Hey everyone, welcome to McRankings, which is a monthly feature in the DOI newsletters. To spice up the DOI website, every week (Or as much free time as I can get) I will rank, in my opinion, the top 10 indy wrestlers that I have seen for the week. The monthly rankings will remain in the newsletter, which is available monthly. I will also rank the top 5 tag teams, top 5 women wrestlers and top 5 “Intangibles”. There will also be one “McMatch of the Weekend.” Rankings will be on what I’ve seen only, and I usually make all the top shows. NWA-TNA wrestlers will only be ranked if they wrestle in the northeast area, but I will not rank wrestlers on what they have done in NWA-TNA, but I will comment on it. This is what I look for in a ranking. The criteria is listed in order.
1- Workrate- how good was the match from a wrestling standpoint. A lot of rest holds? Non stop action? Ring psychology, footwork and selling moves will also factor into this.
2- Character/Crowd Reaction- How the wrestler did with the crowd. Was the crowd chanting boring or were they popping the whole match? Likewise, was the crowd sitting there or booing and cursing the hell out of the heels?
3- Finally win/loss records. This won’t really factor into it too much, but if 2 guys are tied, then I will give the nod to the guy with the better win/loss record.
What up everyone in DOI land and welcome to another McRankings. This weekend I checked out UXW's marathon event in Long Island, NY. Alot of wrestlers worked at that show, and these rankings reflect that show.
TOP 10 SINGLES WRESTLERS
10. Deranged- almost went the distance in his chance to regain the UXW Extreme Championship.
9. Raven- tried to outwrest the UXW Championship out of Balls Mahoney's hands in a losing effort.
8. Balls Mahoney- defeated Raven for the first time in UXW to retain his UXW Heavyweight Championship.
7. Steve Corino- lost to the ex-WWE Tag/Hardcore Champion, Al Snow, in the main event of UXW's show.
6. Al Snow- defeated Steve Corino after going toe-to-to with Corino for nearly an hour.
5. Xavier- was the last person eliminated in the Extreme championship match at UXW.
4. Elix Skipper- won the UXW Extreme Championship in a humongous 6 Way Dance.
3. Jay Lethal- wrestled very competitively against Mike Kruel and Chris Candido at UXW.
2. Mike Kruel- was lastly eliminated in the three way dance for the UXW US Championship.
1. Chris Candido- won the UXW US Championship in an excellent three way dance.
TOP 5 TAG TEAM WRESTLERS
5. The Solution- The UXW tag team champions hold the belts for another show after having their match stop short due to an accidental injury.
4. Outcast Killahz- were looking good before having the match stop short due to an unfortunate injury.
3. Balls Mahoney/Axl Rotten- cut a promo at UXW and teased that they'd be interested in teaming up again.
2. Ivan/Little Adolph- defeated the CSC in UXW, after cutting a racist promo.
1. Christopher Street Connection- went down in defeat to Ivan/Little Randolph, despite looking like the better team.
TOP 5 WOMEN WRESTLERS
Note: On weeks where there weren’t enough women wrestlers, managers/valets will be placed in spots. Women wrestlers will always be ranked ahead of managers/valets.
5. Liz- didn't even take tickets at UXW but sometimes it's just a bad week for womens wrestling.
4. Alicia- was at UXW checking out the show. Did I tell you it was a slow week for womens wrestling yet?
3. Alere Little Feather- was at UXW representin'. Yes it was a slow week.
2. The Diamond Vixxxen- it's a slow week folks. She managed a manager in Johnny Diamond.
1. Luscious Lily- helped Crazy Ivan/Little Adolph gain victory over the CSC.
TOP 5 INTANGIBLES
The intangibles will be used for the top 5 people/angles/interesting developments that occurred during the week.
5. PWU Draws Their Highest Paid Crowd- It's good to see good things happen to good people, as PWU drew 310 fans, who watched The Sandman, Tony Devito, Mana and others do battle.
4. ROH Celebrates Three Years of Existence- Can ROH celebrate three more?
3. Bison Bravado Wins the WXW Championship- The WXW Championship hasn't seen stability in a while. Could "The People's Bise" change all that?
2. At Least 1500+ Fans Show Up For Wrestling in Long Island- UXW and NYWC combined drew 1500+ fans. And who said wrestling doesn't draw in Long Island? This was a great sign for NY and hopefully a sign for promotions to realize that Long Island can draw.
1. Mick Foley shows up at UXW- No one thought that Foley would be at the UXW show, not even UXW promoter, Frank Goodman. Foley showing up at UXW to lead everyone into an ECW Reunion was just awesome to see live.
