Hey everyone, welcome to McRankings, which is a monthly feature in the DOI newsletters. To spice up the DOI website, every week (Or as much free time as I can get) I will rank, in my opinion, the top 10 indy wrestlers that I have seen for the week. The monthly rankings will remain in the newsletter, which is available monthly. I will also rank the top 5 tag teams, top 5 women wrestlers and top 5 “Intangibles”. There will also be one “McMatch of the Weekend.” Rankings will be on what I’ve seen only, and I usually make all the top shows. NWA-TNA wrestlers will only be ranked if they wrestle in the northeast area, but I will not rank wrestlers on what they have done in NWA-TNA, but I will comment on it. This is what I look for in a ranking. The criteria is listed in order.

1- Workrate- how good was the match from a wrestling standpoint. A lot of rest holds? Non stop action? Ring psychology, footwork and selling moves will also factor into this.

2- Character/Crowd Reaction- How the wrestler did with the crowd. Was the crowd chanting boring or were they popping the whole match? Likewise, was the crowd sitting there or booing and cursing the hell out of the heels?

3- Finally win/loss records. This won’t really factor into it too much, but if 2 guys are tied, then I will give the nod to the guy with the better win/loss record.

What up everyone in DOI land and welcome to another McRankings. This week will be a special NYWC edition, as I only saw NYWC this weekend. Let’s roll.

TOP 10 SINGLES WRESTLERS

10. Nuke- defeated Mikey Whipwreck in a pier 9 brawl in NYWC.

9. Mikey Whipwreck- lost in an attempt to win back his NYWC Heavyweight Championship to Nuke.

8. Mike Mayhem- Despite having the Ratpak on his side, he lost to Jay Lethal in the first round of the tournament.

7. Damian Dragon- had a good back and forth match with Quiet Storm in the first round of the tournament.

6. Dan Barry- Barry is trying out a new style, but this time it was unsuccessful against Livewyre during a first round match at the Stengel Cup.

5. Damian Adams- wrestled a hell of a match against Reefer, before tapping out to the chronic crossface.

4. Quiet Storm- had a competitive match against Damian Dragon, before losing to Reefer in the semi finals of the Stengel Cup tournament.

3. Jay Lethal- defeated Mike Mayhem, before losing to Livewyre in NYWC.

2. Livewyre- defeated Dan Barry and Jay Lethal, before losing to Reefer at the NYWC’s Stengel Cup.

1. Grim Reefer- defeated Damian Adams, Quiet Storm and Livewyre to become the first ever winner of the Stengel Cup. All three matches were solid, and Reefer really shined in this tournament.

TOP 5 TAG TEAM WRESTLERS

5. Maison Rage/Dickie Rodz- With Rodz’s help, Maison Rage was able to win a battle royal to earn himself a shot at the NYWC Interstate Title.

4. The Ratpak – Brett Matthewz and Brian Myers really stood out as the top 2 Ratpak members during the battle royal, and as antagonists during Mayhems match.

3. Striker/Eckos- This is a team that should break up in NYWC after failing to win their NYWC tag titles back against the number 1 and 2 teams.

2. Spyder/Scampi – Seemingly looked like they would defend their NYWC tag team titles, until Spyder turned on Scampi and cost his team the championships and the win this past Saturday.

1. Tyler Payne/Wayne- Became the NYWC Tag Team Champions by defeating the number 2 and 3 teams in a belt on a pole match, as Wayne becomes the Tony Garea of NYWC.

TOP 5 WOMEN WRESTLERS
Note: On weeks where there weren’t enough women wrestlers, managers/valets will be placed in spots. Women wrestlers will always be ranked ahead of managers/valets.

5. Dark haired Hooters Girl- shades of Fabulous Moolah during her match with the Blonde Hooters girl at NYWC.

4. Blonde Hooters Girl- what an asset to womens wrestling based on her performance this past Saturday at NYWC.

3. Alicia- The DOI Secretary was there in full force at NYWC. She gets ranked over the hooters girls for having enough sense not to disgrace women wrestling like that!

2. Foxxy Dreams- Managed Damian Dragon in his match versus Quiet Storm.

1. Tara Charisma- managed the-then NYWC Tag Team Champions, Los Lucha Hermanos.

TOP 5 INTANGIBLES
The intangibles will be used for the top 5 people/angles/interesting developments that occurred during the week.

5. Teddy Hart shoots and scores- What will happen next in the never-ending saga of Teddy Hart?

4. CZW announces Homicide vs Messiah for the CZW Title- Now this is a match that will bring out the NY fans to Philly.

3. DOI now accepting advertisers- Support the cause and buy an ad today… they are as little as 25 bucks!.

2. Johnny Kashmere joins the DOI as columnist- I’m sure we’ll hear some controversial stories in the upcoming weeks!

1. H2 Shuts Down before running one show- What a fucking disgrace to wrestling.

MATCH OF THE WEEK
NYWC
STENGEL CUP FINALS
Grim Reefer vs Livewyre

This was a strong match to close the NYWC Stengel Cup. Both guys went all out and the crowd went nuts for the match. Both guys elevated NYWC’s worth in this match.

Well that’s it for this week. Keep it here on the DOI site for all the good shit!

Let us know on the DOI message board or send us an email and tell us what you think about the rankings!
