What up everyone, and welcome to another McInterview. Today’s guest is The Angry Amish Farmer, Roadkill. Roadkill made his name and presence known in ECW, even winning the tag titles with Danny Doring. Roadkill currently works a few indy shows here and there, and is currently a regular in 3PW. This interview was conducted backstage at a recent 3PW show. Roadkill came off to me as a funny cool guy and was very outgoing while doing this interview. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
The MiC: How you doing today?
Roadkill: I’m doing good today, looking forward to working tonight.
The MiC: How did you get into the wrestling business?
Roadkill: I chose to get into wrestling, because at an early age around 8 or 10 years old, I was always a huge fan of wrestling. I just wanted to be a part of it. I trained with Taz/Saturn/Bubba Dudley/Mikey Whipwreck and Tommy Dreamer at the old ECW training center, and from there on, I made my pro debut.
The MiC: What was your training like, anything like tough enough?
Roadkill: My training wasn’t like tough enough, it was a lot harder. Tough Enough shows you too little of what really goes on, in the training of becoming a wrestler. The Taz and Bob Holly style of training is what it was really like, but I even think they were toned down a little in the show. But those two guys really painted the picture of what real wrestling training was or is today.
The MiC: What have you been doing since ECW folded?
Roadkill: I’ve been working in the real world. Bouncing at clubs, working from 7-4, and wrestling here and there.
The MiC: What do you think has been your best match in your career and why?
Roadkill: I really enjoyed my match with Rob Van Dam in Wichita, Kansas. RVD was great to work with and it really came off great. I wrestled RVD twice and both times I thought the performance was well done. I also liked wrestling Sabu and New Jack.
The MiC: What was your favorite tag team match?
Roadkill: Definitely in ECW, with Danny Doring against Chris Chetti/Nova at Living Dangerously in NJ. We also had a great match over in Missaassaugua, in Ontario, Canada with Little Guido/Mamaluke. I like working with the FBI. Not the WWE version obviously, the FBI when it was Big Sal, Tracy Smothers, Little Guido and others. Winning the tag team titles in the Hammerstein Ballroom, in NYC with Doring was great too.
The MiC: What was your favorite singles and tag team matches, outside of ECW?
Roadkill: I’ve been teaming up with The Blue Meanie a lot. I enjoy wrestling Joey Matthews/Christian York and Da Hit Squad. I had good matches with them. I recently worked a PWA Show, out in Danbury, Connecticut, against Balls Mahoney in what was a great match. (Check the MiC review of it in the Reviews Page, the match was fantastic)
The MiC: You were teamed up with Danny Doring for a long time in ECW. How was your time in ECW with him as your partner?
Roadkill: I loved it. Danny and I really cliqued together well, and it made my stay and working with Danny very enjoyable. We were a tag team for more than 3 years, from 1998-2001 and my whole ECW stay was with him as my partner. I really loved it. I remember working against Meanie/Nova with Doring as my partner in November to Remember and having a blast.
The MiC: Have you had any talks with the WWE or NWA-TNA?
Roadkill: I was having emails with Jeremy Borash of TNA. I gave him my cell phone number, and he never called me at all. What can you do? I worked some dark matches with the WWE, when they ran back to back shows at MSG (June 14,15 of 2001) of Raw and Smackdown Tapings. I wrestled Crowbar and Tony Mamaluke . All the boys in the back said they were good matches, and so did a few WWE officials. I never heard from them again, and I never pursued working for them.
The MiC: What are your best memories in the wrestling business?
Roadkill: Just the explosive reactions you get sometimes. I mean people are still chanting ECW after it’s been gone for more than 2 years now. Just seeing the people I used to work with. I love the fan reactions and meeting people. People coming up to me and saying “Hey I saw you there, and you were great.” Just seeing the fans being impressed always makes me feel good, and giving them memories.
The MiC: What are your worst memories in the wrestling business?
Roadkill: Having a coma for a week, after receiving a powerbomb, in the 6th match of a show, only 5 minutes away from where I was living. It was against Bubba Dudley at the Sportsplus, and that sucked.
The MiC: What wrestlers are you a fan of today?
Roadkill: Well it’s hard for me to watch with work and all, but I’m a fan of the Big Show/ Brock Lesnar feud. They really work well together, they complement each other nicely. I also like watching Rey Misterio Jr, Kurt Angle and The Amazing Red.
The MiC: How did you hook up with 3PW?
Roadkill: The Blue Meanie contacted me, and brought me in. I’ve been here for 7 shows, so I’m glad management likes me, cause some guys don’t last long here. I worked with Danny against York/Matthews, and had a few singles matches with York, Rockin Rebel (2 times). I also have worked with Meanie against DHS and York/Matthews. I have had a good time here, and its good to be with 3PW.
The MiC: Who are your favorite opponents to get in the ring with?
Roadkill: Da Hit Squad, Simon Diamond, Christian York and Joey Matthews, Big Sal, Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke, The Dudleyz, Sabu, and New Jack among others.
