NWS 8/18 Results from Belleville, NJ

Due to time constraints, this is going to be a quick report:

Dirty Dan Petit & JD Smoothie d. Poco Romeo & Mikey Pacifica
Not a good match here. Everyone in the ring were wearing the same colors and the wrestling wasn't too hot. Smoothie stood out as the best of the four.

Before the match Danny Demanto & Kevin Matthews came out to talk about how bad the wrestlers were, which was funny to smart-mark fans but I don't know how that is supposed to get over the wrestlers involved in the match. Danny brought up sending Poco Romeo to the hospital 2 years ago in a nearby town. The end of the match saw Danny interfere, helping "DDP" & JD Smoothie win the match.

The NWS Tag Team Champions Nicky Oceans & Shane Taylor successfully defended their titles against Pastor George & Big Dan Marquez
The champions easily outclassed their opponents and you could see who the better team was in the match.

Alexa Thatcher defeated Alicia to become the new WSU Womens Champion in what was easily the match of the night.
Alexa was able to reverse a crucifix and get the surprising upset pin on Alicia. We'll have full details in a seperate DOI/WSU update.

Saddam Insane w/Danny Demanto & Kevin Matthews vs Jay Santana turned into a no contest after outside interference from Danny & Kevin. Tito Santana made the save, setting up a tag match between the Santanas and Danny/Insane.

In matches after intermission...

Vicious Vinny d. Warrior Draven to win the NWS Heavyweight Championship
Vinny looks great. The guy has lost 300 or something pounds. He even pulled out his old spinning wheel kick, a move he was able to do when he was 400 pounds. Vinny had real gear and had the most impressive match I've ever seen from him. It is always good to see one of the nicest guys and a good guy overcome the odds, work hard and be successful. Draven did a solid job of playing the antagonist.

Tito & Jay Santana d. Danny Demanto & Saddam Insane w/Kevin Matthews in the main event.
Tito might be the hardest working legend on the indies, as the guy always goes out of his way to put over the younger guys and have good matches with them. Tito hit the El Burrito on Danny for the win, sending the crowd home happy. Standard NWS main event that made the crowd go home with a smile.

Quick Notes...
Carmine Sabia of SSCW fame, was going to try to conquer his phobia and attend the event, since it was in his hometown of Belleville, but couldn't make it...there was a chair in his honor in case he did make it.... Billy Reil, with his head taped up with medical tape and gauze, was there with several burns on his face, due to an ill-timed fireball at a previous NWS event... he hopes to return to the ring soon....Also in attendance were JWA regulars Corey Xyde & Triple J... Also there were Bandido Jr., Kasey Koresh and Ref Hanson, with Hanson providing DVD commentary for the WSU Title match...Crowd was approximately 150+....NWS returns tomorrow night in Shark River, NJ.
