Starbucks Review
Review of Starbucks Coffee Company
Most people do not know this, but I am a coffee drinker and a beatnik. Usually when I have an urge to write, which has been lately, or get wrapped up in a good book, I go to one place on 2nd Avenue and 8th Street in East Village and that is Starbucks! This is my personal favorite one, but there are literally tons of Starbucks all over the city.
Starbucks originated in Seattle, Washington as most people know, and are a chain coffeeshop. I actually saw a Starbucks in front of a Starbucks once. Now, to quote Denis Leary, this is not a place to get “coffee flavored coffee”, that is reserved for a street vendor or my Mr. Coffee at home. But when you want something decadent or a really big pick-me-up, go to Starbucks.
They have all sorts of different flavors; ranging from mild to bold. If you never drank coffee at all in your life or used to Maxwell House or Folgers, I would recommend the Brazil Ipanema Bourbon. This coffee does not have bourbon in it, (sorry The Mic) but it is very mellow and soft tasting. You might even taste a hint of cocoa in it so your sweet tooth will be satisfied; that is if you like cocoa. Now if you’re an experienced coffee drinker like myself, I would recommend the Italian Roast. It is a very sturdy coffee and has a roasty-sweet aroma to it. I can just sniff it and automatically I am awake.
If you are not a coffee drinker, allergic to coffee, or coffee makes you sick, there is a wide range of teas to select from as well. I personally like the Tazo Chai Tea. It has an exotic flavor and is very sweet. Also, Starbucks has a wide range of pastries and some even serve lunch anytime of the day or night.
The question I always get is “Starbucks is a corporate chain…why do you go?” My answer is this, I never had a bad experience there, the service is always friendly and accommodating, and they know how to brew their coffee. I guess Seattle is know for its coffee as NYC is known for its pizza and steak. The other thing that I love about Starbucks is they do not rush you out like other coffeeshops I have been too. I could sit there for hours just soaking in the atmosphere or my book and no one bothers me to get a refill or to buy something else.
So whenever you can, try a Starbucks near you and you will not be disappointed. At least I hope not, but to quote another favorite comic of mine Dennis Miller “hey it’s my opinion, but I could be wrong.”
