Hey everyone, welcome to McRankings, which is a monthly feature in the DOI newsletters. To spice up the DOI website, every week (Or as much free time as I can get) I will rank, in my opinion, the top 10 indy wrestlers that I have seen for the week. The monthly rankings will remain in the newsletter, which is available monthly. I will also rank the top 5 tag teams, top 5 women wrestlers and top 5 “Intangibles”. There will also be one “McMatch of the Weekend.” Rankings will be on what I’ve seen only, and I usually make all the top shows. NWA-TNA wrestlers will only be ranked if they wrestle in the northeast area, but I will not rank wrestlers on what they have done in NWA-TNA, but I will comment on it. This is what I look for in a ranking. The criteria is listed in order.

1- Workrate- how good was the match from a wrestling standpoint. A lot of rest holds? Non stop action? Ring psychology, footwork and selling moves will also factor into this.

2- Character/Crowd Reaction- How the wrestler did with the crowd. Was the crowd chanting boring or were they popping the whole match? Likewise, was the crowd sitting there or booing and cursing the hell out of the heels?

3- Finally win/loss records. This won’t really factor into it too much, but if 2 guys are tied, then I will give the nod to the guy with the better win/loss record.

What up everyone in DOI land and welcome to another McRankings. This weekend, I checked out UXW's first show of 2006 These rankings reflect that show only, as I only rank what I see.

TOP 10 SINGLES WRESTLERS

10. Ghanda Rhea Akbar (Eddie Guapo)- entered the TLC Rumble early and made it to the Final Four.

9. Low Life Louie- took on Abby, then took a beating from Mana.

8. Mike Tobin- picked up a huge win, defeating 3 other guys on Friday Night.

7. Balls Mahoney- lost to Homicide in a bloody fight.

6. Grim Reefer- lost the Extreme title to Trent Acid and had a good showing in the TLC Rumble.

5. Homicide- defeated Balls Mahoney and attacked Sabu at UXW.

4. Sabu- lost to Rhino in a bid to regain the UXW Heavyweight title.

3. Trent Acid- won the UXW Extreme Championship, then pulled an Iron-Man in the TLC Rumble.

2. Vordell Walker- defeated 33 other men in a brutal TLC Royal Rumble Match.

1. Rhino- defended the UXW title successfully in a wild match against Sabu.

TOP 5 TAG TEAM WRESTLERS

5. JD Michaels/April Hunter- worked as a team in the TLC Rumble, but wound up becoming victims of the CSC.

4. The Christopher Street Connection- lost to the OCK on Friday but played mind games with JD Michaels/April Hunter.

3. Bison Bravado/Slugger- had a wild brawl, but came up short against Mack/Havok.

2. The Outcast Killahz- defeated the CSC this past Friday.

1. Havok/Monsta Mack- defended the UXW Tag Team titles twice, and were successful both times.

TOP 5 WOMEN WRESTLERS
Note: On weeks where there weren’t enough women wrestlers, managers/valets will be placed in spots. Women wrestlers will always be ranked ahead of managers/valets.

5. "Pigeon Tits"- this fan is at every UXW show and despite being insulted evey show by the Masked Maniac, she still comes out to heckle!

4. The Bartenders at Club Amazura- $6 for beer, rough!

3. The Diamond Vixxen- made sure the ring didn't fall down while managing a manager.

2. Talia- ring announced at UXW and also got involved with Vordell Walker.

1. April Hunter- became the first woman to ever challenge for a UXW Mens Singles Title, but came up short in her quest.

TOP 5 INTANGIBLES
The intangibles will be used for the top 5 people/angles/interesting developments that occurred during the week.

5. ROH's Revolving Door- People will always come and go from indy companies, but this just seemed to be the week to quit ROH. With TNA locking guys to contracts, and now getting a primetime spot, it should be interesting to see what ROH's roster looks like 6 months from now.

4. Frank Goodman becomes a bigger Carney Than Joe Panzarino- Having people earn spots on the show through eBay??? What has the wrestling business come to!!!!??!?!?! Someone break out a cigar smoking monkey on the next show.

3. JAPW Announces Homicide vs Haas- This first ever ECW Arena match will take place on 2/18 in Philadelphia. JAPW is really pulling out all the stops, and with their line-up on 2/18, we could be looking at a Show of the Year Candidate.

2. UXW Puts On The Best & Tightest Show In Their History- Only 8 matches in 3 hours? I'm surprised Goodman didn't have a heart attack.

1. TNA Gets A Primetime TV Spot- Every year, everyone says "TNA will be out of business by December." Now, they have a primetime TV spot. Will TNA now be able to make an IMPACT (pun intended) on the wrestling business? We'll find out starting in April.

MATCH OF THE WEEK
For the UXW Heavyweight Title
Rhino vs Sabu
These guys have done battle before, but never before have these guys put on a match like this. I'd put this match against their WWE ECW match from this past June. This was a wild kick ass brawl featuring 200 chairs getting thrown in the ring, tons of brawling, broken tables, broken chairs and broken bodies. This is a MUST-SEE match to get on DVD. While the UXW Title has been flip flopping alot lately, Rhino is starting to bring some stability to a title that needs it more than ever.

Well that’s it for this week. Keep it here on the DOI site for all the good shit!

Let us know on the DOI message board or send us an email and tell us what you think about the rankings!
