Hey everyone, welcome to McRankings, which is a monthly feature in the DOI newsletters. To spice up the DOI website, every week (Or as much free time as I can get) I will rank, in my opinion, the top 10 indy wrestlers that I have seen for the week. The monthly rankings will remain in the newsletter, which is available monthly. I will also rank the top 5 tag teams, top 5 women wrestlers and top 5 “Intangibles”. There will also be one “McMatch of the Weekend.” Rankings will be on what I’ve seen only, and I usually make all the top shows. NWA-TNA wrestlers will only be ranked if they wrestle in the northeast area, but I will not rank wrestlers on what they have done in NWA-TNA, but I will comment on it. This is what I look for in a ranking. The criteria is listed in order.

1- Workrate- how good was the match from a wrestling standpoint. A lot of rest holds? Non stop action? Ring psychology, footwork and selling moves will also factor into this.

2- Character/Crowd Reaction- How the wrestler did with the crowd. Was the crowd chanting boring or were they popping the whole match? Likewise, was the crowd sitting there or booing and cursing the hell out of the heels?

3- Finally win/loss records. This won’t really factor into it too much, but if 2 guys are tied, then I will give the nod to the guy with the better win/loss record.

What up everyone in DOI land and welcome to another McRankings. This week there was plenty of wrestling, and I checked out SSCW, CZW and ROH. There was a lot of competition for these spots, so here’s how I thought it went down.

TOP 10 SINGLES WRESTLERS

10. American Dragon- made Austin Aries tap out, in ROH.

9. Samoa Joe- defended his ROH title successfully against Doug Williams.

8. Insane Dragon- competed in SSCW and ROH, but lost both matches.

7. Azraiel- wrestled in Cruiser Combat. Lost to Trent Acid in a 6 man mayhem match.

6. Trent Acid- won an explosive 6 man mayhem match in ROH.

5. Jack Evans- looked good in Cruiser Combat. Also took a beating in ROH’s Ultimate Endurance match.

4. Alex Shelley- went 0-2 with losses in CZW and ROH, but had good matches this weekend.

3. Grim Reefer- won the incredible SSCW Cruiser Combat match.

2. Jay Lethal- looked good in Cruiser Combat. Defeated Matt Stryker in ROH.

1. B-Boy- went to the finals of SSCW’s Cruiser Combat. Also looked good in the CZW SoCal 4way match.

TOP 5 TAG TEAM WRESTLERS

5. The SAT- despite losing in CZW, they had a decent match.

4. Sonjay Dutt/Amazing Red- had a great match against Rave/M-Dogg 20 in CZW.

3. The Blackout- Ruckus and Sabian defended their CZW belts successfully this past weekend.

2. The Havana Pitbulls- Won the Ultimate Endurance match, to keep their ROH tag team titles.

1. Danny Maff/Whitmer- Stole the show at ROH, and looked amazing in their matches, as they went 3-1 in ROH.

TOP 5 WOMEN WRESTLERS
Note: On weeks where there weren’t enough women wrestlers, managers/valets will be placed in spots. Women wrestlers will always be ranked ahead of managers/valets.

5. Tara Charisma- managed her man, the SSCW Cruiserweight Champion, Ken Scampi, to victory this past Friday.

4. Becky Bayless- managed at SSCW, then went on to be part of a big Special K angle at ROH.

3. Allison Danger- cut many scathing and intriguing promos at ROH. She is one of the best hands down, when it comes to putting a storyline across to a live crowd.

2. Alere Little Feather- won the SSCW Womens title, but wasn’t on the top of her game.

1. Alicia- lost her SSCW Womens Championship on Friday.

TOP 5 INTANGIBLES
The intangibles will be used for the top 5 people/angles/interesting developments that occurred during the week.

5. ROH hits a new merchandise record- With a great product, and now better merchandise, ROH broke their merchandising record at Saturday’s show. Now I wonder, will the mailing list orders be down?

4. John Zandig discusses the rumors- At the CZW show this past Saturday, Zandig discussed the rumors about CZW getting tossed out of the arena. Zandig said they were not true, and that CZW was going to be in the ECW Arena for some time.

3. Mick Foley debuts in ROH- It doesn’t seem that this was enough to draw main stream fans, as the attendance number was in the norm. Mick did put over ROH very strongly in his promos.

2. Grim Reefer wins Cruiser Combat- Reefer adds the Cruiser Combat (no trophy though), as one of his achievements this year, which includes the Stengel Cup and the NYWC Heavyweight championship..

1. USA Pro/JAPW returns this weekend- Look for show previews this week on the DOI!

MATCH OF THE WEEK
SSCW
Cruiser Combat II Match
Finals: Grim Reefer vs B-Boy
An excellent effort by all 8 men involved. The finals between Reefer and B-Boy was fast, furious and back and forth. I’d love to see these guys wrestle each other again. This was easily the best match in SSCW’s history, and for this weekend.

Well that’s it for this week. Keep it here on the DOI site for all the good shit!

Let us know on the DOI message board or send us an email and tell us what you think about the rankings!
