What's up everyone and welcome to another big interview, here on the DOI site. This time I sat down with former WWE Intercontinental & Tag Team Champion, Test. (Real Name: Andrew Martin.) In this interview, Andrew talks about his release from WWE, the indy scene, his favorite match and more. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Hey Test, thanks alot for doing this interview. My first question to you is what's it like being out of the WWE and being on the indy scene?
Andrew "Test" Martin: Being in the indy scene right now is a breath of fresh air. I make my own schedule and finally I can perform and do what I want to, and not what I am told to do.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: How did you get into the wrestling business, and who were some of your influences while breaking in?
Andrew "Test" Martin: I met Bret Hart at a restaurant in Toronto and to make a long story short, he gave me the chance of a lifetime and offered to train me.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You've had several big programs in the WWE, such as the tag team T & A, your feud with Triple H/Stephanie McMahon and your classic match against Shane McMahon. What are some of your favorite WWE matches and moments?
Andrew "Test" Martin: My favourite match is still the love her or leave her match I had with Shane McMahon.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Several wrestlers who have been cut in the last 2 years have publicly come out and trashed Triple H as a wild man who weilds much influence and power. What are your thoughts on Triple H as a wrestler, a person and as a "backstage politician" ?
Andrew "Test" Martin: People bitch about HHH all the time. The cold hard facts are that he and his wife will be running that company one day, when the old man dies. That's the way it is. Do I think it's good for business? No, but that's how it is.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Who are some of your favorite indy wrestlers to watch?
Andrew "Test" Martin: I've really started to enjoy Samoa Joe and Abyss's work. They have come a long way and are great workers.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Why do you think you were released from the WWE, especiallly at a time when you were recuperating from an injury?
Andrew "Test" Martin: I was released because my downside guarantee was a lot more than what they give guys now, but it really came down to that I don't kiss ass- Never have, never will.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What ex-WWE and what WWE wrestlers do you keep in contact with today?
Andrew "Test" Martin: I still talk to Tommy Dreamer when he's not eating, so i barely talk to him. I also talk to The Undertaker, A-Train, Val Venis and Stacy Keibler.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Have you had any contact with either ROH or TNA? If so, how are your negotiations with those companies?
Andrew "Test" Martin: I have talked with TNA and I love their attitude and product. Plus it's so close for me to drive to.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What is one of your favorite road stories that you can talk about?
Andrew "Test" Martin: What happens on the road stays on the road.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What are your thoughts about debuting for UXW on 9/24? What are your thoughts on UXW Promoter, Frank Goodman?
Andrew "Test" Martin: I think Frank is a good guy and look forward to working with him.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What do you want to say to anyone reading this?
Andrew "Test" Martin: You can contact me at andrewtestmartin.com and I wanted to thank all the fans for all your support. Trust me, this may be the end of Test, but not the end of Andrew Martin.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Thanks alot for this interview and good luck with your future endeavors.
