Approximate attendance looked to be over 300. Wizard and I got to the show at about 8:30 thanks to the wonderful traffic in Manhattan. The 1st two match results were given to us by courtesy of fellow DOI message board writer Steelo, who coincidently was seated right next to us at the show.

Azrael defeated Insane Dragon in the 1st match to retain the JAP lightheavyweight title. It was said to be a pretty good match. Azrael won this one with a Michinoku driver.

The Shaolin Wrecking Crew defeated the H Effect (Dixie & Deranged). Like I mentioned before, we were in the parking lot about the time of this one :) From what I heard, they won after a powerbomb.

Corvis Fear & Rush Margera defeated the Nelson Brothers. Corvis nailed one of the Nelson’s with a frog splash, jumping over his partner. After the match, they were attacked by The Solution (going by the name of the New Express) w/ Fat Frank, who cursed up a storm yelling about how he was unleashing the tag arsenal on lightweights. He referred to them as “spot monkeys”.

Eddie Thomas defeated Skinhead Ivan to win the TV Title. Ivan grabbed the mic before the match and went off on the people in Rahway, saying he was a rare breed to be a white guy standing there wearing gold, yet he hadn’t been stuck up yet. Ivan took it to Eddie for pretty much the whole match. When the ref was distracted, Jay Lethal ran in and smacked Ivan in the head with a steel chair, allowing Eddie to get the pin and win the belt.

Ariel came down to the ring to talk about the Skyscrapers and their recent problems with her. They were about to beat her up when the Next Generation (dressed as Stormtroopers) came out to defend her. At first, they broke out their “light sabers” and tried to use them, as the light saber noise played on the speakers. This was hilarious and got a good laugh from the people there. This started the match where the Skyscrapers, Johnny D and Church defeated the Next Generation with Ariel in their corner. The word “beatdown” does not give this massacre any justice. They destroyed the stormtroopers and then turned their attention to Ariel. She was nailed with a full nelson chokeslam.

Intermission time.

Santa Claus came out to the ring and was attacked by The Skyscrapers, Johnny D and Church. They hit him with a chokeslam as well. Merry Christmas.

Jay Lethal defeated Derek Wylde in what Joel and I thought was the “sleeper” match of the night. One move that got a great reaction from the crowd was a kick to the crotch that really made the point to everyone there. Ouch! Awesome move of the night was when Jay Lethal ran up and climbed the ropes onto to where Derek was sitting on the top rope. He then proceeded to nail a tremendous top rope dragon suplex. The end came after another dragon suplex with a bridge.

Slyk Wagner Brown & April Hunter defeated Christopher St. Connection w/ Jailbait to retain the tag belts. Before the match, the CSC refused to get in the ring unless it was Slyk fighting, rather than April. Funny stuff. Jailbait got on the mic and talked about how people were asking her why she was with the CSC. Her response was that it is because they like guys and she likes women. She added that she has her sights set on April Hunter. Typical hilarious match with all of the gay antics. As Joel put it, the CSC have “instant electricity”. Buff E hit Slyk with an intriguing “crotch chokeslam”. When April was down on the math, Jailbait got in the ring and crawled on top of her. Slyk saw this and laid down demanding the same. This led to a spat between the tag champs. CSC then started kissing, allowing the champs to hit them with clotheslines. The end came after Slyk held up Buff E in a fireman’s carry and April nailed him with a headhunter. After the match, La Familia ran down and attacked Slyk and April. They handcuffed Slyk to the ring ropes and proceeded to beat down both of them. Maff laid out April and draped a Puerto Rican flag on her (which he apparently got from a fat dude in the stands wearing a Hitmen jersey. Now this was great as he kept holding up the flag blocking everyone’s view).

Dan Maff w/ La Familia defeated Jerry Lawler and Shane Douglas to win the JAP title in the 1st match of the double main event. Some good mic work before the match. Douglas talked about how he doesn’t hold back and “when he shoots, he backs it up”. He told off Vince McMahon and Paul Heyman. King got on the mic and went off on both guys. He made one funny line about how the only good thing to come out of Puerto Rico was an “empty boat”. He then ripped on Shane making reference to Dean Douglas. Shane and Maff tried to double team Lawler throughout but always had a problem with who would try to pin him. Lawler hit both with piledrivers and stunners. End came after Maff hit Lawler with brass knucks to win the JAP title.

AJ Styles defeated Christopher Daniels in an excellent main event. During the match, some lady who looked more like Orca the whale proceeded to walk in front blocking the view again. I guess I should have picked a better place to sit. The match really started to pick up after an awesome kick by Styles. Daniels hit him with a triple jump moonsault, followed by the Angel Wings for a 2 count. In the end, Styles, after several attempts that were countered, won after the Styles clash.

Note: Show went about 3 to 3 ½ hours. Their next show is with Ring of Honor on January 9th at the Woodbridge Armory.
