First the ever popular INDY WEEKLY McRANKINGS!

Please remember the rankings are my own opinion, and no one else’s. I judge on Work rate, ring psychology, crowd re-action and match quality. Win-loss is not a factor, unless 2 guys are tied, and I give the nudge to the guy with the better win-loss record. Rankings are based on what I’ve SEEN only. This week I attended USA PRO 3/8 and JCW 3/9. Let me tell you that this week was the hardest to make the rankings as I saw about 75 wrestlers. I know I left some great talent of this list, but alas there are only 10 spots. With that said, here they are:

TOP 10

10. Monsta Mack- A name most people probably didn’t think they were going to see in these rankings. Mack had a great match with Mafia. It could’ve been due to his opponent and having good chemistry with each other, but Monsta Mack hit a VAN MACKINATOR which was simply superb. He wrestled toe-to-toe with Mafia, and it will be interesting to see what happens to his career, as Mafia is pegged to be the bigger star of the two.

9. Ace Darling- Ace Darling wrestled a great tag match. Read my JCW review, to see his incident and his true professionalism. Also check the next DOI issue, to see an article about Fan Interaction. Back to Darling, another solid outing by him, and I haven’t seen him in a bad match.

8. Xavier- Xavier put on a good show with C.W. Anderson this week. Xavier is one of those guys who can make anyone look good. I was pissed that he got screwed at WWE Raw House show, because he was supposed to have a match, but got pulled due to time constraints. Xavier is an Indy Ric Flair, and puts on a great show with anyone.

7. Mike Kruel- The Smackdown Superstar! Seriously, Kruel has been having solid matches as well, from ECWA to WWE dark matches to USA pro. His angle with Billy Reil has been much talked about. He is a good wrestler, and the future looks bright for this guy.

6. Mafia- the JAPW champ fought his brother Monsta Mack in a street fight type of match. Mafia will be atop of these rankings soon, and I think he’s gonna be the breakout star of 2003.

5. SAT- Joel and Jose Maximo lost their tag belts to the DRS in style, in a ladder match. For people who bash the Maximos for under-selling, there was none of that. SAT always have good matches, and it was great to see them again.

4. DRS- KC Blade and EC Negro became 4 state champions, by winning the USA PRO Tag straps, and defending the JCW and PWA tag titles. Their match against Los Boriquas over in JCW was a classic heel vs classic face match. The USA Pro match was 10x better and followed a tough Red/Deranged match.

3. Amazing Red- Put on a great match with Deranged. Both wrestlers have the same style, so it’s no surprise they are both ranked high this week. It’s good seeing Red back in NY, and he’s one of the most over faces right now, from here, to NWA in Tennessee.

2. Homicide- Homicide wrestled in a 3 fall match with Balls Mahoney over in USA Pro. It had wrestling, brutality and the crowd was into it big time. The first 2 matches were solid, and the third was overbooked with interference. It was still a great match, even though it didn’t start till 12:15, and it regenerated crowd interest, and followed a tough Ladder Match.

1. Deranged- Deranged finally gets to the top of the McRankings. He had a great 20 minute bout with The Amazing Red at the last USA show. It was back and forth and then back and forth again. Would’ve liked to see a clean finish, but that’s the booking, not the wrestling, and Deranged takes the top spot for the first time.

News and Notes:

From JAPW.net The March 29, 2003 Jersey All Pro Wrestling event at The Charity Hall in Bayonne, NJ has been canceled due to Mayor Doria shutting down the Charity Hall.

Mayor Joseph V. Doria Jr. said the shutdown has been ordered in the wake of an investigation into entertainment venues that was prompted by the recent tragic fatal nightclub fires in Chicago and Rhode Island.

The privately owned business, on Broadway near 37th Street, was most recently rented out for a teen dance and for a Halloween haunted house. Police received complaints about teen partygoers making noise and fighting outdoors after a late January event.

City acting Zoning Officer John Zgola said the building was last used as a "dance hall" but that the owner "has no certificate of occupancy for a dance hall."

Jersey All Pro Wrestling feels this has nothing to do with the certificate of occupancy and on Friday March 14, 2003 look for a response from Jersey All Pro Wrestling and Charity Hall representatives in the Jersey Journal Newspaper.

At this time the Charity Hall is closed! March 29th has been canceled and the April 19th JAPWW event will be moved to a new location. For more info on JAPW visit our website at www.japw.net

This is really bad news. I hope JAP gets another venue to run in, or that stupid ass mayor rethinks. There are no pyros at JAP shows, so I don't understand what the problem is.

The mayor has had problems w/JAP in the past, and this is a political, personal move and frankly it sucks. Good luck to JAP.

From SSCW- Justin Credible was double booked, and will not be able to make the show. Devon Storm also won’t be making the show. THE SANDMAN will be taking Credibles spot and TONY DEVITO of Baldies will be taking Storms place. For the press release visit SSCW website.

Personally, I think this sucks, as I was looking forward to Credible/Storm, and I have been over-exposed to the Sandman. Even though hearing this news, major rumblings in SSCW are that a MAJOR ICON will be making a stop through SSCW. Who is it, check http://www.sscwwrestling.com for updates, or http://www.declarationofindependents.net

From NWS (UWS member) National Wrestling Superstars, after hearing that the City of Bayonne canceled the March 29th Jersey All Pro Wrestling event, will provide fans on the JAPW mailing list with a special $2.00 discount on the March 29th NWS event in Wall, New Jersey. JAPW fans should bring their mailing list flyer to the door to receive their ticket discount.

NWS promises a night of action and excitement to the NJ wrestling fans. Already signed to appear are former WCW and current NWA stars Disco Inferno, The Wall (aka Malice), and WCW stars Power Company Twins, ECW star Danny Doring, Federation legend The Patriot, and more in addition to the exciting stars of the NWS including TNT, Hasheem Ali, Tommy Force, Tony Flow, Dave Webb and Mike "Kid" Kruel (fresh off his dark matches and Thursday night television appearances).

The promoters of National Wrestling Superstars and Jersey All Pro Wrestling decided to offer the fans this discount and remind the fans of JAPW that their next event will be held on April 12th in Woodbridge.

For more information call 732-888-1704

I think this is a great move by NWS, and will help them get fans. I don’t think it’s really capitalizing on a situation, but trying to help out wrestling fans who wanted to go to JAP. Good move and nice work by NWS.

FROM IHPW: Check out http://www.ihpw.com for upcoming talent to be signed. Dusty Rhodes is already signed, and a top-level Indy star is rumored to be joining IHPW.

Personally, I’m not a Dusty fan, but I will be there to see the top-level Indy star. They are also promoting a big catfight, including Becky Bayless among others. Looks like a top-notch show!

Few WWE Notes:
- HHH sucks and will put over NO ONE. Good job to splooge and kill the following careers: RVD, Kane, Chris Jericho, Scott Steiner, Taz, Maven and others.
- Speaking of which, why did WWE sign Scott Steiner in the first place? To make him HHH bitch two ppvs in a row?
- ROCK is the man. His match vs Hurricane was good. Look at how Rock treats a guy underneath him in a match vs Hurricane, and how HHH treats one – Maven
- Kurt Angle is God
- Angle is fighting at Wrestlemania after all. We all know what the outcome will be now, but kudos to Angle, and I wish him the best of luck with his surgery. He will be majorly missed, as he’s the only main eventer who carried the WWE the past calendar year, and put over new talent, while not degrading himself
- STONE COLD STONE COLD STONE COLD- JR get some fucking decaf - Austins return I think was expected. The ratings have slipped after the one week boost. Austin needs a major program, I think, to help the WWE reach new heights
- UT/Jones vs Albert/Big Show at Wrestlemania? What the fuck are they smoking, and if you know please send some to themic@sscwwrestling.com

That wraps it up for this week. Check out http://www.wrestlingclothesline.com for JCW SKIN TO WIN Pictures. He’s got about 15 pics of the hottest JCW girls in bikinis. You can also keep checking the DOI site, as I am frequently doing interviews with top Indy talent. Make sure to check out Pete Ferrerios interview, as he touches everything. Also look for Amanda Violets interview, as she talks about nudity as well as wrestling!

Thanks for reading, sorry for all the plugs, but I got to get the name out!!!
