On a personal note, I would like to thank Chip Stetson for the contributions he's made to not only to the Ukie Club, but to wrestling in Upstate New York as a whole. Even though he never made it to "the big show", he had one hell of a run and in a business filled with backstabbers and egos, Stetson has been a standup guy, a hell of a worker, and a true class act. I think I speak for all the fans and everyone's who's been a part of his career when I say, "Thank You Chip."

X-Division title to Upstate & more updates!
-NWA Upstate is proud to announce that at "A Final Farewell" this Saturday, the 3 Way Elimination match between "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels, Jay Lethal, and D to the Icky will now be a NWA TNA X-Division title match! Jay Lethal brought the ROH Pure Wrestling title to Upstate back in April at Anniversary Anarchy, and he now has an opportunity to walk away with a TNA belt, and he doesn't even work for the company!!! D to the Icky has the most to gain from the situation, being in line for a shot at the title in just his 3rd year in wrestling! This match, which was a main event caliber match, has now just been taken to the next level!
-They Survivor Series match for this Saturday has now been changed to a 10 man traditional style Survivor Series match! Banana Brigade have added "True Talent" Bobby Shields to the match, one of the original Brigade members. Up & Smoke have in response decided to give Johnny Blaze, normally a corner man for the group, a spot in the match. This 10 man tag may just be too much for any ONE ref to handle, but Upstate will be sure to assign a ref that will be able to handle all of the action on his own.
-Four of the Upstate 8 Tag Teams have been signed for the tourney on September 10th,
"The Next" Alex Shelley & Jimmy Jacobs
"Youthinasia"- M-Dogg 20 & Josh Prohibition
"The Backseat Boyz"- Trent Acid & Johnny Kashmere
"Up in Smoke"- Cheech & Cloudy
We also know either the team of Spazz & Psykita or Kid Justice & Charisma(The Osawa Syndicate) will be qualified for the tourney after this weekend, and we plan to make an announcement about the final 3 teams this Saturday in Webster!!! We also should have first round matches announce shortly after the this weekend. The following have also been signed for the Upstate 8 event in non tournament action...
Upstate Champion Glenn Spectre, Kayfabe Dojo champion "Wonderman" Glenn Spectre, JP Black, Marcos, Mastif, "The Right Stuff" Brodie Lee, and Kevin Dunn.
Don't miss out this Saturday in Webster, when NWA Upstate presents "A Final Farewell" at the Ukrainian Club! Be there to witness the debut of Christopher Daniels & the X-Division title, Jay Lethal, TV champion Petey Williams, and all of your local Upstate favorites!
Full Preview for Saturday's "A Final Farewell"
On July 2nd NWA Upstate will return to Webster, New York at the Ukrainian Club for the final show before the building is torn down. The history at the Ukrainian Club runs deep, from the current NWA Upstate shows all the way back to the start with New Millennium Wrestling in early 2000. Below is a full preview of what will go down this Saturday, but don't forget you never can tell what surprises will happen here in Upstate.
NWA Upstate Tag Team Championship- "The Final Farewell"
Chip Stetson & JP Black vs. The Out Cast Killaz(c) w/ Star Rider
-Not only will July 2nd be the final wrestling show being held at the Ukrainian Club, it will also be the final wrestling match for the one and only Chip Stetson. Chip has been a mainstay in Rochester wrestling from 2000 - 2002 & made his return early last year. Stetson is not only a veteran of the ring, but also a locker room leader, mentoring many of the young up and coming talents in Upstate as well.
This match has been set up due to the Out Cast Killaz getting involved with Stetson & Black's match back in May at the All Star Sports Arena. Black, making a surprise return to Rochester wrestling came to the aid of Stetson & Marcos, and had the match well in hand, until the OCK made their presence felt(later winning the tag titles that same night). Stetson's team had lost the contest to Hellcat's Osawa Syndicate, a feud Stetson had been looking to put behind him and move on with his career. One has to wonder if Stetson is 100% focused on the Out Cast Killaz, knowing in the back of his mind that Hellcat got the better of him back in May. Or even more importantly, will Hellcat respect Chip's announcement of his final match and let Chip have his moment in the spotlight?
The Out Cast Killaz since winning the titles here in Upstate have sense taken the titles on the road, defending them in various territories and promotions. The OCK have defended the titles successfully against All Money Is Legal(AMIL), Notorious INC, The Elm Street Kids, and the Next Generation in New Jersey's AWA promotion, also capturing their tag title belts in a title vs. title match up. The OCK have been determined to raise the value of the Upstate tag titles, making them more known throughout the other territories. The OCK motives are unknown still to this day, hopefully they will shed some light on their actions come July 2nd.
The one who has to be most confused in this match is possibly JP Black. On one hand he has an opportunity to win the Upstate tag team titles in just his second match back in Rochester. On the other hand, if they DO win the match, what will happen with Chip's retirement later that night? Will Chip stay with JP and defend the titles or leave JP high and dry?
This match has many possibilities, its nearly impossible to see how this one will turn out. One thing is for sure, this will be one bittersweet Final Farewell.
Three Way Elimination Match
NWA TNA X-Division Champion "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels vs. 2004 Upstate 8 Tag Team Tourney winner Jay Lethal vs. D to the Icky
-NWA Upstate has been trying to bring in the top indy talent from around the country, and have scored with their biggest star yet. Christopher Daniels is known world-wide as being one of the best in the squared circle, working for top promotions in the United States(WWE/F, WCW, ECW, NWA-TNA, Ring of Honor), Japan(New Japan Pro Wrestling & Michinoku Pro as Curry Man), and over seas in Europe as well as Puerto Rico. Daniels has also held DOZENS of championships over his career, currently the NWA X-Division champion. Also a former NWA Tag champion, ROH Tag champion, ECWA champion as well as 2 time ECWA Super 8 tourney winner(only man to ever win two times), as well as titles in Japan and Puerto Rico.
Jay Lethal is possibly the hottest prospect in pro wrestling today. Lethal cut his teeth in various New Jersey based promotions early on in his career, most notably for Jersey All Pro Wrestling, and Jersey Championship Wrestling, along with USA Pro Wrestling. It wasn't long before Lethal had made his way to Ring of Honor, joining up with the Special K group as Hydro. Lethal would go on to have brutal feuds with the Carnage Crew, as well as a series of matches against the Ring Crew Express. In the summer/fall of this past year Lethal, after a talk from then Ring of Honor Champion Samoa Joe, decided it was best for him to leave Special K, kick the partying and take wrestling seriously. Since then Lethal has not looked back. First winning the NWA Upstate 8 Tag Team Tourney with Azrieal(defeating the Olsen Twins, The Out Cast Killaz, and Izzy/Dixie of Special K). Lethal later went on to defeat John Walters to win the ROH Pure Championship, and had successful title defense against Kevin Dunn(at Upstate's Anniversary Anarchy) and former WWE superstar Spanky(ROH's Stalemate 4/16), until losing the title to former ROH champion and mentor Samoa Joe(ROH's Manhattan Mayhem 5/7). Lethal is also the current Jersey All Pro Heavyweight champion, and has competed in Japan earlier this year.
D to the Icky is the Cinderella story of Upstate wrestling. Dicky is without a doubt one of the most beloved Upstate wrestlers, and has earned all of their respect through strong showings over the past year. Dicky was embedded in a heated feud with then TV champion Kevin Dunn, taking some of the most brutal beatings ever witnessed in an Upstate ring. Dicky might not have walked out of the feud with the TV title, but he had earned all the fans respect for his spirit and determination. Dicky then went on to win a 6 way free for all where the winner would get a shot at Christopher Daniels.
This is without a doubt the biggest match up signed in Upstate history, and has the chance to steal the show, and will no doubt be worth the price of admission alone. Can Dicky survive with one of the biggest names in indy wrestling today, and the hottest prospect in the sport? One thing is for sure, Dicky hasn't backed down to anything in the past, and is sure not to back down to this challenge on July 2nd.
NWA Upstate No Limits/TV Title Match
Jimmy Olsen vs. TNA's Petey Williams(c)
-Petey Williams made a huge impact on Upstate wrestling this past May, interrupting the scheduled Triple X vs. Kevin Dunn match, attacking both Triple X and Psykita(who was on the receiving end of the Canadian Destroyer), and then went on to defeat Dunn for the belt. Jimmy Olsen was extremely vocal about the situation backstage, and demanded to get the first shot at Williams and the TV title. Upstate officials agreed and signed the match for Final Farewell on July 2nd, with Petey Williams defending his newly won title against Jimmy Olsen.
Williams is a former TNA X Division Champion and a charter member of Team Canada. If that wasn't enough, Petey Williams also won the annual Super 8 indy tourney held by ECWA this past spring. Jimmy Olsen is a former Upstate tag team champion with brother Colin Olsen and a former Kayfabe Dojo Champion, but is he ready for the test of the Canadian Destroyer & Petey Williams? The fans of Upstate will be behind Olsen on July 2nd, hoping he will bring the title back home where it belongs.
10 Man Survivor Series Rules Match- NWA Upstate Title on the line!!!
The Banana Brigade(Upstate champion Glenn Spectre, Dojo champion Jake N Bake, Freddie Midnight, Jerk Jackson & "True Talent" Bobby Shields) vs. The Bruise Crew("The Right Stuff" Brodie Lee & Colin Olsen) & Up in Smoke(Cheech & Cloudy & Johnny Blaze)
-This match has all the ingredients to tear the roof off of the Ukie club(before Wal-Mart gets the chance to). Glenn Spectre & Brodie Lee had a great main event title match last show, with Spectre needing help from the entire Brigade to gain the win. Lee is looking for revenge, but he's not alone. Up in Smoke scored the victory over Brigade members Jerk Jackson & Freddie Midnight that same show, but were attacked from behind by Spectre. Just when the fans in attendance thought the worst was to come for Brodie Lee as the Brigade had the 4 on 1 advantage, the Olsen's along with Up in Smoke came out to make the save.
This match has the potential to steal the show, and now that Upstate officials announced that Spectre's title would be on the line, there's no telling what will go down in this match. Lee wants his revenge on Spectre, and is bringing Bruise Crew member Colin Olsen along for the fight. Cheech & Cloudy look to further gain momentum for the Upstate 8, which they have already qualified for. We are still trying to figure out what exactly the Banana Brigade wants, besides each other. Despite their "interesting" taste's, the Brigade is not to be over looked, as they do currently hold two of Upstate's championships. Can Spectre walk out of another Upstate show with the gold around his waist, or will Lee, or even Colin, Cheech, Cloudy, or Blaze walk out with 15 more pounds in their suitcase?
Ring Crew Express Explode
Marcos w/Nikki Seven vs. Kevin Dunn
-For the first time in over 3 years, Dunn & Marcos will step into a Rochester wrestling ring, not as tag team partners, but as opponents. It was 9 months ago when the RCE last tagged in Rochester, losing the tag team titles in their second loss as a tag team in Rochester, to the Olsen Twins. Neither Dunn nor Marcos has ever commented on the split in Rochester, but still have teamed for Ring of Honor and Full Impact Pro in Florida. Possibly the most interesting part about this match is that it was requested by Dunn. We have still yet to reach Dunn to get any comments on why he requested this match.
One year ago these two were undefeated in Upstate as the tag team champions and on top of the Rochester wrestling scene, and since then have found their own success in the singles division. Marcos is one of the most beloved wrestlers in Upstate today, which is the complete opposite of his on again, off again tag partner Dunn, who has struck a nerve with the Rochester fans over the past half year or so. They started their issues in the Ukrainian Club back in June 2000, and it looks like it will end 5 years later, at A Final Farewell.
Winner Receives spot in Upstate 8 2005
Spazz & Psykita(2/3 six man champions) vs. Osawa Syndicate(Charisma & Kid Justice)
-The Big "O" has been on a roll as of late, first with Charisma joining by helping Hellcat attack Triple X, then Kid Justice making his surprise return back in May. Possibly the biggest wave of momentum comes from the victory in the six man tag match at Spring Fling in May as the Syndicate defeated Marcos, Chip Stetson, and the returning JP Black. Justice & Charisma were set for the tag tourney last year, but injuries forced both men to pull out.
Spazz & Psykita have found success in the six man division with Triple X in their corner, but one has to wonder if they are ready to make the leap into straight tag team matches, let alone one with so much on the line. They are without a doubt the fan favorites in this match, and will have 100% of their support, but they are up against a solid team that is on a roll, and let's not forget the outside factor of the rest of the Syndicate & Hellcat himself.
Also in action this weekend we will see....
"Body Slam Challenge"- Big Cat vs. Eric Everlast
-Everlast has been on a roll as of late, first winning the Natural Born Blondes 3 way dance for the rights to the name, and then defeating Steve Kruz one on one at Spring Fling in May. Big Cat is coming off of a huge challenge from the monster Abyss back in April, and looking to continue to bounce back from that loss.
"Six Way Free For All Match"- Triple X vs. Gabe Saint vs. Gutter vs. Eric Cooper vs. Evan McCloud vs. Mastif
-The name says it all, FREE FOR ALL! They're are no tags in this one folks, it will be non stop mayhem. Triple X is looking to rebound after being attacked and taken out of his TV title match last month by Petey Williams. Evan McCloud is looking to rebound after losses to veteran Jason Atlas at Spring Fling and TNA star Bobby Roode at Anniversary Anarchy. Mastif is the hottest prospect to come into Upstate in some time, and is looking to continue to impress Upstate officials and fans in this action packed match. Gabe Saint is looking to prove to Hellcat that he deserves his spot with the Syndicate, and that he deserves another big match opportunity. Eric Cooper & Gutter have both only had a few appearances here in Upstate, but are looking to be the dark horses in this match, hopefully being able to come away with the upset this Saturday.
Jason Atlas vs. Steve Kruz
-The history runs deep between both of these wrestlers. Both were members of the now defunct Natural Born Blondes, and have been looking to get a chance at each other since their split. After hearing that this was the FINAL Ukrainian Club show ever, Atlas demanded the match against Kruz, saying he wants to put it all to rest, and prove that he was the true leader of the Blondes.
Make sure to join us for what will be a moment in Rochester wrestling history, as Upstate holds the last event EVER at the Ukrainian Club in Webster(1970 Empire Blvd). Tickets will be available at the door, $13 for an adult, $6 children prices(under 10 years old). Be there to witness the debut of Christopher Daniels, the return of Petey Williams & Jay Lethal, as well as the FINAL show at the Ukie club.
