Hey everyone, welcome to McRankings, which is a monthly feature in the DOI newsletters. To spice up the DOI website, every week (Or as much free time as I can get) I will rank, in my opinion, the top 10 indy wrestlers that I have seen for the week. The monthly rankings will remain in the newsletter, which is available monthly. I will also rank the top 5 tag teams, top 5 women wrestlers and top 5 “Intangibles”. There will also be one “McMatch of the Weekend.” Rankings will be on what I’ve seen only, and I usually make all the top shows. NWA-TNA wrestlers will only be ranked if they wrestle in the northeast area, but I will not rank wrestlers on what they have done in NWA-TNA, but I will comment on it. This is what I look for in a ranking. The criteria is listed in order.
1- Workrate- how good was the match from a wrestling standpoint. A lot of rest holds? Non stop action? Ring psychology, footwork and selling moves will also factor into this.
2- Character/Crowd Reaction- How the wrestler did with the crowd. Was the crowd chanting boring or were they popping the whole match? Likewise, was the crowd sitting there or booing and cursing the hell out of the heels?
3- Finally win/loss records. This won’t really factor into it too much, but if 2 guys are tied, then I will give the nod to the guy with the better win/loss record.
What up everyone in DOI land and welcome to another McRankings. This weekend I checked out PWU and NWS. Both were unique shows. Here's how the rankings went down in my eyes this week.
TOP 10 SINGLES WRESTLERS
10. Bison Bravado- Was heavily involved in PWU's show, setting up a WXW World Title program with Rockin Rebel. Also
debuted as the Tsunmai Xpress with his tag partner, Mana, in NWS.
9. Johnny Thunder- picked up a singles victory over Cabbie in NWS.
8. Cabbie- was part of the main event at PWU, lost to Thunder at NWS.
7. Mana "The Polynesian Warrior"- was dominant in the main event at PWU, debuted with Bison Bravado as Tsunmai Xpress in
NWS.
6. Rockin Rebel- was part of the huge 8 main event at PWU, laid down several challenges at PWU, and also started
his WXW Title feud on Saturday afternoon.
5. Tony Devito- took and gave a beating during the 8 man brawl at PWU.
4. Trent Acid- took a thrashing, in a losing effort, in the PWU 8-Man Tag.
3. Archadia- represented AWA positively, at PWU in a triple threat match.
2. Envy- took the fall in the AWA three-way match on Saturday afternoon.
1. Neeno Capone- Mr. "Untouchable" picked up a singles victory in his PWU debut, defeating Archadia & Envy.
TOP 5 TAG TEAM WRESTLERS
5. Damian Adams/Rob Eckos- dominated the NWS tag team champions, before the champs resorted to illegal tactics.
4. Superfriends (Hayden/Lynch)- were absolutely entertaining in a loss to the Salvation.
3. Drew Blood/Devan Moore- Won the PWU Tri-State Tag Team Titles, after Bomboy turned on Din Mak.
2. The Dynamic Sensation/Tonic- went down to SLG/Connor at PWU.
1. Supreme Lee Great/Zac Connor- picked up a huge tag win in their WXW tag team match at PWU.
TOP 5 WOMEN WRESTLERS
Note: On weeks where there weren’t enough women wrestlers, managers/valets will be placed in spots. Women wrestlers will always be ranked ahead of managers/valets.
5. Tara from Mark'd- Yes it's a slow week. Tara was involved at PWU by spraying Ashe Samuels with Silly String.
4. Diamond Vixxxen- managed in the Salvation vs Superfriends extravaganza match.
3. Luscious Lily- managed Pyscho Bitch to PWU Womens Gold.
2. Alere Little Feather- lost in a bid to win the PWU Womens Championship.
1. Pyscho Bitch- won the PWU Womens Championship, by administering a beating on Alere Little Feather.
TOP 5 INTANGIBLES
The intangibles will be used for the top 5 people/angles/interesting developments that occurred during the week.
5. "Willy The Worker" Sends His/Her Letter to DOI- I've heard many names being accused of being Willy, and only person
I've talked to has been able to figure out who it is. The only thing is that person doesn't know if he/she is right or not.
"Willy" has told the DOI that he/she will reveal themselves in a DOI interview when the time is right. And yes, the person
is in the NY/NJ area, and yes, false information was planted to others. (Sometimes you have to see
who you can trust.) Just read the interview when it's ready.
4. Politics in wrestling- You don't say? After an interesting conversation with Eddie Guapo on Saturday night, he gave
me some inspiration for a future McPinions column, as I will look at some politics in indy wrestling. Anyone looking
to drop any info before I start that column can email me before I start typing this one up.
3. CZW and PWU announce partnerships with various promotions- WXW, IWA-MS, AWA, IWS, WAW, Chikara, DCW, & other promotions
were all busy making friends on Saturday night, as some of these promotions announced deals with PWU or CZW on Saturday.
2. Anthony Deblasi vs Mike Johnson- Tony Devito said something funny to me the other day. "It's funny that dirt sheet
writers have heat." I think it's even funnier that there is bus-trip heat. You can follow this earth shattering story
on The Masked Maniac Hotline, Wrestling-News.com & PWInsider.com. The DOI will have a press release from Anthony Deblasi
soon, announcing his ownership of Eastern Championship Wrestling.
1. ECWA Announces The Competitors for the 9th Annual Super 8 Tournament- The DOI will be covering the ECWA Super 8 in-depth
like usual this year, as we will present blast from the past features, in addition to interviews with the competitors.
Look for interviews with Puma, Ryker, Dux, Matson & the other Super 8 competitors soon. Anyone from the NY/NJ area looking
to go to the Super 8, but doesn't have a car to get there, check out WrestlingBusTrips.com, as Mr. Johnson will be
hosting a bustrip to the top independent tournament of the year.
