McPinions
By: Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey

What up everyone and welcome to a special edition of McPinions. This time, I will be previewing and running down one of the biggest shows in the wrestling world, and that is ECWA's Super 8.

The 8th annual Super 8 takes place, this Saturday at the St. Matthews Parish Center located at
807 Newport Pike (Maryland Ave. & Boxwood Rd.)
Wilmington, Delaware
The Doors open at 6:00 pm and the show begins 7:00 p.m.
With that said, here's my wrestler by wrestler break down, with their strengths and weaknesses. At the end, I'll give my final prediction. Also, don't forget to check out the DOI Roundtable column on the main page.

Shawn Daivari- Not much is known about Shawn, so he has a big opportunity to impress alot of people. Shawn is replacing Tyson Dux at the last minute, due to Tyson Dux's injury that he recieved this past Monday. No Super 8 replacement has ever won the Super 8, and I honestly don't see it happening here.

Strengths- Has worked alot of wrestlers over the midwest. Has done jobs for the WWE and NWA TNA. Has wrestled Austin Aries a few times so a match between them could be really good.
Weaknesses- Crowd might not recept him as good as the other wrestlers. Probably the least known wrestler in this tournament, but he can turn that into a positive with a strong first round match.

Rocky Romero- He's one of Mexico's hottest stars. He won the prestigious Super Ligero Championship that was actually aired on American TV on Galavision. He's one of three Mexican wrestlers to compte in the Super 8.

Strengths- A fantastic wrestler that has worked many people with many different styles. He might be one of the fastest wrestlers in the tournament as well.
Weaknesses- How does he feel wrestling his tag team partner Ricky Reyes in this tournament? Hasn't been in the same ring with the majority of the people in the tournament.

Ricky Reyes- 1/2 of the Havana Pitbulls, with Rocky Romero, Ricky Reyes looks to make a big time American name with a win in this tournament. Prediction: After this tournament the Havana Pitbulls will be in ROH.

Strengths- Has worked all over the world in different countries and has lots of experience in the ring.
Weaknesses- More of a tag team wrestler than a singles wrestler.

John Walters- Probably one of the best pure wrestlers in America today. He's the heavy favorite to win this tournament by most internet fans and wrestlers alike.

Strengths- Has won big time matches before and has strong endurance. Has already wrestled 1/2 the people in the tournament which means he knows what the others are all about.
Weaknesses- There's alot of pressure on him to win it, since he's the favorite. Also is friendly with Kevin Matthews so hopefully that doesn't pollute his mind lol.

Mike Kruel- One of the best technical wrestlers today, Kruel has Mr. OVW written all over him. While most critics, including myself don't find his persona, or lack of persona entertaining, that won't matter here, as it's all about being a pure wrestler.

Strengths- Is the ECWA Heavyweight Champion so he's very well liked by the hometown crowd. His armbar is one of the best built up submission moves in pro wrestling.
Weaknesses- Also has alot of pressure on him because he is the ECWA Champion. Tends to use alot of the same offense over and over again, and it could be countered against him.

Christopher Daniels- The guy is a god of indy wrestling. He's probably the best wrestler on the indies today, as many consider Chris and AJ Styles the measuring stick of non WWE wrestlers today. The Fallen Angel is a former ECWA heavyweight champion as well.

Strengths- You've seen Daniels work, you know what he's all about! He's also won this tournament before and has won other tournaments, so he definitely has the endurance to do it again.
Weaknesses- Has already won the tournament before, so he doesn't need to win as bad as the others do.

Austin Aries- I've only seen him work a few times, the most recent time being at ROH. He's considered one of the better wrestlers in the midwest area and is looking to be recoginized by the north east fans by participating in this tournament.

Strengths-Can work various amount of styles, meaning he can work anyone pretty well. He knows the insides and outs of Shawn Daivari.
Weaknesses- Is considered more of a cruiserweight than a junior Heavyweight. With 2 bonafide heavyweights in this tournament, Daniels and Kruel, he might be outpowered.

Nicho aka Pyschosis- The last time he's been seen by most wrestling fans was in WCW. Nicho is a fantastic wrestler and should spice this tournament up with his international flavor.

Strengths- One of the best cruiserweight wrestlers today. Has won titles in AAA and CMLL, as well as WCW.
Weaknesses- Has never worked in an ECWA ring before and if he's grounded, he might be eliminated early on.

Well there are my quick bios. For complete bios go to www.ecwaprowrestling.com
As far as the tournament itself, I am literally fucking GIDDY, as to see how it goes down. There are a million and one ways of how this tournament can go down and what's going to happen. You just have to trust ECWA to lay out, and I am trusting them to put on a hell of a show. The brackets will be announced at the show, which adds more intrigue and more possibilities on how the show will go down. Here is how I see the tournament going down:

ROUND ONE
Chris Daniels over Ricky Reyes
John Walters over Shawn Daivari
Mike Kruel over Rocky Romero
Nicho over Austin Aries

ROUND TWO
John Walters over Chris Daniels
Mike Kruel over Nicho

ROUND THREE
John Walters over Mike Kruel to win the SUPER 8

Like I said in the DOI Roundtable, I see Walters going over the ECWA Champion, Mike Kruel in the finals because it would set up a long term feud later on, since Walters is already one of the top contenders for ECWA Heavyweight gold. John Walters seems to be the favorite in this tournament, even winning a match to get into it, so I'm taking Walters to win this tournament.

Also on the show will be a tag team summit match. The winners of the summit will get a shot at Rob Eckos/Billy Bax w/Carlton P. Hightower, who are collectively known as The Valedictorians for the ECWA Tag Team Title. I'll take the Shaolin Wrecking Crew to win the summit, then go on to win the tag team titles.

The Super 8 is this SATURDAY!

Take care everyone and don't forget to drink Red Stripe, and that includes anyone who had a baby, or wore a surgical face mask, this week!
