Hey everyone, welcome to McRankings, which is a monthly feature in the DOI newsletters. To spice up the DOI website, every week (Or as much free time as I can get) I will rank, in my opinion, the top 10 indy wrestlers that I have seen for the week. The monthly rankings will remain in the newsletter, which is available monthly. I will also rank the top 5 tag teams, top 5 women wrestlers and top 5 “Intangibles”. There will also be one “McMatch of the Weekend.” Rankings will be on what I’ve seen only, and I usually make all the top shows. NWA-TNA wrestlers will only be ranked if they wrestle in the northeast area, but I will not rank wrestlers on what they have done in NWA-TNA, but I will comment on it. This is what I look for in a ranking. The criteria is listed in order.

1- Workrate- how good was the match from a wrestling standpoint. A lot of rest holds? Non stop action? Ring psychology, footwork and selling moves will also factor into this.

2- Character/Crowd Reaction- How the wrestler did with the crowd. Was the crowd chanting boring or were they popping the whole match? Likewise, was the crowd sitting there or booing and cursing the hell out of the heels?

3- Finally win/loss records. This won’t really factor into it too much, but if 2 guys are tied, then I will give the nod to the guy with the better win/loss record.

What up everyone in DOI land and welcome to another McRankings. This week I only checked out AWA, as I had plans on Saturday, and nothing was running on Sunday. Let’s roll.

TOP 10 SINGLES WRESTLERS

10. Dan Dynasty- picked up the pinfall over Justin Intoxicated in AWA.

9. Justin Intoxicated- lost to Dan Dynasty in an ok match.

8. Dan Payne- Defeated Rob Vegas to retain his AWA championship.

7. Rob Vegas- Unsuccessfully challenged for the AWA heavyweight title.

6. Danny Demanto- Lost to Joe Hardway in a bid to wrest the AWA NA title from him.

5. Joe Hardway- defended his AWA NA title against Danny Demanto.

4. Chris Idol- Lost to Pinkie, and now will see his manager, PVO, have his hair colored pink.

3. Mayhem- Lost to Azraiel in a competitive match.

2. Pinkie- picked up a win over Chris Idol.

1. Azraiel- defeated Mayhem in a strong match in AWA.

TOP 5 TAG TEAM WRESTLERS

5. Projekt 13- picked up a win by beating Jay Lethal and Joe Hardway in AWA.

4. Hot N Sexy – The AWA Tag team champions barely left AWA with their championship reign in tact.

3. Johnny Thunder/Dover- This makeshift team should’ve became the AWA Tag Team champions.

2. The Suicide Syndicate – Had one of the best matches in their career, despite losing, to AMIL, in AWA.

1. All Money Is Legal- Defeated the Suicide Syndicate in a very competitive match, to earn the top spot.

TOP 5 WOMEN WRESTLERS
Note: On weeks where there weren’t enough women wrestlers, managers/valets will be placed in spots. Women wrestlers will always be ranked ahead of managers/valets.

5. April Hunter/Alere Little Feather/Kara (tie)- There was only one womens match that I saw this weekend. Despite that, I heard all three of these girls had a good showing at NWS’s Intergender tournament.

4. Cherri Delicious- managed Ron Price in a losing effort.

3. Layla Herrera- One of the bigger heels in AWA, as a member of NDA.

2. Foxxy Dreams- Put up a hell of a fight against Alicia, in her failed attempt to defend her title.

1. Alicia- became the AWA Womens champion after defeating Foxxy Dreams.

TOP 5 INTANGIBLES
The intangibles will be used for the top 5 people/angles/interesting developments that occurred during the week.

5. CZW returns August 14th- CZW is really stacking up this show as one of their better ones of the year.

4. Julio Dinero/Kara win NWS’s Intergender Tournament- Good idea and concept for a tournament, but I think NWS dropped the ball spreading the word about it, as not too many online fans knew about it.

3. DRS win the WXW Tag Team Titles- In what looks like a perfect fit, the old school heel tag team wins the old school promotions titles.

2. Low Ki vs Jack Evans at USA PW- The next USA PW show is shaping up nicely, and with this match added, it brings even more intrigue to the show.

1. 2 Cold Scorpio debuts in ROH- I know there will be a lot of fans checking this out, as 2 Cold Scorpio makes his ROH debut, and his first wrestling appearance in the US in some time.

MATCH OF THE WEEK
AWA
AWA Womens Title Match
Alicia vs Foxxy Dreams

This match becomes the first womens match to become Match of The Week. Nothing else really stood out at the AWA show as must-see, but this womens match saw both girls hit hard and often. Other wrestlers in the crowd watching the match commented on how that was a good womens match, and due to both girls looking good and nothing else really standing out, this becomes the first womens match to earn this spot. Alicia becomes the women champion, and it shouldn’t be too long before Foxxy gets a rematch.

Well that’s it for this week. Keep it here on the DOI site for all the good shit!

Let us know on the DOI message board or send us an email and tell us what you think about the rankings!
