McPinions
By: Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey

What up DOImaniacs and welcome to another prediction style McPinions. This time I will be previewing the upcoming mega NYWC show, featuring a lot of good matches, and what is expected to be one of the highest attended ever NYWC shows in the companys short 1 year plus history.

First off, here is some info on the show, straight from the DOI Press Release page, located at NYWC Press Release
The NYWC is LIVE, Friday, April 2, 7:00 PM at Walt Whitman High School at 301 West Hills Road in Huntington Station, NY!

Tickets are only $10, and are available in advance by contacting the Walt Whitman office at (631) 425-5300, ext 174. And of course, tickets will be available at the door.

With that out of the way, let’s run down the card with the NYWC hype/preview first in capslock, then my comments in regular type.

· MAIN EVENT
Marty Jannetty vs. Al Snow
IN A SURPRISING TWIST, MARTY JANNETTY TURNED AGAINST MIKEY WHIPWRECK AND THE NYWC FANS ON MARCH 20, AND TEAMED WITH THE HATED TYLER PAYNE TO PUT A 2-ON-1 BEATING ON MIKEY IN THE MAIN EVENT! HOWEVER, JUST WHEN ALL SEEMED LOST FOR THE NYWC CHAMP, NONE OTHER THAN AL SNOW CAME TO HIS RESCUE, PUTTING THE BOOTS (AND THE HEAD) TO TYLER AND MARTY! NOW, AL AND MARTY HAVE BEEN SIGNED TO A 1-ON-1 MATCH THAT WILL SURELY BRING DOWN THE HOUSE ON APRIL 2!
This should be an interesting match. This is the battle of the New Rockers. Maybe HBK can make a run in and throw both these guys through barbershop windows to make his NYWC debut! Either that, or maybe HBK can come in and slap Dan Dynasty in the face for gimmick infringement lol. Being that this is the main event, and usually you want the crowd to go home happy, I see Al Snow winning this match. I hope these guys go all out as this has potential to be one of the best matches of the year, and one of the biggest markout matches of the year as well.

· APRIL FOOLS TAG
Mikey Whipwreck & Tyler Payne vs. Dan Barry & Dickie Rodz
TYLER PAYNE AND MIKEY WHIPWRECK ON THE SAME TEAM? DAN BARRY COMPETING ALONGSIDE DICKIE RODZ, THE MAN WHO COST HIM HIS LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE? IN THIS SPECIAL TAG TEAM MATCH, THE NYWC WILL OBSERVE THE TIME-HONORED TRADITION OF APRIL FOOL'S DAY BY PUTTING ALL FOUR OF THESE VOLATILE AND COMPLETELY MISMATCHED PERSONALITIES IN THE SAME RING. BITTER RIVALS MUST FUNCTION AS COHESIVE UNITS IF THEY EXPECT TO SURVIVE!
This should be an interesting match. I like matches like these, because there is so many different ways this match can end up. There are literally dozens of ways this match can end. With the big face going over in the main event, in my opinion, I’ll take Tyler Payne to pick up the win here and advance his feud with Mikey for the NYWC Heavyweight Title. I’m looking forward to this match.

· NYWC TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP (3-WAY)
Chris Chetti & Danny Doring vs. The Solution vs. Ru Starr & Wayne (c)
AFTER A STRONG SHOWING AT THE MARCH 20 EDITION OF RAMPAGE, CHRIS CHETTI AND DANNY DORING ARE GETTING ONE MORE SHOT AT THE TAG TEAM TITLES AGAINST THE DEFENDING CHAMPS, RU STARR AND WAYNE, BUT WITH ONE SMALL TWIST... THE SOLUTION WILL JOIN THE FRAY, MAKING THIS TITLE MATCH A 3-WAY DANCE! THE NYWC'S ODD COUPLE HAVE PROVEN THAT THEIR UNEXPECTED TITLE REIGN IS NO LAUGHING MATTER, AND THEY ARE HOPING TO MAKE A PROFOUND STATEMENT IN WHAT LOOKS TO BE THEIR BIGGEST CHALLENGE YET.
I’m taking Ru and Wayne to win this match as I don’t really see any title changes happening at this show. Good to see the Solution w/Papadon back. There was no mention of John Shane being here, so here’s to hoping he is. I’m still not impressed with Chris Chetti/Danny Doring, as I don’t think they’ve had a stand out match in the NYWC yet. Maybe now is the time.

· NYWC LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Mayhem vs. Grim Reefer (c)
JUST TWO WEEKS AFTER WINNING THE NYWC LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP, GRIM REEFER WILL BE FORCED TO DEFEND IT AGAINST THE MAN WITH THE MOST LOPSIDED WIN/LOSS RECORD IN THE ENTIRE NYWC, MANIAC MIKE MAYHEM! AND NOW THAT MAYHEM HAS ASSEMBLED A GROUP OF LOYAL FOLLOWERS, THE ODDS ARE STACKED AGAINST THE NEW CHAMPION. CAN REEFER FEND OFF MAYHEM AND HIS WELL-DRESSED MINIONS TO RETAIN THE BELT, OR WILL THE "MASTER OF THE CHOPS" ADD ANOTHER "W" TO HIS IMPRESSIVE RECORD?
Both guys know each other pretty well. With Mayhem now having his students watching his back, Reefer might be hitting a lot of planchas taking out 5 guys out at once. Reefer just won the belt, so I don’t see it coming off him now. This match might steal the show.

· Mr. Bodenburg (A.K.A. Nick Noshus) vs. Southern Vinny Stylin'
NOT MANY KNOW THAT WHILE NICK NOSHUS LIGHTS UP THE RING IN THE NYWC, HE ALSO HELPS ENLIGHTEN STUDENTS AT WALT WHITMAN HIGH SCHOOL AS HIS RELATIVELY SUBDUED ALTER-EGO, MR. BODENBURG! IN THIS EAGERLY ANTICIPATED MATCHUP, BODENBURG WILL TAKE ON THE ALWAYS-ROWDY SOUTHERN VINNY STYLIN' IN FRONT OF HIS OWN STUDENTS, PUTTING HIS REPUTATION AND PHYSICAL WELL-BEING ON THE LINE! INDEED, MR. BODENBURG HOPES TO TEACH THE DIRTY SOUTH PLAYA A LESSON HE'LL NEVER FORGET!
Noshus looks like he will be a face tonight. I don’t see JD Lishus accompanying him here. SVS is one of NYWC’s stronger heels, so it looks like NYWC is hoping that charisma rubs off on the artist formerly as Iceberg. Noshus wins this match and his students change their grades in Mr. Noshus’s gradebook when he’s in the ring.

· Los Luchas Hermanos vs. Rob Eckos & Matt Striker
MATT STRIKER, ONE OF THE PREMIERE ATHLETES ON THE INDEPENDENT WRESTLING SCENE, MAKES HIS NYWC DEBUT AS HE TEAMS WITH THE CHARASMATIC ROB ECKOS TO FACE LOS LUCHAS HERMANOS! WHILE STRIKER AND ECKOS ARE HOPING TO MAKE A MAJOR IMPACT IN THE NYWC, KEN SCAMPI AND SPYDER ARE LOOKING TO PUT THESE NEWCOMERS FIRMLY IN THEIR PLACE!
A former 3PW tag team reunites here, as Eckos/Striker look to pick up a win in their first NYWC match together. I’ll take Scampi/Spyder to win this match since they are the hometeam and it would make NYWC look better that they can beat anyone.

PLUS MUCH MORE...
Hopefully Jimmy James will be there to ring the bell. He’s the only man to ever ring bells at USA Pro and at NYWC. He’s a bell ringing legend.
Speaking of Jimmy James, it wouldn’t be bad to see Mike Tobin on the show too.

NOTE: CARD IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE
AKA: John Curse might be a sneaky fuck at the last minute with this show lol

Overall, this looks like to be one of NYWC’s better shows. The line up looks really strong and should attract new fans to the NYWC product. NYWC has a very good presale, and rapidly, NYWC is becoming a must see promotion. I’m looking forward to this show and how NYWC presents a show outside of the Deer Park Community Center.

Look for an extensive ECWA Super 8 Preview to hit the site soon.
