National Wrestling Superstars made its debut in Dunellen, NJ on Saturday night July 7th before an enthusiastic crowd at the Knights Of Columbus Hall. Although exact attendance figues were not available as of this report, NWS management was more than pleased with the turnout for a new location on a hot July Saturday night.
The show started with another match in what has become a heated rivalry between Delaware loudmouth J.D. Smooth and Mikey Pacifica. The two battled in the air and on the mat until Smooth reversed a back body drop from Pacifica into a roll-up and pinned him 1-2-3 for the victory.
Before the next match, manager Royce Profit came out to the ring, along with Baghdad Bullies member T.N.T who was on crutches claiming to have an ankle injury. Profit claimed that T.N.T could not wrestle The Patriot in the main event that night, and introduced T.N.T's replacement, none other than his Baghdad Bullies partner Saddam Insane.
The second match was a special Ladies Match. Royce Profit led the 2006 Women's J-Cup Champion Alexa Thatcher to the ring. The crowd cheered as Alexa's opponent was introduced - none other than TNA Wrestling's own Miss Traci Brooks. Miss Brooks' wrestling skills have been coming out more and more on TV each week, and the Dunellen fans got to see them in person as she held her own against the J-Cup Champion Alexa. However, the presence of Royce Profit at ringside proved to be Miss Brook's undoing, as he distracted the referee from a certain pinfall by Miss Brooks, and threw a chain into the ring into Miss Brooks' hands. The referee saw Miss Brooks with the chain, assumed she had used it to knock down Alexa (who was doing an Oscar-worthy imitation of a wrestler hit by a chain), and disqualified Miss Brooks, giving the win to Alexa. Miss Brooks argued but to no avail.
The third match of the evening was a tag-team affair. The Mayaku Brothers from Japan, Kibootsie & Sibootsie, came to the ring with Royce Profit (who seemed to have all the heels under his manager's contract that night), against The Rogue and Indian Warrior Draven. At first, Kibootsie's size was too much for Rogue & Draven to handle, but they eventually began to wear the Japanese warriors down, and went toe-to-toe with them for several minutes. The Mayakus managed to isolate Draven from his partner and tried to wear him down, but Rogue eventually got tagged in and cleaned house. As Sibootsie was about to be pinned after a powerbomb from Draven, Saddam Insane charged to the ring and attacked Draven and Rogue until The Patriot appeared and chased Saddam out of the ring. The referee ruled the bout a double-disqualification. The Patriot demanded that he be allowed a manager at ringside to even the odds with Royce Profit, and chose Miss Traci Brooks. Miss Brooks, still smarting from Royce Profit causing her to lose her match earlier, was more than happy to oblige.
After intermission, NWS treated the fans to a bonus bout between Jersey wrestling veteran Danny Demanto and Ring Of Honor protege Mitch Franklin. Although Demanto was nearly twice Franklin's size (and made sure to make fun of it all throughout their match), Franklin took the fight to Demanto and used his speed advantage to keep the big man off balance. But size did end up mattering, as Demanto eventually overpowered Franklin and then flattened him with a body splash off the top rope to pin him 1-2-3 for the victory.
Up next was a #1 Contenter Match for the NWS Jersey Shore Title between former champion Nicky Oceans (who is now a member of The Psychadelic Sissies, and unfortunately dresses like them) and rising star Rhett Titus. Titus has gone toe-to-toe with Oceans in their past meetings, and this meeting proved to be just the same, as they battled for fifteen minutes untill the time limit expired and the match was declared a draw. Titus asked for five more minutes, which was okay'ed by Commissioner Gino Moore, but Oceans declared that the crowd wasn't worth five seconds more of his time, and left the ring. Titus charged after him, and the two continued to brawl outside the ring until security finally separated them.
Then it was Main Event time. Out first came the 400-pound Baghdad Bullies member Saddam Insane with Royce Profit in his corner. Then the crowd cheered as Miss Brooks led America's Hero The Patriot to the ring. The Patriot & Miss Brooks first riled up their opponents by squirting ketchup and mustard from the concession stand on Saddam and Royce, then the battle began inside and outside the ring. At one point they brawled into a storage closet in the back. Once they were back in the ring, Saddam and Royce tried to double-team The Patriot, but America's Hero, with help from Miss Brooks, evened the score, and was able to pin Saddam Insane and win the match, sending the Dunellen crowd home happy and hoping for NWS to return soon.
