This will be SSCW's first show in Boonton, NJ, as problems with their other building in Clifton, made SSCW look for a new building. Also, SSCW is hoping that this building, The Elks Lodge in Boonton, is fire-proof.
SSCW is hyping this show up on one match, The Cruiser Combat match. The Heavyweight Title match was just announced two days before the show, showing the importance of the SSCW Heavyweight Title and the Cruiser Combat match. Well let's look at this show from top to bottom.
SSCW Cruiser Combat II
Four teams of two men each will square off in an elimination type of match. The winning team will then wrestle each other.
The winner of this becomes the SSCW Cruiser Combat winner. Last years winner and former SSCW Cruiserweight Champion, Dan
Barry, is not allowed to compete in this tournament, as SSCW wants to have a new winner every year.
The participants in this match are:
Insane Dragon (JAPW)
Jay Lethal (JAPW)
Jack Evans (ROH/JAPW)
Grim Reefer (JAPW)
Dixie (JAPW)
B-Boy (CZW/JAPW)
Ruckus (CZW/JAPW)
Azrieal (JAPW)
The talent in this is amazing. All these guys have done substantial work in JAPW, and either SSCW is smart for using guys
who built up their name in JAPW, or they don't have enough creativity or enough homegrown guys to have a decent tournament
with
their own talent. I wonder what JAPW thinks about all their guys being used a week before their big 7th Anniversary show?
This match looks more like SSCW is trying to present "Best of JAPW". Last years competitors were mostly homegrown SSCW guys
with a few other nomad indy wrestlers. It looks like by using all this great outside talent, SSCW is going all out to make this one of the better cruiser
tournaments today.
As far as who I see being the teams in all this, I'll predict:
Dixie/Insane Dragon- makes them a favorite to win, since they are a real tag team, as they have even captured the ROH
Tag Team titles.
Azraiel/Jay Lethal- These guys have been feuding all over the indies, so it would be natural to team up in a match like
this.
Ruckus/B-Boy- Team CZW here, and they would be a force to be reckoned with.
Reefer/Jack Evans- These guys team up because everyone else pairs up naturally.
As far as what team I think wins this, it's obvious that SSCW is banking on Jack Evans to wrestle two matches. I see
Jack Evans and Reefer winning this match. In the finals between Reefer and Evans, it would make sense for Reefer to win,
considering his indy run since returning from injury, and because he is the only wrestler to actually have wrestled in SSCW
for more than 3 shows. Therefore, I will pick Jack Evans to win this match.
Either way, this should be a good match.
For the SSCW Heavyweight Title
(c) Damian Adams vs Kevin Matthews
Simon Diamond as special referee
This match has been built up somewhat by SSCW. This match goes back to Kevin Matthews pissing on the SSCW TV title at a JCW
show. Unfortunately, SSCW hasn't run enough shows to even build this match up right. Then again most fans won't even know
why these guys are wrestling each other. I see Kevin Matthews winning this match as I think SSCW needs a good heel champion.
However, I do see Carmine changing the finish after me writing this on the DOI! Bah! This match can go either way.
Midgets Match
Short Sleeve Sampson vs Little Killa
Dana Dameson as special referee
Two special referee matches will take place on this show. How creative. I see Dana getting rolled around with the midgets,
illiciting a pop from the male audience. Maybe one of the midgets will strip her to make this match entertaining. These
midgets actually wrestle and don't rely on comedy in their matches, but I think they will need to do some comedy with
Dana in the match. Sampson is the more well known guy, so I'll take him to win.
Womens Title Match
(c) Alicia vs Alere Little Feather
The womens division has been quite honestly a joke since March. Alicia, who won the title in a ridiculous
6 women match, defends her
title for the first official time. SSCW seemingly is more into hyping the women as Dolls, then as serious wrestlers.
Therefore, I see Alere Little Feather winning the title, as the championship isn't treated seriously and a face womens
champion is more marketable.
Matt Striker/Rob Eckos vs Nick Berk/Josh Daniels
Striker/Eckos have been teaming up in various promotions and breaking up in various promotions. It's pretty funny how two
weeks ago, only 10 miles away, Striker/Berk beat the crap out of Rob Eckos in CSWF. Another reason why people don't take
the indies seriously. One day if I can get motivated enough, I will discuss how everyone is hurting each other by booking
against each other. Anyway, this match should be pretty good. Three of the guys in the match are solid wrestlers with a
great work, while one is very economical in the ring. I'll take Berk/Josh Daniels to win this match, as Josh Daniels is
probably one of the best all around wrestlers to ever grace a SSCW ring.
SSCW Tag Title Match
The Solution w/o John Shane vs ????
The DRS were scheduled to wrestle The Solution, but due to KC Blade's injury, it won't be happening. EC Negro/Deranged would
be a good substitute, but I don't see that happening. Another good idea would to have Slyck Wagner Brown/April Hunter
enter this match, considering they are a solid tag team, winning the JAPW and 3PW tag team championships. Plus, Slyck has an
open contract to challenge for any title he wants, so this would be a great time to bring them back. However, this is SSCW,
so I'll take a minor (Meaning not competing in JAPW/CZW/ROH) indy tag team, like a Projekt 13 to be the opponents here. Solution should win this match, but then again
this is Carmine land. I'll go out on a limb and say Solution win, even though I can see the mystery team getting the
straps.
SSCW is also hyping up a surprise with Noel. Noel is supposed to be debuting a wrestler to SSCW. It is obviously Paul E. Normous, as the graphic is Paul's graphic, but just blackened out. I don't think SSCW is that smart to put up fake pics, so look for Noel/Paul Normous to be involved with the main event. I see Paul E Normous interfering in the Heavyweight title match and helping Kevin Matthews win.
Also being hyped up in a blackened out graphic is the debut of DS. DS will obviously be Billy Reil, as the graphic used is Billy Reils. Also figure in that Billy Reil had to write an apology to Gino Moore, to be on this show, it makes sense that he will be used here. As far as what DS stands for, I can see it standing for Dick Something or something like that. I don't know how well an unhyped talk show will do in a new building.
Other wrestlers on the show include Dan Barry, Mike Tobin and SSCW Cruiserweight Champion Ken Scampi. I see these guys having a triple threat rematch, with Ken Scampi retaining his title.
SSCW is hyping 10 girls to be on the show. Look for alot of managers on this show, as only 2 girls are actually wrestling.
Vicious Vin and Frankie Hawke are rumored to be on the show in some ticket selling capacity. This will most likely be the popcorn match of the show.
Final McWord
This looks to be a solid show on paper. I don't know how the fans will react to it, considering there aren't that many true
SSCW fans, and because SSCW is running in a new building. The show has been rumored to been heavily hyped in the area, so
hopefully SSCW does good and draws a nice crowd. I do think Carmine Sabia, the owner of SSCW, did turn off some fans by
trying to make Rob Feinstein manage CM Punk. But, if SSCW is working on Boonton fans, then SSCW has nothing to worry about.
SSCW also has a bus trip from Edison, NJ. The bus is in Edison as there is a fan running the trip.
The Cruiser Combat match is easily the most anticipated match on the show.
Overall
SSCW has the potential to have their best show of all time. This roster is easily the best assembled at an SSCW show.
With only one or two potential bad ticket seller matches, there will are some very good matches on paper. It kind of sucks
that the best overall wrestler on the show, Simon Diamond, is not actually competing on this show. Only in SSCW.
The show will be held this Friday on 9/10.
It will be held at the Boonton Elks Lodge, which is at:
125 Cornelia Street in Boonton, NJ
The show starts at 8PM sharp
