Eric Simms
SHOOTING WITH THE SNAPSHOT
What up everyone and welcome to another McInterview. I interviewed Eric Simms about 6 months ago. Since then Eric has alot going on and alot to say. To read Eric Simms first interview check out ERIC SIMMS First DOI Interview
In this following UNEDITED and uncensored interview, Eric shoots on Tommy Fierro, The Iron Shiek and the state of NJ. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Hey Eric, thanks for doing another interview with the DOI. The biggest talk coming out of this weekend is the incident you had with the Iron Sheik. Can you in your own words tell us what exactly happened and give us every detail?
Eric Simms: After the fan slam convention a group of us went to Fridays as we were invited there by the promoter Tommy Fierro. Tommy loves to get the sheik drunk. At Fridays everyone was feeding the sheik drinks. He got loaded but was still under control. Sheik, Leilani Kai and I were at one table. At around 10pm we left for pub 46 which is about 5 minutes away. Tommy thought that it would be a good idea as we could sell photos of the sheik to make some extra money for the sheik and i. So I agreed to even though I knew it was a bad idea with the alcohol already in him. I got there first with Leilani and we got a bunch of tables set up. I was sitting at the end of the table with Leilani and Ricky O from Jcw. Sheik comes in about 10 minutes later as he went with other people. He walked in and I wasn't right there to hand him pictures to sign for the fans. He got angry with me and started verbally assaulting me. ( yelling and cursing at me ). I tried to oblige the sheik and at the same time ignore him. It got progressively worse and he got more loaded at the pub thanks to Tommy and friends. In his last tirade he gave the finger. I decided to give it back to him which was probably a bad decision at the time from a business standpoint but I got caught up in the moment. I guess that set him off. He then stood and threw a loaded beer bottle at my head. Luckily for me I was aware of what was going on and I was just thankful to put my hands up and block or deflect it. I then proceeded to go at the sheik but he was taken into the other room. I wanted to leave with Leilani Kai as I was her ride back to the hotel but I just stayed to cool off a little. The sheik comes back 10 minutes later to talk to me and there was a minor altercation and no one was hurt. I was lucky that no one was hurt. I lost control which I don't like to do. I even showed a side of me that I hate. I pride my self on being a mild mannered man that stays in control but I lost control. I left with Leilani and sheik was taken back by someone else. I later found out that he was upset that I was giving Leilani more attention than him. I have a solid business relationship with the sheik and when I was giving Leilani more attention than him "on his time " I guess that set him off. As far as everyone saying I beat up the sheik, well it just didn't happen. There was an unfortunate incident that is all. I have to hold Tommy responsible for the incident that happened at the pub later that night as this sort of thing has happened before for Tommy's personal satisfaction. The sheik and I will talk in the near future and get this resolved. I am going to have to put some safeguards into place to make sure this doesn't happen again. As long as the sheik is being booked by Ess Promotions, he will be under zero tolerance and will act in a professional manner. I will do by best to safeguard him from outside influences.
I spoke to the sheik last Tues. March 23 to get this resolved as he was out of town for a week. The Sheik apologized to me for his action as he stated that he had over 40 shots, not to mention close to 20 beers and 6 margeritas in him from the 2 bars. He personally blames Tommy Fierro for all of this. He states that Tommy really doesn't like me. After speaking with the Sheik on the phone and having him here this past weekend where we were finally able to talk man to man the whole bottom line is the Sheik said that Tommy Fierro while giving him as much alcohol as he could in the shortest amount of time kept stirring the pot with anti semitic remarks especially telling the Sheik that I was Jew bastard which only set the Sheik off more. The bottom line is people like Tommy Fierro are good at what they do and that is wrestling conventions. As a human being Tommy Fierro is a despicable person with no redeeming social values. He is a malicious person and the ultimate cause because knowing a person has a problem and getting them either high or intoxicated is like giving a diabetic a sugar diet. On a more personal note Tommy for his own shits and giggles put the Sheiks and my business and personal relationship in jeopardy. I could have been seriously injured not only by the Sheiks actions but by bouncer in the bar if they were just a little more aggressive with me. I am holding Tommy personally responsible for this. He instigated this whole scenario. He put the Sheik up to taking a swing or a sucker punch at me. If the sheik would have actually physically assaulted me there was a chance that he would have been arrested for his actions. Everyone at the table at the bar would also have legal problems due to your own agenda. Tommy its time you grew up. If you dislike me so much why have other people do your dirty work. You always tell the Sheik that you can kick my ass. WELL, TOMMY ITS TIME FOR YOU TO PUT UP OR SHUT UP. I AM PERSONALLY CALLING YOU OUT AND CHALLENGING YOU TO A FIGHT. I AM NOT A VIOLENT PERSON BUT I, AM TIRED OF BEING ON THE RECEIVING END OF YOUR MALICIOUS AND VICIOUS ACTIONS. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME YOU HAVE DONE THIS EITHER. BUT IT WILL BE THE LAST TIME. FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE BE A MAN AND LETS SETTLE OUR DIFFERENCES. IF ANY OF THE LOCAL PROMOTERS WOULD ALLOW US TO BE THERE BEFORE THE SHOW STARTS LET US IN THE RING WE WILL BOTH SIGN WAIVERS AS TO HAVE NO CRIMINAL CHARGES FILED FOR OUR ACTIONS AND INDEMNIFY THE PROMOTER OR PROMOTERS AND THE BUILDING OR ANYONE ASSOCIATED WITH IT AND WE CAN SETTLE OUR DIFFERENCES BECAUSE TOMMY YOU WILL DO NOTHING BUT YES ME TO DEATH AND CONTINUE ON UNTIL I FINALLY HAVE TO STOP THIS. AN APOLOGY AT THIS POINT IS MEANINGLESS. NOW TOMMY I EXPECT YOU TO MALIGN MY CHARACTER WITH OLD WAR STORIES TO TRY TO PROTECT YOUR IMAGE. LETS STOP THIS GARBAGE RIGHT NOW, YOU BRAG TO MANY PEOPLE HOW YOU CAN KICK MY ASS, I AM, GIVING YOU THE OPPORTUNITY. I EXPECT YOU TO SAY THAT THIS IS NOTHING BUT A GOOF, BUT IF I HAVE TO GO TO A SHOW AND BITCH SLAP YOU THEN THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WILL DO. I COULD HAVE STOOPED TO YOUR LEVEL BUT I REFUSE TO ACT IN A COWARDLY WAY. YOUR A TOP FLIGHT CONVENTION PROMOTER BUT AS WRESTLING PROMOTER YOU ARE A FAILURE AS IS IN YOUR PERSONAL LIFE. WHY DON'T YOU PROMOTE THIS BECAUSE THIS IS NOT A WORK THIS IS A SHOOT.
Eric Simms: Manny was having some problems down in charlotte and we spoke and he wanted to come up here for a while. He transferred his security job up here and I helped out in the beginning. He was staying at a local motel by my house and I was helping him get booked around here. Before too long he got indebted to me for some money. When his car gave up the ghost after a trip to Tennessee I helped him get a new car, I gave him a cell phone but when he got behind on the bill I shut it off. We even wanted to run a promotion here in NJ. I registered the name " Kayfabe Promotions" with county so I could have the rights to the name and we ran the " Iwo" . It was difficult as Manny and I had different ideas. Manny is a real aggressive guy and very intimidating. He helped some of the young guys like homicide and crazy Ivan out. He liked those guys. Manny was more for the boys in the promotion but as a promoter it cant be like that or you go out of business. Moving forward after he got very indebted to me and it was obvious that he couldn't or wouldn't pay me back because he couldn't I decided that I had to split from him as it would be the best thing to do. The split was going to take place at the show. We ran the show drew a low crowd but there was a homicide Vs low key match on the show that was awesome. He brought up his Tennessee and North Carolina friends to work which I saw no purpose in as we have a good crew of guys up here just looking to work. At the end of the show when it was obvious that we couldn't make payroll. It was all Manny as I didn't go into the locker room nor basically fund anything I just did the leg work. I told him we were done. His new car got impounded for a ticket violation and his family was wasn't going well so he left town quick. I then proceeded to go to small claims court to try to get my money back. I was awarded a judgment. I unfortunately couldn't collect as he left the state and it would be too much trouble to go to North Carolina to get it. If Manny comes back to NJ hopefully this unfortunate issue can and will be resolved.
Eric Simms: NJ and the tri state area is a hot bed for wrestling. there are a lot of promotions and a lot of workers and while i think its over saturated, i also think its good for the boys but hard for the promoters who want to make money off this
Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What are your feelings on the Rob Feinstein situation? Will you still support Ring of Honor?
Eric Simms: Rob and I were the original people vending back I the late 80's before todays crop of vendors. Rob was doing his videos and I was doing photographs before going full blown with shirts and all the WWE stuff. Rob and I paved the way for all of todays vendors to do what they do. Rob ran with his video concept and made a huge business for himself. He basically had the wrestling world by the balls ( no pun intended ) and was making plenty off it. Then he wanted to do ROH and that took off. Rob gets all the credit for innovating the shoot videos but it was I who did the first shoot video and only shoot video with Mick Foley around 1991 or 1992 during his early ECW days before rob stared doing shoots. I also just read about Bob Barnet doing it first but it was I. I never released it for personal reasons but I have the copy in my house in case anyone needs proof. Rob had the money and ran with it and made it successful. Rob made a fatal mistake recently. He "shit where he ate " and now all his hard work and legacy will be tarnished.
As far as my opinion on what happened I do not condone it and I find it quite disturbing. Do you remember when he was doing the fun athletic guy character ( f.a.g ), looking back on that now do you think he played that character all to well. Rob needs to get help and then needs to be punished for his actions
As far as Roh is concerned I have heard both pro and con about supporting Roh. Wrestling fans are very forgiving not to mention they just want to see wrestling and really don't care about politics. Roh is going to take its lumps now but in the end it will prevail and succeed.
As far as me supporting Roh, I haven't been to there shows yet and that is something I just have to think about for the future.
Eric Simms: I love the legends. They are easy to work with and I just love listening to the old stories.
Eric Simms: There is no relationship with Leilani and i. I met her at the fan slam convention and she needed a ride. I provided her a ride and spoke to her about doing business with her in the future. Like I said above I like to work with the legends and help them get work.
Unlike Rob Feinstein I "don't shit where I eat ". I HAVE NEVER NOR WILL I EVER SLEEP WITH ANYONE IN THIS BUSINESS TO GET AHEAD. ITS BAD FOR BUSINESS.
Eric Simms: Frank Goodman came up with that line. Another analogy could be Felix and Oscar from the odd couple. I am the straight person and the sheik is the free spirit.
Eric Simms: I hate the politics, lying and back stabbing in this business. Its very cut throat.
Eric Simms: Outside of the actual wrestling, I like meeting people and making good contacts. I also like the fact that this business has afforded me a second income
Eric Simms: There is pro and con
good to read and they are funny and sometimes give good info
The bad is if outsiders read some of the things written it definitely portrays the business in a bad light. When they get personal that is not right either.
Eric Simms: Outside of wrestling I have a regular job. I have my cdl class A and I drive a truck for a living. I deliver nitric oxide to hospital in the North east region Maine to Virginia out to Pittsburgh and everywhere in between. I deliver a life saving gas for newborn infants and young kids that have breathing problems. Outside of that I like to spend time with my family and I like to train in martial arts. I plan to release a self defense video in the near future.
Eric Simms: I usually attend all local NWS shows
I vend at all JCW shows and I will be the USA shows beginning this summer, and I will be returning to SSCW, ECWA, AND JAP as well in the near future.
Eric Simms: Thank you and I will have some pictures of Iron Shiek and myself from that infamous night.
