McPinions

What's up everyone? This is Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey here, with a Declaration of Independents exclusive. Like any other true wrestling fan, I watch the WWE product every week, and watch the PPV's. I have been doing this for some 17 odd years. Most people know that I follow the indies intensely and actually enjoy the indies over the WWE. I am still a diehard WWE fan, but after doing some research and getting some pictures, I was very disappointed, maybe you will be too.

The WWE is obviously the largest wrestling company in the world today, and has been for the past 20 years or so. The WWE has a proud history of female wrestlers and valets. From Fabulous Moolah, to Miss Elizabeth, to Trish Stratus, the WWE has always showcased females on their shows. Something that might not be obvious to the regular fan is that the WWE has a STRICT policy about not hiring women who have posed nude or have done pornographic movies. Why this is, I didn't know until now, and you will see why. On a side note, you'd figure that the WWE would want to hire some women like this, because wrestling and porno have the same demographic, and fans would accept someone faster and more attentively if they recognized the face.

As time has passed through the years, the WWE still adheres to the policy of not hiring any female performers who have appeared in porno or in nude photo shoots. The reason is pretty clear, because the WWE can't capitalize on it. This has been proven in the Sable, Chyna and Torrie Wilson Playboy photo shoots. When the WWE has women, who have never appeared nude before, they stand to make a pretty dime from it, in the rights to use the performers name and from mainstream publicity and press. The WWE made a sweet coin on the Sable first cover, Chyna first cover and Torrie Wilson Playboys, due to these fees and the publicity that came afterward. Another fact supporting this is that the WWE did not make any money off of the Sable or Chyna 2nd issues, thus you didn't hear about these issues on WWE programming. Just look at the books the WWE releases. The WWE makes money and still makes money anytime someone buys the Foley books, The Rock book, Kurt Angle book, Freddie Blassie book, etc. You did not hear about the Million Dollar Man's book or Dynamite Kids book, because the WWE would have nothing to gain from it. This is just a fact on how the WWE only looks out for itself and not for their performers.

Now you might be asking what are you trying to say? The WWE is looking for divas. They are looking for girls. They want new faces for their programming. Well why not some of the better women from the indies? Well after confirming this with a few sources, which prefer to stay unnamed, I have found out that the WWE will not hire Jasmin St. Claire or Chastity due to both women being in porno movies. I have also found out that they wouldn't hire April Hunter, due to her posing nude in various photo shoots. For those who don't know about these women, here is a quick history.

April Hunter is maybe the best female on the indy circuit today. She was the n W o girl for a while in the old WCW. She has the looks, can work and is constantly improving. She also has a great attitude and cares about the sport. These are perfect qualities for a wrestling company, and many companies agree, because she is booked all over the east coast and sometimes overseas. But, she posed nude, therefore the WWE won't hire her, despite her being a quality person for their company, and a fresh face.
Chastity was in ECW and the old WCW as well. Chastity was a decent female worker, but due to her past, the WWE won't even consider her.
A lot of people have been asking me how come Jasmin St. Claire isn't in the WWE, after the interview conducted for the Declaration of Independents newsletter and website. A lot of people remember Jasmin from her Jerry Springer appearances, pornography movies and ECW. Jasmin is not just another pretty face but she is someone who has the knowledge about wrestling. After all what other females run their own wrestling company? (3PW, based out of Philly, PA) Jasmin got a huge ovation from her recent NWA TNA appearance. Jasmin is a true professional and was even wrestling towards the end of ECW. Now if you were the WWE, wouldn't you want someone like this? Well, whoever is doing the hiring doesn't because they can't make money off her nudity.

Those are just a few examples of the ladies the WWE won't hire due to their past. WWE won't go near Gorgeous George, Missy Hyatt or Tammy Sytch, because they have posed nude before, and the WWE knows they can't make money exploiting their bodies in Playboy or on WWE programs.

Now this is where I'm going with this, as I mentioned before, the WWE is searching for a diva. In fact, on their website, there is an ad promoting a contest, about becoming a WWE Diva, without having any past experience in wrestling. Maybe this is why this company has been ½ assed of as late, hiring people from contests- Maven, Nowinski, Jackie Gayda, and whoever wins this Diva contest, instead of quality indy talent or past WCW/ECW stars. Going back, the ad features none other than PORN star Devon, who has appeared in such quality films as:

To tell you the truth I have no problem with Devon's past, as I have no problem with any of the girls the WWE won't hire. But if you're the boss and running a company, there is a thing called discrimination. I think hiring Devon was their way to get around it. After all some males will recognize the face, as Devon is popular and will probably ask their girlfriends to enter!

In closing, I think it's messed up that the WWE will pay a porn star who knows nothing about wrestling, to advertise to women who have never been involved in wrestling, especially with their inane hiring policy. You got great women who could make a difference in the WWE in Jasmin St. Claire, in April Hunter, in Gorgeous George, in Chastity and more women who have been slighted. There is a rumor that this ad, with Devon, will now appear in future WWE magazines and on television. I hope someone from the WWE sees this column and pulls the ad campaign, unless they will hire one of the women mentioned above. It's pretty hypocritical not to hire women based on their past, but yet use a porno star as a model for an aggressive ad campaign. Maybe if the WWE focused more on good storylines and better talent, instead of stripping all their females and backstage politics, they wouldn't be in the ratings, house show and overall business rut they are in. Or maybe it's just me.
