Hey everyone, welcome to McRankings, which is a monthly feature in the DOI newsletters. To spice up the DOI website, every week (Or as much free time as I can get) I will rank, in my opinion, the top 10 indy wrestlers that I have seen for the week. The monthly rankings will remain in the newsletter, which is available monthly. I will also rank the top 5 tag teams, top 5 women wrestlers and top 5 “Intangibles”. There will also be one “McMatch of the Weekend.” Rankings will be on what I’ve seen only, and I usually make all the top shows. NWA-TNA wrestlers will only be ranked if they wrestle in the northeast area, but I will not rank wrestlers on what they have done in NWA-TNA, but I will comment on it. This is what I look for in a ranking. The criteria is listed in order.
1- Workrate- how good was the match from a wrestling standpoint. A lot of rest holds? Non stop action? Ring psychology, footwork and selling moves will also factor into this.
2- Character/Crowd Reaction- How the wrestler did with the crowd. Was the crowd chanting boring or were they popping the whole match? Likewise, was the crowd sitting there or booing and cursing the hell out of the heels?
3- Finally win/loss records. This won’t really factor into it too much, but if 2 guys are tied, then I will give the nod to the guy with the better win/loss record.
What up everyone in DOI land and welcome to another McRankings. This weekend I checked out 3PW's "Spring Cleaning" event, and these rankings reflect that show.
TOP 10 SINGLES WRESTLERS
10. CJ O'Doyle- lost to Simon Diamond after giving it his all.
9. Greg Spitz- defeated Drew Blood & Devan Moore in the PWU Showcase match at 3PW.
8. Monsta Mack- defeated The Rockin Rebel cleanly at 3PW.
7. The Blue Meanie- had an entertaining match with Cesar Smalls.
6. Cesar Smalls- did a great job of having the crowd in his hand during his match at 3PW.
5. Trent Acid- defeated Damian Adams in a match that had their crowd on their feet at all times.
4. Drew Blood- along with his Notorious Inc partner, Devan Moore, Blood looked very impressive in his ECW Arena debut.
3. Devan Moore- looked very impressive in his 3PW/ECW Arena debut.
2. Slyck Wagner Brown- defended the 3PW Heavyweight title successfully against Roadkill.
1. Simon Diamond- defeated CJ O'Doyle, before interjecting himself in to the 3PW Heavyweight title scene.
TOP 5 TAG TEAM WRESTLERS
I didn't see any tag teams this week, so there will be no tag rankings this week.
TOP 5 WOMEN WRESTLERS
Note: On weeks where there weren’t enough women wrestlers, managers/valets will be placed in spots. Women wrestlers will always be ranked ahead of managers/valets.
This was a weak week for womens wrestling, as 3PW only had 2 girls on the show, hence me being creative with these rankings.
5. The Girl who works at Tony Lukes- Damn, she must work 90 hours a week, because whenever I go there, she's always working that register.
4. The Girls at Show and Tell- stay away from the Chinese ones unless you like egg rolls. (And no, that's not a racist remark.)
3. Jasmin St. Claire- actually put a wrestling company up on eBay this week.
2. April Hunter- managed Slyck Wagner Brown at 3PW.
1. Talia- managed Simon Diamond to victory at 3PW.
TOP 5 INTANGIBLES
The intangibles will be used for the top 5 people/angles/interesting developments that occurred during the week.
5. CSWF to Present Another NWA World Title Match- On 4/30, Slyck Wagner Brown takes on Jeff Jarrett for not only the CSWF Championship, (which Slyck holds), but Slyck has a chance to become the NWA Champion, in this Champion vs Champion match.
4. Matt Hardy & Rhyno get released from the WWE- I can understand Rhyno losing his WWE job, because after all, WWE hasn't done anything with him ever since Rhyno has returned from his neck injury, but to fire Matt Hardy just seems wrong. The message WWE is sending is that if you steal another wrestlers' girlfriend, you will get a main event spot. If your slut girlfriend bangs your friend, then you are considered unemployed by the WWE. Pretty bizarre world up there in Stamford. I wonder if HHH would get fired if Stephanie McMahon was banging Chris Jericho?
3. The Messiah set to debut for PWU- This will be a good thing for Philly wrestling, as competition brings out the best in people.
2. 3PW Ownership Issue- One of these days, there will be an undisputed owner of 3PW.
1. Petey Williams wins the 9th Annual Super 8- Congratulations to this indy superstar on winning the most prestigious independent tournament of the year.
