What's up everyone and welcome to a special preview for JAPW's first event of the year. JAPW had a career year in 2004, in every category. They drew more fans than ever before. Made more money than ever before. Had better matches and angles than ever before. They even had more fan support than ever before, and became in my opinion, and alot of other people's opinion- the Number 1 Indy Promotion for 2004.
2005 is a new year for everyone, including JAPW. JAPW recently announced a huge show on 3/26, which will take place at the ECW Arena. On the way to JAPW's return show to the ECW Arena, JAPW stops at their homebase, at the Rec Center in Rahway, NJ for their "WILD CARD" show. The premise of the show is that all the champions will be defending their belts at this event, but the catch is they don't know who their challengers will be. It should be interesting to see if this hurts or helps JAPW, because usually surprises are hard to deliever to a smart audience.
With that said, let's take a look at JAPW's WILD CARD show, as I will give my predictions and thoughts.
NOTE: The champions will NOT know their opponent(s) until that night.
The announced wrestlers on this card can also take part in any of these "Wild Card" title opportunities.
Pin The Champ Challenge #1
Dan Maff vs ???
Like it says anyone on the roster can be in any of these matches, so it could be any wrestler in this spot. Honestly, I don't care who the wrestler is here, as long as Maff loses the belt. Maff's 1+ year title reign hasn't been as good as his first title reign where he was a very over and dominant babyface. I think Maff needs to drop the belt, then try again with his third title reign. As far as who I would like to see in this match. I think either Homicide, Teddy Hart or Jay Lethal would be top notch challengers, but then again, a returning Trent Acid would be a viable challenger, as he was screwed several times over in his last title match with Maff.
Pin The Champ Challenge #2
Azrieal vs ???
Azrieal is coming off a huge feud with Jay Lethal. Could Jay Lethal be Azrieal's opponent here in a rematch and to add another chapter to this book? It's possible, but probably not the most likely situation. Other guys I can see in this spot are El Generico, Insane Dragon, Grim Reefer or Deranged. With a million cruisers out on the indy scene, it could literally be anyone, just like the Heavyweight title match.
Pin The Champ Challenge #3
Christopher Street Connection vs ???
This should be interesting. There aren't that many tag teams who haven't already fought for the tag titles this past year. Maybe a combination of the IWS guys, a combination of the Strong Style Thugs or a debuting tag team could fill this slot. Then again the previous champions, The Solution could be looking for revenge. It would make sense for heels to take on the CSC, so you could even have the Carnage Crew get a title shot here.
4-Way Elimination Dance
NOTE: This will have a Royal Rumble type system.
First 2 wrestlers start the match, the next 2 wrestlers will enter at 7 minute intervals.
Roderick Strong vs Jay Lethal vs Austin Aries vs ???
The ??? could be anyone really. Maybe an Alex Shelley would spark things up in this spot. Then again a Grim Reefer, Super Dragon, Deranged, or Sonjay Dutt could take the spot. This match has potential to kick alot of ass. You definitely got 3 excellent wrestlers in this match. Mostly likely the fourth guy will be really good. I see Jay Lethal winning this match because he's the homegrown guy and is "the next big thing."
No DQ Six Man War
Low Ki, Homicide, & B-Boy vs El Generico, Teddy Hart, & Kevin Steen
This is one of the main events of the shows and who knows, any 6 of these guys could have titles going into this match, based on the Pin The Champ Challenge matches on this show. As far as this match, I see the Strong Style Thugs taking it here, because they are a unit, while this will be the first time Teddy Hart wrestles along side his fellow Canadians. The injury of Jack Evans sucks, but who knows if he will be there in a managerial role? This match will probably determine alot about JAPW's future in 2005.
Also scheduled on the show are:
H Effect's Dixie sends a special "FEMALE" message to all of his fans.
The Debut of Lacey!
And everyone's favorite "and more!".
Overall-
This should be a good show based on JAPW's 2004. Alot of new things should be taking place on this show and some new angles look like they will be created. I'm really looking forward to see what JAPW does with their Heavyweight Championship match, as the last few JAPW Title matches have been overbooked. I'm also looking forward to the huge 6-Man Tag Match, which should just be a huge fight that goes all over the fucking building.
If you been to JAPW before, I don't need to sell you on this show, because you know what to expect. If you've never been to JAPW before, I'd recommend coming on down and seeing what JAPW is all about. Everyone is talking about IWA MS and PWG as two great indies, but alot of people in the northeast overlook one of the best promotions on the indies today, and right in our northeast backyard- Jersey All Pro Wrestling.
