Hey everyone, welcome to McRankings, which is a monthly feature in the DOI newsletters. To spice up the DOI website, every week (Or as much free time as I can get) I will rank, in my opinion, the top 10 indy wrestlers that I have seen for the week. The monthly rankings will remain in the newsletter, which is available monthly. I will also rank the top 5 tag teams, top 5 women wrestlers and top 5 “Intangibles”. There will also be one “McMatch of the Weekend.” Rankings will be on what I’ve seen only, and I usually make all the top shows. NWA-TNA wrestlers will only be ranked if they wrestle in the northeast area, but I will not rank wrestlers on what they have done in NWA-TNA, but I will comment on it. This is what I look for in a ranking. The criteria is listed in order.

1- Workrate- how good was the match from a wrestling standpoint. A lot of rest holds? Non stop action? Ring psychology, footwork and selling moves will also factor into this.

2- Character/Crowd Reaction- How the wrestler did with the crowd. Was the crowd chanting boring or were they popping the whole match? Likewise, was the crowd sitting there or booing and cursing the hell out of the heels?

3- Finally win/loss records. This won’t really factor into it too much, but if 2 guys are tied, then I will give the nod to the guy with the better win/loss record.

What up everyone in DOI land and welcome to another McRankings. This time, these rankings reflect WXW's 9/4 event, as I only rank shows that I see live. Enjoy.

TOP 10 SINGLES WRESTLERS

10. CJ O'Doyle/Molsonn (tie)- led an attack and a noosing on Jana.

9. Toa Maiva- joined up with the Purifier after his heinous attack on Jana.

8. Rockin Rebel- focused more on Sugaa than regaining his WXW title back.

7. Sugaa- lost in the four way for a shot at the WXW Champion.

6. Sinister X- came very close to earning a berth as the number 1 contender to the WXW World Heavyweight title.

5. "The Puerto Rican" Hurricane Havoc- secured a spot as the number 1 contender to the WXW World Heavyweight title.

4. Bison Bravado- lives to see another day as WXW Champion, despite losing to Kevin Matthews.

3. Kevin Matthews- defeated WXW World Champion, Bison Bravado, via DQ.

2. Jay Lethal- lost to Greg Matthews, while channeling the spirit of Macho Man Randy Savage.

1. Greg Matthews- defeated Jay Lethal in a good clean match.

TOP 5 TAG TEAM WRESTLERS

5. Phil Brown/Dirty Money- lost to The Goodfellas in an odd match.

4. LA Smooth/Samu- defeated Homicide/Slugga cleanly, even with Rob Dimension in the opposing corner.

3. Homicide/Slugga- lost to Samu/LA Smooth, despite having an advantage in most of the match.

2. Drew Blood/Devon Moore- Drew came close to becoming a double champion in WXW, but it wasn't Notorious Inc's night.

1. Tonic/TDS- the WXW regained their WXW tag straps in a good match.

TOP 5 WOMEN WRESTLERS
Note: On weeks where there weren’t enough women wrestlers, managers/valets will be placed in spots. Women wrestlers will always be ranked ahead of managers/valets.

5. Talia- her lack of conciousness was enough for Mercedes to retain her womens title belt.

4. Alere Little Feather- defeated Alicia, only after Alicia lifted her head up on a previous pin attempt.

3. Alicia- lost to Alere Little Feather, despite having her beat.

2. Krissy Vaine- was outsmarted in her loss to Mercedes Martinez.

1. Mercedes Martinez- defended her WXW Womens title against Krissy Vaine.

TOP 5 INTANGIBLES
The intangibles will be used for the top 5 people/angles/interesting developments that occurred during the week.

5. Increasing Gas Prices- With gas rising to 3 bucks and over all over the northeast, will this affect indy shows attendance numbers? It might, but hopefully fans can find public transportation as a way to get out to some of the promotions who are doing things right these days.

4. RF Video Releases "Behind Closed Doors" with Bret Hart & A New Honky Tonk Man Interview- I'll have reviews of these DVDs in the upcoming weeks, but from talking to RF Video employees, these will be two videos you don't want to miss. RF has personally guaranteed that the new HTM video is 5 hours of the best stuff he's ever filmed.

3. The Briscoe Brothers Return In Two Weeks- 9/17? Where will you be? I know that I will be at the PWU Animal House, watching the Briscoe Brothers return to Philadelphia. The Briscoes are exclusive to PWU for now, and help put PWU's tag ranks as one of the top tag divisions in the world today.

2. The Ref Hanson Shoot Interview- The only shoot interview on the market today that has a certain wrestling company scurrying to their lawyers. However, no jury can find someone guilty of having an opinion! This is one shoot interview you don't want to miss, considering the low price tag ($8.)

1. JAPW Returns on 9/10- It seems like it will be the night of dream matches as you have Homicide/B-Boy, Samoa Joe/Rhyno, Backseatz/SATs & Lethal/Haas. Couple that it in with a few rumored surprises, and we might be looking at the indy show of the year, or at least until 10/22, when JAPW debuts in Atlantic City.

MATCH OF THE WEEK
Greg Matthews vs Jay Lethal
There was nothing special about this match. There was no build-up or titles on the line. There wasn't even any prior history behind these two. These two just went out and had a good match, an opening match at that. Either that doesn't say much for WXW or it says that these two are two of the better guys on the indy scene. I'm with the latter and not with the former on that one.

Well that’s it for this week. Keep it here on the DOI site for all the good shit!

Let us know on the DOI message board or send us an email and tell us what you think about the rankings!
