Hey everyone, welcome to McRankings, which is a monthly feature in the DOI newsletters. To spice up the DOI website, every week (Or as much free time as I can get) I will rank, in my opinion, the top 10 indy wrestlers that I have seen for the week. The monthly rankings will remain in the newsletter, which is available monthly. I will also rank the top 5 tag teams, top 5 women wrestlers and top 5 “Intangibles”. There will also be one “McMatch of the Weekend.” Rankings will be on what I’ve seen only, and I usually make all the top shows. NWA-TNA wrestlers will only be ranked if they wrestle in the northeast area, but I will not rank wrestlers on what they have done in NWA-TNA, but I will comment on it. This is what I look for in a ranking. The criteria is listed in order.

1- Workrate- how good was the match from a wrestling standpoint. A lot of rest holds? Non stop action? Ring psychology, footwork and selling moves will also factor into this.

2- Character/Crowd Reaction- How the wrestler did with the crowd. Was the crowd chanting boring or were they popping the whole match? Likewise, was the crowd sitting there or booing and cursing the hell out of the heels?

3- Finally win/loss records. This won’t really factor into it too much, but if 2 guys are tied, then I will give the nod to the guy with the better win/loss record.

What up everyone in DOI land and welcome to another McRankings. This weekend I checked out AWA, as they presented their first official weekly show. These rankings reflect this show soley, as I wasn’t able to make it to any other shows this weekend.

9. Kevin Matthews- defeated Bison Bravado in a hard fought match.

8. Mayhem- defeated Envy in a fast paced cruiserweight match.

7. Bobby Vee- became the AWA NA Champion by tapping out Danny Demanto.

6. Joe Hardway- lost his AWA NA Title without being pinned in a triple threat match.

4. Rob Vegas- had one of the better matches I’ve seen from him, against EC Negro at AWA.

3. EC Negro- continued his massive winning streak with a victory over Rob Vegas.

2. Neeno Capone- took Jay Lethal to the limit in the main event of AWA.

1. Jay Lethal- had a great match with Neeno Capone.

2. Projekt 13- lost to AMIL in a bid to win the AWA Tag Team Titles.

1. AMIL- defended their AWA Tag Team Championships successfully against Projekt 13.

TOP 5 WOMEN WRESTLERS
Note: On weeks where there weren’t enough women wrestlers, managers/valets will be placed in spots. Women wrestlers will always be ranked ahead of managers/valets.

5. The Glory Girls- I didn’t make the show, but congrats to Glorywrestling.com on another convention featuring a lot of indy women.

4. Liz- taking tickets one at a time at an indy show near you!

3. Cherri Delicious- managed Mass Destruction to victory.

2. Ariel- went down in a three count to Alicia in an AWA Womens title match..

1. Alicia- defended her AWA Womens title successfully against Ariel.

TOP 5 INTANGIBLES
The intangibles will be used for the top 5 people/angles/interesting developments that occurred during the week.

5. IHPW returns after shutting down for 3 days- Well who didn’t see that coming?.

4. Samoa Joe d. The American Dragon to retain the ROH World Heavyweight Title- In one of the most anticipated ROH title matches in history, Samoa Joe was able to keep up his unprecedented defense streak by tapping Dragon out.

3. Juventud Guerrera and Pyschosis to both wrestle for PWU- Two of the most famous luchadors will compete in Philly on 11/5 for PWU. With other high end indy talent booked on this show, this should be another solid effort from PWU.

2. October 9th shaping up to be a big day- October 9th is the date of not only WXW’s Elite 8, but CZW’s latest offering and WCICW’s Cancer benefit show. It doesn’t matter where you go, but make sure to check out one of these shows if you can.

1. Big Interviews Coming to the DOI- I don’t want to give away too much until it’s official, but I can say look for a DOI Interview with the Blue Meanie soon!.

MATCH OF THE WEEK
AWA
Neeno Capone vs Jay Lethal
One of the better matches in Neeno’s career, and another feather in the cap of one Jay Lethal. Both men battled each other hard here, and this match featured one of the most rifling chops I’ve heard in some time. There was a screwjob ending, to advance an AWA storyline, but despite that, this was a solid match from both competitors.

Well that’s it for this week. Keep it here on the DOI site for all the good shit!

Let us know on the DOI message board or send us an email and tell us what you think about the rankings!
