Slyk Wagner Brown

What up DOImaniacs and welcome to another McInterview. This time, I interviewed Slyk Wagner Brown. Slyk has won many championships in his career, and most recently picked up the JAPW Tag Team Titles, The JCW Heavyweight Title, The USA Pro Extreme and US titles, as well as others. Slyk has also made his 3PW debut, as well as working overseas in UK and Puerto Rico in 2004. Slyk has also been the talk of many Ring of Honor fans, sometimes in a negative way. "The Underground King" discusses everything in this interview, from his relationship to April Hunter, to criticism from fans to his career, and much more. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Slyk, the last time we did an interview, back in August, things looked on the up and up for you. In my opinion your career since August has gone up and down and then up and down again. What are your feelings on what has transpired since August?
Slyk Wagner Brown: I had some good and bad matches for ROH and with them having the most exposure, when people see that, they sometimes choose to focus on the bad and forget about the good.
Slyk Wagner Brown: I don't think it's the fans. I like the roh fans and judging from their reaction at live events, they like me too...so the message board heroes can kiss my black ass.
Slyk Wagner Brown: I went into 3/13 knowing it was my last full-time date, so there's no heat there as far as I know.
Slyk Wagner Brown: I think it's a smart move on TNA's part. Why buy the ppv when you can see TNA wrestlers for the same price at roh shows. It sucks for roh, but it will force them to be more creative and give more wrestlers an opportunity to shine.
Slyk Wagner Brown: Winning the JCW Title was special for me because I competed against Ace Darling, who is an experienced champion.
Slyk Wagner Brown: I don't know if theres any heat between us, but in this business you can have heat and not even know it. At the J Cup, I will prove to the critics why I am The Underground King and the JCW heavyweight champion.
Slyk Wagner Brown: It's obvious that some people are jealous of the fact that I'm with her, and that may hurt our bookings. However, I'm not interested in working for someone like that anyway...if that's the case, then it's obvious that person isn't in the business to make money.
Slyk Wagner Brown: No. I'm not taking anything away from her; she works hard and has made a name for herself in wrestling, modeling and with WCW. I haven't been on American television yet, but I'm using the resources available to me to build my name, such as my web site which is open to the world 24/7, taking overseas tours and doing TV in other countries. We compliment each other instead of competing against one another.
Slyk Wagner Brown: I think it has potential, but as long as people continue to hate and try to put each other out of business, then it won't be able to compete with the NY/NJ/PA area.
Slyk Wagner Brown: It's off the chain. I get to see the world, make decent money, compete against other wrestlers and learn different styles.
Slyk Wagner Brown: I'm scheduled to return Memorial Day weekend.
Slyk Wagner Brown: JAPW Slyk Wagner Brown: I really haven't worked for any companies that flat out suck, but some have been a lot less fun than others.
Slyk Wagner Brown: Nobody, but that doesn't mean someone won't make the list tomorrow.
Slyk discusses his roots, promotions and more in that interview. Enjoy.
is one of the top promotions on the east coast and was the first federation to give me an opportunity.
JCW
has a good year ahead with the 2004 J Cup Tournament.
ROH
offers the most exposure for an independent promotion. I wish things worked out better between us, but everything happens for a reason.
WXW
offers quality family entertainment.
USA PW
draws good crowds and offers the fans a variety of wrestling styles.
3PW
offers a little bit of everything with beautiful women.
ACW
started off on the right foot, but ended up in the wrong direction. Hopefully they can make a big comeback in 2004.
CSWF
is still in the process of building their fanbase, but once that happens they will definetly be a force on the independents.
CCW
gives the fans what they want and is the only New England company that doesn't buy into the b.s. about me.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You were scheduled to be part of the fulltime MLW roster before MLW closed. Is there any chance you may wind up in the H2 Promotion?
Slyk Wagner Brown: I want to be a part of H2Wrestling, so hopefully they are reading this and will give me a chance.
Slyk Wagner Brown: I have a love/hate relationship with road trips. I love traveling, seeing new things and working new places. I hate being stuck in traffic, getting lost, gas prices and Roy Rogers.
Slyk Wagner Brown: Message boards use to be a good place for important infomation, but now it's just a place for people to trash each other.
Slyk Wagner Brown: All of them.
Slyk Wagner Brown: JAPW implemented a "no double bookings" policy before their April 24th show, so that's why I wasn't there last month. I'm scheduled to return on June 12th.
Slyk Wagner Brown: It's more about entertainment in the states. Other countries enjoy the competition and athleticism and are less 'smarky'.
Slyk Wagner Brown: No doubt. They offer security and exposure.
Slyk Wagner Brown: I try to have fun at all of them...but it doesn't always work out that way.
Slyk Wagner Brown: Yes, but it's better than being overrated.
Slyk Wagner Brown: Heineken and Red Stripe!
Slyk Wagner Brown: It's my dream to compete in the WWE, but I would still think about it.
Slyk Wagner Brown: I wouldn't say they stole it exactly, but it's cool to know they like our style and are watching. I do think that the WWE borrows from the indies too much. However, it's probably hard to come up with new material when you're on the road 4 days a week.
Slyk Wagner Brown: My favorite match this year was the 6-way mayhem for Ring Of Honor against Sonjay Dutt, Caprice Coleman, Hydro, Jack Evans & Chris Sabin.
Slyk Wagner Brown: Hopefully contracted with WWE, NWA TNA, or wrestling in Japan.
Slyk Wagner Brown: Thanks for reading, sign up for my newsletter and check out my free video clips. Thanks to Mark Szabo my site is always updated. Look for "FATE", a new video clip that will be posted soon against some of my favorite opponents. www.SlykWagnerBrown.com
