What up all you DOI maniacs and welcome to the most infamous column here on the DOI, the blatantly ripped off from JR, McRoss Report! We got a lot to discuss, and I got a lot to do, such as copy and paste college essays so away we go.
First things first. There have been a lot of people who are complaining and arguing over about other people’s columns on this site. Specifically, I’m talking about Billy Reil’s “Reil World” columns and Dana Dameson’s “Diary” and soon-to-posted “Love-Line” columns. On the flip side, there have been a few people who have dropped me lines about these columns saying they liked how DOI will have special guest columnists on are site, but there have been more complaints about these two columns than anything else.
First off, what someone else writes is not the opinion of myself, Mike Zevon or anyone here on the DOI staff. If someone writes something, complain to the person who wrote it. I’m not telling you to publically respond to it, but talk to the person who wrote it, and see if you can work something out. The DOI doesn’t tell people what to write, doesn’t ask people to write for us, nor edits what people send in to us. We are a wrestling newsletter and a website, and if someone decides to use us as a way of expressing themselves and wanting to get their opinions out there, myself and the DOI are all for it. You want to write a column, we put it up, as long as it’s legible and for the most part grammatically correct. (It doesn’t have to be 100% grammatically correct, or none of my reviews would be up on the site lol)
Secondly, on this people complaining about other people’s columns, I understand why you need to vent to me and Zevon or anyone else in the DOI, but realize we aren’t the ones writing this. Don’t ask us to take down or edit other people’s columns, we’re putting what is sent to us. I know this will strain some relationships, but if you can’t realize the we’re just putting up what is sent to us, a News/Opinion/Information wrestling website, then it’s moot arguing over it. The DOI is not looking for problems with anyone, and these Reil and Dana columns complaints/arguments are getting out of hand, and honestly I don’t agree with everything either columnist says, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Thirdly, the one complaint I have got is that these columns are not 100% about wrestling. Well neither is this one either, but it will remain on the site. The 100% wrestling stuff goes into the newsletter. The site has taken off, and I realize we will have to take in some of the negative feedback as well as the positive, and I accept that, but to say that every column must be 100% about wrestling or it has to go is absurd. If you look at the DOI site, we got Restaurant Reviews, a soon to be posted Love Advice column, a message board and more, that really doesn’t pertain about wrestling 100%, but is written by people in the wrestling business. The DOI is not like all these other sites that are a pep rally for promotions or just a press release site with a few interviews peppered in here and there. The DOI is all about having fun, partying like Jake The Snake and having a good time. If someone wants to write a freakin Restaurant review, and pimp what they’re doing, then I say go for it, it’s something funny, and I’d rather read that, then some press release or how the Giants got whipped by The Falcons. I’d rather read about Billy Reil talking about pus and Dana talking about her first few days in the wrestling business then read a message board or see how many sex sites can spam my email account. Pretty much, I rather read commentaries and columns that are designed to be funny and a good way to kill a few minutes, then have nothing to read at all.
Fourthly, I have received ONE praise, and zero negative comments about Monsta Mack’s columns on this site. Instead of everyone being negative, and complaining about others columns, how about posting or telling DOI people or telling Monsta Mack, hey man, great column on the site, I enjoy reading what Monsta Mack has to say. I know I fucking do. If someone takes time to write something, I respect that, as I know how much time is consumed in writing something. Whether you agree with the content or the opinions stated is another thing, but it’s funny how I hear complaints about Dana and Billy more than I hear what a great job Monsta Mack is doing on this site.
Oh sorry to break up this mini-rant real fast, but I just had to inform the INDEPENDENT WRESTLING WORLD, that the Superstar destined for supreme glory in the sport of kings, has moved to Florida, nixing any hopes of Da Trek Squad. Yep you heard it here, Trekkie has moved to Florida, leaving Monsta Mack more time to write DOI Columns. Maybe we’ll hear some praise for Monsta Macks work, instead of ignoring it and complaining about Dana and Billy’s.
Bottom line is this. I understand and respect the opinions of the people who complained about the columns. Some of the stuff, I agree shouldn’t have been aired out publically, but hey the people who wrote it felt like it needed to be. I can’t be a censor for others. Please talk to the people who wrote what they wrote, and tell them why you felt it was wrong what they wrote. Trust me, you’ll get better results and probably clear any misunderstands up and be cool. I know that some of the stuff written on this site can be cleared up if the author was told what he/she wrote was wrong. Especially Dana.
Dana has been in the business for the 3 weeks and has worked 4 feds already. She is not 100% trained but wants to succeed and do well. She has not been taught everything. She has not been around to understand everything. When you get 4 bookings out of no where, you think you’re doing things 100% right, and may not realize the consequences of writing something. I know Dana is cool and means well, so just take it easy on her and teach her, and explain things, instead of blasting her, and I’m sure everyone will be able to coexist amicably. Imagine if you weren’t fully trained and booked in 4 promotions, in your second week in the business, one of which is probably the best today, in ROH. Bottom line, just cut some slack and realize some people aren’t as experienced as you.
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO that was a lot of typing.
SSCW had a show this past Friday, and it was the biggest draw in the history of the company, sans the Steiner show. The matches were great, the show was great, but the length sucked. That problem will be kinked out in the future, even if it means that some people will be booked on a rotating basis.
JAP’s show on Saturday was fantastic, but an example of why the wrestling business is down now. Check out my review on the main page of this site. To sum it up quick, JAP advertised and did everything possible to promote a show, with some of the biggest names and draws in the indies today and drew anywhere from 375 to a reported 500 people. With a WWE fan base dwindling, the indy fan base is dwindling as well, as these WWE fans either look for an alternative, or what seems to happen, quit watching wrestling. I think if the E gets back on track, the indy crowds will go back to drawing 1000+ crowds. Regardless, 500 people is a great fucking draw.
Oh yea, ROH is the exception, as they are probably the number 3 promotion in America right now.
Beware late night conversations about pipe cleaning!
It seems that every show I go to now has a 10 bell salute for someone in wrestling. It is sad to see so many good people die young.
LXW is this Saturday night. I for one am looking forward to this show. Shocker vs Ultimo Guerrero headlines this stacked show. I believe bell time is 6, so people can probably catch from intermission on of the CSWF show on Saturday night as well. Either that, or they can party like the DOI on 4/20!
WXW’s Super 8 Tournament is rapidly approaching on Nov 21. This is the only show in the indies to feature pure womans wrestling. Try to catch this once a year special tournament. It will be a great show, I guarantee it. It’s in Sciota, PA. I know PA might turn some people off, in the NY/NJ area, but it is only a 2 hour ride tops from Long Island, NY, and as close as a 20 minute ride for some people in NJ. Anyone looking for directions in the NY area can send me an email, and anyone looking for directions in general should email Dirty Sanchez, who can be found at http://www.dirtysanchezhotsauce.com
Livewyre returns to NYWC on Nov 22nd in what looks to be NYWC’s biggest show in their history. Running that day also is 3PW, who is fresh off of dropping all the crap and starting anew with ROH. See what I said before about people talking with each other and settling their differences? I’m sure if people talked to Reil and Dana, there would be no complaints, just like how ROH and 3PW were professionals and cleared everything.
I’m still waiting to see the Mr. Puerto Rico shoot interview from Eric Simms. I heard it’s the best fiction on the indies today.
Frank Goodman got into an accident on Friday. Call the hotline at 516 214 8333 to hear it LIVE. It’s funny to hear Goodman shriek like Jimmy James parents when they see their sons camel toe.
Also JCW returns on Nov 23 with their Crazy 8 Tag Tournament. Check it out it will be a good show. It is a quick ride and only 20 minutes from the Queens/Bronx/NYC area. The only thing that I was disappointed about is that Da Trek Squad will not be able to appear lol. Go check out JCW and ask Ricky to sing for you. I heard he sings a great rendition of “I heard you’re just a fan.” Just make sure Ricky isn’t eating any chicken.
I’m also happy to report that Ricky O is doing better, and he was quoted as saying “Stitches on your bitch tits sucks.” Thanks for the clarification.
In other news, Carmine Sabia, from SSCW, was reported as saying MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Amazon.com lost my Best of Wheel Of Fortune Volume 3 DVD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No word if Amazon lost it, or couldn’t believe that someone ordered it.
Man I got so wasted this weekend and blew 230 bucks on booze this weekend. Again, if anyone at all knows anyone in the alcohol business who is looking to sponsor or advertise on the DOI, please let me know, as all we ask for is free product not money in this situation.
Also on that, what is with Jameson raising their prices by one dollar? Plus, the Heineken 3 Liter bottle now costs $2.00 more than last year. Highway robbery.
Of course, I have 4 of the bottles on my floor, but regardless, that’s 8 dollars that could’ve paid the Lincoln Tunnel lol.
Watch out for Low Life Louie at weddings and his pitchfork!
Would anyone would to see “The Bi-San” from Ja-Pan wrestle? I know I would.
Watch out for coat jackets that mysteriously fill up with pepper and salt!
Will the Solution ever candy cane someone again? Maybe they can candy cane Slingblade Carl at NYWC at the pre-show tailgating party.
No Mike Zevon interruption this week, as he’s still on his 3 week long honey moon. I’m sure when Mike gets back he’ll have a whole lot of stories. I heard some of them already, and I was cracking up. I can’t wait to see if Mike will put some of his footage up on DOI Tv. I hope Fecal Threats returns too, don’t you Marc Adler? LoL
I talked to Jac Sabboth a week ago, and he denies all posting on the USA board. Believing him might be another case, with all the ip number shit, but he says it is not him. Ok Jac lol. He says it’s not him, so I figured I’d give him a spot on this column to defend himself.
LYNYRD SKYNYRD NOVEMBER 19th. If anyone is down and wants to party like a 1998 Scott Hall, let me know, as I will be there. I know a few people plan on partying like Darryl Strawberry, but it’s not recommended. This concert will be awesome and I can’t wait not to remember it lol.
Expect A HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ANNOUCEMENT on the DOI site soon.
Sorry for the short report, but I’m tired as hell and this was a long weekend. I’ll be back soon.
Keep checking the site this week for CMLL and AAA TV Reviews, a Best of the Doghouse Tape Review (Thanks Louie, you the man), a few interviews, the HUGE (with 89488 E’s like above) announcement and much more this week.
All in all thank you for reading this and for coming back to the site, I realize now that the DOI is starting to get a little bit of notoriety that people might not agree with everything that is on the site, and that is acceptable, but it is never personal from the DOI, and the DOI is just a forum for anyone in the indies.
Alright, time to party like the Masked Maniac watching Dallas and Carmine Sabia watching Who Wants to be a Millionaire combined!
