Jac Sabboth

In the words of Low Life Louie, (1 718 707 1014) WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO and welcome to the DOI! Today I sat down and interviewed Jac Sabboth. Jac Sabboth is one of the minds and the sole owner of ICW. ICW has had a storied history in NY Indy Wrestling, and was born after UCW closed doors. ICW first returned on 3/15/03 and sadly shut down on 7/18/03. After finding his passion and love of the sport, Jac Sabboth presents a brand new ICW with big things to come, starting on July 9, 2004. Jac answers questions about his past, his present and his future all in this exclusive interview. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Note: To read Jac's first interview with me, check out Jac's first DOI Interview
It was conducted right before the 7/18/03 ICW show. With that said, I present to you the latest Jac Sabboth interview.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Hey Jac, thanks for doing this interview with us. The last time we sat down and did this, it was a week before the last ever ICW show, on July 18th, 2003. Now, 8 months later there are rumors surfacing that UCW/ICW might be coming back. Now it's official. ICW is back with a big ass show on July 9th in Club Amazura. What led to ICW coming back and where do you see ICW going?

Jac Sabboth: Well first of all thanks for having me. Yes it's true, ICW is making a comeback on July 9th, at The Amazura Concert Hall in Queens, NY. What led to ICW's return is I think it’s the best time right now for INDY wrestling. I see so many Indy feds getting high attendance #'s (which they all deserve) and I feel there is room for another Indy fed (especially in New York).

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You own your own store. Here's your chance to plug it. Why should anyone go to your store and what do you have there?

Jac Sabboth: The Wrestling Universe offers alot of great wrestling merchandise to hardcore & casual wrestling fans. We have tons of wrestling videos, tons of very hard to find action figures, championship belts along with sports & non-sports cards.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: There has been alot of talk about Jac Sabboth stiffing everyone. In the last interview we did, you told us that everyone got paid. In all honesty, it's hard to believe that you stiffed over 50 people and not having your head handed to you. Can you discuss why you think you have gotten a reputation for stiffing people?

Jac Sabboth: I have always paid everyone I have done business with. (Stiffing someone is when you never pay them). Like I said, I have always paid everyone I did business with.

The undeserved reputation came from nasty rumors on message boards, once something is said over and over again people get used to that and it becomes a way of life (and we all know if its on a message board it must be true, LOL). I don’t believe that The MiC is a toilet-scrubbing janitor. Seriously it's just jealous people that like to stir the pot and cause problems for others. That’s all.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: In a DOI interview Jim Molineaux said you owed him money. Kevin Matthews said you lied to him. On the USA Pro hotline, Axl Rotten, Balls Mahoney and Deranged said you owed him money. Can you discuss those allegations?

Jac Sabboth: Yes, I can clear ALL of that up. The situation with Jim Molineaux was at the July 18th. ICW show. When you run a promotion it's hard to remember every detail. I had forgot Jim Molineaux was booked; I thought we only had ref. Hansen. So I gave Jim what I had left on me (which was about 80% of his fee, and I believe Uncle H gave his some $$ also). Anyway, there are no problems with Jim and ICW and actually Jim and Hansen are both reffing for ICW on July 9th.

The thing with Kevin Matthews is so stupid. I think he’s a nice guy, but at the time I never really had a spot for him. I think he speaks before he thinks and that’s not good for anyone. He did bust his ass for ICW; I just wish I did have a spot for him. (That’s probably what he’s talking about), but on a side not one person that really busted his ass for ICW was Jay Kronic (and he will have a spot in ICW's immediate future).

The thing with Deranged I really am not aware of. I thought I always took care of him. I also started using him in September of 2001 when others weren’t really using him. I wish he had spoke to me personally before he said anything because I really don’t remember. If I did pass him by at a certain time he should let me know.

I never ever dealt with Axl Rotten, (I did a shoot interview with Ian Rotten), but that’s about it.

I did owe Balls Mahoney money but he was also paid in full.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What are your feelings about the current state of Indy wrestling today?

Jac Sabboth: My feelings on the current state of Indy wrestling are I think it’s a great time to be an Indy fan. That’s one reason ICW is coming back.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What do you feel about the "loose cannons" of Indy wrestling, in particular, Kevin Matthews, Billy Reil and Teddy Hart?

Jac Sabboth: LOL, Kevin Matthews is not a loose cannon, Billy Reil on the other hand speaks his mind and takes things over the top (that’s what makes Billy Reil, Billy Reil. Teddy Hart has made a great name for himself)

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Ring of Honor has went from an Indy promotion to a respected promotion that many consider the number 2 promotion in the United States. Do you feel that ROH used alot of key elements from the early UCW, in particular the Low Ki-Xavier feud, which was started and peaked in UCW?

Jac Sabboth: Ring of Honor is a great promotion, they have an identity all on there own. Low Ki and Xavier is a great feud anywhere its done. I believe they realized how much potential there was from the June 30th. UCW/ICW show.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What's with the curse of the I-Cup? With UCW/ICW coming back, will you do the I-Cup soon?

Jac Sabboth: The Impact Cup is ICW's curse (LOL). Right now there are no plans to do The Impact Cup. I’m just concentrating on July 9th.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You have a strong record in shoot fights against Danny Demanto. What are your feelings on the guy who called you an ECW mark? What is it like shoot fighting against Danny Demanto?

Jac Sabboth: Danny Demanto...Hmmmm. Yes he did call me an ECW mark. He’s right, I loved ECW. I thought ECW has one hell of a promotion, but I remember Danny Demanto sitting front row with me at every ECW show. I also remember his photo book with TONS of Sunny photos. The book he had had tons of photos of with tons of pictures of valets. (I wonder what he did with that book) LOL. I don’t think he was thinking before he made that statement. Just like Kevin Matthews, that’s why they are friends, certain minds think alike.

Shoot fighting with Demanto is fun; he gets blown up very fast LOL.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What do you think about all the geeks who buy magic cards from your store?

Jac Sabboth: I love all of my customers.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What do you feel about people who bootleg tapes? What are your feelings on the guy who Robert Feinstein got arrested for bootlegging tapes?

Jac Sabboth: Really, I don’t know the situation with Rob and the guy he got arrested for bootlegging ROH and WWE videos.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What promotions are you a fan of today? Which promotions do you not care for?

Jac Sabboth: I love Jersey All Pro; I think they are a great promotion. That’s where I 1st. saw The Christopher St. Connection. I like ROH, and of course I like USA pro.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What was it like wrestling the New Dynamite Kid and Frankie Starz?

Jac Sabboth: That was a fun time. I like both guys. Frankie Starz and myself had words once, but nothing came of that. Every time I worked with The New Dynamite Kid (I don’t know why he uses that name) he always blew his knee out. It was fun.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Is it true Norman Smiley sued you?

Jac Sabboth: No, Norman Smiley NEVER sued me, I owed him money for a shoot interview we did, and I paid him on a later date, but we was paid. Norman Smiley and Shane Douglas will be at The Wrestling Universe on sat. May 15th from 1PM-3PM.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You are considered by many as one of the smartest minds in wrestling. Where do you get your booking ideas from and do you think you can teach some promoters a thing or two about booking?

Jac Sabboth: That’s very nice to hear, I think I get alot from Uncle H. I just love the business. I love to analyze the biz. I put my heart in it.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What is the heat between you and Ricky O?

Jac Sabboth: As far as I know, there is no heat between us know. If there is let me know. I heard he just had another child. Congratulations Ricky.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What are your feelings on NYWC?

Jac Sabboth: I like NYWC, they have a great promotion.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: With ICW coming back, what will be done differently and how long do you think ICW will last this time?

Jac Sabboth: Things will definitely be done differently. I have a brand new crew around me and they are not kids. Some of my best friends are involved. Things are very different. Everyone will see how different ICW is come July 9th.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: You were recently added to the USA Pro booking staff, only to leave a few days later. In the words of the Hurricane, WASSUPWITDAT?

Jac Sabboth: I didn’t think they needed my help, I made a few suggestions. Frank and the Funker are doing a fine job.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What does the future hold in store for Jac Sabboth?

Jac Sabboth: The future for Jac Sabboth and ICW will be told on July 9th, at Amazura concert Hall.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: ICW returns July 9th with 2 major matches already signed with Danny Maff vs. Homicide and Reefer vs. Red. What else can you tell us about this upcoming show? Why should any fan go?

Jac Sabboth: A.J. Styles is set for the show; ICW has something different to offer wrestling fans. We did announce a 3rd. match. We are working on our new website, which will be up within this week. ICW is making its "Ultimate Return". The new ICW is going to be a combination of both UCW & ICW. Things are not going to be the same in Indy wrestling in New York.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: What do you want to say to anyone reading this?

Jac Sabboth: The one thing I want to say to wrestling fans is this. ICW returns to wrestling on July 9th. This is a cant miss show. We will put on the best show we ever did. ICW has a brand new crew. A crew that will give the fans their moneys worth (above and beyond). There is a void in Indy wrestling today even though it’s going very well, but that void will be filled by ICW on July 9th. 2004. We will also be having a great after party at a location that everyone will love. We will announce that later next week.

Look for The Impact Twins on July 9th. The MiC knows what I’m talking about.

Thanks for having me.

Sean "The MiC" McCaffrey: Thanks for your time Jac, and good luck on July 9th, 2004.
