Southern Vinny Stylin'

Hello everybody and welcome to another McInterview. Today’s special guest is former NYWC Interstate Champion, Southern Vinny Stylin’. Southern Vinny Stylin’ or SVS, is an up and coming wrestler from the critical mass wrestling school, and has even fought former WWF superstar, (I’m using the word superstar loosely here) Virgil. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: How did you into in pro wrestling? What was your training like?
Southern Vinny Stylin': Wrestling has always been my dream, and since you only live once I decided to go for it. I didn't want to end up regreting it later on in life, and it gave me something to do instead of hanging out on the streets for my whole life and never doing anything. I went to Skullcrushers wrestling school in Gulf Breeze, Florida where I was trained by wrestling legend "Exotic" Adrian Street. He taught a very old school style of working which centered around mat work and chain wresting and psychology. I started working the indy's down south for a few months before moving back to New York where I found Critical Mass and received ALOT of fine tuning by Mike Mayhem and John Curse, who are my trainers as we speak.
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: Who were your favorite wrestlers growing up? Least favorite?
Southern Vinny Stylin': When I was growing up I was a Hulkamaniac. Besides Hogan, I always liked the heels. I loved the Honky Tonk Man, Rick Rude, Mr. Perfect, Ted Diabise. I didn't have a least favorite wrestler growing up, I loved everything about wrestling.
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: You represent the "Dirty South" and always carry the Confederate flag with you during your matches. Have you ever had any incidents with fans at any shows because of your views? Also what do you have to say to the fan (Sign Guy) who chanted at you "Who won the war?" when you wave your flag?
Southern Vinny Stylin': I've been threatened for carrying the confederate flag, but never anything more then that. Most of the time its intoxicated fans at the Elks Lodge, haha. And as for the sign guy, wrestling shows need fans like that who are gonna start chants and basically get the crowd into it during a long wrestling show.
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: You recently wrestled nWo jobber Virgil aka Vincent at a recent USA Pro show. What was it like wrestling someone who has been in the wrestling business for so long, and what did you feel about that match?
Southern Vinny Stylin': I was pretty nervous actually, say what you want about Virgil but he was involved in one of the biggest angles of all time, the roof blew off the arena when he turned on Ted Diabise because it was years in the making. I went up to him to introduce myself and tell him I would be working him, and he asked me how long I've been working. When I answered "two years", he said "Nah, two minutes, your a rookie." It caught me by surprise but it was funny and actually made me alot less nervous. The match was good for what it was, a basic match. I would of liked to go all out in that situation, but he's the veteran so it was his call.
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: What has been your best match in your opinion?
Southern Vinny Stylin': Against Brigham Beau, who is a graduate of Skullcrushers, in Alabama. We had this great chemistry for some reason, and I would love to get the chance to wrestle him again one day. In the northeast, I'd say its a close second with Livewyre and Dickie Rodz.
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: Who are your favorite opponents?
Southern Vinny Stylin': I've had the most fun working Dickie Rodz, Tyler Payne, Maxmilyin, Armand DeMeruto and the Solution. It was also great to get to do a few spots with Konnan and Norman Smiley.
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: There has been rumors about a feud brewing with yourself and Maximillyan, from Team Corona, on the NYWC message boards. What's up with that?
Southern Vinny Stylin': There is no feud, last NYWC show the Dirty South Playa showed everyone that Maxmilyin isn't on my level. In actuality, Max has a lot of potential if he can get his head out of his ass and realize it.
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: You have wrestled alot in NY, from USA Pro to NYWC. What other feds are you looking to branch out to, and what are your feelings on working USA PRO and NYWC?
Southern Vinny Stylin': I'm looking to branch out to NJ, and hopefully start working for JCW, SSCW, etc. And eventually I see myself in ECWA and ROH. NYWC is like a huge family and we are really starting to take off, I love working there with my 2nd family. USA Pro is a great experience being around so many legends in this business. I also work for WWW.
Sean “The MiC” McCaffrey: Would your dream tag team partner be Crazy Ivan?
Southern Vinny Stylin': Crazy Ivan was the one who introduced me into USA Pro, and I did get to team with him once and it was a lot of fun, he is one of the best at getting heel heat.
