NWA Upstate Update (11/10)

*Obviously the biggest news going into X-Mas Chaos on December 10th is the return to Upstate of former WWE/WCW star Kanyon! Kanyon not only wrestled as Mortis, he also made the save for Brodie Lee against Abyss, Glenn Spectre, and Hellcat. Kanyon is not signed for any specific match yet, and has not made his intentions known to Upstate management. Is the former US champion coming back to get some of Abyss? If so he'll be in the wrong area, as Upstate officials have confirmed Abyss will not be in Rochester on 12/10, as he will be in Orlando for the TNA PPV. Is he coming once again to watch the back of Brodie Lee? Or maybe Kanyon has other ideas in mind? One thing for sure is that the only way to see what Kanyon has in mind, is to be there live on 12/10 at the All Star Sports Arena. And maybe we will find out the answer to the age old question, "Who Betta Than Kanyon?"

*Brodie Lee has informed NWA Upstate officials that he is coming to X-Mas Chaos for one reason only, to get his hands on Glenn Spectre after costing him his cage match vs. Abyss. Lee has stated he is calling Spectre out, and demanding a title shot THAT NIGHT! Nothing has been signed, but we hope to have Spectre's reaction soon.

*Another major development coming out of the other cage match from Monster's Brawl was the anticipated Burning River Brigade vs. Up in Smoke Tag Title match, that did not happen that night as scheduled, following both teams pinning Dunn and Marcos. However, both teams have had prior commitments on 12/10, so the scheduled tag title match will now be pushed back until February 11th, 2006.

*Don't forget to pick up your copy of the NWA Upstate 8 2005 Tag Team Tournament on DVD! This double disc feature was shot with two cameras, commentary, has pre and post show interviews as well as bonus footage including Chip Stetson & Gabe Saint dancing at Six Pockets following the event! This DVD is available at NWA Upstate events, and will also soon be available through Ring of Honor. Production has begun on the 10/29 Monsters Brawl event and we will keep you updated on the progress.

*We have a major match signed for 12/10 at the All Star Sports Arena, it will be the returning "Fabulous" John McChesney taking on the hot up and comer, Mastiff! This will be the first ever one on one meeting between these two, and the stakes couldn't be higher! It was also announced that the winner of this match will face Dicky Sanchez(if he is still champion) on 2/11 for the No Limits Title!!! All eyes will be on these two young superstars on the rise, and you can bet that Dicky will be watching closely as well.

*Another #1 contenders match has been signed for X-Mas Chaos 2005, and it will feature a match up that has not happened in Upstate in 13 months. It will pit the team of Jimmy and Colin, the Olsen's, against the reunited Ring Crew Express of Dunn & Marcos with Nikki Jet. Upstate officials signed this match following the announcement of the tag title match being off for 12/10. The winners of this match will be the official #1 contenders, but M-Dogg & Josh have stated that Cloudy & Cheech earned a fair shot at the belts, and will be the first in line.

*We have one more match to announce, and it is once again a #1 contenders match, this time for a shot at the Six Man Champions, Johnny Puma, Randy Walker, and Cade Cassidy from ESW. It will see the heart and soul representing NWA Upstate as Big Cat, Spazz, and Triple X team up to take on the faction of the Osawa Syndicate, who has issues with former member Johnny Kayfabe and ESW. This could possibly be the biggest six man tag ever, and will be sure to bring the roof down at the All Star Sports Arena.

*We will have more next week with another Drill report, with news on who will be getting a shot at JP Black's newly won Dojo Title, D to the Icky Dicky Sanchez's recently won No Limits title, plus the latest on Glenn Spectre/Brodie Lee, and all the Upstate news you come to love!

*Don't forget to check out the Message Board at www.kayfabedojo.com and talk amongst other NWA Upstate fans about your favorite wrestlers, most hated, dream matches, anything! Also Upstate officials wanted to inform everyone that we WILL be holding 2005 Year End Awards that will be voted on by the FANS(both at the 12/10 event and here online). We do however encourage message board members to hold any polls they wish.

NWA Upstate Update (11/3) So the first part of this update has to deal with upcoming shows. As you can see we have announced a handful of dates leading into 2006! So mark your calendar for NWA Upstate action on December 10th, 2005, February 11th, 2006, and April 8th, 2006.

Now you have to know that Brodie Lee will want revenge on Hellcat and Glenn Spectre for interfering in the cage match on Saturday between himself and Abyss. We will have comments from the man himself, Brodie Lee as soon as they become available on who he wants to take his anger out on!

And as for the best part of this update, the photo section is FINALLY finished, hundreds of photos have been collected over the last few NWA Upstate shows and are now available at www.kayfabedojo.com for your viewing pleasure. We want to thank Paul McClemens, Nikki Jarrett, and Christine Coons for the pictures. THANK YOU, and if you have pictures to submit, just tell us what event they are from and we'll post them in the appropriate section.

In a bonus cage match Upstate Tag Team Champions The Burning River Brigade & Up In Smoke double pinned Dunn & Marcos (w/Nikki Jet) to both get the victory. Because of the double pin, The Burning River Brigade retained the Tag Team Titles.

Some quick NWA Upstate news and notes: - The NWA Upstate heavweight title match between champion "Wonderman" Glenn Spectre and Jimmy Olsen at Monster's Brawl Saturday, October 29th will NOT be a ladder match. Both the Banana Brigade and the Bruise Crew have been lobbying with Upstate officials as to what the stipulations should be for this title defense. Upstate officials have heard from both sides and will make their decision sometime next week.

- On Friday, October 28th, TNA's Abyss will be appearing at Heavy Metal Records, 75 West Main Street, in Webster, New York from 4 to 5 PM. For more info, call (585) 872-4129.

- Finally, also on Friday October 28th, I will be on 90.5 FM WBER's Friday Morning Show in Rochester, New York from 8:45 to 9 AM to talk about all the latest happenings on Upstate including news on the upcoming card for Monster's Brawl. The Drill Report for October 5th
NWA Upstate Drill Report - October 5th, 2005

NWA Upstate would like to thank the 400+ fans in attendence for this years Upstate 8 Tag Team Tournament. The winners of the tourney, M-Dogg 20 & Josh Prohibition, also were awarded the Upstate tag team titles for their victory. The DVD will hopefully be released in the next month(and will be distributed through NWA Upstate & Ring of Honor).

*The next event for NWA Upstate will be Monster's Brawl on Saturday, October 29th, from our home at the All Star Sports Arena in Rochester, New York. This event will feature the first ever STEEL CAGE MATCH in NWA Upstate history!!! The monster from TNA Abyss issued the open challenge, and it has been accepted! The challange has been answered by none other than BRODIE LEE! That's right, Brodie Lee has pulled himself out of his scheduled title match against enemy "Wonderman" Glenn Spectre, and has set his sights on defeating the monster inside the steel cage.

*10/29 will not be getting any easier for NWA Upstate champion Glenn Spectre, as he will now be faced with the challange of another Bruise Crew member, this time in the shape of JIMMY OLSEN! Jimmy has asked to take the place of Lee so he could get some revenge for the actions of Spectre over the past 5 months. Don’t forget… this match will be a LADDER MATCH! Longtime Upstate fans have seen what Jimmy Olsen can do in a ladder match(2003 Upstate match of the year- Dreamboats vs. Big N Tasty), and those that haven't will get to see for themselves at Monster’s Brawl.

*The new NWA Upstate tag team champions The Burning River Brigade have been signed for their first title defense on 10/29 at Monster’s Brawl. It will be M-Dogg 20 & Josh Prohibition defending the titles against Up in Smoke, Cheech & Cloudy! This will be the first ever match up between the two teams, and will be sure to bring the house down! Can M-Dogg & Josh retain the titles on the first defense, or will Cheech & Cloudy make them the one win wonders?

*A grudge match has been signed for Monster’s Brawl, which will feature Eric Everlast vs. Big Cat, in a TABLES MATCH! These two have been going at it for nearly a year now, and Everlast is looking to show Upstate officials that he deserves a title shot. Everlast defeated Big Cat in their last match up in the Body Slam Challenge, so Big Cat is looking to avenge his loss.

*A Six Way Free For All has been signed for 10/29. The first two competitors have been signed, and they are D to the Icky & Mastif! This match is already shaping up to be the biggest Free For All yet, and we still have 4 more wrestlers to announce!

*We will have another drill update next week with JP Black’s decision on what title he will pursue after his Rochester Rumble victory, whats going on with the ESW outsiders, the other four wrestlers in the Free For All match, Jimmy Olsen & Spectre’s comments on their scheduled ladder match, whats next for the Six Man champions and more!

HUGE News on Upstate 8 2005 Tourney Posted 07/25/05
NWA Upstate is pleased to announce that all 8 teams have been signed to appear at this years 2005 NWA Upstate 8 Tag Team Tournament, which will be held at the All Star Sports Arena in Irondequoit on Saturday, September 10th.

Before announcing the entire line up, we must announce that the Backseat Boyz(Trent Acid & Johnny Kashmere) have been forced to withdraw from the tourney, due to commitments to Jersey All Pro Wrestling(newly crowned tag team champions).

Here is the complete list of the 8 teams that will be competing in this years tourney....

"Generation Next" of Austin Aries & Roderick Strong -Possibly one of the strongest factions in Ring of Honor, Aries the former ROH World Champion, and Strong being one of the fastest rising stars in the promotion, promise to bring a style never before seen in NWA Upstate.

"The Burning River Brigade" of M-Dogg 20 & Josh Prohibition -The BRB will be returning to the Upstate 8 this year, hoping to redeem themselves from their first round loss last year to the Ring Crew Express. M-Dogg & Josh returned to Upstate last December against the Out Cast Killaz, and turned in one hell of a performance that earned the respect, and admiration of the fans and Upstate wrestlers and officials.

"The Olsen's" of Colin & Jimmy Olsen -These two took the most brutal beating from last years champions(Jay Lethal & Azrieal), and have taken that beating and turned it into a Cinderella story. After the tourney they won the tag titles and held them for 7 months, before losing the belts to the OCK. These young wrestlers are looking to prove themselves as one of the best teams on the east coast, and they will have the showcase to do so on 9/10.

Jimmy Jacobs & Alex Shelley -These two have been the best of friends, and worst of enemies, but they will be coming to NWA Upstate for one reason, to bring home the Upstate 8 Trophies. Both men are current stars in Ring of Honor, Shelley the former leader of Generation Next(and current TNA star as well), and Jimmy Jacobs a former ROH Tag Team champion.

"Up in Smoke" of Cheech & Cloudy -The team of Cheech & Cloudy are coming to prove one point to NWA Upstate fans and the Upstate officials, that they are one of the most innovative teams in tag team wrestling today, and that they are not to be taken lightly. Also known as Lacey’s Angels in ROH, these two have been making waves for many promotions on the east coast including Chikara & AWA out of New Jersey.

“The Vice Squad” of Charisma & Kid Justice - This team was actually originally scheduled to compete in last years Upstate 8, but both had to pull out with serious injuries. Charisma returned to NWA Upstate back in February, first costing Marcos the TV title, and then joining the Osawa Syndicate later in the night. Kid Justice returned in May as the third member for the Osawa Syndicate as they defeated Chip Stetson, Mean Marcos & JP Black. The Vice Squad pulled off the victory in the six man tag match, and then went on to defeat Spazz & Psykita(2/3 of the six man champions) at "A Final Farewell" on July 2nd to earn a spot in the Upstate 8. Since Justice’s return the Squad is undefeated, and are looking to carry their momentum all the way into the Upstate 8 finals.

"Completely" Cody Steele & Shawn Spears -These two have not made many appearances in Upstate, but will no doubt be a force in this tag team tourney. Steele was close to defeating then Upstate champion Danny Doring back in February, with some help from the “injured” Shawn Spears. This time both men are completely healthy, and looking to make an impact here in the states.

Colt Cabana & ????? -Colt Cabana is currently without a partner for the Upstate 8 tourney. Originally signed for the event were the Second City Saints of Cabana and CM Punk, but Punk has recently signed with World Wrestling Entertainment so he will be unable to attend the event. Cabana is currently over in England, and has not been reached for a comment on the situation. NWA Upstate officials have decided that Cabana may pull ANYONE out of the NWA Upstate locker room to team with him, or he can BRING anyone he wants to tag with! This will no doubt be an interesting situation, but you’ll have to be there on 9/10 to see what happens!

September 10th is shaping up to be Upstate’s biggest show to date, with more matches to be announced shortly. We will be adding Spotlight pieces on each team for the tourney in the weeks to come, and also getting comments from the competitors themselves! Don’t miss out on the action at the All Star Sports Arena on 9/10!
Todd Brantley

THE DRILL - June 12th, 2005 Edition Posted 06/12/05
Just under a month to go and the news and announcements continue to come in. As exciting as a day at Darien Lake, just without the water in the ear, its the latest edition of the DRILL!!!

-As announced late last week Jay Lethal will be returning to Upstate to face off against D to the Icky and NWA TNA X-Division Champion "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels in a Three Way Elimination Match! Lethal is so far undefeated in Upstate, first going all the way in the first ever Upstate 8 Tag Team Tournament, then returning to Upstate to defend his then ROH Pure Championship. This match is easily Dicky's biggest test yet, and will prove how far the young gun has come.

-Speaking of the Upstate 8, we have some more information on it. The 2nd Annual NWA Upstate 8 Tag Team Tournament will take place on Saturday, September 10th. We do have one unfortunate announcement to make. The first ever Upstate 8 champions will not be able to appear for the event, as they have prior commitments with Jersey All Pro Wrestling (Lethal is the current Heavyweight champion, and Azrieal is the current Lightweight champion). We plan to announce some of the participants as early as July 2nd at the Ukrainian Club! The first team confirmed for the tournament after winning their qualifying match on 5/14 is Up in Smoke, Cheech & Cloudy. The former Special K members are looking to shoot up the ladder in NWA Upstate in just one night, after having solid performances the past few shows.

-Another qualifying match has been signed for the Upstate 8 tourney, this match happening at the Ukie Club on 7/2. 2/3 of the six man champions, Spazz & Psykita will have a chance at tag team stardom when they take on the Osawa Syndicate's duo of Charisma & Kid Justice! This match has a lot more that the Upstate 8 tourney on the line, as Spazz & Psykita were both kicked out of the Syndicate over a year ago and have been having their issues with them ever since. It's also a chance for redemption for the members of the "Big O" as both were scheduled to compete in last year's Upstate 8 tourney, but were unalbe to due to injuries suffered before the tournament.

-Chip Stetson is the center of much speculation lately in the NWA Upstate locker room. Back at the April 9th Ukie club show Stetson announced he planned on retiring soon, which eventually lead to Hellcat turning on him, hitting him with a fire ball and costing him his Dojo title. Stetson looked to comeback for revenge in Irondequoit at the All Star Sports Arena, as he took on the Osawa Syndicate in a six man tag with Marcos and the returning JP Black, only to be screwed out of the victory by the Out Cast Killaz. Chip Stetson has made it official that he will be retiring on July 2nd at the Ukrainian Club, but he's not going out without a fight! Chip Stetson has asked JP Black to once again stand in his corner, and help him take on the new Upstate tag team champions the Out Cast Killaz on 7/2! Upstate officials have signed the match, and have also put the OCK's tag team titles on the line! So on July 2nd we will see Chip Stetson's retirement match for the Upstate Tag Team Titles, as Chip Stetson teams with JP Black against the Out Cast Killaz! This tag team contest would be huge on its own, but now with the Tag Titles on the line, and Stetson's retirement announced, ANYTHING can happen!

-Evan McCloud has asked the Upstate office for a return match against former Natural Born Blonde Jason Atlas, after Atlas defeated him at Spring Fling. McCloud has been improving by leaps and bounds over the past year, which paid off with his match at Anniversary Anarchy against TNA superstar Bobby Roode. McCloud is determined to defeat Atlas at the Ukie club, as he sees it as the first step on the road to gold in Upstate. Atlas is looking to show that the Blondes were only holding him back, and that as a singles wrestler he will be more successful than ever.

-We recently received word that a new match has been signed for July 2nd, and was a surprising announcement to say the least. At the Ukie club we will see, for the first time in Rochester in 4 years, Kevin Dunn vs. Mean Marcos, the battle of the Ring Crew Express! The reason we were surprised to see this match be signed is we have gotten NO WORD on what exactly happened between the former tag team champions. Last time they were seen together in Upstate was when they were defeated by the Olsen's back in November. Since then they have gone on their own with singles competition. The most surprising news would be that Kevin Dunn requested this match. When asked why Dunn wanted the match, he simply said he wanted a competitive match, to prove he was still worthy of another title shot from Upstate. Not everyone is convinced with Dunn's words, as his recent attitude change gives us no reason to trust him. Hopefully we receive word on what happened between the former Ring Crew Express.

-A new stipulation has been added to the Survivor Series rules match signed for July 2nd at the Ukie club. Upstate officials have decided that since NWA Upstate Heavyweight Champion "Wonderman" Glenn Spectre used all of his members of the Banana Brigade to retain the title on 5/14, that his title will be ON THE LINE in the match! This means Spectre MUST survive to keep his title! Anyone who pins Spectre would then be the Upstate heavyweight Champion. This has just put a whole new element into this already explosive Survivor Series rules match.

-So the July 2nd show is starting to take shape, with the following matches confirmed....

Main Event- Three Way Elimination Match
D to the Icky vs. Jay Lethal vs. "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels

Co-Main Event- No Limits Championship Match
Jimmy Olsen vs. NWA TNA's Petey Williams(c)

NWA Upstate Tag Team Championship- Chip Stetson Retirement Match
Chip Stetson & JP Black vs. The Out Cast Killaz (c)w/Star Rider

Survivor Series 8 Man Tag- Upstate Championship is on the line!
Banana Brigade(Glenn Spectre(c), Jake N Bake, Freddie Midnight, & Jerk Jackson) vs. The Bruise Crew(Brodie Lee & Colin Olsen) & Up in Smoke(Cheech & Cloudy)

Battle of the Ring Crew Express
Mean Marcos w/Nikki Jet vs. Kevin Dunn

Upstate 8 Qualifying Match
Spazz & Psykita vs. Osawa Syndicate(Charisma & Kid Justice)

Rematch from Spring Fling
Jason Atlas vs. Evan McCloud

plus more to be signed with 1/3 of the Upstate six man champions Triple X, Big Cat, Mastif, Gabe Saint, Eric Everlast, Eric Cooper, and more!

THE DRILL - May 28th Edition Posted 05/28/05

-NWA Upstate would like to thank those in attendance for our debut at the All Star Sports Arena and making it a big success, despite the occasional audio issues. We are now focused on our return to where it all started, the Ukrainian Club in Webster on July 2nd!

-In the main event two weeks ago, we saw Brodie Lee come within one-second of being the new NWA Upstate Heavyweight Champion, if it wasn't for the outside interference from the Banana Brigade. Lee was able to use a modified cradle piledriver, but wasn't able to get the three count when ref Rob Ryan was pulled out of the ring. During the chaos Upstate Dojo champion Jake N Bake made his way to the ring and attacked Lee from behind and helped Glenn Spectre get the win to retain the title. Following the match all 4 Banana Brigade members attacked Lee, until The Olsen Twins, Cheech & Cloudy made the save. The issues behind these two teams are heated, and Upstate officials have decided to sign a 8 man survivor series style match with The Banana Brigade of Heavyweight champ Glenn Spectre, Dojo champ Jake N Bake, Jerk Jackson, and Freddie Midnight against The Bruise Crew of Brodie Lee & Colin Olsen, and Up in Smoke of Cheech & Cloudy! This match has the potential to steal the show, and with names like Williams & Daniels on hand, that's a big statement.

-The first of two title changes happened early in the show as the scheduled TV title match between challenger Triple X and No Limits TV champion Kevin Dunn actually never took place. TNA superstar Petey Williams made his way to ringside and attacked Triple X with Dunn's title, and then delivered the "Canadian Destroyer" to Psykita who tried to help Triple X. Williams said no weak American accepted the challenge, so he challenged Kevin Dunn for his title. Petey attempted to hit the Destroyer twice on Dunn, once Dunn was able to counter it with a back drop, and the other was from the top rope which was countered as well. In the end it took two attempted shots with the belt, and a low blow when the ref wasn't looking for Petey to get the solid advantage on Dunn. After that it was elementary with Petey applying the Sharpshooter and Dunn tapping out instantly.

After the show Jimmy Olsen approached Upstate management and demanded to get the first shot against Petey Williams on July 2nd. Olsen wants to be the one from Upstate who brings the title back home, and prove he's ready to take on the top independent talent from across the country. So one of the main events has been signed for July 2nd, as Petey Williams will make his first TV title defense against 1/2 of the former tag team champions, Jimmy Olsen!

-The second title change happened later on in the night as the Out Cast Killaz were able to defeat Tag Team ChampionsThe Olsen Twins with a second rope version of the West Coast Killa. This was only Diablo Santiago's second match back following his unfortunate injury, and didn't look to miss one beat after being out for nearly 3 months. The OCK have informed Upstate officials that they plan on taking the titles across the territory and defending them for various promotions.

-Chip Stetson won the big Pay Window battle royal, but was attacked from behind by the Osawa Syndicate and Hellcat. Marcos hit the ring for the save but the numbers game continued to play a part. Eventually Kid Justice(former RPW heavyweight champion) made his surprise return to even the odds, but then attacked Marcos and Chip Stetson!!! Justice has returned and joined the Big O! Hellcat added Justice to the tag match later, stating it a handicap match, unless Stetson could find another partner. When the music hit just Marcos and Stetson made there way to ringside, but they were able to get the upper hand early with a Marcos springboard cross body block. Eventually the 3 on 2 odds came into play, until DMX played over the PA and out from the back came the Dark Pony himself, JP BLACK! After being out of Rochester wrestling for nearly 3 years, the former NMW champion had returned to help out Stetson & Marcos! This match was hot the entire time, and Stetson had the match won until from the back came the Out Cast Killaz. The Killaz landed the East Coast Killa on Stetson which allowed the Syndicate to score the win.

-We have the first announced team for the second annual NWA Upstate 8 Tag Team Tournament scheduled for September, Up in Smoke of Cheech & Cloudy! The former Special K members earned the spot in the tournament by defeating the Banana Brigade in a qualifying match. NWA Upstate hopes to have more teams confirmed within the next few weeks, and to make an announcement at the July 2nd show.

-The Six Man champions did not have the greatest of nights, as mentioned above Triple X and Psykita were attacked by Petey Williams, and then later had to compete in a six man match with Spazz against the team of Mastif, Randy Walker, and Gutter. Mastif was able to get the pin fall on Triple X after the special referee for the match Johnny Kayfabe delivered a low blow to X while both he and Mastiff were climbing to the rope. The momentum of Mastiff sent him crashing back on top of Triple X giving Kayfabe enough time to execute a quick 3 count. After realizing what had transpired Mastiff, Walker, and Gutter attempted to confront Kayfabe about the cheap win only to see him slip out of the ring and walk right into a singapore cane shot from Spazz. All six other men involved in the match showed a great show of respect for each other following the contest and Mastiff has even impressed Upstate officials so much that he has earned a regular spot on the roster.

-The 'Showdown at Sundown' match between Bigcat and Texas Outlaw also did not happen due to an ankle injury that Outlaw suffered just a week before. Instead Bigcat carried his 'Body Slam Challenge' over from the last show infuriated that even though he did pick up and slam the monster Abyss, he was cheated out of the win because of an out cold official and the interference of Jennifer Blake. Upstate's very own legal watchdog Mr. Derrick Allen accepted the challenge in what he said was his first attempt at making Upstate an 'Up-Standing' promotion in New York. The Notorious BCL however made very quick work of Allen and has promised to be on hand for the Ukie Club's final show July 2nd to have one last memorable moment in a building synonymous with wrestling in Rochester.

-D to the Icky did not continue the winning streak going into his match against Christopher Daniels in July this past weekend when he attempted to win the Dojo championship. Momentum can make or break a wrestlers chance at getting that big win, and they don't come any bigger than Chris Daniels. Dicky will have his hands full come July 2nd at the Ukie Club and hopefully the ROC's very own will take it to the next level in what is no doubt one of the biggest matches for any local star to recieve.

-'The Exceptional Icon' and 'THE Natural Born Blonde' himself Eric Everlast did contiue his winning ways at Spring Fling with a victory over his former partner 'Mr One Night Stand' Steve Kruz. Everlast has been a house of fire since the split of The Blondes a few months back and looks to really be out to impress for what will be his last match at the Ukie Club.

-The third of the now disbanded Blondes, Jason Atlas also came up big at Spring Fling by beating local favorite Evan McCloud.

-So July 2nd is starting to take shape, and the following matches have been confirmed...

Main Event- Christopher Daniels vs. D to the Icky

Upstate TV Title Match- Petey Williams(c) vs. Jimmy Olsen

8 Man Survivor Series Elimination Match- Bruise Crew & Up in Smoke vs. Banana Brigade

plus more with Upstate Tag Team champs the Out Cast Killaz, Six Man champs Triple X, Spazz, & Psykita, The Osawa Syndicate(Charisma, Kid Justice, Gabe Saint), Chip Stetson, JP Black, Marcos, Mastiff, Kevin Dunn, Eric Everlast, Jason Atlas, Big Cat, Evan McCloud, and more to be signed.

-On the next Drill update we will have more information on the Upstate 8 Tag Tourney, Chip Stetson's status with Upstate and wrestling all together, JP Black's plans now that he's back, and more matches for the next event on July 2nd.

Quick results from Anniversary Anarchy 05!

Posted 04/11/05

This past Saturday saw Upstate's return to the Ukie Club in Webster, in front of another sold out/standing room only 400+ crowd. The birthday bash had it all, fantastic matches, surprising turns, title changes, and 3 hours of nonstop action, which we'd like to thank all of those in attendance.

"Wonderman"Glenn Spectre defeated Upstate Champion Danny Doring to win the title after interference from the Banana Brigade and TNA star Abyss. Doring held the title since 9/25 after he defeated then Champion HC Loc. Doring had to be helped to the back following the contest, but you can be sure that sometime in the future Doring will get his revenge on Spectre & the Banana Brigade.

Jay Lethal successfully defended his Ring of Honor Pure Wrestling title in his first ever defense(anywhere) against Upstate No Limits TV champion Kevin Dunn. Dunn had to use all 3 rope breaks in the contest, while Lethal only used 2. Be sure to keep up with Jay Lethal & his title reign at www.rohwrestling.com.

Jake N Bake pinned Chip Stetson to win the Dojo Championship after Hellcat hit Stetson in the face with a fireball. Stetson had earlier announced his plans to retire this summer, to which Hellcat obviously did not agree with. Stetson was burned badly and is coming for revenge against the Osawa Syndicate & Hellcat!

D to the Icky won the Six Way Free For All by pinning Dunn's hired gun, "The Modern Day Enforcer" Eric Cooper. Dicky will now face the TNA X Division Champion "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels on July 2nd at the final Ukrainian Club show! Also in the contest with strong showings were Upstate newcomer Danny Jaxx, Gabe Saint of the Syndicate, Oman Tortuga of the OCK and 1/2 of the Upstate 8 2004 tag tourney winners Azrieal.

TNA's Abyss defeated Big Cat in the Body Slam Challenge match after outside interference. Abyss earned a spot on the Ballpark Brawl's "Rochester Rumble" which was announced during the show by Ballpark Brawl representative Christopher Hill for Sunday, August 14th at Frontier Field in Rochester.

Mean Marcos gained a measure of revenge over the Syndicate as well as Charisma after pinning him in a classic match up. Charisma looked extremely well after taking nearly 1 year off from a neck injury, but it wasn't enough to defeat the experiencedMarcos.

In possibly the biggest upset in NWA Upstate history, "The Right Stuff" Brodie Lee defeated ROH's "Classic" Colt Cabana in a #1 contender's match to earn a shot at the Upstate title! This match saw it all, from top wrestling to hilarious comedy. Lee will now face off against Glenn Spectre on 5/14.

In a triple threat match to determine the rightful owner to the "Natural Born Blonde" name, Eric Everlast defeated Steve Kruz & Jason Atlas. These three have been having issues for nearly a year and we have finally seen the end of this trio. All three men looked great and showed that as individuals they could do much more than as a team.

The tag team title match between Up in Smoke(Cloudy & Cheech) and the Olsen Twins ended in a no contest when The Outcast Killaz' Oman Tortuga ran in and broke up the pin fall. Oman was obviously upset that the team they had defeated to become #1 contenders to the tag titles was getting a shot. In the end it was Oman being tossed around, as the 2 teams celebrated to the fans delight. The issues between the OCK and Olsens are far from over, with the OCK still having a title shot in the future.

Team Canada member Bobby Roode defeated local favorite Evan McCloud in a great debut, be on the look out for Roode on future Upstate events.

The Six Man champions (Triple X/Spazz/Psykita) made their first successful defense against the team of the Banana Brigade(Bobby Shields & Freddie Midnight) & the latest Osawa Syndicate member Primo Scordino. Following the contest Triple X got another measure of revenge against Johnny Kayfabe, furthering the issue between the two.

NWA Upstate would like to thank all those in attendance and look forward to another great year of wrestling action and fun.

Ring of Honor title defense @ Anniversary Anarchy Posted 03/11/05
As if NWA Upstate's first anniversary show wasn't big enough already, we have possibly the biggest announcement yet. Ring of Honor & NWA Upstate have come to terms and in a rare occasion the ROH Pure Wrestling Championship will be defended on 4/9 in Webster!

Those that follow ROH have heard the news that on Saturday, March 5th in Philadelphia, PA Jay Lethal(1/2 of the Upstate 8 winners) defeated Pure Wrestling champion John Walters to win the title(4th champion ever). Hellcat & Upstate officials quickly held meetings with ROH to get the match signed, and the agreement was reached! The NWA No Limits title match is now off for Anniversary Anarchy. We will now see the No Limits/TV champion Kevin Dunn challenge the ROH Pure Wrestling champion Jay Lethal!

This ROH Pure Title match up will be under Pure Title rules, which are the following...

1) 3 rope breaks allowed to break up a pin fall or submission
2) no closed fist
3) 20 second count out
This will mark the first time an ROH Championship title will be decided at an Upstate show as well as the first one-on-one matchup between Dunn and Lethal in Upstate as well. All of this leads up to what should be an hard-hitting wrestling classic between two of top up-and-coming stars in the indies today. In the coming weeks, we'll have a full rundown of the show as well as news on some rumored names who might be appearing at Anniversary Anarchy.

THE DRILL-

March 3rd Edition Posted 03/03/05 'Look- A- Here, Look- A- Here, Look- A- Here'... It's THE DRILL. And with the days before April 9th and Anniversary Anarchy melting away much quicker than the snow in Rochester, we have a whole new troop of rumors, announcements, and all around updates on whats leading into NWA Upstate's 1 year anniversary.

-As of February 13th it became official that NWA- Upstate will be bringing in Abyss, one of the top contenders for Jeff Jarrett's NWA/ TNA World heavyweight Championship. But much like last time the wrestlers in the locker room seem even more hesitant to bring in the same monster that debuted at X-Mas Chaos punishing not only some of the Kayfabe Dojo's elite students, but also Scott Cardinal. One last obstacle stands in Abyss' way however in the form of the 350 pound Big Cat Lemmer. The two goliaths had a heated confrontation on December 18th at X-Mas Chaos that was luckily broken up but Upstate officials before the building could be torn apart, but on April 9th there will be only a 16'x 16' ring and 1 official to try and contain these giants. Abyss has shown a recent sadistic streak with a thumbtack match against "The Alpha Male" Monty Brown as well as a victory in a Full Metal Mayhem match over Jeff Hardy at TNA's last pay-per-view, Against All Odds. One can only imagine what sick twisted thoughts and plans Abyss has in store for BCL. Could size really be the determining factor that could lead to Big Cat, the hometown hero showing he really is the 'biggest baddest man in town' or will Abyss show why he is the one of the best big man in the business?

-Speaking of big, rumors are flying left and right as to just exactly WHO this surprise former ECW champion is thats set to appear live at Anniversary Anarchy. HC Loc and Danny Doring are both former ECW Alum who have made HUGE impacts in NWA Upstate in the last year with both men capturing the Upstate Heavyweight Championship within a short time of their arrival. Could this also be the debut of yet another former Philadelphia Champion looking to sink his teeth into the finest gold in all of New York State?

-Danny Doring however needs to stay focused as he gears up fro his most bizarre encounter since his game show gig when he takes on 'WONDERMAN' Glenn Spectre. Nobody's quiet sure of how Spectre, the ring leader of the newest group, The Banana Brigade" which includes the likes of 'Hangin Tough' Freddy Midnight and 'True Talent' Bobby Shields but it seems once Hellcat heard the three simple words 'We're Taking Over' come out of Spectre's mouth last show after he and his crew demolished poor Synndy in the middle of the ring, he was willing to do business. Both Spectre and Doring have been all over the East Coast and Spectre could actually be one of the top up and coming stars in this region so it will be interesting to see who prevails what is sure to be an amazing display of technical wrestling.

-As long as we're on the topic of young up and coming stars, NWA Upstate gets to see the return of not one, but BOTH of the first ever NWA-Upstate Tag Team 8 Champions as both Jay Lethal and Azrieal have signed on to appear at Anniversary Anarchy. Lethal is being given a shot at another championship in his return to Upstate as he battles another rising star in the form of the No Limits TV Champion Kevin Dunn. Both Lethal and Dunn have encountered each other numerous times in Tag team action in Ring of Honor up and down the East Coast but this will be there first time meeting in a No Limits style match. No one is quiet sure what to expect yet but you can bet Lethal's partner Azrieal as well as D To The Icky, the #1 Contender for Dunn's No Limits TV Title, will be watching on closely in the back.

-Both Azrieal and D to the Icky have the chance of a lifetime on April 9th as they make up one half of a 4 Corners match along with Oman Tortuga of the Outcast Killaz and Evan McCloud to see who will move on to challenge 'The Fallen Angel' Christopher Daniels when he comes to Upstate in July. This is a HUGE opportunity for all 4 men involved in the match to show what their made of, but Oman looks to be going in with the most momentum after he and his partner Diablo Santiago defeated Cloudy and Cheech of Special K in their last visit to Upstate at Wrestlebowl. Evan McCloud is going into this match knowing that he has a chance at the biggest match of his career if he meets Daniels in July so everyones favorite fighting Irishman has already made his intentions clear that he WILL NOT accept failure in this case. But the fans in this one might just be swinging in favor of The Rochester's own D to the Icky. Dicky put on a hell of a fight against Kevin Dunn for the No Limits TV Title in their table match at Wrestlebowl and looks to have gotten a whole new drive and determination from it, hopefully Mr. Sanchez can stay focused on the chance to fight Daniels in July instead of worrying about getting Dunn's No Limits title around his waist.

-The other half of the Ring Crew Express, Dunn's partner Marcos will get a chance to extract a little revenge on the Osawa Syndicate for screwing him out the Kayfabe Dojo Title at Wrestlebowl as he faces their newest member Charisma. No one is still really sure exactly why Charisma made the jump to join the Syndicate, but Hellcat did make sure the first ever NWA- Upstate Champion was well taken care of when he was sidelined with a neck injury nearly 8 months ago, so some sort of loyalty or partnership may have blossomed from that. Angering Mean Marcos however may not have been the best way to mark a return for Charisma former fan favorite, but a match of this stature is bound to have some kind of title ramifications ties to it at some point down the road so what a way for both superstars to show off what they really have.

-Charisma's partner's in the Syndicate are rumored to be given not 1 but 2 upcoming shots at the NWA- Upstate 6 Man tag Team Titles one of which could be set to happen at April 9th. With matches still yet to be signed and the rivalry between the Syndicate and the reigning champions Triple X/ Spazz/ and Psykita growing more and more, the ex members of the Syndicate have had many restless nights trying to guess which combination will challenge them for the trophy on April 9th, but hopefully THE DRILL will have an answer for you within the next few weeks.

-Another group having problems with it's members calling it quits is the Natural Born Blondes. At Wrestlebowl all of us hear thought we had the demise, the collapse, the end of the Natural Born Blondes as we know it. But the Blondes manager Mad Dog Bobby Rogers insists 'NO'. Mad Dog has insisted that only Steve Kruz walked out on the Blondes and they are still running stronger, and blonder than ever. None of that will matter though because Anarchy will truly reign in the ring on April 9th as the boundaries of blondness and limits of friendship are tested when Kruz as well as Jason Atlas and "The Exceptional Icon' Eric Everlast all have a chance to battle for the rights to the 'Natural Born Blondes' name in a three way dance. Given their year long partnership and past victories involving all kinds of tag team gold whoever wins the rights to the new wins the rights to the history as well, so we'll get to see just how determined Atlas & Everlast really are to work as a team and keep their name away from Kruz or weather it IS all just in a name and a contract.

-And as if ALL that wasn't enough to make April 9th and Anniversary Anarchy wasn't enough TNA star and Team Canada member Bobby Roode has JUST been signed to appear. But against who? Lets get that rumor mill cranking right off the bat as to just what his agenda may be on April 9th. Roode and his Team Canada partner 'Showtime' Eric Young are former TNA Tag Team Champions and Roode has held gold all over North America... Could Roode be on another solo quest for gold or will he have Canadian company with him to make a run in one of the HOTTEST Tag team divisions in the North East? With The Olsen's as Tag Team Champions and Ring of Honor names like the Outcast Killaz, Special K, Dunn & Marcos, & 2004 Tag Team Upstate 8 Tournament winners Jay Lethal & Azrieal battling it out in the tag scene already in Upstate, Roode's arrival could be the first sign that a TNA team could be Upstate bound. With teams from ROH already here and possible TNA stars on the way the cross- promotional possibilities are endless as the 2nd Upstate 8 Tag Tournament this summer.
