Hey everyone, welcome to McRankings, which is a monthly feature in the DOI newsletters. To spice up the DOI website, every week (Or as much free time as I can get) I will rank, in my opinion, the top 10 indy wrestlers that I have seen for the week. The monthly rankings will remain in the newsletter, which is available monthly. I will also rank the top 5 tag teams, top 5 women wrestlers and top 5 “Intangibles”. There will also be one “McMatch of the Weekend.” Rankings will be on what I’ve seen only, and I usually make all the top shows. NWA-TNA wrestlers will only be ranked if they wrestle in the northeast area, but I will not rank wrestlers on what they have done in NWA-TNA, but I will comment on it. This is what I look for in a ranking. The criteria is listed in order.
1- Workrate- how good was the match from a wrestling standpoint. A lot of rest holds? Non stop action? Ring psychology, footwork and selling moves will also factor into this.
2- Character/Crowd Reaction- How the wrestler did with the crowd. Was the crowd chanting boring or were they popping the whole match? Likewise, was the crowd sitting there or booing and cursing the hell out of the heels?
3- Finally win/loss records. This won’t really factor into it too much, but if 2 guys are tied, then I will give the nod to the guy with the better win/loss record.
What up everyone in DOI land and welcome to another McRankings. This weekend I checked out JAPW, as they made their Philadelphia area return. These rankings reflect that show. I also caught three matches at CSWF, so I can't fully comment on that show.
TOP 10 SINGLES WRESTLERS
10. EC Negro- lost to Chris Candido in the middle of the ring at JAPW.
9. Neeno Capone- won the AWA 6-Way match at JAPW this past Saturday night.
8. Frankie Kazarian- lost to Trent Acid after interference.
7. Azraiel- defeated Grim Reefer to retain his JAPW Light Heavyweight championship.
6. Trent Acid- defeated Frankie Kazarian after some help from Johnny Kashmere.
5. Chris Candido- defeated EC Negro after his Blonde Bombshell.
4. Low Ki- defeated Danny Demanto during the World Wide Tapings, then lost to Samoa Joe during JAPW's "Caged Fury" event.
3. Samoa Joe- defeated Low Ki in a solid match.
2. Jay Lethal- lost to Homicide in a pretty good match, in his quest to win the JAPW Championship.
1. Homicide- defeated Jay Lethal to become the new JAPW Champion, and was involved in the brutal main event match.
TOP 5 TAG TEAM WRESTLERS
5. The Solution- defended their CSWF Tag Team titles against The Hall Brothers at CSWF.
4. The Christopher Street Connection- lost to the Carnage Crew, despite giving a strong effort.
3. The Carnage Crew- defeated The CSC in a pretty good tag team match.
2.Homicide/BBoy- had a kick ass match against Hart/Evans at JAPW.
1. Teddy Hart/Jack Evans- won the JAPW Tag Team Championships in an electrifying main event match.
TOP 5 WOMEN WRESTLERS
Note: On weeks where there weren’t enough women wrestlers, managers/valets will be placed in spots. Women wrestlers will always be ranked ahead of managers/valets.
Damn, I didn't see any women wrestle this week, so these rankings are pretty much hogwash here!
5. Tammy Sytch- was at JAPW, looking like Sunny again.
4. Liz- showed off her merchandise skills at JAPW.
3. Alicia- held it down at JAPW, and if there was any women wrestlers for her to wrestle at the show, she would've wrestled.
2. April Hunter/Cindy Rogers/Tracy Brooks/Ariel- participated in matches at CSWF which I did not see.
1. Luscious Lily- returned to the DOI with a huge CSWF review which you can read on the main page.
TOP 5 INTANGIBLES
The intangibles will be used for the top 5 people/angles/interesting developments that occurred during the week.
5. WrestleMania 21 is this Sunday- Despite whatever your thoughts are on the WWE, this will most likely be the best WWE show of the year. Wrestlemania is one of the reasons why most fans are into pro wrestling today.
4. Mana vs Abyss Match at CSWF- Everyone that saw it told me it was one hell of a match. Mana has been tearing rings up as of late, and that's two great matches in a row he's had with Abyss.
3. Jim Neidhart Shows Up at JAPW- I saw Neidhart last week at NWS, but he didn't get the pop that he received at JAPW when he showed up to help Teddy Hart and Jack Evans win the JAPW Tag Team titles.
2. JAPW Has A Great Philly Outing- By drawing 550+ fans, JAPW showed that their product is strong enough to draw anywhere.
1. Hectic Week For Homicide- After personal turmoil, Homicide won the JAPW Heavyweight Championship, and was part of one the better cage matches I have seen in recent memory.
