We are only 36 hours away from the return of USA Pro Wrestling. It is true that myself and Mister Zevon are on the USA PW Board of Directors that never meet. Some matches were booked in advance before our arrival, but the show still looks solid. So unlike other shows, I will save my predictions, as I am aware of some match finishes in advance.

USA Pro is coming back after a 3 month hiatus. This is also USA Pro's first show in Queens since November. The last USA PW show left a sour taste in alot of people's mouths as it felt more like a bunch of stuff thrown against a wall. USA Pro is looking to change all that as they make their 2004 Queens debut.

Here are the matches with my thoughts:

For the USA PW Heavyweight Championship
Steel Cage
(c) Shane Douglas d. Raven
I don't think Shane should've ever won the title back in February. He's now a 3 month USA Pro Champion without defending the belt once. Raven's flock has seen disunity ever since Mikey/Wayne lost the tag belts. Shane should be strong in this one with the Triple Threat watching his back. A steel cage match is just the icing on the cake in this one, and expect both guys to turn it up.

For the USA PW US Title
(c) Mike Tobin vs Norman Smiley
I don't like how Norman Smiley returns after a years absence and is already challenging for the second most prestigious title in USA PW. Mike Tobin has been on fire as of late and is making a solid run as a singles wrestler. Smiley is entertaining, but entertaining doesn't always translate into victories...

For the USA PW Tag Titles
(c) Simon/Striker vs SAT
Simon and Striker won the belts at the last USA PW show. The SAT won a number 1 contenders match. With all the tag teams in USA PW, it is starting to get crowded at the top and it might be time for a new team to step up. Alot of people have complained about Striker's involvement ever since bailing for World 1. When one of the most loyal guys in USA PW takes another booking over USA PW, then that shows the lack of respect a promotion has. I think USA PW will slowly become more respected, and Simon/Striker can make it that way. SAT are heavy favorites to win this match and are looking to add another title reign in USA PW.

Extreme Title Match
This title has been vacated, ever since the former champion, Deranged said he couldn't make the show. I don't like the policy of stripping championships just because you can't make a show, but I don't own USA PW. I think this policy hurts championships being important because if you look at the USA PW roster almost everyone has held a belt at one time or another. I am not 100%, but look for a 8 Man Scramble Match with rumored participants, Slyk Wagner Brown, Grim Reefer, Wayne, Brian XL, Dan Barry, Dixie, Jigsaw and a mystery man in this match. If this match goes down, look for it to be one of the wildest matches in USA PW history.

Homicide vs Sabu
This match pits one of the best wrestlers on the indy scene today against one of the best high flyers of all time. This is the first time this match has ever happened. Homicide has shown a new found dedication for USA PW and will face his toughest challenge yet in USA PW, as he goes up against the former ECW and USA PW Heavyweight Champion. This is my prediction to be match of the night.

Balls Mahoney vs a huge hardcore surprise?
Who could the surprise be? All I will say is that he has held gold in either WWE/WCW/ECW. That narrows it down right? Tommy Dreamer? Sandman? Justin Credible? New Jack? Terry Funk? Jerry Lynn? Rhyno? Roadkill? It could be any one of them or it could be someone totally different. All I know is that Balls will have his hands full on 5/14.

For the USA PW Womens Title
April Hunter vs Tara Charisma vs Ariel vs Alere Little Feather vs (c) Simply Luscious vs Amanda Violet
This should be a good one. A good question is why is Poppalishus and Matt Da Angry Young Man so annoying and irritating on the message board? They seem that they have heat with the women of USA PW. Probably because they are gay. Hey, I've seen those pictures too. We'll find out if Luscious can hold her belt against 5 of the top women wrestlers in the US.

For the USA PW NY Title
There is a rumor that Tim Arson might not be there. If that is the case, he will be stripped. What kind of match will we see? Who will walk out with that title? Find out on 5/14.

There will be a few teams added to this I'm sure. Anyone can win this match. Whoever wins this match will be considered the number 1 contender for the tag team titles. There is alot of talent in this match. I think a regular tag team will win this match, while the makeshift teams go out early. Or maybe they don't...

Low Life Louie vs Axl Rotten
The original Reefer vs Louie match has been changed and placed aside, so Louie can challenge the notorious Axl Rotten and prove to him who the King of NY is. This match will be a fucking blood bath. No one goes into Louie's house without a beating and look for that trend to continue.

Low Ki vs Samoa Joe
Man there is so much going on in USA PW that I almost forgot this match. This match will be stiff as hell as it pits the Zero 1 Champion vs the ROH Champion. This has the potential of stealing thet show.

Chris Daniels vs CM Punk
The Prophecy vs The Second City Saints feud carries over to USA PW as both leaders of their respective groups do battle in this one. Daniels is still looking for revenge on Punk. Punk is one of the best overall wrestlers today, and with the 2004 Super 8 Winner, this match could also steal the show.

Danny Maff vs Jay Lethal
This should be a great match. Both these guys started in JAPW and look to bring their best in USA PW. This is Maff's return match in USA PW in some time ever since he aligned with Balls Mahoney back in April of 2003. This is Lethal's USA PW debut. I think there will be a burning hammer in Club Amazura.

The Masked Maniac vs Lizard Schlong III vs Travis Blackchurch vs whoever the Maniac wants

Hopefully, the Masked Maniac whips out a Sabrett and goes back to his hotdog roots.

This is all that is announced. There are more wrestlers and women on this show. The talent pool is so deep in USA Pro. There will be alot of surprises. I think this show will be a show that is looked back as the "resurgence" of USA PW. I do feel a loyalty to USA PW because they were the first promotion to help the DOI when the DOI first got off the ground. I think with NYWC doing so good, and ICW coming back, USA Pro has to work harder to keep their title as the number 1 promotion in NY. A humongous show can reaffirm that.

There is no other promotion that has the talent that USA PW has. No other promotion has the top big names with the top indy names, as well as the worst ticketsellers. No other promotion has a cult hero like the Masked Maniac. This will be the first wrestling show in Club Amazura in some time, and I don't think USA PW will hold anything back.

If you have been to USA PW before, and had it with so many ticket seller matches, that is understandable. Realize that now, that has changed. Quality is being enforced over quantity, which will translate into better shows. Yes the shows may be longer than most, but you always get your moneys worth. USA PW sometimes is the nightclub of indy wrestling, and that's a nightclub I want to be at. USA PW continues to entertain no matter what the show and that will continue on May 14th.
