booker. I mean at one point, Angel had Carmine conviced to fire Low Life Louie. Ask anyone in the know, and they will tell you. Carmine was and I do believe still influenced by the wrong people who have their self-interests at mind, not SSCW’s. Bison and Louie were a part of the biggest and most successful shows in SSCW history, so seriously just fucking knock it off with the hating.

Oh and Angel, I planted so many comments to you on purpose just so I can hear how it would go back to Carmine. You think those NY comments I told you weren’t planted to you? I just wanted to see how many people you tell. Even Carmine knows it. Thanks for calling the Magic of the Shaolin Wrecking Crew and trying to spread your shit. After your dealings with other people, I should’ve known better to ever get involved in SSCW because you got Carmine’s ear.

To Magic, I always was and is a fan of you guys as wrestlers and people. I hope you realize Angel was just trying to stir the pot. I had big plans for SWC in the long term.

I have heard that Vicious Vin will be taking over my job as booker. Hopefully he won’t erase everything I did, and keeps the Tradition Cup (My idea) around. Honestly, with Vicious Vin booking, I think SSCW will turn into Ticket Selling USA. The March show should be good, but after that, I just see Main events of Vicious Vin vs Mr. Puerto Rico and Josh Deely vs HTM.

For shits and giggles, here was what I had planned for March 27. Hopefully Vin and Carmine can top it:

Rob Eckos vs Damian Adams in a Cage Match for the SSCW Belt
Slyk Wagner Brown vs Sonjay Dutt
Dan Barry vs Reefer for the Cruiserweight Belt
Solution vs The DRS for the tag belts
AMIL vs CSC vs SWC vs Corvis Fear/Rush
Tyler Payne vs Jay Lethal
#1 Women Contender 6 Pack Match
Cindy Rogers vs Mercedes Martinez vs Ariel vs April Hunter vs Alere Little Feather vs Lucious Lily
SSCW Womens Title match… Tara vs Alicia

Notice no ticket sellers… SSCW doesn’t need them now. Big names aren’t even needed, as fans just want to see wrestling in NJ.

I will still be acting like a madman and getting drunker than ever on the DOI site. 2004 is going to a big year for the DOI. We have great working relationships with many promotions and I do feel working for SSCW, where I don’t think things are done right, certainly isn't fair on a DOI level. I hope everyone can understand my decision. To all the talent on SSCW, thanks for making my time there enjoyable. To my DOI brothers, thanks for being there especially Doc, Joel and Viper. To the people in Carmines ear, I know who you are and you all are insecure and one day you might be able to drop the silliness. PRCW is a horrible idea.

Since a mass email and a post on the DOI board went up, I have received 4 job offers to work elsewhere. Whatever I decide to do, it will be posted on the DOI site. Right now, making the DOI better than ever is my main concern.

I especially would like to thank Mike Zevon for giving me advice and playing ideas off of him. Since joining the DOI, Zevon has always been a stand up guy and always 100% honest whether good or bad with me. I appreciate it you little jew lol. Also, John Shane was another great guy who deserves a booking spot in any promotion. The guy is a natural and when SSCW was first looking for a booker, he should have been there before I ever was. Thanks John for tossing back ideas. Hopefully Shane will have some influence in SSCW.

In closing, good luck to SSCW on their future shows, and hopefully the rumor I'm hearing about March 27th takes place. It might be the only thing that will keep SSCW in a profitable position. I don’t wish no ill will to SSCW. The main purpose of this rant is to open up Carmine’s eyes to make the fed bigger and to see what really goes on. It’s time to take the first steps outside, literally, and run your own company with an iron fist.

Well I think I hit everything. I know Carmine is afraid of message board posts bashing his company, so please refrain from doing it, unless you are going to attach your own name to it. I know I opened up a whole can of worms with the Angel Martinez stuff, but like Low Life Louie’s hotline, there are no punches pulled. I don’t wish anything bad to Angel, except for him to realize what he did to me, to SSCW and to Carmine, if he doesn’t realize what all that talking did.

Oh and how long before this gets posted on the USA Pro board with negative posts by all the same old usual suspects?
Actually, the USA Pro board has been good as of late with the Tammy Sytch news, which I’ll get into in this report. 7000 hits, that’s good for USA Pro. That is what wrestling is all about, and how a message board can be used positively. If you haven’t seen the Tammy Sytch post, where she discusses her retirement, check out http://www.usaprowrestling.net

WHEWWWWWWWW. Ok take a quick break, re-read above, and let’s hit some more shit.

Ready?

Aight. Make sure to call Low Life Louie’s NEW Shoot Hotline at 1-718-707-1014
It’s updated everyday and nothing is left unturned.

Now, back to the Tammy Sytch news. Apparently, she’s going to retire after fulfilling all her current bookings. Tammy as Sunny, revolutionized the diva role in pro wrestling. Without Tammy, there would be no Trish Stratus. No Sable. No Stacy Keibler. While Tammy wasn’t a woman’s wrestler, she opened the doors for them. Fans never wanted to see womens wrestling, with non-attractive women like Moolah or Mildred Burke. Today, fans got into womans wrestling because of their looks. Just recently, fans have appreciated their skills as a wrestler. Without Sunny, I believe this wouldn’t of been possible.

Miss Elizabeth will always be considered the first LADY of the WWF. Sunny will be always remembered as the first WOMAN in the WWF. Women were written in storylines and received more face time, due to Sunny’s work. Whether she was getting slopped by Phineas Godwinn or getting into a catfight with Sable or getting a birthday cake in the face by Shawn Michaels, Sunny was always a character that you wanted to see more of.

It is a shame that the WWF never did her right and give her the Diva of the Decade Award during their “RAW X” awards. While Trish Stratus has made waves for women wrestling and divas for 4 years, those doors would’ve never been opened for her if it wasn’t for Sunny. Who knows if WWF would of even hired Trish, Victoria, Torrie Wilson, Sable, etc, if it wasn’t for Sunny’s success? If Sunny failed, you can bet that women wouldn’t be featured prominently on WWF TV.

Good luck to Tammy in her future endeavors and hopefully fans will give this legend and history-changing diva the respect she deserves.

Look for an April Hunter DVD McReview, as well as a few new Mctape Reviews on the DOI site in the upcoming dates.

Look for new interviews with Sonjay Dutt, The Solution and more as well.

Look for some Magners and Guiness to be flowing sometime this week as well! (Beware those kidney punches too lol)

Don’t forget that Pro Wrestling World 1 debuts this weekend with three shows on Feb 6, Feb 7 and Feb 8. Check out the Steve Corino interview on this site for all the information and some questions about World 1. It’s very informative.

That’s it for this time as I’m already up to page 11 in Microsoft Word.

Till next time, drink Jameson.
