Hey everyone, welcome to McRankings, which is a monthly feature in the DOI newsletters. To spice up the DOI website, every week (Or as much free time as I can get) I will rank, in my opinion, the top 10 indy wrestlers that I have seen for the week. The monthly rankings will remain in the newsletter, which is available monthly. I will also rank the top 5 tag teams, top 5 women wrestlers and top 5 “Intangibles”. There will also be one “McMatch of the Weekend.” Rankings will be on what I’ve seen only, and I usually make all the top shows. NWA-TNA wrestlers will only be ranked if they wrestle in the northeast area, but I will not rank wrestlers on what they have done in NWA-TNA, but I will comment on it. This is what I look for in a ranking. The criteria is listed in order.

1- Workrate- how good was the match from a wrestling standpoint. A lot of rest holds? Non stop action? Ring psychology, footwork and selling moves will also factor into this.

2- Character/Crowd Reaction- How the wrestler did with the crowd. Was the crowd chanting boring or were they popping the whole match? Likewise, was the crowd sitting there or booing and cursing the hell out of the heels?

3- Finally win/loss records. This won’t really factor into it too much, but if 2 guys are tied, then I will give the nod to the guy with the better win/loss record.

What up everyone in DOI land and welcome to another McRankings. This weekend was a long one, as I went to AWA, PWU and IHPW. There was a lot of matches this weekend, which made the rankings more difficult. Here’s how I think it went down.

TOP 10 SINGLES WRESTLERS

10. Chris Idol- defeated Neeno Capone, in a match where he lost a lot of blood at AWA. Lost to Eric Cooper at IHPW.

9. Shawn Sheridan- defeated Dan Barry in a submission based match.

8. Monsta Mack- lost to Danny Demanto in a strong match.

7. B-Boy- defeated Chri$ Ca$h at PWU.

6. Deranged- lost a great match to Jack Evans at PWU.

5. Danny Demanto- defeated Monsta Mack at AWA. Lost in the first match of a horrible gauntlet at IHPW.

4. Slyck Wagner Brown- lost a highly competitive match with EC Negro at IHPW.

3. Jay Lethal- lost to Johnny Thunder at AWA. Defeated Jack Evans at IHPW.

2. Jack Evans- defeated Deranged at PWU. Had a strong match with Jay Lethal at IHPW.

1. EC Negro- defeated Jai Kronik in AWA. Went on to win the JCW Heavyweight title on Sunday in a great match with Slyck Wagner Brown.

TOP 5 TAG TEAM WRESTLERS

5. Hot N Sexy- lost in a 6 man tag match at AWA, then lost in 6 man tag at IHPW.

4. Ian Knoxx/Nick Gage- showed up with a lot of intensity at PWU against Rebels Army, in a match that they lost.

3. Rockin Rebel/Greg Matthews- brought the fight to PWU in an explosive hardcore match.

2. Trent Acid/Amazing Red- had an electric match, despite losing to the SAT on Saturday.

1. The SAT- defeated Trent/Red in a hard hitting match.

TOP 5 WOMEN WRESTLERS
Note: On weeks where there weren’t enough women wrestlers, managers/valets will be placed in spots. Women wrestlers will always be ranked ahead of managers/valets.

5. Kara Slice- wrestled for a minute or so, in the IHPW womens title match.

4. April Hunter- managed like a true manager at IHPW, as Slyck took the loss to EC Negro.

3. Alere Little Feather- took a hit at PWU as a security guard, then lost in a 4 way match for the IHPW womens championship.

2. Layla Herrera- had one of the best matches in her career against Alicia in AWA.

1. Alicia- defended her AWA Womens title against Layla Herrera. Won the IHPW womens title in a four way match.

TOP 5 INTANGIBLES
The intangibles will be used for the top 5 people/angles/interesting developments that occurred during the week.

5. IHPW closes down- Another Jersey fed expires after a short run.

4. PWU a success- PWU’s first show was a success and exceeded expectations. They have potential to change wrestling for the better.

3. NYWC Bitching- look for a future column by yours truly, discussing how NYWC deals with critics. They always mention my name to others, so this time, I’ll respond to them, and you can be the judge.

2. The NBC Angle in AWA- One of the best kept secret on the indies, and it should be interesting to see how it all plays out, as NBC tells the world who he is on 10/29.

1. Injuries on the indies- it seems that wear and tear is building up on everyone. People are going out. The reason for all this? To entertain the fans. Its easy to take what wrestlers do in the ring for granted, but after the recent injuries, it really makes you think.

MATCH OF THE WEEK
IHPW/JCW Joint Show
For the vacated JCW Heavyweight Championship
EC Negro d. Slyck Wagner Brown w/April Hunter to become the new JCW Champion
An excellent match here, that told various in-ring and out of ring stories. The progress of Negro, since the injury to his partner, has been remarkable. Slyck proved in another match why he’s one of the top guys on the indies today. Throw in April, showing what it takes to be a true female manager, then you had all the ingredients for a good match. I’d recommend going to http://www.rfvideo.com and checking out the IHPW tape, and fast forwarding straight to this match.

Well that’s it for this week. Keep it here on the DOI site for all the good shit!

Let us know on the DOI message board or send us an email and tell us what you think about the rankings!
